"Hey Rainbow!" squealed Pinkie, barreling into the empty Wonderbolt Headquarters. It was one day before Hearts and Hooves Day, and boy was everypony excited!

"Hi Pinkie, guys" added Rainbow, seeing the others join her. She closed her locker door and trotted towards her friends, "What's up?"

"How 'bout we start with yer date fer tomorrow?" asked Applejack mischievously. Rainbow rolled her eyes. Rarity smirked at her and chuckled.

"We all know you have the hots for Soarin" exclaimed Rarity, as the others gushed. Rainbow blushed.

"I tell you, I don't like him. I mean, I like him, obviously, as a friend, but we're friends, just friends. I don't like him like him" rambled Rainbow Dash, as her friends just giggled.

Rainbow flew off in a rush, clearly embarrassed about the discussion. The girls huddled up.

"We have to help Rainbow. She needs a date for Hearts and Hooves Day" said Twilight. The others nodded. They all had dates, Twilight had Flash, Pinkie with Cheese, Fluttershy had Discord, Rarity went with Spike, and Applejack with Caramel. They couldn't leave their friend dateless, and they had a plan to get her with her dream guy!

Meanwhile, Soarin was waiting at the cafe for his Wonderbolt teammates. They were having the annual Wonderbolt Hearts and Hooves Day Aerial Formation Meeting. Rainbow Dash couldn't attend since she had to take Tank to the vet, after the pie incident. The door tinkled, and they Wonderbolts burst in, striking their signature moves. Soarin laughed and walked to greet them.

"Hey guys. Ready to discuss our moves for tomorrow?" asked Soarin. The Wonderbolts shared a look, which Soarin knew very well. It was the 'Let's get him a date' look.

"I know what you're thinking, and the answer is no way!" replied Soarin. The Wonderbolts groaned.

"It's about time Clipper. And I know just the mare!" said Spitfire, pointing a Fleetfoot. Soarin just growled loudly.

"I'm not ready. I like another mare " he mumbled. Fleetfoot squealed loudly.

"I KNEW IT! Hey, don't worry, I don't want to go out with you. Spitfire said that to make you confess" said Fleetfoot, "And you did! Lucky for you, I have amazing hearing!"

The other Wonderbolts started laughing and discussing which mare Soarin was in love with. High Winds just stood there with an amused expression.

"It's Rainbow Dash. I knew it ever since she saved Soarin's pie at the Gala" announced High. Soarin blushed, and looked away. The Wonderbolts burst out in chatter, about how cute they were together. Soarin just kept blushing furiously, protesting, but the others ignored him.

"I know just how to get them together" said Spitfire, grinning like a Cheshire Cat.

That night, the Wonderbolts ha done final run through of the routine before the day, and it was perfect.

"Hey Dash" said Soarin, after they finished practice.

"Oh, hey Soarin, you were awesome up there!" said Rainbow blushing.

"I uh," started Soarin. Ask her out you fool! he said to himself, "Wanted to give you your jacket. You left it behind"
He handed Rainbow her jacket. Rainbow's face a fell a little.

"Oh! Uh, thanks" she said, flying off. As she flew away, Soarin heard a loud groan from the bushes. His fellow Wonderbolts were hiding inside!

"It was the perfect moment!" groaned Misty. Soarin slammed his hoof on his face.

As Rainbow opened her door to her house, confetti exploded out of no where.

"Congratulations on getting your first date!" shrieked Pinkie. The girls rushed over to Rainbow and killed her with questions. Rainbow dodged them and sat down on the couch. The room had streamers and balloons all over, and pictures of her and Soarin. One of them caught her attention.

"What the heck is this meant to be?" she said, pointing at a poster of her kissing Soarin in a bed. Pinkie chucked.

"Too soon? The internet is a little too vast" she said giggling, as the others glared at her. Seeing Rainbow's upset expression, Fluttershy, trotted over to her.

"What's wrong Dashie? You seem quiet?" asked Fluttershy. Rainbow sighed. "Is it Soarin?" pressed Fluttershy. Rainbow was going to open her mouth to protest, was gave up, defeated, and nodded.

