//-------------------------------------------------------// Sunset to Twilight -by Real_Harmony Sparkle- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// What Happens at Sunset //-------------------------------------------------------// What Happens at Sunset Ever since Twilight had transferred from Crystal Prep Acadamy to Canterlot High School, Sunset's feelings for the nerdy teenager grew stronger and stronger. She tried telling herself it was only a slight attraction, nothing more, but those eyes, that hair, that smile! Everything about this girl was perfect. Of course, this Twilight obviously reminded Sunset of the Twilight Sparkle from Equestria, but there were some significant differences between the two girls. For instance, Princess Twilight was the Princess of Friendship, a pony from another world, and an expert on Friendship Magic. Meanwhile, human Twilight Sparkle was more nerdy, extremely new to Friendship and magic, and wore glasses. Sunset found this new Twilight a bit more attractive than the pony princess, though she wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because they were so similar? They had both let magic turn them into monsters, then later into something beautiful. They both dealt with often reminders of their pasts and were both relatively new to Friendship. It didn't take long before Sunset realized that these feelings for Twilight weren't going away. She has always been a Bisexual, but she never thought she would be so attractive to another female. Sunset was nervous about admitting her feelings to Twilight, however. Would she say yes? Would she reject her? Would a possible rejection affect their friendship? All these questions were answered on the eighteenth of March, in their Chemistry class, Sunset finally worked up the nerve to ask her lab partner, Twilight Sparkle, out. She was rewarded with a very loud,"YES!" and a new girlfriend. The two girls even inspired other couples to step out of the shadows. Now, on their two-year anniversary, Sunset is ready to take their relationship to the next level. But how to ask her? Twilight smiled as she swung back and forth on the porch-swing. The two had moved into a small house together a year after becoming a couple. Twilight was texting Rarity while star-gazing. Rarity: So, you and Sunny have your two-year anniversary tomorrow! You must be excited! Twilight: Yea, I am! She told me she has a "big surprise," for me...I wonder what it is? Rarity: Sounds romantic! What did you get her? Twilight: Tickets to see the live action version of our favorite movie,"Beauty & the Beast"! She has been dying to see it. I hope it's as good as the animated film. Rarity: Aww! Why is that your favorite movie? If you don't mind me asking. Twilight: Well, we've always connected with the story and characters a lot. Rarity: Makes sense. Correct me if I'm wrong, but would a certain, Timber Spruce, be your Gaston, Belle? Haha. Twilight: Sigh...Unfortunately...yes. Rarity: Sorry darling. Hey, Jackie is calling me to bed, and we do have school tomorrow. So, I'll talk to you later. Bye! Twilight: Okay, haha. Bye! Just as Twilight stood to head inside, she received another text message. Timber S: Still with Sunset? Twilight: Yes, Timber! Please stop texting me! Rolling her eyes, Twilight walked inside and went into the living room where Sunset was on the couch watching Say Yes to the Dress on TV. Twilight threw her phone on the table and sat next to her girlfriend with a huff,"Uh...is there something wrong, Twi?" Twilight knew from the get-go how protective Sunset was and would be with her, so she never brought up Timber's messages. After seeing the glares Sunset had given him at Camp Everfree, she knew not to tell her girlfriend about it. Unfortunately, she feared that Timber knew this too. "Uh...nothing!" Twilight nervously exclaimed, a large and phony smile on her face, eyes wide with fear and worry. "Right..." Sunset raised an eyebrow with suspicion, but nonetheless, she dropped the subject for now,"Well, anyways, I was thinking that we could have a date night tomorrow after school since it's Friday and our two-year anniversary." "Sure! Sounds great!" Twilight smiled as she relaxed and leaned against her girlfriend, who instinctively wrapped her arms around her,"So, why are you watching a show about wedding gowns? Since when has that been your thing?" Twilight asked, looking up at Sunset, who instantly bit her lip. "I just...there was nothing else on!" She replied quickly. "Okay..." Twilight shrugged and looked back at the screen, letting herself relax and calm down. Sunset only sighed. How was she gonna do this? "How am I gonna do this?! What if this is all too much for her?!" Sunset continued to rant as she paced around the band room, while her friends watched in slight amusement. They could all see how Twilight