The Final Fall of the Crystal Empire
Dark fog covered the valley. Queen Luna and her daughter, Princess Moonshadow, gazed into it, Luna with her sword unsheathed, and Moonshadow with a bow around her back. Looming in the distance was the Crystal Empire, taken over once again by King Sombra.
“As you said the first time, mother. He is a true coward. He just sits there in his dark castle, he doesn't even bring the fight to us.” Moonshadow said, glaring at the black Crystal Empire.
“Indeed. Have you heard anything from Nightspell?” She nodded towards the castle.
“No, but here he comes now.” Luna glanced over to where Moonshadow was looking. Nightspell was galloping towards them, his right wing broken.
“The...the...elements…have failed.” He fainted as he got to them. He collapsed at Moonshadow’s hooves. Both Luna and Moonshadow looked at each other in horror.
“What?” they said in unison. Nightspell looked up, his face covered in scars and bleeding cuts.
“Mmhmm” he mumbled. Moonshadow looked at her husband, she kneeled and kissed him.
“Let me teleport you to the hospital wing. Mother and I will end his stay once and for all!” She ignited her horn but was stopped.
“No, I'm okay. I can finish this battle with you. I would rather die fighting beside you, then lie in a hospital bed hoping you'll come home.” He got up and took his wing in his magic. Healing it, he stretched it out. “Now I'm ready!” He looked at Moonshadow, determination in his eyes. Moonshadow smiled, tears forming in her eyes.
“I love you” she purred and nuzzled him. They all flew down to the smoky castle, crashing through one of the windows. An explosion of magic from all three of them lit the darkened castle.
“we will annihilate you Sombra!” Nightspell called out. Black and gold sias, were ready at his flanks. A red, silver, and black figure whizzed by them. The crystal he was riding pinned Luna against a wall. He turned to face Moonshadow and Nightspell, whose faces were surprised in horror. His scarlet red and sickening green eyes glared with evil intentions. With one blast, they crashed to the ground and dented the crystal floor beneath them.
“you cannot stand against three alicorn Sombra. winning isn't an option for you!” Luna screamed, and blasted the crystal that was pinning her. Her sword wheeled around, hitting Sombra’s scythe forcing him backward. Moonshadow and Nightspell stood up, straining. They looked at each other, panting. Looking up, they saw shards of crystals falling towards them. Nightspell shielded them as Moonshadow flew up, firing three arrows at Sombra. He spun his scythe and blocked them, he grinned widely. All three flew up and bolted toward him, Moonshadow firing arrow after arrow. Nightspell with his sias, and Luna with her sword. Sombra hit the ground with his scythe and crystals erupted from where it struck. They caught the three alicorns in mid-air and flung them back. Moonshadow and Nightspell hit the wall with such force, they passed out. However, Luna was encased in the crystal. She shattered it with a blast of magic. With one swift beat of her wings she rocketed toward Sombra⎯her sword out in front, ready to strike. She missed as Sombra engulfed himself with black flames. She landed with a thud, smoke swirled around her.
“show yourself! You black hearted coward!” she commanded. Looking around, a low menacing laugh echoed around her. Sombra appeared behind her, she worked around to face him. Just in time, their weapons clashed, sparks flew as they hit. She forced him back and jabbed her sword into his armored chest.
“It's over for good now Sombra! YIELD!” She hissed. Sombra only threw his head back and laughed. His eyes turning completely green, with a dark purple flame flowing from them. His horn flared and he flung her back with a swift hit of his scythe on her sword.
“So…MUCH…DARKNESS!” he stalked towards Luna. “You speak of how cowardly and dark I am. Have you forgotten the power I showed you last time?” he roars, and Luna strikes his scythe.
“I have redeemed myself from the past! And, I WILL kill you!” She head-butted him, making their horns collide.
“It seems like the gods still lack purity in their hearts. Even the daughter of one lacks it. can still taste the darkness that was once within you and it's DELICIOUS!” Throwing his head back, he cackles. Luna gritted her teeth, anger boiled within her. Her eyes filmed over.
“SILENCE! How dare you speak of my daughter that way!” she blasted him. But missed again and shattered another crystal.
Moonshadow and Nightspell awoke at the sound of crystals shattering. Looking at each other, they lifted their weapons. they broke free of their crystal bonds, bounding over to Luna’s side.
“Show yourself demon!” Luna demanded. The laugh came again, and a loud clattering bang of Sombra’s scythe hitting the crystal floor. Echoed through the castle. A black flame suddenly engulfed the three alicorns, leaving them in shock and fear.
