Chapters Braeburn tossed and turned, trying to get some sleep. This was the fourth night in a row he barely got sleep. He tried sleeping potions, but they did little to help. He had changed his mattress, bought lavender, and went to bed ninety minutes early.
He realized that it wasn't that he couldn't sleep, he needs somepony to sleep with. He allowed himself to remain single, for he had no intention of dating. Now, however, his loneliness had reached an all-time low. He needed somepony to snuggle up with.
"I'll ask Applejack for advice. And maybe Rarity or Fluttershy can set me up with some mare," he muttered to himself. He curled up into a ball, his eyes slowly closing. Apparently realizing his loneliness made him tired. At least now he could catch some sleep.
Braeburn approached Sweet Apple Acres. He never told Applejack he was coming, he just came. Hopefully, either her or her friends could help him. Perhaps the mare they found would be interested in him, too. That would make the journey better. He saw Applejack standing just outside the barn, having a conversation with Apple Bloom. Applejack noticed the lone stallion approaching them.
"Hey there cuz. What ya doing 'ere?" Applejack asked Braeburn.
"I need a li'l help," Braeburn told her.
"What'chu need?"
"I'm having trouble hittin' the hay. It's been that way for four nights now. I believe it's 'cause I need somepony to be with."
"You're welcome to stay 'ere," Applejack offered.
"I mean in a romantic way. I've bin a li'l lonely. I was hopin' you could help me."
"Oh. Maybe me and the girls could help ya. I'll round 'em up real quick. Stay 'ere." Applejack jogged past Braeburn. He hoped this was a good idea and that it wouldn't backfire instantaneously. Twenty minutes later, Applejack returns with her friends.
"Girls, I'm sure ya remember Braeburn."
"Of course, darling. Although, that doesn't explain why you have asked us to assist you," Rarity stated.
"Yeah. I was busy doing something."
"You mean napping the afternoon away?" Twilight questioned Rainbow Dash.
"I said I was busy ," Rainbow retorted.
"Would ya two hush? Braeburn needs our help."
"What do you need, Braeburn?" Fluttershy asked in a whisper.
Braeburn tried to speak, but his words ended up stuck in his throat. He was nervous about asking six mares how to ask out a mare. He took a couple of deep breaths to work up the courage.
"I need advice on how to ask out a mare," he managed o say.
"That's why you wanted us?" Rainbow asked.
"Rainbow Dash, don't be so rude. Braeburn is a growing stallion who has decided to seek a partner. He asked us to aid him in finding the perfect mare for him," Rarity rebutted.
"Rarity is right. We need to help him," Twilight agreed.
"I know, I know! How about we set him up with Limestone? Or maybe Marble? How about Maud? I can't decide, they're all so great," Pinkie said with glee.
"While anypony would be lucky to date your sisters, Pinkie," Rainbow said, trying not to be harsh. "I think Braeburn would prefer a mare who: isn't authoritative, speaks, and isn't emotional neutral." Turning to Braeburn, Rainbow suggested, "You want my opinion? Be twenty percent cooler."
"Rainbow Dash!" Applejack exclaimed.
"What? All I'm saying is he should act cool and mares will come running to him. It would be better than what he is now."
"Rainbow Dash!" Applejack exclaimed once more.
Braeburn's vision became blurry, for tears started forming. He didn't want Applejack or her friends to see him crying, so he turned and ran. He ran til he was at somepony's house, not caring who it was. Looking around, he realized he had run all the way to Canterlot. It wasn't until that moment that he realized his legs were sore. He didn't even realize he ran that far. On a normal day he couldn't run a quarter of the distance.
Tears rolled down his face. With nopony nearby to see him, he was free to understand that no mare would ever date him.
"Hello?" a concerned voice said from behind him. Turning, Braeburn saw a unicorn. He appeared worried that a grown stallion was alone and crying. "Are you okay?"
Wiping tears from his face, Braeburn replied, "I-I'm fine."
"You don't seem fine. What happened?"
"Nothing. It's just-" Braeburn trailed off. Should he really tell a stallion about his predicament? He doesn't even know him. Braeburn stood in silent thought longer than he wanted. It wasn't until the other stallion spoke that he returned to reality.
"Hey, you still with me?"
Braeburn shook his head. He wasn't answering the question, he was bringing himself back to where he was. "Yeah, sorry. My mind's bin awful fuzzy lately. I haven't been sleeping well these past four nights."
"Happens to me a lot. I've done so much to combat that. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't." The unicorn eyed Braeburn with a questioning look, making Braeburn blush a little. "Still, that doesn't explain why you are here."
