Chapters 1 down, 4 to go
The night was coming to a close and a lone walker crossed the stone bridge leading out of Ponyville, on her back was a large string tied satchel containing the few remnants of what was the ‘fastest flier in Equestria’. She made her way further up the cobbled track the distant sun on the horizon slowly emerging bathing the scenery in a luscious orange glow, the fingers of light reaching over the hills caressing the landscape . She made her way up a small hill and glanced back on the quaint little town, perplexed by the staggering beauty of the place; she smiled at the memories she had once and how a cruel twist tainted them with lies.
She followed the stream further up too its source, a large pool at the foot of a waterfall somewhat of a tourist sight however a secretive spot, due to it being a rather distant walk quite far out of Ponyville. She traced her hoof over the surface of the gleaming water, a deflated mane and dull matted fur stared back with equal enthusiasm. Her matted fur gave her a sullen look, her eyes were dark and glassy. She blinked slowly and sighed. Where had the Party pony gone? In a way she missed her old self but the memories she longed for so dearly were now regrets burned into her misplaced mind. Physically she was a shadow of her former self but mentally she was so much more, the loss of friends gained her the only one she could trust, herself... and the monster she strived to become. With another sigh she dropped the bag down on the floor next to her by the side of the pool. Her shoulder ached from the labourous task of carrying it up there. She undid the tie at the top of the bag and spread the bag to its maximum diameter. Inside the shadowed eyes of a friend lost stared back, the face contorted in its final expression of agony. She was repulsed by the sight and a lump grew in her throat as she remember the time they had spent pranking. No. They were lies...her eyes grew wet and she wiped them angrily. Speaking aloud "You lied to me!" she looked down and fell to her knees "You all did...". She had never felt so alone I her life everyone she had relied upon were now icons of betral. What was left for her now she pondered. What in this bleak temple of misfortune which she called her life required her input anymore...She was lost. She fell into the deppressive state of self loathing once again.
But how would the others feel she wondered, they would take great happiness that the thorn in their side was at long last gone from the world and they would all be able to party without her. A mixed emotion stirred within her she longed for her own suffering to end but equally didn't want to give the others such a satisfaction. They must all die too. Pent up fustration and fear of discovery forced her to carry on.
She wiped her eyes again and glanced about warily to see if anypony was around, with the area seemingly clear she began furtively filling up the satchel with stones from the side of the pool. She didn’t need to weight it too much; just enough to know it would sink. It weighed almost twice as much as previously. After a dozen or so stones were sitting on top of what used to be cyan Pegasus, she picked up the satchel sullenly and grimaced under its increased weight made her way round to the far edge of the pool, as close to the precipitous edge of the overhang as possible as this is expectantly where the deeper water would be. She of course knew of better places to hide it but she would prefer it if people knew of her existence, she sort of got a buzz of it.
Their finding of the body wasn’t really much of a concern as due to her adequate soaking of the body in bleach and various other chemicals this would make identifying the body difficult, but more importantly any trace of whom the killer may be would remain a mystery which is the way she would prefer. She liked the idea of creating an entire community even if it was only as small as Ponyville afraid of a mystery killer. She reached the edge of the deepest part of the pool and taking a few steps into it adopted a 2 legged upright stance which allowed here better leverage to throw the weight into the depths. Despite her muscles not being designed for this sort of labour in this sort of way she managed to throw the satchel a considerable distance into the pool making a large splash as it hit the water. She gazed into the water for a few moments checking to see if the present was at all visible from the surface which from what she could tell it didn’t appear to be. The task was done, she could return piece of mind, the first part of the pla-.
"Ah' thought I heard somepony else up here”
The thick southern accent came from behind her. Pinkie spun on the spot to face the pony that had greeted.
“Oh hey Applejack...w-what you doing up here this time in the morning?” said Pinkie behind a clandestine smile.
“Well sugarcube ah were jus about ta ask you the same thing, I head up here most mornings before I start ma work down on the farm, it’s the first time a seen you here tho.” She said crossing her legs.