had rubbed off on her. "Hon, ah think ya might be over reactin' a tad. Ya'll have been together longer than any of us! Two years specifically. I bet she'll be just thrilled to take things to the "next level," so to speak!" Applejack replied with a smile. "I guess...but I want to make tonight extra special, but I don't know how!" Sunset added, rubbing her temples. Rarity only laughed. "Oh is that all?! That's the easy part! All you have to do is take her to do her favorite things, and when the time is just right, pop the question!" "That's not very detailed advice, sweetheart," Applejack giggled as she wrapped her arms around her girlfriend's waist. "Actually...I think I have an idea!" Sunset chimed with a smile. "I speak words of inspiration, not instruction!" Rarity smirked while looking up at AJ, who laughed as she rolled her eyes. "Hey guys, I found the yearbook from your sophomore year, though I still don't understand why you wanted me to find it..." Twilight said as she entered the room and adjusted her glasses, a confused look on her face. "Oh well, 'cause...uh..." Rainbow started but stopped, no excuses in her head at the moment,"Oh! Cause Rarity wanted to make outfits for us that reminisce about the past!" Rainbow blurted, before taking the book and shoving it in Rarity's arms. "Oh yes...very convincing," Discord whispered in Rainbow's ear, who responded by punching him in the shoulder. Fluttershy and Pinkie stifled a laugh. "Oh...well why couldn't she get it herself? Not that I minded doing it I just...I'm curious." Twilight asked, now more confused than ever. "I was busy helping Jackie here with uh...chemistry homework!" Rarity replied, with a nervous smile. "We didn't have chemistry homework last night..." "Oh for Celestia's sake Twilight you got me the book like we asked. Just stop asking questions!" Rarity snapped, making everyone flinch at the outburst. Twilight instantly shut up and walked to Sunset. "Oh, I'm sorry Twilight. I got carried away there." Rarity said with a blush after a moment of awkward silence. "No problem. So, third period is starting soon...shouldn't we head to class?" Twilight asked, her voice quieter than normal. Rarity bit her lip, she knew Twilight had forgiven her, but that what she said still hurt her. "Yeah...ugh I hate my biology class," Sunset groaned,"I would rather be learning about Equestrian and Friendship Magic. Not boring old regular human life." "Come on Sunny! It can still be fun!" Twilight urged, gently bumping her stomach with her elbow. "Yeah yeah...let's go before the bell rings." "...and we finally got to leave class early because Mrs. Cherrilee couldn't get all of the flying oranges out of the classroom!" Fluttershy finished, sending everyone around the broken horse statue into a fit of laughter. Fluttershy had been telling another story about Discord's pranks on the teacher that had taken place in their fourth-period English class that day. "Did you get in trouble?" Pinkie asked, then blushed as she felt her girlfriend's hand slip behind her, laying on her bottom. She looked over to see Rainbow smirking with only slight color to her cheeks. "I'm the only one who has chaotic magic in this school, so I was the only suspect. Of course, they know by now that I'm only playing harmless pranks, so I only got another warning." Discord replied, a sly smile on his face. "Well, it's best that Twi and I be going, we have a few...plans," Sunset smirked as she took her girlfriend's hand. "Alright, see you guys soon!" Rarity replied with a smile. "Happy Anniversary!" everyone called to the couple as they departed toward Sunset's car. "So, who wants to spy on the couple to see how the engagement goes?" Rainbow asked, and everyone laughed and nodded before heading to their own vehicles. "That was a really great movie Twi, thanks for taking me," The couple walked out of the theater after watching "Beauty & the Beast," which turned out to be a really good movie compared to the animated version. "You're welcome, though my curiosity has finally taken over me. So I must ask, what's your surprise for me?" Twilight asked, making both girls blush. "Well...just follow me," Sunset replied with a smirk taking her girlfriend's hand, and pulling her toward their car. It was a short drive to Canterlot's town park, where Sunset had her friends help set up a special date. When they arrived at the park, Sunset took out a bandanna and blindfolded Twilight, before leading her through the park,"Sunset why couldn't I just close my eyes?!" Twilight complained with a dry laugh. "Because this is more fun!" Sunset replied with a laugh,"Besides, we're almost there! Just a little further!" "Okay..." After a few more minutes of walking, Sunset stopped her girlfriend in front of her surprise. "Ready?" "As I'll ever be I guess..." Sunset reached back and pulled the