"Long story. I was trying to get advice on how to-" once more, Braeburn paused. "-sleep better. One pony said something mean and I guess I ran all the way here."
"You said it was a long story, but that didn't take too long," the stallion pointed out.
A slight blush came across Braeburn's face. "I guess you're right," he said sheepishly.
"Where did you run from?" The unicorn was now interested in what Braeburn had to say. One does not simply run away. There has to be a good reason.
"Ponyville."
"You ran from Ponyville to here?" he asked in shock. "That's incredible. Even I wouldn't do that, and I have friends there."
"Really? Maybe you could introduce me to 'em. My cousin's friend was mean."
"You're in luck. One of them is coming today, and we're going to have fun." Using his magic, he picked Braeburn up. "Come on, I'll take you to my house."
Something about this unicorn made Braeburn feel... happy. He can't quite put a hoof on it, but he figures he'll know what it is.
"This is a mighty fine place you got here," Braeburn said, after examining the unicorn's house.
"Thank you. Even though I rarely allow visitors, I prefer to keep this place fresh," he said, blushing at the compliment. "Make yourself at home, if you want."
A thought came to Braeburn, something about this unicorn. "Now that I think 'bout it, you never told me your name."
"Oh. I'm-" a knock interrupted his thought. He trotted up to the door, and opened it with his magic. A pink pony pounced on him, pulling him into a hug. Returning the hug, the unicorn said, "It's great to see you too, Pinkie Pie."
"I would've gotten here earlier, but Applejack's cousin needed some help. However, he left because Rainbow Dash was being a big ole meanie," Pinkie stated.
"It's not my fault he's sensitive. He needs to grow a spine," Rainbow Dash said, entering the foyer.
"That's no excuse fer hurtin' 'im like that, RD," said Applejack in a disappointed tone.
"AJ? RD? What are you two doing here?" Midnight asked.
"We were s'posed to help Braeburn with something, but somepony hurt his feelings," Applejack answered, giving Rainbow Dash an accusatory glare. "Anyway, the others are coming too."
"Applejack?" a scared voice said.
"Braeburn, is that you?" Sure enough, Braeburn appeared behind Midnight. "What in Equestria are you doing here?"
"So let me get this straight. After running from Ponyville, you somehow ended up in Canterlot. Soon after, Midnight came across you and offered you to meet us."
"Basically. Except I didn't know it was you ."
"Did you tell him why you ran?" Applejack asked.
"No. I didn't want to seem... spineless," Braeburn responded.
"Braeburn, you aren't spineless," Midnight said, joining their conversation.
Braeburn blushed at that compliment, without any idea why. Sure a stallion complimented him, but he shouldn't blush.
"Thanks, Midnight."
"Now, why did you run? Pinkie told me Rainbow was being mean, but that doesn't explain why you needed advice."
"I-I needed advice on how to ask a pony out," Braeburn said.
Pinkie joined their conversation now. "Let Midnight help you! He knows what it's like to be lonely."
"I thought you two were dating?" Rainbow said, confused.
"We were, but we broke up. Mutually," Midnight answered.
"When?" Rarity, who had finally arrived, asked.
"We didn't tell you?" Pinkie asked them.
"No," Twilight stated.
Both Midnight and Pinkie looked at each other. Both of them thinking the same thing.
"Do a sequel that's also a prequel?" Pinkie suggested.
"Like that one game?" Midnight asked.
"Yeppers,"
"Can't be a classic."
"Classic? What the hay are you two talking about?" Rainbow Dash demanded.
"Just a little some thing we call 'Our Little Horror Story'." Pinkie giggled at the memory of the day they thought of that idea.
"I thought we agreed to call it 'Back Again'?"
Braeburn was about to ask them what they meant, but Applejack put a hoof to his mouth. "Don't bother. It's best to go along with them than to figure it out."
"Moving on. Yeah, I'll help Braeburn. Doubt it would be hard, though. He's good-looking. Any mare would want him."
Braeburn's heart skipped a beat as heat rose to his face. Midnight, for some reason, continued complimenting Braeburn. Now Midnight was offering to help him. What did Midnight want in exchange? That's always the reason for helping a stranger.
"So it's settled then. Midnight will help Braeburn with his dating problem," Twilight said.
"I-I guess that'll be alright," Braeburn said nervously. Turning to Midnight, Braeburn asked, "You sure you want to do this? It could turn out to be a waste of time."
