Author's Note

So for now chapters will be around 2000 going in this order: Earth,Equestria,Earth,Equestria, etc. This won’t last to long until I get more free time which will be in a month or two maybe.

Butting heads

A few hours later in the abandoned warehouse district.

Johnathan Tark sat on one of the many warehouses that stood outside the city, looking at his slightly damaged helmet. After confronting his former squadmate, and giving him a run for his money, he was forced to retreat when he was given a surprise arrow to the face. So here he was, holding his helmet in his hands, allowing anyone who would walk up here to see his mangled and disfigured face. He looked at his left visor, which had a hole and several cracks, cringing at how it looked. He had one of his personal Tore smokes in his mouth, breathing some of it into his mouth as he clicked a button on the back of his helmet, causing the back half of his helmet to snap up, revealing the many wires and hinges that kept his helmet together. He played around with it, eventually managing to remove the damaged visor with a pop. He threw the old visor behind him, taking the cigarette out of his mouth and breathing out a big puff of smoke.

“Even with those new moves Keen,” He mumbled, starting to twirl his finger around the smoke, “,it wasn’t enough to stop my plan from coming into fruition. Now I’ll have the perfect place to train that naive girl.” As he finished twirling his finger around, a replica of the visor he just threw out fell into his hand, this one in perfect condition. As he put it back in his helmet, he started to chuckle, realizing what he just said. “Wow...even for me that was cliche...am I losing my edge?”

As he asked himself that, his visors lit up with a bright blue glow, the helmet itself lightly humming. He snapped the two pieces back into one, quickly putting it back on. He made sure to go through all the helmet’s functions to make sure nothing was malfunctioning, and sure enough, everything was in working order. The helmet’s front lower portion slide down, allowing him to put the cigarette back in his mouth, much to his delight. “No no, don’t be ridiculous. Now let’s see if anything interesting is on right now.”

Using a basic software program he got from a trusted black market dealer, he flipped through the channels on television, his visors acting like personal screens for him. He kept surfing until a certain news broadcast caught his eye, one about that trashy school “Sunset Shimmer” went to.

“As the police department reveals more information about the confrontation between the new Canterlot High student “Diamond Breaker” and known delinquent “Lightning Dust”, we can still only scratch our heads at it.” The not very memorable news anchor explained, “As the police described outside the local Canterlot hospital, “We now know Miss Dust was on some substance as the encounter went down. We are not fully sure of the exact substance as of now, but we do know it does not match anything in our database so far.”. This along with the strange roars heard last night have got the entire community of Ponyville rilled up. Here we are at the mayor's office in Canterlot where a small protest is going on with our-”

By that point, Frostbite had grown bored of the newscast and turned it off, but he still had a small smile on his face. “I see I don’t have to even get involved for my old comrades to get into trouble. Some things never change I suppose...”. Old memories started to flood his mind of him and his squadmates before Haven ever happened, making his smile even bigger. “What I wouldn’t give to go back and change it all...”.

As he looked up at the sky, he realized that it was a full moon. Dread sank into him, killing what happy feelings he was having at the moment. He had almost forgotten that a full moon meant He would be calling soon. “Ugh...welp...might as well get it over with.”. Now able to properly prepare himself, Frostbite braced himself as he felt a course of new energy flow through his veins. Soon his body was glowing orange instead of his regular bright blue glow, one of the many things he gained through a deal, but it came with this unfortunate side effect, becoming a living interdimensional phone. He snapped his fingers, all the orange energy exiting through his hand and onto the grassy floor. It quickly took shape, morphing into an...orange unicorn of all things.

The thing was about as large as an average horse, it’s horn a little too big for Frostbite’s liking. It looked around for a moment, taking in its surroundings before looking at Frostbite. “It’s about time ape. I called you two days ago and got nothing!” Its voice was rough and metallic, just like his, disturbingly accurate to be exact.

Frostbite’s mood almost instantly went sour from just that one line, but he knew he had to keep his cool. So taking a deep breath, he came up with a calm and collected response. “Have you already forgotten the rules you yourself made? “No calls until the moon is full”, and yet here you were calling me a whole two days early! Do you know how close I was to relapsing back because of your little call!? And to top it off I was in public!”

“How am I to know when it’s safe to request a talk with you-me? Or does the “Hue-man” me think I can read minds across dimensions?” it asked, taking a step back when Frostbite grabbed his sword from the ground and unsheathed it, aiming the blade at the orange unicorn’s face.