"Did he not ask you out?" Rainbow nodded. Fluttershy hugged her and patted her head, as the others stared in shock.

"How did you know that?" asked Rarity.

"Sometimes we all need a little love" Fluttershy smiled. Twilight couldn't stand to see Rainbow upset. She flew over and pulled down the posters.

"We're sorry for the pressure Rainbow. You don't have to get a date. It's our fault" said Twilight. Rainbow looked up.

"Really?"

"Absolutely!" Twilight and the others said goodnight and left.

The next day, the Wonderbolts all got ready for the performance. They did beautiful formations in the sky, even making a heart shape and 'coincidentally', Soarin and Rainbow were meant to fly through it. After the show, they all headed off to get ready for their dates. Rainbow sighed, looking at all the happy couples, wishing she had someone too. As if one cue, a handsome light blue pegasus with striking wild dark blue mane trotted onto the grand stage where the mayor was a moment ago.

"Um, hi everypony, I'm Soarin, just performed up there. Hope you liked it..." said Soarin nervously. Rainbow chuckled, and flew over into the crowds he was speaking to.

"Today is Hearts and Hooves Day, and I want to ask a very special mare out"

The crowds went wild, cheering and chanting Soarin's name. Rainbow's heart fell, knowing it wouldn't be her.

"Rainbow Dash, will you be my date for Hearts and Hooves Day?" Everypony froze, clearing the spot where Rainbow was standing. Soarin flew over to her, waiting for her response.

"Of course!" she exclaimed hugging him. The crowds gushed and left, leaving the two alone.

"Today at six?" he asked. Rainbow nodded, flying off.

Two hours earlier, Soarin was feeling really stupid. He was THIS close to asking Rainbow out and he ruined the moment! He buried his face in his hooves. He heard hoofsteps in front of him. He lifted his face to see the growling Wonderbolts.

"Soarin, you doofus. I know you're a fool, but you outdid yourself this time" said Spitfire sarcastically.

"Sorry" muttered Soarin.

"You should be. Now get out there and ask her!" yelled Fleetfoot. Soarin felt electricity burn through him. He wasn't going to waste the one chance he had. He was going to ask Rainbow out, even if it meant rejection.

Rainbow Dash flew home, and was so excited for her date, and this time, she would wear a dress, which Rarity was delighted about. Rainbow had her hair up in a bun, and wore a lovely navy blue dress, with golden stripes, and fluffy cloudlike material at the bottom. Meanwhile, Soarin wore a jet black tuxedo with rose pinned on. He quickly dashed out the door and went to go get Rainbow.

He waited patiently, and was astounded as she stepped out. Soarin may have been mistaken, but he could have sworn Rainbow was checking him out in awe as well.

"Ready to go?" asked Rainbow, snapping Soarin out of his trance.

"Yep" replied Soarin, extending his hoof for Rainbow. She took it smiling, and flew towards the restaurant. They simply enjoyed the night, relaxing and talking.

"What are you ordering?" asked Soarin. Rainbow thought.

"Apple pie" Soarin smirked.

"Wow"

"Well it was the first food which kind of drew us together" said Rainbow. Realizing what she said, she quickly covered her mouth. Soarin laughed and nodded, and they ordered a pie for both of them.

As they ate, Soarin decided it was the perfect time to tell Rainbow.

"Um, Dash, wanted to ask you something?" Rainbow nodded.

"I think I'm in love" As he said that, Rainbow's face fell.

"With who?" she asked sadly.

"You" replied Soarin. They didn't say another word, because they both leaned in a kissed passionetly. They broke apart, they smiled, at each other, blushing.

"FINALLY! THEY'RE AN ITEM" came a high pitched squeal from under the table.

Soarin and Rainbow turned to see their friends, the Elements of Harmony and the Wonderbolts.

This time, Soarin and Rainbow ignored them, and leaned in for another kiss.

"This is perfect" whispered Rainbow.

"Love you" said Soarin.

"Love you too"