"Of course I'll help you. Why wouldn't I? I bet somepony would fall for you by the end of this month." Braeburn reddened at Midnight's confidence.
"I'm uncomfortable," Rainbow Dash said. "I'll be going now."
The other mares left until only Braeburn, Midnight, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy remained. Fluttershy had said nothing back at Sweet Apple Acres, nor has she said anything during the second conversation.
However, now she decided it was time t give Braeburn her advice. Turning to him, Fluttershy said, "Just be yourself. I know you'll find a partner." She trotted out of the house.
"Well today has been fun, but I guess I got to go. You still up for what I have planned tomorrow, Midnight?"
"Totally. It'll be great."
"Bye then." As Pinkie hopped out the door, she was humming to herself. Only Braeburn and Midnight remained.
An awkward silence filled the room, as neither pony knew what to say. The grandfather clock, which Midnight had purchased a day ago, struck seven o'clock.
"I just remembered. I have some homework to do. My parents want me to pass so I can achieve my dreams. Typical parent thing, right?" Midnight said sheepishly.
"Right. Education is important. I guess I should be going. I don't want to distract you." Braeburn turned to leave, but a hoof grabbed his shoulder before he took even a single step.
"Nonsense, Braeburn. You can stay here. It'll be getting dark soon. Besides," Midnight continued, a gradual blush forming on his face. "I get lonely sometimes. I'm by myself here with nopony to keep me company."
Even though Midnight was no longer holding him, Braeburn decided to follow Midnight up to his room. Never before had a stallion tell Braeburn that he could spend the night. Midnight's room was fascinating, Braeburn had to admit.
"You can get some sleep if you want to," Midnight told him. "I've gotten used to the minimum of three hours of sleep."
Braeburn climbed into Midnight's bed, nearly passing out from lack of sleep and the comfort he experienced. Eyes drifting closed ever slowly, Braeburn wished his own bed was like this.
Braeburn woke up groggy, having sleeping the entire night. He hadn't even realized Midnight was sleeping next to him. Upon the awareness of the situation their arrangement portrayed, he came to the conclusion that one would misinterpret them to be together. Creeping out of bed, so as not to disturb the individual who laid beside him, Braeburn made his way downstairs to the kitchen. He prepared the two of them breakfast: waffles, scrambled eggs, toast with grape jam, and apple juice.
Soon after he finished setting out the food, Midnight came down the stairs—looking as if he got more sleep than he usually does.
"I thought ya said ya only get three hours of rest," Braeburn pointed out.
"I said that is the minimum . There are times I sleep the whole night away, and this was one of those times."
"Right," Braeburn said, unconvinced. "Anyway. While I was waitin' for you to wake up, I made us breakfast."
"Looks good."
"Thanks. I learned how to cook 'fore I started living all by my lonesome."
They sat down together, and started eating. Not another word spoken until after both finished the meal. After taking a sip of his apple juice, Midnight asked, "How is it you don't have a marefriend yet?"
"'Cause I didn't want one til now."
"That doesn't matter."
In utter confusion, Braeburn replied, "I don't understand what ya mean."
"You can cook and you're cute—" Midnight cut himself off. Both he and Braeburn sported a blush on their cheeks. Midnight actually called Braeburn—another stallion—'cute'. Trying to correct himself, Midnight stuttered, "I-I meant... um... handsome! Th-That's what I meant to say."
"How 'bout we move on?" Braeburn suggested. "Maybe a mare does fancy me. There's just one problem: I can't ask her out. I have a hard time asking somepony I like if they want to go out."
"You worry too much. Even if one says 'no—which I doubt anypony would—there are many other mares to date. You just have to find the right one."
"If ya say so."
"I know so," Midnight stated.
They both got up to get ready for today. Midnight bought Braeburn some cologne, as well as some shampoo and conditioner. After a long day—part of which involved Braeburn and Midnight brainstorming pick-up lines—they both got ready for another night's sleep.
As it was Saturday, Midnight had no homework. He shouldn't at least, but he still had work to do. Braeburn, once more, got into Midnight's bed. Midnight sat at his desk figuring out the equation of a precalculus, unaware that Braeburn had a burning question in his mind—one he had been thinking of all day.
"Midnight?" Braeburn said to his... friend.
"Yes?" Midnight responded, not bothering to look in Braeburn's direction.
Braeburn took a brreath. This would be the most uncomfortable question he would ever ask a stallion. "Do you really think I'm cute?"
Midnight looked up from his work into Braeburn's eyes. Brown eyes met green ones, both gazing into each other's soul. Midnight took a long pause before replying.
