Equestria Girls: Senior Year
Author's Note
My Little Pony and Equestria Girls belong to Hasbro. Stardust Balance is an OC that was created by the Warrior of Twilight, and I simply own Casey, as well as what is written in this story that I hope you’ll enjoy.
This is kinda basically going to be my take on the Equestria Girls “Better Together” shorts that are currently being released, except in this case, you’ll all get to read about various moments and such that take place during the senior year of high-school for the Main 7, Casey, and Stardust.
For those who are unfamiliar with Casey, he’s the human version of my OC pony from my 1st “MLP” story A Race Against Time; and for Stardust, his OC pony counterpart is from A Journey Beyond Sanity, which is a story that was written by the Warrior of Twilight (his username on here is the same as the character).
An Unexpected Start
As the warning bell for students to get to class was rung, Casey Rhodes let out a sigh, and muttered, “Come on, Star…”
Looking at the person that sitting in front of him, Casey moved forward to tap his friend on the shoulder. “Hey, Rainbow, have you seen-”
“What? You say something?” asked the athletic teenager, who had on a pair of earbuds that was connected to her portable music device, so Casey raised up his voice a little in order for her to hear him.
“Have you seen Stardust?”
Rainbow Dash shook her head, and replied, “Nope, sorry, Case, I haven’t… oh! Did that one bottle of ointment make the rest of your acne go away?”
A few of the other students in the room began to laugh quietly amongst themselves while Casey glared at Rainbow, saying, “Um, you think you could take a little louder? I don’t think they heard you in Australia!”
Rainbow gave him a sheepish smile before turning back around, and as Casey laid back into his seat, Pinkie Pie - who was sitting behind him - asked, “Why do you need Stardust so bad?”
“I don’t, Pinkie, but Mr. Saber already hates him enough as it is,” replied Casey. “Not to mention that this is the first day of our senior year, and he -”
Before the light brown-haired teenager could finish his sentence, said teacher entered the classroom with his students quickly heading over to their seats. “Alright, adolescents, figure out where you’ll be sitting at for the entire first semester… and Miss Dash, put those headphones away, or I will sell them on the internet.”
“Sorry, teach,” muttered Rainbow, rolling her eyes as she took the earbuds out while the teacher of English IV began counting down how many students were in his class to make sure they were all present.
“Okay, looks like every-” He started to say, but then, he paused after noticing two empty seats in the classroom. “Huh, someone’s missing. Who would be-”
Suddenly, Twilight Sparkle entered the classroom, with a scarf around her neck and looking very concerned about something. “Mr. Saber, I think I saw someone with a spray-paint can by your car!”
Mr. Saber let out a frustrated sigh, and he said, “Gah, just because today is a 13th does not mean it’s Friday the 13th, and it also does not mean that students can do bad things to other people!”
As he hurried out of the classroom to make sure that his vehicle wouldn’t be vandalized, Casey looked at Twilight, and asked, “What did the student look like?”
“Oh, um…” A sheepish smile appeared on Twilight’s face. “There isn’t one actually.”
A confused expression appeared on Casey’s face as he said, “Well, why did you come in here to tell-”
His answer came in the form of Stardust Balance, the messy-haired teenager - viewed by some as Canterlot High’s unofficial bad boy because of several reasons - who was now casually walking into the classroom, with Casey letting out an exasperated sigh. “Of course.”
As for the young teenager with a scar over his right eye, Stardust smiled at his girlfriend, and said, “Thank you, love, I don’t know what I would do without you.”
Twilight gave him a small look of disapproval, and replied, “You could try to not sleep in longer than usual so stuff like this wouldn’t have to happen.”
“Not my fault I’m taking advantage of this place finally giving us a damn late start on Mondays,” said the gold-skinned teenager, and Twilight began to walk away, but then, Stardust stopped her so that he could give his girlfriend a quick 5-second passionate kiss as another way of thanking her, with Rainbow snickering quietly to herself, Casey looking amused, and Pinkie trying to cover up her giggling.