“Allow me to make something perfectly clear AGAIN you damn dirty horse. YOU.ARE.NOT.ME!. Even though Frostbite knew his blade would do no damage, he knew his blade made the creature uneasy. “We may talk the same. Slightly look the same at least as much as an animal can look like a man. We even may have the same names, but we are not the same!”.

For a moment the creature just stood there shocked, but it wasn’t long before it came with a comeback. “A little touchy on the subject aren’t you? I wasn’t even trying and it already seems I’ve hit a soft spot.

Frostbite’s sword did not move an inch, Frostbite using all his willpower to not try to turn this interdimensional doubleganger into glue. “What.Do.You.Want?” Frostbite asked, talking through his teeth.

“I did find a soft spot! How delightful.” The unicorn sounded way to happy about finding that out about Frostbite, which unnerved him. “However, I suppose we should to the point. I have more info on the brat.”

It was only then that Frostbite lowered his sword, able to get a grip on his emotions. He may have been an expert on emotional manipulation, but moments like this reminded the ex-purifier that he could be victim to his own tactics. “Good, what do you got?”

“It’s not much but after some digging, my mole in the Canterlot royal guard found something important about the girl.”

”Just how important?”

“Important enough that it’s the reason why she came into your world.”

Frostbite was quiet for a moment before coming up with a response. ”That...might have been important enough to almost turn me into an unstoppable monster.”

“Indeed. Now after some “convincing”, my mole discovered from a retired royal guard that not long before Sunset went missing, she was found having a hectic argument with our not so bright princess.”

“Did they say what they were aruging about?”

“While he had trouble remembering everything due to the blood loss, the pony did recall Sunset bringing up a mirror or something along those lines. We'll have to see if he wakes up to get more details. How goes things on your end?”

Frostbite couldn’t help but smirk as he readied to show his bit of info. “These tricks you taught me are working like a charm. She doesn’t even suspect I’m using your “magic” or whatever bs you want to call it to do the crap I can do now. And to top it off, my old squadmates took the bait and just moved out of the warehouse district. So me and Sunny-D have a whole city district to train in now.”

”Perfect. Make sure she is ready by the allignment or else-”

“ Yeah yeah, “-Our whole plan will be for naught.”. You don’t have to remind me for the four millionth time you know.”

“I am just making sure you’re primative mind remembers that when the time comes. Now onto more pressing matters.”

The lower part of Frostbites faceplate opened up, allowing him to put a new Tore smoke in his mouth. “Like what?”

I personally know now where your “Cole Marksen” is.”

The area was quiet save for the sound of Frostbite’s tore smoke falling to the ground. His jaw had practically hit the floor from the bomb the unicorn had just dropped on him, unable to do anything but stare at the unicorn with shock. “You could have started out with that!”

“I have the belief that you save the best for last. Now what you like to know first? Where he is? How he’s doing. Possible new love intr-”

“WHERE IS HE?!” Even though it was just a projection, the unicorn could almost feel the raw anger eminating from Frostbite.

The unicorn stared at Frostbite with a blank, dissapointed look on his face. ”...you’re no fun. He is currently in the Crystal Empire. I can only assume that damned Alicorn knew something because if not for him, my second biggest problem right now would be hanging lifeless from a spike of crystals.”

“Tore damn it all! Did you at least get a couple good hits in on him?”

“From what I saw, he shouldn’t be getting up for a while. In fact, it’s more than likely he’ll be bedridden for the rest of his life.”

“Good. Kill him as soon as you get the chance. Now is that all?”

He didn’t even have to ask as the unicorn was already starting to reenter Frostbite’s body. He was caught offguard by this, causing him to fall to his knees. The energy was coursing through him with no restraint, the pain almost unbareable. If not for his training, Frostbite would have most likely passed out from the pain. He clenched his teeth as the last bit of the unicorn entered him, allowing him to breathe.

“I guess that was...Tore, I hate that thing.”. He fell down to the ground, exhausted from fighting against the pain. He grabbed another fresh Tore smoke, his hands shaking as he put it to his mouth, struggling to even summon a bit of his esper to light it. He could already feel his body start to shut down from the exhaustion, causing him to drop another one of his smokes from his mouth.“Ugh...Maybe...I...should...get...some...rest....”.