bandanna from Twilight's eyes. Twilight gasped,"Oh my gosh!" Sunset had taken her to a candlelit picnic under the park's gazebo, the most romantic spot in town. The gazebo had been decorated with roses and ferns, as well as a radio set off to the side that was playing soft, but romantic music,"Sunset...this is beautiful! I love it!" Twilight teared up slightly, and practically jumped into Sunset's arms,"Thank you so much!" Sunset laughed and kissed the lavender teen on her cheek, before leading her to the gazebo, and set her down at the table, before sitting across from her. "So you put all this together?" Twilight asked, gesturing to the fruit salad, regular salad, vegetarian spaghetti, and cookies that were spread out across the table separating the couple. "Well, the girls helped, but for the most part, yeah," Sunset replied as she placed another strawberry in her mouth. "This really was a nice surprise, and to have a romantic dinner like this at sunset? Perfect!" Twilight giggled as she took another sip of her water. For the most part, the two had finished eating and were mostly talking. Sunset meanwhile, gasped slightly at the mention of the time, she looked over to see the sun setting over the pond that was laying a few yards from the gazebo they were under. She knew then, that if this was to be a perfect moment, she had to seize the opportunity,"Hey Twilight?" "Yes?" Twilight returned, looking up with an oblivious, but happy smile. "You wanna...go for a walk? I'd like to talk to you..." Twilight had heard that sentence before, but only in movies. It usually led to breakups. Since she had never been in a relationship before, or even really had friends before. She didn't know any different. "I...o-okay..." She stuttered, slowly standing from her chair. Sunset gave her a warm smile as she took Twilight's hand, and led her down to the water, where they began slowly walking alongside the water. At first, the two were silent, and Sunset was scared. Her mind was racing. Will she say yes? Twilight, on the other hand, was terrified, was Sunset about to leave her?! The thought made her want to cry. She laid her head on Sunset's shoulder, savoring what could be the last moment with the only girl who had ever truly cared for her. Is she about to leave me?! "Twilight...I...I have something to tell you..." Sunset stated suddenly, breaking the seemingly endless silence. Twilight gulped. "Y...yes Sun-Sunset...?" Twilight was stammering now, holding back tears of what she thought was coming. "I...I want to change...our relationship status." Twilight stopped walking, and her tears began to flow freely. "No...please...don't leave me!" The teen broke down, she felt her legs turn to jelly. "Well I- What?" Sunset's mindset changed instantly, what did Twilight think she was about to ask? "Please! I can't lose you! Whatever I did I'm sorry!" "Twilight! Sweetie, I'm not breaking up with you! Quite the opposite actually..." Twilight looked up from the ground. "You...you aren't?" Twilight sniffed and wiped her eyes. "I would never dream of such a thing. In fact...I wanted to ask..." Sunset dropped slowly to one knee and pulled out a small, red velvet box. Twilight's mouth dropped. "Sunset...are you...?" "Twilight, you're my everything. the reason I wake up in the morning, and you make my life complete, so I ask for your hand and ask to spend the rest of your life with me. Twilight Sparkle, will you marry me?" Sunset opened the box as she spoke, revealing a solid gold band with a blue sapphire on it. Tears were falling once again from the lavender teen's eyes, but this time, they were happy tears. "Yes! Yes, of course, I will!" Sunset smiled as she placed the ring on Twilight's finger, and stood, wrapping her fiance in a hug, before pressing her lips passionately against Twilight's, all just a the sun set over the water. "Aww!!!!" the chorus of voices was suddenly heard from behind a large group of bushes, and all of their friends popped out from behind them. Rarity and Fluttershy were crying happy tears, and everyone else was cheering. "Congrats girls! We're so happy for you!" Pinkie called as the group headed in the couple's direction. "Thanks!" They replied with bright smiles. "So let me see the ring!" Rarity exclaimed with a giggle, and Twilight extended her hand toward her friend, who smiled at the ring on her finger,"Goodness! Five karats! Though, sapphire?" "To remind us of our time at Camp Everfree." Sunset giggled. The moment was perfect, and nothing could ruin it for anyone. Of course, for one person, in particular, the moment disgusted him, and he was determined to do something about it. "Soon Twilight. Soon." Timber whispered, before walking from his spot behind the trees back toward his truck. Author's Note Technically that was a cliffhanger so...book two? Let me know in the comments!
