Last Humans on Earth
First Contact

"You told us that Apple Bloom, but were should we bring the humvee," I asked her.
"You should bring it to Twilight's castle," I looked back at her. "Oh yeah, just go around the outskirts of the town, the castle is between two mountains, and you should be able to stop behind the castle."
"Alright, okay Jackson you heard her," Jackson pulled a sharp right and drove down a small hill, making sure to stay out of sight of the village. In the distance, a giant crystal castle emerged from behind buildings. "Wow, that is one shiny castle!"
"Yeah, it is," Charles muttered. He rolled the window down, and stared at the castle. We quickly approached the castle, with hopefully little to no disturbance in town. "Wow, this place is massive, this is easily twenty stories!"
"Okay, stop geeking out and help me hide this thing," I told him. I got out and ran to the back, and grabbed the camo net. After everyone got out of the humvee, me and Charles pulled the net over the humvee. "There, it's as noticeable as a blood stain on a black and white photo."
"Okay, let's hope no one gets curious," Charles hoped. We followed the three ponies to the front of the crystal palace. Sweetie knocked on the door, and a small slit on the door slid open, revealing a pair of magenta eyes peering out. I heard talking inside as a bolt clicked open. The door opened and inside was a magenta pony with both wings and a horn. The pony stared at the three and smiled, then it saw us and it's face turned into that of fear and interest.
"Hi, girls, what have you found," she asked them. She stared at all three of us, her eyes quickly scanning over us.
"I'm Tyler Prenot," I told her. She stepped back slightly as I talked. I chuckled, remembering my reaction to these the three smaller ponies talking. "I'm here to meet our new neighbors."
"Girls, where did you find these three creatures, and why are they with you," she demanded.
"Twilight, these are humans, we accidentally woke them up when we came across there vault," Sweetie told her. She new more than she let on. "There are more of them up in the vault, these three came down here to meet you!"
"Umm, I need to sit down, please come in," she told us. She led us through the castle, and we finally entered library, books lined the shelves on the walls, and one large rectangular table sat in the center of the room. She sat in a chair at the table, and so did the three fillies. I remained standing, while Jackson sat in a chair. Charles looked over the books on the shelves, grabbing one and sat on the floor reading. "Please put that back when you're done!"
"I will," he told her. I quickly flipped through the pages, just taking in the sight of a book. 25 years before Earth ended itself, America had outlawed books, which in turn lead to major rebellions all over America. America outlawed books due to the sole reason of the president had a strong belief that books, music, movies, games, and art were the spawn of Satan. He only allowed the holy bible to be the only remaining books, and if you were found with a book that was anything other than the holy bible, you were to be publicly executed. The US military hid stockpiles of books, music, video games, movies, and art in all of the vaults around the country. This angered other nations, leading to World War 3.
"Okay, so would you like to explain exactly what you are and where you came from," she asked me, Jackson, and Charles.
"As I already said, I'm Tyler Prenot, me, Charles over there, Jackson and everyone else back at our vault our probably what's left of the human race," I told her. She laid a piece of parchment paper on the table, and brought an ink well and quill out of a drawer in the table. She began writing what I told her. "Over 2,500,000 million years ago, my species commited what I would call a controlled extinction event."
"Wait, you're over 2,500,000 years old," she asked, her voice holding a tinge of disbelief. "And what do you mean 'controlled extinction event'?"
"Well, the people locked in my vault were frozen, cryogenically and we woke up a little while ago, so technically I'm still 26," I told her. The quill hovered in the air, rapidly writing what I said, periodically dipping itself back into the inkwell. "We were put into vaults when our nation received threats that we would be nuked, we would be wiped off the map. Well we were bombed and we retaliated, attacking every other country, this in turn sparked what we call World War 3."
All of the ponies paled. The three had sad looks on their faces, while Twilight continued writing. I waited for a question, anything but all I got was silence.
"Why would your species do that," Twilight asked me. She stared at me, her eyes full of sorrow, but also full of curiosity. "Why would they eradicate themselves?"
"It's because humans are full of anger and greed, they want to be better than everyone else," I told her. I felt a slight amount of anger rise in the back of my voice, but it wasn't noticeable. Twilight continued asking me questions about our history and sciences. She then hit the question of beliefs, and she was stunned to hear that we had people in no god, one god, or many gods. We sat there for hours talking about humans accomplishments and failures, our history, different religions, and many other things. My throat was rubbed raw by the time the questions had finished. "Is that the last of the questions?"
"Yes it is, thank you for your time Tyler," she answered. "Spike!"
"What is it Twilight," a small green dragon asked as he came running into the room. "Who are they?"
"They are humans, a lost species," she told him. "Now, send this letter to princess Celestia."
"Alright," he picked up the scroll and burped up a green flame that disintegrated the scroll and sent the smoke through the window. "I'm going back to bed."
"Wait, what time is it," Twilight asked, while looking out the window.
"About 11:30," Spike told her while walking out of the room.
"Crap, Charles, Jackson we need to get back to the vault," I told them. I looked over and saw Jackson asleep with his legs on the table, and Charles was sitting with a candle on the ground with his seventh book. "May we stay here for the night?"
"Yeah, I just hope you need to do something back at the vault," she asked me. She stretched her body out, receiving pops and cracks from every joint. "Good night."
"Uh-huh," she walked out of the library, closing the door behind us. The three ponies across from me were sleeping soundly, and looked adorable. I walked over to Charles, who was too ingrossed in his book about something. "Charles, it's 11:30 we need to go to bed, come on."
"Yeah, I'll go to bed after this book," he told me. I shrugged and lied down on the floor close by to him. "Good night Tyler."
"Good night Charles."
