Braeburn has never understood the fancier side of life in Equestria, and certainly has never taken part in any kind of grand party like the Grand Galloping Gala. But, when Maud Pie invites him as her plus one, he takes the opportunity to spread the word about Appleloosa and get some investors in. Naturally, it's just Maud's nature to do a small favour for one of Pinkie's friends, and that's all there is to it.