“Well you know I just woke up this morning and I thought *gasps* wouldn’t it be great if me and gummy went for a walk to the waterfall and he could have swim” said pinkie falling back into her old false rhythms.
Applejack glanced over to the side of pinkie then to the pool. “Well where is gummy?” she said looking confused.
Think pinkie.
“Oh he’s erm” You stupid foal, you can’t even think of a simple cover! “He’s at home... ill, he’s sick you know with the erm illness.” Pinkie said trying to cover with a smile. You’re not even the element of honest and you can’t tell a friend a simple lie.
“Ah' know why you’re really here” said Applejack looking solemn
“You do?” replied Pinkie inquisitively
“It's Rainbow dash isn’t it?”Said Applejack stepping forward
Pinkies eyes widened and her heart dropped, Applejack knows she thought. Im going to have to kill her to keep her quiet, her eyes quickly began scanning the floor for a large stone or some sort of object which could be used to bludgeon her until she passed out at least then she would have to take her home and reap the necessary amendments. Pinkies mind was a maelstrom of activity. Without thinking she began trying to calculate her odd's against Applejack, she's stronger definitely but pinkie was faster and she knew it she would need to use that to her advantage or maybe-.
“Ah miss her too ya know but a’hm sure they’ll find her, don’t cha worry” said Applejack smiling.
Pinkies eyes shot up off the floor.
“Find her? Oh yea sorry I’m sure they will she’s probably fine” She said trying to sound saddened although very much relived, killing Applejack especially during the day would be difficult also transporting her body through the town would be risky enough not to mention the fact that Applejack being larger would weigh more. “I should probably be getting back to sugarcube corner, I’m sure Mr and Mrs cake will be looking for me by now.” Said pinkie beginning to walk away from the pool past Applejack.
As Pinkie past Applejack, a hoof raised to stop her “If ya' need to talk to somepony a know I’m probably not tha' best but still jus' come see me down on the farm cos' ah' don’t want you wandering round this time a the morning, there are some real monsters out there.”
“Of course ill stop by and see my number one friend” said Pinkie suppressing the urge to comment on the ‘real monsters line’
“Ata' gurl' sugarcube, ah' see ya' later ok?” said Applejack said walking toward the pool.
“Okie dokie lokie, I be round later, bye Applejack” and with that Pinkie began walking back down the hill toward Ponyville.
There are most certainly monsters out there Applejack thought Pinkie to herself. And soon you’ll know about them first hand, a smile spread across Pinkie’s lips. You’ll really see your friend for the monster she really is and you’ll be all alone...just like you all made me be, Alone and afraid after your friends abandoned you.
Speaking aloud, “I’ll never forget that party, the lies you all told to protect me from the truth, you all left me, and through me you will all leave this world".
The following morning.
Pinkie slowly awoke, eyes adjusting to the lighting as the essence of the new day poured in through the partially open curtains. She glanced around to see another pony in her room. She quickly sat upright startled by a hooded stranger who seemingly hadn’t noticed her movement.
“Um..Hello” pinkie managed weakly trying to sound assertive. The stranger didn’t stir. She opened her mouth to speak again when the strangers head sprang up and deep magenta eyes glared at her own. The face was covered in scars and tears were streaming down their face. Pinkie was in shock trying to rationalize the creation before her. It looked so familar but felt so unbelonging seemingly emitting an aura which filled her with dread and hopelessness.
“Why Pinkie?...” it spoke slowly and deliberately with voice frail and dark.
“I...I, .I don-“ spoke pinkie softly.
The stranger stepped forward in a shallow and gentle movement. The light from the window enveloped the right side of its body. The fur was a purest white, the wings appeared to have been both sewn on and were a darker colour than the rest in a dull light blue similar to...
“Dashie?” asked pinkie tears welling in her eyes
The stranger blinked and turned a flank toward her. The flank bore the cloud and rainbow belonging to that of her friend.