"Yes."
Braeburn said nothing more. Even if a mare said 'no' to dating him, Midnight always knew just what to say to make him feel... happy.
Just as Braeburn shut his eyes, he heard one voice speak.
"Ti amo."
Author's Note
"Just a little some thing we call 'Our Little Horror Story'."
November, Oscar. Romeo, Echo, Golf, Romeo, Echo, Tango, Sierra. (I don't know, I'm bored.)
"Still no luck," Braeburn said sadly.
"I know. We still have to keep trying, though. Somepony is bound to love you."
"Maybe we should take a break for a while? We can continue in two–four days," Braeburn implied. In a quiet voice, he added, "Or never."
"I guess we can take a break." At that moment, Braeburn's stomach growled. "Hungry? I have some bits left. Maybe we could get a bite to eat."
They walked towards a little restaurant. They ordered: two hay burgers, two sides of apple slices, a salad for Midnight, and two medium drinks of apple cider. A to-go order, costing roughly ten bits. They journeyed back to Midnight's home. Both munched on their meal, enjoying every bite.
A thought came to Braeburn, one he hadn't truly thought of until now. After swallowing the remaining food still in his mouth, he openly asked Midnight, "Why do ya do it?"
The sudden, and vague, question caught Midnight off guard. He sat still, perplexed on what Braeburn meant. Setting down his fork—which still had lettuce speared onto it—Midnight replied, "Do what exactly?"
"Sleep in the same bed as me. Ya coulda given me the guest bedroom, or ya coulda slept there. Instead, ya decide to get in bed with me."
A light blush crept across Midnight's face. As one hoof rubbed the back of his neck, he responded, "I was just... uh... tired. Way too tired to walk into the other room."
"'Too tired', huh? If I recall, ya have magic. Ya wouldn't need to walk anywhere, as ya could just teleport instantly."
The blush became much more pronounced. However, Midnight realized something too. Smirking, he questioned Braeburn as well. "Although I decided to get in bed with you, you don't seem to have a problem with it. You could've told me to stop, but you didn't."
It was Braeburn's turn to become red. "W-well I... ya see..." he stuttered. He couldn't piece together the words he wanted. He had the answer in his mind, but was unable to convert them into actual sentences. Changing the subject, Braeburn focused on Midnight's cutie mark. "What does yer cutie mark mean, anyway? It looks... odd."
Midnight smiled. Not because Braeburn took interest into his flank—or rather his cutie mark—but because he changed the subject, saving both of them from extreme awkwardness.
"Do you like it?"
"I think it's fascinatin'."
"That's all that matters then. I won't tell you anymore."
"Aw," Braeburn whined. "I won't tell nopony, I promise."
"Sorry, but that is a personal matter. A matter known only by me and my family," Midnight said in a 'that's that' tone.
Disappointed, Braeburn rose from his seat. He bid Midnight goodbye, and headed out the door.
"He's getting suspicious, Midnight."
"So what? He feels the same way," Midnight told Nightmare. After Braeburn had left, Midnight went up to his room and entered the dream realm to talk to Nightmare and Madness. They had been discussing Braeburn since Midnight and him first met. Only now it was a consultation.
"That isn't what I'm talking about," Nightmare said. It took a few seconds for Midnight to understand. This wasn't about how they felt about each other, it was about the cutie mark.
"Oh. What if we made it seem like I'm 'normal'?" Midnight suggested.
"'Normal'? What fun! We haven't been that way since we were in grade school." Madness had been silent for some time, but now he seemed keen on joining.
"You know we can't seem 'normal'. Braeburn would likely discover the truth and reject you," Nightmare stated.
"You're such a party pooper."
"Oh Birthday Boy!" Madness said in a singsong voice. Midnight and Nightmare looked at him, about to question him, then realized he's basically a mentally unstable Discord-Pinkie Pie mix. Meaning he does things that make only sense to him.
"Now isn't the time to be referencing, Madness. We are discussing Braeburn acknowledging Mid—our cutie mark," Nightmare said to Madness with a dark tone.
"Ignore him. We both know we can't get through to him."
"Whatever." Nightmare turned towards Midnight, not letting Madness's little outburst disrupt their dispute. "You need to face the facts, Braeburn won't stick around when he finds out."
"You're wrong! I'm getting to know him better. With my knowledge in psychology, I can predetermine how he would feel. It's simple." There wasn't confidence in Midnight's voice, only hope. Nightmare was done debating the topic.
"Fine. Just don't say I didn't warn you."
