It was a beautiful morning in Ponyville, the sun was just about to come up but a few rays could be seen peeking over the horizon. The clouds had been prepared the day before to be in the shape of hearts that dotted the sky. The only thing in the sky above Ponyville was the beautiful cloud home of Soarin and Rainbow Dash. The rainbow waterfalls gently cascaded over the side of the amazingly crafted cloud house. Inside the luxurious home were two married pegasi, the stallion, Soarin, was the co-captain of the Wonder Bolts and the mare, Rainbow Dash, was currently on maternity leave from the weather team. There was a third pegasus in the house but it was currently developing in Dash's womb for another month.
Inside the fabulous master bedroom, under the covers of the eccentric king sized bed were the two sleeping residents of the house. As the sheets began to shuffle, Soarin's green eyes began to slowly squeak open with a long yawn. He smacked his lips and groaned as he stretched as much as could with a pregnant mare cuddled up close to him. When he was finished he looked down at the multi hued mane close to his muzzle and gently nuzzled into it, getting a good whiff of her apple scented mane. He sighed in contentment, burying his muzzle in the sweet scent of his wife's mane and gently rubbed her swollen abdomen and felt a little kick from the foal inside and gave a soft smile. Soarin still couldn't believe he was going to be a father in a month. Before he drifted back to sleep he realized what day it was and his eyes shot open, Ohh buck, today's Hearts and Hooves Day! Hope I can get everything ready before she wakes up! Soarin carefully shimmied his way out of their embrace and put his pillow in his place, wishing he could be in that pillows place again as Dash snuggled up to it, thinking it was her big strong stallion. He resisted the urge and gently kissed her forehead, "Happy Hearts and Hooves Day Dashie, love you." He whispered into her ear. Her lips curled into a soft smile and she nuzzled the pillow even deeper. Soarin envied that pillow as Dash held onto it gently but firmly, he really wanted to be in that pillow's place but he had things to do for his special somepony.
Soarin glided down the stairs towards the kitchen and grabbed a bag off the top shelf and landed in front of a counter that was between the large sink and the stove. The bags contents were for his beloved Dashie, he went all out this year for his wife. He got a large chocolate heart with rich, creamy caramel in the middle, one of her pregnancy cravings, that had the words 'I Love You' on it in big fancy letters. He was excited when he found it due to how much she loved it and how it was the last one. Before he pulled anything else out he remembered the flowers he had ordered to be dropped off on his back porch.
Opening the back door he sighed as the gentle breeze of early morning blew against his baby blue coat. The sun still hadn't risen yet but it was close, Hope I can finish this so we can see the sunrise together, with that in mind he looked around and spotted the beautiful bouquet of flowers he ordered, they were navy blue, baby blue, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and cyan, some were even rainbow stripped and none had thorns as to not hurt anypony by accident. They were arranged in the shape of a heart with a banner that said 'Happy Hearts and Hooves Day'. The real prize was the biggest rose in the middle that had rainbow colored petals and with navy blue and baby blue stripes along it like a candy cane that had a certain glow to it. He carefully picked it up and carried it back inside, where the rest of his treats were waiting to be placed about. As the morning progressed, Soarin quickly got out the eggs and a pan.
Half n' hour later and Soarin had a delicious breakfast for him and Dashie (mostly for Dashie) that consisted of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs with gooey cheese on top, two half-cut apples with peanut butter and chocolate spread on them, and to finish it off, two glasses of homemade apple juice. After placing everything on a tray he grabbed the chocolate heart and the other treats he got for her, smaller sweets. He didn't have room for the flowers so he decided to make two trips but before that he got the rose petals he purchased and placed them around his perfect breakfast. He was so proud of himself for making it, he almost didn't want to eat it and just let Dash have it but there was no way she was going to finish all of it on her own, even if she was heavily pregnant. He picked the tray up with his teeth and carefully glided upstairs. When he entered their room, Dash was still holding onto the pillow and cuddling it, only this time she had her head stuffed into it like it was his chest. He was really starting to envy that pillow and how it got to get cuddled by the prettiest mare in Equestria. Pushing that thought aside, he put the tray on a small table and zipped out the room and flew down stairs as fast as he could so she wouldn't wake up from the aroma of eggs and cheese. Once he had his flowers, he zoomed up stairs and placed the flowers behind the tray, facing her so the banner and big flower were facing her. Once he had the big heart leaning against the bouquet he gently clapped his hooves together in triumph, almost wanting to just have Dash have it all, but there was no way she could eat all this even if she was 10 months pregnant.
