It was an average day in Ponyville. Ponies were out doing their daily grind, readily preparing themselves for whatever their schooling might have, or just casually maxing and relaxing all cool, like our local story focus here, Octavia Melody and her lover, Vinyl Scratch. These two musical ponies most often seen in the background were just relaxing at home today, the two of them gathered in the living room and watching TV.

Octavia had worn a dark pink sweater that hugged her figure surprisingly tight, accented somewhat by matching slippers and white pants. Vinyl herself was wearing a white t-shirt that lacked one of her shoulders, showing off the strap of her black bra. She also wore jean shorts and black slippers, and currently watched the TV upside-down on the couch, letting her stomach be exposed to the camera for the sake of none other than fanservice. The door didn't take long to ring though, and Octavia decided that she should answer it. Not to say Vinyl couldn't do it, but more along the lines of how she didn't want whoever was at the door to be either scared away or too turned on to speak right. Opening it up, however....

"Heya!" Rainbow Dash greeted as she gave Octavia a little salute with her hand above her right eye. This tomboy pegasus was dressed in a tight, white tank top and black, latex booty-shorts. Her lithe frame didn't exactly leave a lot to work with when it came to such an outfit, but Rainbow had always relied on such a figure. To quote her, 'I don't need to be thick to be hot'.

"Hello, Rainbow. How might I help you today?" Octavia greeted rather casually, thinking to herself that Rainbow needed them for something. Based on the confused expression on Rainbow's face though, that didn't appear to be the case.

"Uh...Vinyl invited me to hang out, said it was 'for reasons'?" the prismatic pegasus answered, making Octavia look the fool for this one shot. When the classical mare looked towards the couch, she found only a blinking, white outline of Vinyl's body where it last was.

"He-hey, RD. Glad ta have ya, come on in!" Vinyl welcomed their apparent guest into the house, Octavia looking quite dumbfounded for the time being before just sighing and moving on. She should've figured that Vinyl would consider inviting some guests at some point, but she didn't think it would be during the day.

"This isn't a booty call, is it, Vinyl?" Octavia asked with a very stern expression. She looked more like a mother to Vinyl than a girlfriend with a face like that. The DJ just gave a little smile and scratched one of her ears.

"Don't worry about it, babe. You're not the kinda pony I'd ever cheat on, I swear!" Vinyl answered, though she certainly didn't look very worried about it. She instead chuckled a little bit and Octavia just sighed, massaging her temples a little as Rainbow Dash just shrugged her shoulders. Vinyl levitated a soda from the fridge to her prismatic friend, clinking another soda can with her as they watched whatever was on. Octavia sat in a comfortable-arm chair with a casual expression on her face.

Together, the trio of ponies casually went and watched a good show of the Wonderbolts doing their usual aerial acrobatics. Many of them looked to be pushing themselves rather hard, and Rainbow looked especially interested in just how much they'd push. Octavia noticed this and thought to herself about why she seemed so happy. Of course, it took her a good, long moment to remember the main reason Rainbow was so happy to see them in the first place.

"So Dash, when's the next major meetup for your Wonderbolt show?" Vinyl asked her. Leave it to Vinyl to ask the major questions that Octavia didn't know how to ask.

"Funny story, it's actually coming up around next week. It's gonna be so awesome, I swear!" Rainbow smiled happily, looking like her face was about to explode in happiness at any moment.

"I see" Octavia mused, blinking at her enthusiasm.

"Hey, it's been something I've always wanted to do, and it's so much more satisfying knowing that I'm doing it now. That ever happen to you guys, or are you still waiting for it?" Rainbow then asked, to which Vinyl smirked and stood up, sauntering on over towards Octavia and wrapping her arms around her shoulders, nuzzling into her cheek with an equally cheeky smile.

"You tell me" Vinyl said as Octavia couldn't help but find a reason to smile as well. She brought a hand up and casually started to caress the DJ's face a little bit, giving Dash a rather sweet moment to admire.

"Aww" Dash mused as Vinyl laughed a little bit. The two ponies looked so adorable together.

"Yup. Wanted to be living with this work of art since high school" Vinyl cooed rather sickeningly sweet. Dash couldn't help but think to herself that Vinyl was just...too cheesy sometimes. Part of her wondered if Twilight thought about jokes and lines the same way as quesadillas.

"Actually...I don't think I ever heard about how you two met in the first place. How did that end up happening?" Rainbow then asked, thinking to herself that it could prove entertaining.

"Well, it's certainly something I never thought would happen. Unfortunately for me though, here we are" Octavia joked, though Vinyl seemed unphased by the bad attempt at humor.

"Come on, you know you love me" Vinyl teased, poking the side of the earth mare's face afterward. Octavia gave a little chuckle at her and simply sighed in relief afterwards.

"So anyway, it was probably one of the best times in high school I'd had when we first hooked up and all" Vinyl then started as she took a seat on the couch again, sitting right next to her prismatic friend with a big smile on her face and a glint in her eyes. Before any of them even knew it, the screen started swirling, showing them a series of flashbacks in reverse before eventually finding themselves at a high school proper. This would be where the story began.