Braeburn returned ten minutes past eight. Since his departure, he had been pondering what Midnight's cutie mark meant. He hadn't figured it out, though. He knocked on the front door. It opened, a unicorn standing in the doorway.
"Braeburn? What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you. It's getting dark soon, so I thought maybe ya would let me stay the night again."
"You left hours ago," Midnight recalled. Braeburn couldn't help but blush a little.
"I know." Braeburn wasn't comfortable being put on the spot. True he had left hours prior, but now he was back.
"Why didn't you go home? Or to Applejack's house?"
That question only made Braeburn's blush deepen. In his mind he thought about doing exactly that, but his heart—unbeknownst to him—had other plans. He just knew he wanted to spend the night with Midnight and nowhere else. Midnight noticed his silence, for he had gestured for Braeburn to enter.
The two of them went upstairs to the same bedroom they had slept in before. Braeburn climbed in first, as he expected Midnight to follow. However, Midnight—instead—laid his head on top of Braeburn's belly, between his legs. Braeburn's heart beat rapidly as Midnight stared into his eyes.
"There's a reason you came here. You had hours to go home, but you didn't. Why?" Midnight asked with sincere curiosity.
Braeburn didn't answer immediately. He hadn't really gave it much thought. Why did he return? He had an opportunity to go home, but he stayed where he was: near Midnight.
"I guess it's because I like being with ya," Braeburn finally said. There was a hint of sincerity in his voice, though Braeburn was oblivious to the fact.
Midnight stared at Braeburn, gazing into his soul. A thought came to Midnight, one that would—hopefully—prove him right.
"Do you mind if I try something?" he asked with a calm, soothing tone.
"Go ahead," Braeburn said, not giving it a second thought. Midnight smiled, causing Braeburn to smile too. Lowering his head, Midnight licked Braeburn's belly—inducing him to giggle a little.
Midnight continued licking, making Braeburn laugh harder. "St-stop that," Braeburn managed through laughs.
"You said it was alright," Midnight replied before continuing. Midnight held Braeburn down with his hooves, licking Braeburn's belly. Soon, Midnight replaced his tongue with his hooves.
Braeburn couldn't breath, as Midnight continued his onslaught. Braeburn thought of something while laughing. If he could get Midnight under him, he could repay the favor. As Midnight was about to return to the licking, Braeburn sat up quickly and pinned Midnight down.
It was Braeburn's turn to tickle Midnight. He started with his hooves on Midnight's belly, making sure to show no mercy. He decided to use his tongue to lick Midnight's neck, causing him to spasm with laughter.
"Braeburn," Midnight said while laughing. "Pl-hehehease, I yield." Braeburn loved hearing Midnight laugh, it made him happy. Braeburn, in one movement, licked from Midnight's lower belly all the way up to his neck.
This continued for ten more minutes, during which both got a chance to torment the other. Their fun ended when Braeburn was atop Midnight, both breathing heavily trying to catch their breath. Braeburn may not be laughing anymore, but his heart was beating crazily. Something made Braeburn do something he wouldn't normally do, something one would do to a crush or date: he kissed Midnight.
A long, passionate kiss that lasted for two minutes, or that's what it felt like to the two of them. Realizing what he had done, Braeburn broke away and stared at Midnight, studying for any signs of discomfort. Midnight showed no signs of disgust at what Braeburn had done. Actually, Midnight brought Braeburn closer. This time, Midnight was the one who locked their lips together.
They both broke away, and repositioned themselves. Braeburn laid on his left side, Midnight being between his forelegs. Midnight nuzzled up to Braeburn's chest, feeling Braeburn's heart beat against his back was oddly soothing. That's the position they remained in, even when neither feel asleep for some time. Tomorrow marked a new day for the two of them, and they had achieved their goal: get Braeburn a date.
Author's Note
" . . . said in a 'that's that' tone."
That's all folks!
(I got bored during study hall.)
"Any luck finding a lover Braeburn?" Applejack asked.
Braeburn had met up with Applejack to discuss something. That something being how he felt about Midnight. He had no idea how to explain to Applejack that he wasn't dating a mare, but a stallion. Technically not dating, just in love with a stallion. Nevertheless, he was worried she'd be disgusted.
"I guess I did have luck," he said after a while.
"That's great. Are they perfect?" He had genuinely piqued Applejack's curiosity.
"They're something alright," Braeburn said dreamily. He hadn't remembered being this happy about being close to a stallion before. Then again, it wasn't a relationship thing.