Flying to his side of the bed and taking the pillow with some difficulty due to her grip, he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers with all the passion he could give in one kiss. When she started to stir, he gently pressed his tongue into her mouth with little resistance since she knew exactly what was coming. Soarin began gently exploring her mouth and caressing her tongue with his own. Once she was awake enough, Dash began to slowly caress the inside of his mouth and moaned when he started rubbing her belly and wings. Once their oxygen began to run out, Dash pulled away slowly, savoring the feeling of Soarin's warm breath splash against her face.
"Good morning beautiful. Happy Hearts and Hooves Day angel, just wanted to wake you up in a special way since it's a special day and I... kinda.. forgot, it was Hearts and Hooves Day, and I forgot to get you something." Soarin lied, hoping it would only make her reaction that much more amazing after she finished chewing him out about forgetting.
"It's alright, I don't need anything other than you and those belly rubs you're so good at giving." Dash said with a yawn and began stretching as much as she could. Soarin looked shocked, Did she just... forgive me for forgetting an important date?, he couldn't believe it, "Anyway, the look on your face when I give you your present is all the gift I'll need today." She said, snuggling closer to him. Soarin just laid there and thought about how easily he got off the hook, and the fact Dash got him something, she normally just got him a pie from Apple Jack, which he greatly appreciated, that he'd see the morning of. Once he regained his senses he nuzzled back and began to rub her stomach a little more passionately.
"Hey, would you like to go get breakfast or something, I'm sure we can find something." Soarin was just adding to it as he and Dash separated, "What or where would you like?" Soarin asked with a smirk.
"Why don't you pick, I don't mind as long as we go together." She was just full of surprises today. Soarin gently kissed her cheek and helped her up, her back was facing his gift and he had every intention on turning her around. "What's that really good smell? I smelled it when you woke me up." Soarin smiled with excitement and gently began turning her around while she wore a confused expression, "What are y-" She gasped when she saw the display. Soarin's smile grew with excitement, Dash just sat there in aw at the display before her, but what really got her attention was the big rose in the middle of all the flowers. "S-Soarin? What is this, I thought you said you forgot? When did you have time to do all of this?" She said, taking her eyes away from the beautiful gift before and looking Soarin in his deep green ones.
"I woke up before you, realized the date, slipped out and made a breakfast Princess Celestia herself would be jealous of. I just wanted to see your reaction to it after you chewed me out but you didn't and the look on your face is priceless. I wish- mphh" Soarin was cut off when Dash lunged forward and mashed their lips together in a deep, passionate kiss he gladly returned. They kissed for several minutes until they both thought they were gonna pass out from lack of oxygen. "Wow Dashie, if that was my gift, so much better than a pie." He gently nuzzled her neck when she turned and looked at the breakfast on the tray. It was all her favorites and the big heart against the flowers looked delicious but she couldn't believe he did this all for her. When Soarin noticed she wasn't nuzzling back he looked up and heard her belly give a very low growl. He smiled and stood up, placing a kiss on her neck and trotting over to the tray. Carefully picking it up with his teeth he brought it over and set it down on the bed in front of her.
Dash gave a small giggle when a fake rose petal got stuck to his nose and he had to sneeze three times to get the itch away, "You alright?"
"Fine. Just an itch. Anyway, you want to eat now or wait until the little one starts kicking you for food?" The tease made Dash laugh, but was followed by a kick that made Dash grunt a little. Before she could blink, Soarin was right next to her and rubbing her belly, she joined him and began stroking her swollen abdomen, feeling another little kick. "I think the foal choose for you babe." Soarin chuckled and nuzzled her stomach and in a baby tone, "Are you hungry little guy? I bet you can smell it from in there huh? If you come out you can actually eat it, when your older and you have teeth, but you need to come out soon, we want to see you. Also mommy's getting a little moody and- OW." Dash thumped him in the head and playfully glared down at him, "Alright, let's eat."
After a very delicious breakfast, Soarin began to clean up and take their dirty dishes down stairs and put them in the sink. Back up stairs in the bedroom, Dash was stroking her belly in contentment, Soarin knew how to make the best meals in Ponyville, save for Pinkie and Apple Jack. She giggled when she felt another little, light kick, apparently their foal agreed with that statement. Opening her eyes she looked over the beautiful arrangement of colorful, sweet smelling flowers, I can't believe he did this all for me. I hope my gift is acceptable. Pushing that thought aside for the moment, she looked out the big sliding glass doors that lead to the balcony and saw the beautiful sunrise illuminating the morning sky and the few heart shaped clouds. Finding the energy to roll over and stand up, Dash slowly walked over and opened the door, being greeted by the gentle morning breeze and gave a sigh. She walked farther out to the railing and looked over at the stunning site of Ponyville being light up by the sun and the few early birds with their loved one down in the streets of Ponyville. She smiled as the gentle breeze kicked up ever so slightly, she missed the feeling of wind against her fur and wings, she missed the feeling of flying through the air at amazing speeds, and she wouldn't trade her foal for that no matter how much she missed it. No matter what some ponies thought about her, she really did love her foal more than life and flying.
