Rainbow Dash was at the local track and field stadium in Ponyville as she was exercising while running a few laps around the area for a bit as she had been doing that for two hours. She had been doing it for a while now but she wasn't tired yet so she kept going at. She was there because it gave her something to do since her friends were doing their usual routines.
As she ran around the field she saw a few athletes resting in the stands as they had just did exercises as well. Other than that there wasn't anybody else except for those select few. As she watched people jog around the track she saw a woman walk up to the front and ask if she could exercise there for a bit.
After the woman got done exercising she sat down and she that she attached special leg blades to her amputated legs and that was when Rainbow Dash realized she was an amputee. Rainbow Dash immediately stopped and walked to the bleachers.
"Sorry to bother you but who is that?" Rainbow Dash asked. Soarin looked at to where she was pointing and gave Rainbow Dash a disbelieving look.
"Your kidding right? That there is Elizabeth. She's the new member of the Ponyville Athletics Organization. She's also my best friend. She's been recognized by the Equestia Sports League and The Wonderbolts and almost every newspaper syndicate in Equestria has an article on her. Don't tell me you've never heard of her before." Soarin said. Rainbow a Dash shrugged.
"You should meet her I think if you got the time to know her you will really come to like her. I can assure you that she is very nice and she doesn't back down from any challenge presented to her." Soarin said. Rainbow Dash watched her with intense interest.
"Okay I get all that but what are those she's using?" Rainbow Dash asked. Soarin looked at Rainbow Dash in disbelief as she couldn't believe that Rainbow Dash had no educational knowledge.
"You don't go out much do you? Those are carbon fibre prosthetic running blades." Soarin said. Rainbow Dash looked at her confused.
"Uh can you say that in English? I don't understand nerd talk." Rainbow Dash asked. Soarin rolled his eyes.
"They're leg blades Rainbow Dash. She's an amputee. She lost her legs a long time ago. A lot of the athletes who don't have legs on the Ponyville Athletics Organization use them. They are extremely well made. Does that answer my question or are you going to distract me with more questions?" Soarin asked. Rainbow Dash shrugged.
"Well...where does she live? She couldn't possibly live around here as I have never seen her in my entire life. Why did I only recognize her now?" Rainbow Dash asked. Soarin shrugged. They both continued to watch her run around the track.
"She used to live in Manehattan before coming to live here. I forgot the specific day she came here but she's here now. Besides you must have seen her on some sports magazine you have. There is no possible way that you haven't seen her before. I bet you have at least ten magazines where she is on the front cover." Soarin said.
"If I do I must have forgot about her. I can't keep track of all of the athletes that exist okay? Is she nice or incredibly stuck up?" Rainbow Dash asked. They continued to keep their eyes on her.
"She's the most nicest person you will ever meet. She's not stuck up. She doesn't brag at all and the best part about her is that she never advertises her awards unlike other athletes and she is never mean. She wouldn' hurt a fly even if you instructed her to. Shes also passionate which is rare to see among athletes. You should go over and talk to her." Soarin said. Rainbow Dash shook her head franticly.
"No way. I wouldn't know what to say to her. I wouldn't be able to keep myself from staring at her which I know would make her feel uncomfortable. I probably might ask her questions about her.....amputated legs and that would offend her." Rainbow Dash said.
"Yeah no you definitely don't want to do that to her. Whenever you meet someone who is an amputee you don't want to make it the first topic of conversation. Instead start out by telling her your name and ask her some normal questions like when did she started training to be a runner and what her job is. Stuff like that okay? Oh yeah and don't treat her like she's helpless or anything as she hates that. If she needs help she will communicate that to you plus you will know when to help." Soarin said. Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes.
"Alright I promise." She said. She waited until they were all done exercising and as soon as Elizabeth stopped to drink an energy drink that she had Rainbow Dash hesitated as she feared that she would offend Elizabeth by accident but she finally willed herself to go forward as she stood up and walked over to her. She hoped that she didn't look clueless. She was kind of nervous as well.
"Hi...um my names Rainbow Dash I saw you earlier...Soarin said your name was Elizabeth right?" Rainbow Dash asked her as politely as she could.
"That's my name! Yep I know what your name is. You help the princess. I've heard about you. I know you live in Ponyville but where was your home before?" Elizabeth asked.
"Im from Cloudsdale. I don't live there anymore but I used to live there. What are your hobbies? I heard you live here." Rainbow Dash explained. Elizabeth smiled.
"My hobbies are running and listening to music. Yes I do live here. Do you have any hobbies? I know you like athletics and stuff but do you have other interests?" Elizabeth asked her. Rainbow Dash thought for a second and shrugged.
"I like comic books and I like hanging out with my friends." Rainbow Dash said. Elizabeth nodded.
"Cool. Would you mind being my friend?" Elizabeth asked jokingly. Rainbow Dash shrugged as she wouldn't mind having another friend. Plus it would be cool to introduce her to her other friends.
"No I wouldn't mind. I was hoping you would say that. Maybe we can get together again sometime and just talk to eachother. Maybe we will race eachother a few times if your up for the challenge of coarse." Elizabeth stated. Rainbow Dash nodded enthusiastically.
"Your on." Rainbow Dash stated. Elizabeth chuckled and took another sip of her water and checked her watch and saw that she had to leave.
