Paper wasps are a little more docile than yellow jackets. You might have a more difficult time with them. Still, the best way to get to any insect’s heart is through their stomach. See if you can lay a plate of honey or sugar water by their nest every day. They’ll be used to your presence if you do. Just be sure to bring some aloe with you. You never know if they’ll attack.

The first few days have been a little painful. I did what you recommended and laid a plate of honey near their nest every day up until now. However, they aren’t quite used to me yet. Some of the buggers really peppered me with a few of their stings. It ain’t on the rump, neither. Good news is, when ponies stop me on Appaloosa, they look at how I’m stung all over my body and don’t suspect a thing about me. I always say it was an accident and they move on. Gotta say, I know what it feels like to be you now, trying to hide away the marks. It can be a little daunting when ponies start to stare.
I’ll keep trying, though. Celestia knows that I’m gonna have my personal hive to play with, even if I end up sore every night.

I’m so sorry to hear that you got hurt in a bad way. I wish I could talk to them for you, but things have been really busy over in Ponyville. I’m on my way to Canterlot to help with a new type of bee that was discovered. I’ll let you know the next time I’m available to travel and come visit.
Honestly, I think you may have picked a bad time to try this. When Fall approaches, wasps of all kinds get more aggressive in their task of looking for food before winter hits. They may think that you aren’t giving them honey, but taking potential food away. That’s why they sting. Try to recover and don’t strain yourself too much.

I did it! I finally did it! Fluttershy, your last letter gave me a great idea! If they are going to be in a stinging mood either way, why not direct them where to sting? You won’t believe how well they are cooperating with the honey I’m using. And, if I may be a bit forward with you, I always wanted to try a bit of food play.

