//-------------------------------------------------------// You Never Even Ask -by PhoneboxCorgi- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// 1 Twilight's Anger //-------------------------------------------------------// 1 Twilight's Anger Twilight sat in front of the monument, tears ran down her face as she gazed up at the smiling faces of her friends. "Twilight?" Celestia's voice questioned her. "What do you want?" Twilight snarled. "Twilight, you cannot simply be angry at the world, I have lost friends too, it is a fact of life." Celestia said softly and laid beside Twilight. Twilight leapt up, shaking in anger. "A fact of life?!" She screamed. "Me becoming immortal because you decided I could be a princess was not a fact of life. I'm not angry at the world, death happens, I knew that, but I thought I'd eventually die with my friends too!" Celestia stared, shocked at Twilight's outburst. "Did Cadence know about this? Is that why I haven't seen her in fifty years?" Twilight shouted. "Why did she vanish after my brother died?" "What gives you the right to decide who should be a princess and who shouldn't?" She spat. "Did you even ask me? Did you ask Candence? Did you even once tell her that she would outlive her family and friends?" "I know what I am doing Twilight." Celestia answered calmly. "Oh do you?" Twilight shouted. "Is that why you never noticed your own sister becoming withdrawn and depressed and angry until it was too late and The Nightmare had taken hold of her? Is that why you simply froze Discord in stone, fully conscious for hundreds of years? Why Tirek was put in a damn cage?" "Why did you never just ask your sister what was wrong? Why did you not try to reason with Discord? You just went straight for the Elements, like the weak pathetic leader you are!" She yelled. "Twilight, you are not yourself, the grief has blinded you to reali-" "NO!" Twilight screamed, her horn flared. The castle guards were now on edge, watching the scene. An angry alicorn wasn't something they wanted to handle, much less their princess, but knew they may have to in order to protect Celestia. "Time and time again I have watched everyone I love and care about die, everyone but Spike and he's a dragon, he was going to outlive me in the first place, he had since birth to come to terms with that. Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rarity, Skystar, dammit I've had enough! I want out!" Twilight grew louder and louder as her magic flared out of control. Bright sky blue bolts exploded from her horn and whipped around her. "I loved her Celestia, god I loved her, I knew I shouldn't, I knew there was a chance I would outlive her; I told you then I was hesitant because of how others would react, and you encouraged me to start an actual relationship with her! You said it might help her fit in again, might make everyone else stop judging a pony desperate to get her magic back!" Twilight's magic shot out, narrowly missing the guards and Celestia. "You let us take in a colt!" She screeched. "You approved the adoption, god why would you DO THAT? Why would you just sit back and allow me to think I wouldn't outlive my god damn child and wife? Why, when I told you I was in love with her, did you encourage me to seek a relationship? You knew damn well she would die before me, even if she was older! So why? Do you think pain is funny? What is your reason?" "Twilight, stop, calm down!" Celestia shouted leaping between the enraged alicorn and the guards. "No." Twilight snarled. "I see it, I see why Luna snapped, I see that you care more about a presentation than actually being a leader. So much so that she went deep into depression and allowed The Nightmare to take hold of her. Well maybe she wasn't wrong to do so!" The magic engulfed Twilight, as Celestia shouted. "Guards! Leave! Flee! Summon Luna!" She yelled as she tried to push Twilight back with her own magic. Twilight was stronger than either her or Luna, but maybe together they could calm her. Twilight cackled. "Luna? You mean the sister you once again abandoned as the years went on? The sister who far more than you, knows how I feel? The sister who you banished to the moon for a thousand years so that when she came back everyone she knew and loved was dead? The only one still alive from her time, was the very one who imprisoned her." "I have had enough Celestia. I'm done. I'm through. I will not watch someone else I love die!" She shouted. "It was not bad enough I guess, to lose everyone in Ponyville as the years went on, I had to lose my best friends too! And then there's Cadence, she lost the love of her life, god I wonder what that's like? Oh that's right, I do know and you know that I know because you encouraged it! Dammit Celestia, do you ever think about what you do and the effect it will have later? Or are you so stupid that you just live in the moment? Well let me tell you, that is not what a leader is supposed to do!" "Twilight, please, remember who you are, you are kind and gentle an-" Celestia was cut off. "I know who I am. I am Twilight Sparkle. I was the Princess of Friendship, until all my friends died. 'The Princess of Friendship, with no friends! And no way out.' I should have known this was coming from the moment she said that." "Twilight, no, Tempest was-" "Fizzy was telling the truth!" She screamed. "Except I didn't just lose my friends, I lost the love of my life, and there's no way out!" The magic that had been swirling around her flared and shot out, crackling as it met resistance in Celestia and the stones. Celestia looked in horror at what stood before her. Twilight's mane was black, flowing behind her, her eyes slit and her coat a garnet red. "You never think about what you do, you never ask others for their advice, you just do, and damn the consequences." Twilight hissed. "I've had enough Celestia. It's time to end this. " Author's Note I'm not sure if this will be just a oneshot or a series. But anyway, enjoy Twilight losing her mind! :D