“...No..” Luna gasped and took a few steps back. “Nightspell, please.” a figure that looked like Nightspell was walking towards her now. “It doesn't have to be like this! You can fight the darkness within you!” The creature was nose to nose with her now. Luna's eyes were turning green with the same purple flame Sombra had. The creature took a step back and opened its wings. Its horn lit with bright blue magic. For a split second, it flickered from the creature’s figure to Sombra. “NIGHTSPELL!” Luna cried out.
“Let her take over” Nightspell whispered in his head, hoping that Moonshadow would hear him through the dark magic rising in the both of them. Both Moonshadow and Nightspell let the dark magic from sombra take over them, feeding something deep within them. they let it surface, and be released. An arrow came spiraling through the air and sliced into Sombra’s back. He seethed and looked back. Two different alicorns stood in place, of Moonshadow and Nightspell.
“You think you found allies in this dark place? Do you really comprehend the powers you were GIFTED with all those years ago?” Both of them spoke in synced voices as they began to stalk towards Sombra. “Where do you think the demons of the night all go to hide from the rays of Celestia’s precious sun? Just who do you think stands and fights against them?” the black alicorn dropped the bow and picked up Sombra's scythe. contemplating it,she looked up with electric blue eyes. Sea green flames flowing from them. The scarlet one glowed in the darkness, picking up Luna’s sword. He looked straight at Somra with unblinking glowing red eyes, deep blue flames flowed from his. “What you possess is a mere fraction of their might ...the same might our love stands unyielding against each and every night.” Looking at him, their eyes glowing in the darkness.
“Sss..stay bbb… back!” Sombra stammered, as he fell backward. He tried to blast them, but the dark one blocked it with the scythe, her wings flying open.
“You are NOTHING compared to them. You are NOTHING compared to us!” she shot forward, pinning sombra with the scythe at his throat. The half bat, half feathered winged one beckoned the red one to follow. “YOU CLAIM TO KNOW FEAR, AND THE POWER OF NIGHT!? WE SHALL SHOW YOU TRUE TERROR AND THE TRUE POWER OF THE NIGHT! ” They hissed, revealing jagged fangs.
Sombra struggled to speak, as the scythe dug deep into his flesh.
“What…is.. this?” He struggled to say, his voice shaking with pure terror. Both of the alicorns chuckled.
“our love, the love of the night!” they both said.“You’re a fool to think you can defeat it!”
“RELEASE ME!” Sombra demanded. both alicorns chuckled.
“Why should we? “ the black one said.
“you have destroyed, this empire. As well as imprisoning the ponies that inhabited it, twice now. why should we give you another chance?” the red one questioned. Sombra looked at them, tried to blast them with magic. The sword that the male alicorn was holding, came whizzing past, and sliced his horn at the base. the scythe was taken off his neck, and he fell to the ground with a loud thud. Blood trickled down Sombra’s face as he looked up at the two alicorns, hovering above him. the scythe gleamed with the black ones magic, as it came swiftly down.
“Moonshad-” SLICE! went the scythe, cutting of Sombra’s head.

Luna awoke lying in a hospital bed, her horn wrapped in cloth. She gasped as she realized where she was.
“Moonshadow!?” She cried. Looking around terrified.
“Yes, mother?” Moonshadow walked over to her mother and asked one of the nurses to fetch Nightspell. Luna sighed in relief, as she saw her daughter at her side.
“Thank goodness you're alright.” She smiled and pulled back the covers with her hoof. “What happened to…”
“Sombra will never be a problem anymore, Your Highness.” Nightspell came trotting up beside Moonshadow.
“The empire is safe and restored. However, what did you see in your…your vision?” Moonshadow asked, her eyes darting. Luna closed her eyes and sighed.
“It was the night you were born, the nightmare split in two. One part of it, I think, went into you, and the other I'm not...” She was cut short as the couple looked down.
“The first half did go into me. Her name is Shadowedmoon.” Moonshadow, turned from a royal blue alicorn to a black one. With half feathered, half bat wings, her eyes, a deep icy electric blue. “No need to fear mother, as we are one. We know how to control ourselves.” The voice was a combination of a deeper voice and Moonshadow's.
“What about the other?” She looked at Nightspell.
“It's in me, but it turned to a male. Not a brother, but a totally different entity. His name's Shadow'sspell. We know how to control ourselves as well.” Nightspell's coat turned to a scarlet red and the skins of his wings turned black. His eyes a deeper red.
“How much dark power were we truly facing? So much that you two had to be consumed with it? “Luna sighed. “Well, I'm just grateful you two are unharmed and that you got us all out safely. Come, let us go, and tell our subjects what has happened.” With that, Luna, Moonshadow, and Nightspell walked out to address their subjects.