Pushing a broom across the floor, Braeburn swept around the living room of his humble abode to gather up the dust and dirt that followed him inside. He usually doesn’t clean up as much as he should but, when company is involved, he tried to looks his best. Of course, he had a very intimate relationship with this particular visitor, so the cleaning up is more of a courtesy than anything else. After gathering a small pile of dust on the floor, he swept the dust onto a pan and poured it into a wastebasket, just in time for a couple knocks to resonate from the door.
“Jus’ a second!” Braeburn yelled out, hoping for the pony on the other side to hear. He put away his broom and pan in a corner of the room and trotted his way over to the door. With a flick of the handle, he pulled the door open with a friendly smile across his face. The blueish white pegasus smiled back and waved his hoof slightly.
“Hey there, Brae! Sorry, I took so long to get here,” said Soarin. Braeburn opened the door a little wider and moved aside to let his best friend in.
“T’ain’t nothin’ ta worry about, Soarin. Least yer here safe n’ sound.” Soarin took the stallion’s invitation and walked inside the house after wiping his hooves on the welcome mat. Braeburn closed the door behind him.
“Mind if I just throw this anywhere?” Soarin’s wings extended to show the heavy saddle bag strapped to his back. Braeburn nodded his head. “Thanks!” he said as he lifted the bag off of himself and dropped it on the hardwood floor with a light thud. “Like I said, I coulda got here earlier, but my wing is on the fritz. So, I had to take the train.” Soarin then chuckled at the very thought of a skilled wonderbolt using anything but his wings to get around. “Man, the train! Could you believe it?”
Braeburn shook his head while he giggled a bit. “Shoot, ya still ain’t used to takin’ things slow, huh?”
“If I took things slow, you wouldn’t know how wild I can be.” Soarin raised an eyebrow while flashing a smirk. “Or, are you saying you don’t like our rodeo sessions, cowpony?”
Braeburn let out a hearty laugh at Soarin’s dirty talk. Soarin knew that Braeburn didn’t mind being a little rough on the handsome stallion. In fact, Braeburn always encouraged him to dominate him as much as he could. Braeburn is usually the pitcher in some cases but, with Soarin, he’s eager to play catcher and let him release all the tension and stress from his Wonderbolt training. Although Soarin loved to put Braeburn into submission, he’d never do anything to really hurt the gentle cowpony, and his willingness to hold back created a trusting bond between them.
“Ah, not one bit, ya ol’ stud.” Braeburn happily stated as he nudged Soarin’s chest with his elbow. The two chuckle a bit more until a rumbling sound emitted from the pits of Soarin’s stomach. The pegasus blushed as he put his hoof over it. “Ya must be starvin’ from the long trip over.” Braeburn turned around and walked towards the kitchen. “Ah got a special surprise fer ya in the kitchen.” He stopped in his tracks momentarily to await a reaction from Soarin. The timing couldn’t be more perfect. Food was a good way to loosen the pegasus up for anything in mind, especially one specific dish.
Soarin lit up at the idea of food and, if he knew Braeburn well, he had his favorite. “Lemme guess!” he excitedly shouts as his wings spring up. “Apple pie?!”
Braeburn turns his head with a sly look towards Soarin. “Ain’t nothin’ but.”
Soarin whinnied and reared up ecstatically before sprinting behind Braeburn. The two entered the kitchen as the sweet smell of apple pie wafted into Soarin’s nostrils. He took a long whiff and licked his lips before pulling up a chair to sit on by the center table. Braeburn opened a few cupboards to whip out a knife, a spatula, and a plate, then took the utensils to the pie sitting on the stove. He cut a sizable portion of the pie and set on the plate, then picked up the plate with his mouth to serve it to Soarin. Braeburn gently sets the plate in front of the needy stallion, then pulled up a chair to sit across from the hungry pegasus. Soarin took no time to take the pie in his hoof and take a bite into it.
Thoughts raced through Braeburn’s head as he watched his friend eat. All the pieces are in place. His friend is happy, comfortable, and right beside him, his method of directing yellow jackets worked perfectly, and he’s played the scenario of how he would propose something new a million times in his head. But, the timing had to be right. It’s almost evening and the sun is going down at a steady pace. If he didn’t make his moves soon, the wasps would be asleep by the time they got to the nest.
Soarin, after finishing up what was left of the slice, laid back on the chair and exhaled a satisfying sigh. “Whew. You make the best apple pies, Braeburn. It must run in the family.” said Soarin.
Braeburn scooted his chair back to get up and walk around the table to Braeburn’s side. “Dang tootin’, Soarin. Ya can’t call yerself an Apple if ya can’t make a decent apple pie.” replied Braeburn as he approached Soarin, still sitting contentedly. Braeburn leaned his head lower towards Soarin’s neck as he gave the pegasus a small kiss. Soarin let out a giggle as his neck muscles twitched from the tickling of Braeburn’s lips and breath. The earth pony continued his assault, and landed a few more subtle kisses as he moved higher and higher to his cheek.
Soarin let out another giggle before turning his head to face Braeburn. He noticed how the stallion is tilting his head with a sultry look on his face. “Geez, Braeburn,” Soarin teased, “I didn’t even get comfortable yet and you’re already all over me.”
Braeburn leaned in closer as he gave a quick peck on the pegasus’s lips. “Well, Ah missed ya, Soarin. Is that a crime?” Soarin relaxed himself and allowed the needy earth pony to have his way. He planted a longer kiss on Braeburn as the two slowly embraced one another. Braeburn pulled slowly away from the kiss and leans in to nuzzle his head on Soarin’s neck. Soarin repaid the gesture by lifting Braeburn’s favorite stenson off his head, gently setting it beside the plate, and lovingly brushing his hoof across the cowpony’s rugged mane. Braeburn closed his eyes and braced himself for the next step as he felt Soarin’s hoof petting his head.
“Soarin, A-Ah got a bit of a confession ta’ make.” Braeburn shakingly whispered. Soarin responded to this new movement by gently pulling his head closer to his neck.
“What is it, you big lug?” Soarin whispered.
Braeburn began to sweat a little bit as a lump in his throat welled up. Soarin paused and stared back at Braeburn with his mouth slightly open. His brain was quickly processing the situation that was in front of him, fighting every gut reaction to refuse Braeburn’s offer. While Soarin wasn’t completely terrified of wasps, he was still scared enough to not want to be close to them. Those little insects were unpredictable, no matter how well Braeburn thinks he had them trained. Soarin lifted his hoof to say something, but stopped himself before he could to give it another thought. Braeburn’s brow was sweating as his heart pumped nervously. He prepared for Soarin’s declined and hoped that, in a best case scenario, this doesn’t affect their relationship in any way.
“Trust is a two-way street,” Soarin finally piped up, catching Braeburn’s attention as his ears and eye perked upwards. “You’ve been so cooperative and understanding with all those times I’ve treated you rough. I’ve trusted that you’d say something if I had hurt you in any way, and you trusted me to never go beyond what you are capable of.” Soarin sighed and lowered his head to look at the floor. “But, I guess in a situation like this, that situation would be… reversed, you know?” Soarin looked into Braeburn’s eyes as he flashed him a trademark Wonderbolt smile. “I’ll trust you not to go over the top if you trust me to tell you when I’m uncomfortable. Deal?”
Braeburn, completely won over by his partner’s considerate answer, smiled as wide as his cheeks would allow before forcefully embracing Soarin around his hooves. “Thank you so much fer this, Soarin! I promise to stop if things go too crazy.” Soarin smiled as he wrapped his own forelegs around Braeburn, brushing his cheek against him.
After a moment of silently enjoying each other’s contact, Soarin asked “So, where’s the hive at?”

Braeburn unfurled and setted a large picnic blanket on the ground, covering up a patch of dry grass and dirt for more comfortable sitting, standing, and whatever else the two stallions had in mind. Soarin looked around the area surrounding the picnic blanket. There were some Autumn-stricken trees that surrounded them that dropped leaves at a consistent rate, as the desert wind hit both the branches and the manes of the ponies. The environment was a mix of both fertile and barren dirt, growing in some areas and more clear on others. By the trees, however, Soarin could hear a slight buzzing noise that sent a slight chill. Squinting at the nest’s general direction, he can see that the wasps were buzzing to and fro from the opening in the ground. The blanket’s position was far enough not to disturb the hive, but close enough to see the yellow jackets’ location.
Soarin let out a gasp when a wasp buzzed by his ear. He reeled back a bit away from the hive as Braeburn stifled a chuckle. “Ah used to be the same way. Ah thought that ah wouldn’t be caught dead messin’ with those varmints,” said Braeburn as he reached his foreleg around his friend’s neck to pull him closer. “But Ah promise that no harm’ll come ta you. They’ll be too busy stinging mah sweet ass to bother ya~” For some reason, Braeburn’s words helped Soarin cast a bit of his fears aside and get into the mood a bit. He stared at Braeburn’s backside as the cowpony flaunted it while walking toward the picnic basket. Content with the damage done and the food in its system, the wasp retracted its dagger and flew off.