"That's wonderful darling," Rarity said. The others had been with Applejack beforehand, wondering if Braeburn and Midnight were successful in their endeavors. Needless to say, they had their answer. "I do hope you two will have a lovely time together. After all, you and Midnight worked hard."
Each mare was happy for Braeburn, even Rainbow Dash—who had doubts about this entire thing. Pinkie Pie was planning a party for Braeburn, congratulating him on his success.
"Guess I owe you a cider," Rainbow Dash said to Applejack. They had made a bet, that one would buy a cider for the other. Applejack would win if Braeburn got a date by the month's end. Rainbow Dash would win if Braeburn gave up before then.
"No RD, I'll getcha a cider. As long as Braeburn's happy, I'm happy."
"Save me the sappiness. We can get each other a cider," Rainbow Dash said. The two of them had become friendlier to each other than the last time Braeburn saw them. Somepony could mistake them as in love. However, it was the fact that they both wanted cider, and buying one for each other made them happier. Another crucial detail was that they had a cider drinking contest before any of the others arrived.
Twilight, ignoring the two of them, turned to Braeburn. "What's she like?"
Braeburn snapped out of his daydream. He hadn't told them the date he and Midnight found was Midnight. He didn't know what any of them would say about it. Nopony knew he was... homosexual.
He tried thinking of a way to answer the question without giving away the actual answer. "They're a lot of things. Smart, cute, I love hearing them laugh, and they make me laugh. I can't imagine being with anypony else." Once more Braeburn daydreamed about Midnight. His mane, his laugh, his physique. Soon, his thoughts drifted downward. Very far downward, as he dreamed about Midnight's...
"What about Midnight?" Twilight asked, interrupting his train of thought.
Braeburn's heart skipped a beat as the image faded from his mind. "Wh-What about him?" Braeburn asked, attempting to hid his blush.
"How did he react when you scored a date," Rainbow Dash answered for Twilight.
Braeburn didn't know how to answer that. How would Midnight feel if he dated a mare and not him? It didn't take long before Braeburn came up with an answer. "He was happy for me."
"Really? I would've thought a stallion like him would've been jealous," Rarity said astonished. The mares all thought Midnight would be a bit jealous about Braeburn dating somepony else. However, they did not enlighten Braeburn on why.
"When do we get to meet them?" Fluttershy asked with curiosity. This was going too far. Braeburn wanted them to know who he was dating, but didn't at the same time. Before he could respond, Pinkie got an idea.
"I know! How about you bring them over to the party? That way we'll meet them, and get to party at the exact same time!" Pinkie Pie, like Fluttershy, didn't say 'her'. Instead, they both said 'them'. Although Braeburn wanted to understand why, he didn't bother asking.
"I'll have to discuss it with 'em. I'll see y'all later at the party, okay?" With that, Braeburn left to go figure this out. He would figure his answer, and later get Midnight's.
"This is a bad idea, Midnight," Nightmare told him.
"It is not! Braeburn loves me, and I love him. What could possibly be bad about that?"
"His chances of finding out have tripled, because now he has a better reason to visit."
"I don't care! I just want to be with him." Midnight was angry. Sure Nightmare is supposed to be a downer, but this was too much.
"He'll leave you the chance he gets after discovering us. That's the truth." Nightmare's tone was toxic. He wasn't keen on being discovered by Midnight's lover. In his opinion, that is a terrible way for one to uncover another's insanity.
"Nothing is true!" Midnight shouted. He wasn't one to shout. He was a quiet pony, even when the time required for him to speak up.
"Nothing is true, everything is permitted." Madness was casually flying as he pleased. Occasionally, under the right circumstances, he would say something that seemingly referenced something else.
"Shut it, Madness, or I'll crack your skull open!" Nightmare was seething with rage. He was growing tired of arguing with Midnight and of Madness spewing nonsense.
"Requiescat in pace," Madness said before falling silent.
Nightmare, who had calmed down some during his outburst at Madness turned to Midnight. "Stop dating him, or have your heart broken. Either way, you won't be dating him anymore." Both Nightmare and Madness left Midnight standing in the middle of their realm.
"How am I going to tell him?" Midnight wondered. "It isn't like I can just go up to him and say 'I have two other ponies living in my head. Do you still want to date me?'" Midnight returned to the waking world, still pondering his situation. Only when a knock came at his door did he stop.
"That's the predicament I'm in right now." Braeburn had just finished telling Midnight about the party, including the part where Braeburn had to bring his date with him. It was nearing nine o'clock. Braeburn had stayed for dinner since his arrival, as well as delay telling Midnight. Now, however, he couldn't hold it off any longer. "What do ya think I should do?"