Once he pulled away, a now-blushing Twilight said, “You know I don’t… um… like it when you do that.”
“True, but you’ve never told me to stop,” reminded Stardust. “Now go before you’re late to class or something.”
Even though she couldn’t help but blush, the former Crystal Prep student rolled her eyes as she walked out of the classroom while Stardust went over to his seat, and he tossed a small plastic bottle into Casey’s hands before sitting down. “Oh, glad you’re here… you left your ointment behind at my house yesterday.”
A few of the students tried holding in their laughter as Casey glared at his friend, and he exclaimed, “Is nothing personal?”
Stardust shrugged his shoulders, and was about to say something else when Mr. Saber came back into the classroom. “Well, luckily, the student ran off before I got out there, so the car is fine-”
Then, he stopped after noticing the smug look on a certain student’s face that was sitting next to Casey.
“Stardust Balance… where you here when I left?”
The messy-haired teenager nodded his head, and he said, “Oh, yeah, definitely, but you weren’t in here after I woke up. What happened?”
Casey let out a sigh while Mr. Saber just looked at his least-favorite student before asking, “Are you lying to me, Stardust?”
“Would I lie to you?” replied the innocent-looking teenager, with a sly grin on his face.
The teacher crossed his arms, and said, “Let me think… yes, you would.”
Stardust gave him a small shrug in response, and laid back in his seat. “Well, why don’t you ask Rainbow? She’ll tell you the truth.”
A smirk appeared on Mr. Saber’s face after hearing that statement from Stardust. “I actually prefer asking someone who is not your best friend, and that’s never lied to me yet.”
He then turned his attention over to the person sitting next to Stardust, and asked, “Casey… did he come to my class on time?”
“Um… what?” Casey did his best not to act nervous, even though almost everyone was looking at him now.
“He asked you if Stardust-”
“Yes, Pinkie, I’m aware of what he said,” Casey whispered back to his friend, and he gave the teacher a sheepish smile. “Well, what exactly is the meaning of ‘on time’ these days… because if you think about it-”
Mr. Saber crossed his arms, and let out a sigh. “Casey…”
The young man slunk down in his seat, and he exclaimed, “No, he wasn’t here on time.”
“Uh-huh, I thought so,” said Mr. Saber, who still had a smirk on his face as he returned to his desk.
As for Stardust, he looked at his friend in disbelief, and said, “What the [BEEP], Casey?”
“He had Twilight convince you to leave the classroom so he could sneak his way in here,” added Casey, who then turned his attention over to Stardust. “Look, I’m sorry, but you know that what me and Applejack have in common is that we don’t lie, which is something I can’t do, and if you decide to murder me in my sleep tonight, I would appreciate it if you’d do it in a way that is not painful. Is that too much to ask?”
Then, while a guilty-feeling Casey slunk slower in his seat, Mr. Saber looked at his agenda to see if there was a reason why there was one more empty seat in his classroom.
“I wonder what… oh, there it is!” The teacher now began to speak to the class. “Looks like we have a returning student that’ll be with us in this class for all of senior year: Miss -”
Suddenly, the classroom door was opened, and the student that he was referring to entered the room, with most of her classmates gasping and looking surprised except for Casey and Stardust since they’d been aware of her arrival.
“Starlight Glimmer?” exclaimed a wide-eyed Rainbow. “They let you out of the Wacky Shack?”
Pinkie tilted her head to the side, now looking confused. “I thought it was called the Cuckoo Hut.”
“It was a rehabilitation clinic,” corrected Starlight, taking off her beanie as she glared at the four friends, also trying to keep her temper under control. “And I promise you that I’m not going to cause any sort of trouble, Mr. Saber.”
A chuckle came from the English teacher, and he replied, “I appreciate you telling me that, Miss Glimmer… perhaps another student in here could learn a thing or two from you.”
Stardust scoffed, and crossed his arms as he muttered to himself, “Please, this is the same girl who got all revenge-crazy on me all because I got a higher test grade than her.”