"Well I'm going to exercise a bit more. Maybe I'll see you tomorrow but we won't know for sure. I hope I can see you again Rainbow Dash you seem nice and I like that about you. It was nice meeting you." Elizabeth stated. She shook Rainbow Dash's hand and Rainbow Dash spoke
"Sure! Nice meeting you." Rainbow Dash said with a smile. Elizabeth went back to the track and did a few more laps much to Rainbow Dash's amazement. Rainbow Dash went back to Soarin.
"She was pretty nice. You were right maybe it will be worth my time if I got to spend more time with her. She said that she would like that as well." Rainbow Dash asked.
"See? I told you. Your going to like her a lot more trust me." Soarin said. Rainbow Dash stayed there and did some laps around the field till she was tired she did a few more extra laps for about two more hours and then she went home. When she got home she sat on her bed and thought about Elizabeth
She wondered if she would see her again. She hoped that she would but she didn't know why she felt like that. She relaxed for the rest of the day while she thought about Elizabeth.
The next day Rainbow Dash really wanted to meet Elizabeth again so she started to seek her out and when she found her she asked if they could do some stuff together. Elizabeth smiled and said yes. Rainbow Dash was so thrilled that she was so eager to say yes.
Elizabeth finished running a few laps first so Rainbow Dash waited patiently for her to finish and then once she finished Elizabeth switched out her blades for her leg looking prosthetics and then they both exited the course and went to a diner to eat dinner together. When they got to the diner Rainbow Dash and Elizabeth sat down and then they ordered a meal for themselves. While they waited they both talked to eachother.
"You need to meet my friends. They are nice people, they would probably like you at least thats what I think would happen. However I'm afraid that once they see you they will immediately hate you for being an amputee." Rainbow Dash said as she frowned.
"Well if they end up hating me for being an amputee I might as well not meet with them. I don't like being discriminated against Rainbow Dash its hurtful and wrong. I've had to deal with people like that in the past so I don't want to do that again." Elizabeth explained. Rainbow Dash understood why she felt like that. She responded.
"I know I understand. I don't think my friends will discriminate against you but I'm just saying that we have to be careful and think this over before doing this." Rainbow Dash said.
"Alright whatever you say. I'm trusting you." Elizabeth said. Rainbow Dash started to worry as she was nervous of the possibility that her friends will end up hating Elizabeth even if Elizabeth was an extremely nice person. She feared that her friends wouldn't understand that she was an amputee who ran in races with prosthetics.
They started to talk about other topics before they got their food. Rainbow Dash told Elizabeth that they should have a race someday which Elizabeth enthusiastically agreed to. They both debated who was the fastest in a jokingly manner.
As they ate Rainbow Dash realized how much she was starting to enjoy Elizabeth's company even if they had only met yesterday. She hoped that she could continue to see Elizabeth. She thought about asking Elizabeth if they could change phone numbers.
Once they finished Rainbow Dash paid for the meal so that Elizabeth didn't have to. Once they exited the diner Rainbow Dash called each of her friends and told them that she had a new friend and told them to come meet her. They all agreed and went to go meet Rainbow Dash's new friend.
When they got their she introduced them to Elizabeth and explained how she was an amputee and a runner who used prosthetics. Twilight and her friends talked to Elizabeth for a bit and they all started to like her.
Rainbow Dash was so relieved that her friends liked Elizabeth. She admitted to herself that her own prediction was very ridiculous as her friends never discriminated to people no matter what.
After Elizabeth and Rainbow Dash's friends talked to them Elizabeth told Rainbow Dash's friends that she could be their friend and they all liked that idea so before Rainbow Dash could ask her to exchange phone numbers she gave her phone number to Rainbow Dash and her friends. She told them that they could call her at anytime after she finished her daily practice at running at the track.
Rainbow Dash's friends thanked Elizabeth and told Rainbow Dash that they were happy that Rainbow Dash had found a new friend and then they left them so that Rainbow Dash and Elizabeth could talk to eachother alone. Rainbow Dash continued to hang out with Elizabeth.
"Well I'm glad that they like me. You must be so glad to have such good friends like those group of girls. I hope you and me could be that close." Elizabeth said. She looked over at Rainbow Dash as Rainbow Dash had a smile on her face.
"I am glad that they are my friends. Don't worry we will be close like that one day." Rainbow Dash said. They continued to talk about their interests and what was going on in the news. After a while Elizabeth gave Rainbow Dash her phone number and told her that she could call her anytime that she wanted. Rainbow Dash gave Elizabeth her phone number and told Elizabeth that she could call her anytime that she wanted, They both planned to meet eachother again and soon Elizabeth went home.
Rainbow Dash went back to her place and put Elizabeth's phone number away in a safe visible place so that she never loose the phone number and so that could see the phone number and call Elizabeth anytime that she wanted. After that meeting Rainbow Dash and Elizabeth met frequently while their friendship grew. Soon they were very close friends and that was a fact that they both liked as they had both wanted that to happen.
Rainbow Dash always went to see Elizabeth at the track meets that she had. She always made sure to watch her run as she loved watching her run. After that they usually hung out. Rainbow Dash and Elizabeth called eachother on the phone everyday and just talked to eachother about stuff that was going on in their lives.
Rainbow Dash's other friends started to hang out with Elizabeth as well and they all grew to like her a lot which was a fact that Rainbow Dash Elizabeth both liked Before long Elizabeth was a friend of Rainbow Dash's friends which Rainbow Dash was thrilled about.
As they continued seeing eachother their friendship grew stronger. They never argued or fought as they were always kind to eachother. Rainbow a Dash's friends were so glad that Rainbow Dash got along with Elizabeth. Rainbow Dash and Elizabeth continued to see eachother for the rest of their lives.