"Why didn't you tell them the truth?" Midnight wondered.
"I didn't want them to know 'cause I thought they'd reject me." Braeburn was concerned. He didn't want to lie to his cousin—the Element of Honesty—but he didn't want to tell her the truth either.
"Why would they reject you? I know they'll still accept you."
"But I'm—" Midnight put a hoof over his mouth.
"You're perfect. Don't fear how others will act. You are you, and that's all that matters." Midnight brought Braeburn into a kiss. It calmed Braeburn down, he needed something to distract him from his worries. Once they broke away, Braeburn decided it best to tell Applejack the truth.
"I guess you're right. I shouldn't be ashamed of what I am." They kissed again, not caring if anypony was watching. Why should they hide this? Hiding from what you are is basically you hiding from yourself. An idea came to Midnight's mind, one that would... please Braeburn.
After breaking away, Midnight informed Braeburn. "I've got an idea."
"What is it?" Braeburn asked with a smile.
"Follow me," Midnight said with a smirk. Braeburn couldn't help but smile as well. Whatever Midnight had planned, Braeburn was sure he would enjoy it. Soon, he'll realize how right he is.
They entered Midnight's room. Midnight gestured for Braeburn to get on the bed. Braeburn obeyed, and Midnight closed the door behind them.
"What do ya have planned?" Braeburn asked as Midnight climbed on top of him.
"You'll see." Midnight nuzzled Braeburn's chin while kissing his neck. As Midnight peppered Braeburn's neck with kisses, he moved his hoof down Braeburn's back, until it was just above its destination.
"What are ya doing?" Braeburn asked, even though he sounded like he was enjoying it.
"Do you want me to continue?" Midnight replied.
It didn't take long for Braeburn to come up with an answer. "Yes." Not wasting a second, Midnight's hoof made contact with Braeburn's ass. Braeburn moaned with pleasure, he needed relief from his problems. Midnight left a trail of kisses down Braeburn's chest. Passing Braeburn's belly, Midnight's kisses trailed downwards towards Braeburn's cock. Midnight nuzzled Braeburn's balls while giving his inner thighs a licking simultaneously.
Braeburn's shaft hardened as Midnight played with Braeburn's ass. Midnight decided it was time, so he started licking Braeburn's balls, coating both with his saliva. Braeburn's was enjoying every moment, emphasized by his growing length. Midnight's own member hardened as Braeburn, nonverbally, begged him to give him a taste of Midnight's stallionhood. Midnight complied and adjusted his body so that his rod hovered over Braeburn's gaping maw.
Braeburn thanked him by playfully licking the tip, teasing him. Midnight returned the favor by tracing his tongue up and down Braeburn's shaft, eliciting a moan from him. Midnight then took Braeburn's tip into his mouth, slathering it with his saliva. Braeburn moaned, and mimicked Midnight's motion. A little of Braeburn's pre oozed out of his tip, only to be lapped up by Midnight.
Eventually, Midnight swallowed all the way to Braeburn's medial ring. Braeburn moaned blissfully, the action making his length stiffen more. Midnight bobbed his head up and down while writhing his tongue around his partner's member. Braeburn, due to the amount of pleasure he was experiencing, had slowed down his efforts, much to Midnight's disappointment. Midnight lowered his hips so that his stallionhood made contact with Braeburn's tongue.
Braeburn got the hint and began mirroring Midnight's behavior. Midnight, in one swift movement, used his unoccupied hoof to caress Braeburn's thigh. Braeburn tensed, and—to Midnight's delight—vibrated his mouth, which was clamped down on Midnight's member. The vibration caused Midnight to moan with pleasure, coaxing some pre to leak out. Midnight may know how to please a stallion without any experience, but he didn't have enough endurance, supported by the fact that he felt his climax approaching.
Braeburn—whether he knew Midnight was close or not—sucked on Midnight's rod a bit harder, causing Midnight to groan with pleasure. Midnight was closing in on his climax, and he knew it. In a last-minute effort to have Braeburn climax along with him, he started going up and down slightly faster—doing the same vibrating technique Braeburn had done earlier. Braeburn enjoyed it so much, that he closed his eyes and panted—even with Midnight in his mouth.
Braeburn's shaft pulsed and, eventually, squirted his seed into Midnight's mouth, firing shot after shot. Seconds later, during which Midnight continued licking Braeburn's rod clean, Midnight's own member exploded, coating the interior of Braeburn's maw with his seed. When both stallions finished licking the other's shaft clean, Midnight adjusted himself and laid down on top of Braeburn.