Soarin was walking into their room and froze as soon as he noticed Dash was gone. He went into panic mode and frantically looked around, spotting the balcony door had been opened. He rushed towards it and sighed with relief when he saw her sitting on the cloud bench. He gave a gentle smile when he saw her wings open and how the gentle breeze tossed her mane around softly, he began walking up to her and heard a sigh escape. Carefully he walked up right behind her and stood on his hind legs, wrapping his front hooves around her neck and kissed her ear. He heard a small squeak followed by a moan escape her and he started gently moving his hooves while keeping his weight off her with his wings. His left hoof went to a wing and gently rubbed and massaged gently, his right hoof trailed down and stroked her belly.
"I wish we could stay like this forever, but it's my turn to give you your gift my love." Dash cooed. Even though Soarin was greatly enjoying this moment with his Dashie, he would do anything for her, so, abiding to her request, he let go and stood all four hooves. "Thanks babe. Umm, could you... uhh.. help me get to the downstairs balcony, my gifts are there." Dash asked with a slight blush. Soarin smiled and nuzzled her gently, he grabbed her sides and began to help her turn around. Once she was turned and off the bench, she leaned against him and they both began walking into their bedroom, down the stairs, and out onto the lower balcony. Dash rubbed her cheek against his shoulder as a thank you and pushed off him.
"Soooo, what in Equestria could you possibly get me this time? I've already got everything I'd ever want." Soarin said with a gentle smile.
"Oh yeah, like what?"
"Well, a very beautiful, loving wife that puts up with me all the time no matter what stupid thing I do, and she's about to bless me even more with a little foal I get to spoil rotten. What else could a pony want in life." Soarin stated.
"I know one thing you don't have that I feel really bad about."
"Oh Dashie, what could that be?"
"A wife that.." She walked over to the small table were there was a tray with a silver lid on it. Soarin tilted his head, he hadn't seen it when he came to get his flowers. She hopped up on the chair next to it and took the lid off with her mouth. Soarin's eyes widened slightly a she finished her sentence, "... knows how to make her husband's favorite treat. I've been taking lessons from Apple Jack on how to make your favorite apple treats, it got a little hard since I'm so pregnant and can't get around on my own that much, but now I can make you apple pie. She taught me how to cook better to so I can cook for you more often and it will actually be tasty. I hope you like it." Dash said sheepishly. Soarin didn't know what to say, there, in the middle of the tray, was a big, warm apple pie that had the Wonder Bolts symbol in the middle and a big glass of milk with chocolates around it.
"You learned how to cook... for me?" He was astonished, his Dash hated cooking and would never ask somepony for help.
"Well, you're the one that always cooks and when I do it's not as good as yours, and you always say how much you love AJ's pies, so.. you want to try it now or... wait till I'm not looking and get rid of it?"
Soarin looked at her with a confused expression, "Wha-"
"It's not gonna hurt my feelings if you say you don't want it."
"Dashie, I would love to try it." Soarin walked over to her and the smell was intoxicating, he could smell the cinnamon and the gooey apples. Once he got to her he nuzzled her shoulder gently and kissed her cheek. Dash giggled and took the fork on the tray and got a bite for him to try. She held it up to his muzzle and he eagerly opened his mouth to let the gooey treat into it. When Dash put the bite into his mouth, his taste-buds exploded. It was the best thing he'd ever eaten in his life. He moaned in satisfaction and his eyes rolled into the back of his head. When he reluctantly had to swallow, he grabbed Dash and gave her a bear hug. "OH Dashie, that was the best thing I've ever had put in my mouth. God I love you so much!"
"Soarin, I love you too but I can't breath and you're crushing me." Soarin immediately loosened his grip and nuzzled her neck. "Awww, Soar, I'm glad you like it." Soarin hopped up and wrapped his hooves and wings around her. She buried her head in his chest fluff and sighed. "I love you Soar." He gave a small nod in acknowledgment. They stayed like that for a while. Dash burring her head in his fluffy chest and Soarin began stroking her belly and peppering her in kisses everywhere he could reach.
The day went on, Soarin finished his pie in less than two minutes and got a belly ache. Dash spent the day cuddled up to him and buried in his chest, side, and, occasionally, found herself nestled under his large wings he used to cocoon her. Today had been a day to remember, Dash cooked a delicious dinner that consisted of scrumptious burgers and hay fries.
This Heart's and Hooves day had been the best one so far..... or until their foal was born, but that'll be next year.