Their heavy breathing fell into a rhythm. They remained still, embracing each other as their chests rose and fell with each breath. Midnight nuzzled up to Braeburn and kissed him under his chin. The clock on Midnight's wall read eleven o'clock. Braeburn didn't want to end the night so soon. Suddenly, he got an idea, one that would surely please Midnight.
"Midnight, wouldja turn round fer me?" Midnight complied. When he settled back into Braeburn's forelegs, he was caught off guard by two hooves ferociously tickling his sides.
"Braeburn, haha. Stahahp. Plehehease," Midnight begged. Midnight, Braeburn found out, was very ticklish and couldn't escape the situation he was in. He writhed with joy in Braeburn's clutches, gasping for breath as Braeburn continued his assault. Braeburn smiled, and almost laughed as well. Midnight's laughter not only brought him joy, but also reanimated Braeburn's rod. Braeburn got on top of Midnight, and turned him so he could see Braeburn's next move. He took long licks, starting from Midnight's lower belly up to his neck, provoking another series of giggles. "Braeburn, stop. I can't breheheathe."
Braeburn obeyed and Midnight took in lungfuls of air. He had never experienced anything like that before, even with Pinkie. They looked each other in the eyes. Braeburn pointed down with one hoof at his crotch. Midnight looked, his own starting to revive, and licked his lips.
"You going to stay in that position, or are you going to shuffle your cute ass over here so I can get another taste?" Midnight questioned with bedroom eyes. Braeburn shook his head, much to Midnight's disappointment.
Seeing Midnight's frown, Braeburn told him, "I've got a better idea." Midnight's ears perked up and he tilted his head in curiosity. "How 'bout ya spread yer hind legs and relax?" Braeburn finished his thought with a seductive tone. Midnight did as told, not giving it much thought on what Braeburn had planned.
Braeburn decided to start with something before what he intended. He spread Midnight's legs further, revealing his hole. Braeburn licked his lips, getting ready for what he was about to do. He stuck out his tongue, gliding it across one of Midnight's flanks, before stopping short of his hole. Midnight squirmed when Braeburn did that, giving Braeburn the signal that he was enjoying it. He teased Midnight's hole by tracing it with his tongue, going clockwise and counterclockwise a few times. Midnight moaned with pleasure at the tactic.
Braeburn's length hardened with the constant teasing. His tongue journeyed further into Midnight's hole, exploring the dark, wet cave. Midnight clenched his hole on Braeburn's tongue, ecstasy coursing through every fiber of his being. Braeburn's rod pulsated, begging to enter the cave itself. Although Braeburn would enjoy fucking Midnight senseless, he wanted Midnight to howl with bliss by Braeburn eating him out. Braeburn's tongue inched in further, forcing Midnight's precum to trickle down his member. Braeburn's own rod dribbled, soaking into Braeburn's hind leg.
Since he knew continuing would keep both of them on the edge, Braeburn dislodged his tongue. He put his forelegs onto Midnight's chest, and angled his rod so that it was in a readied position. Braeburn looked Midnight in the eyes, awaiting his say-so. With a nod from Midnight— accompanied by a devil-may-care smile— Braeburn gently inserted his length into Midnight. One of Midnight's hind legs twitched as he awaited what he yearned for.
Braeburn started slowly, picking up the pace as he went along. The more he fucked Midnight, the more his hole stretched— allowing Braeburn to enter deeper. Braeburn pulled out until only the tip remained, and thrust hard— reentering Midnight. Every thrust grazed Midnight's P-spot, sending him into an uncontrollable series of orgasms.
Midnight's member flared up, and a sudden realization washed over him. "Braeburn... I'm... I'm..." Midnight tried saying, but he was too far gone from the continuous pounding. Midnight's balls clenched, making him finish his thought. "I'm cumming!" Midnight's length shot its first load— which landed on his neck. Another load was fired, this time onto his stomach.
Braeburn didn't here Midnight. The reason being that he was also cumming, directly into Midnight's ass. All three loads painted Midnight's entire rectum white. Midnight's final load just ran down his softening cock. Braeburn— after withdrawing his own softening rod— bent his head down and lapped it up along with the other two.
For the rest of the night, they laid together in each others embrace. Both satisfied with what just transpired. Neither wanting to get out of bed the following morning, even though the party was drawing ever close. They did, however, devise what they were going to do about Braeburn's date: just tell the truth. Both accepted it as their plan, and they were determined to not hide their pride.