“I never meant for you to be first dashie... I knew you didn't lie, I knew you were to loyal too, You weren't like the others” tears began to roll down her cheeks and matted her fur.
“I would never have even put you in if I knew I could trust you dashie...” She said trying to convince the stranger. “...but you’re so...so, loyal, i could never have left you, you would have told...” the stranger stirred slightly.
“Do you want my forgiveness pinkie...do you want me to leave you alone so you may forget me?”
“I’ll never forget you dashie, you were always my mare...”said pinkie removing the cover from her upper body.
“Then make me a promise pinkie, and in dept I’ll give you a gift of great value.” Said Rainbow dash with her own voice, the sound of it was music to her she wished she could hear once again telling her it was her friend like old times.
“Anything” said pinkie now standing just in front of the Pegasus.
“Promise me you’ll kill all our friends-"
Interrupting pinkie smiled darkly “I’m already planning that one dashie in a few months they’ll all-“
“No Pinkie. I want you to kill all of our friends and I want it all done in one night, this Friday to be exact”
“Friday? But that’s only 2 days” pinkie said in alarm.
“Well if anypony can plan something it’s you pinkie”
Pinkie smiled. Rainbow leaned closer and began lightly tugging on pinkies hair.
“Ow stop that; hey ....hey ...get off.” The pain wasn’t initial, but slowly felt more belonging.
Pinkie opened her eyes. Gummy was sitting on her chest gently tugging at her hair. Her mind worried for a brief second before realizing it was a dream.
“Morning gummy” said pinkie playfully.
Gummy let out a croak as a token of response. Pinkie sat upright as gummy jumped to the floor. She rubbed her eyes glancing about the room. The dark corner where the stranger was seemed tainted with the strangers presence.
“Today the Planning shall begin...” she said voice wavering. She opened up her bedside drawer and pulled out a tied locket of cyan fur.
“I won’t fail you dashie...cross my heart and hope to fly stick a cupcake in my eyes” She said solemnly.
She untidily removed the covers and got out of bed. She stretched for a brief moment and walked over to her writing desk. She pulled out the oak chair and sat down, with a gleam of anticipation in her eyes and pen in mouth she began the plans for tomorrow and ‘The Party’.
I would just like to say in advance due to the rather controversial comments on my initial chapter that this is a story following cupcakes, which is labelled in the story description. If you disliked cupcakes then this will be no exception I would just like to make that clear. However any comments regarding grammar, layout or general character behaviour will be still appreciated as I am by no means an experienced writer.

“Declined!” screamed pinkie swinging her hoof at a near standing Mr cake who parried the blow with nimble precision for a stallion that stayed in a kitchen his whole life.
“er...yes Pinkie I’m sorry your friends can’t all make it to your celebration apart from Rarity of course” said Mr cake clearly shocked by her malapropos action.
Pinkie fell back first against the wall. Her eyes glanced over to the room she had so perfectly prepared. The balloons were poised at ever corner of the tables, the food in the kitchen was ready to be served when needed, the banner was drawn out by hoof and most importantly various tools of murder were scatted across the room. The room had been embellished to a rightful stature suitable for a party to be held. She had it all planned out.
“I spent 2 hours preparing this you know!” Said Pinkie forcefully. “...and not to mention the 2 others planning the thing!”
“But isn’t a party always a party even with only 1 guest as you said once before.” Said Mr Cake trying to appease Pinkies tantrum.
With her back to Mr Cake she faced the room she had prepared. A spark emerged in her eyes and a dark smile spread across her shadowed face.
“I suppose it is... I’m sure me and Rarity will enjoy ourselves all the same.” She muttered to herself almost inaudible to Mr Cake. “Mrs Cake won’t be back until Sunday will she?” asked Pinkie politely despite her already knowing.
“Yeah she’s at a bakery competition which I know she’s going win, she’s at least twice the baker I am” exclaimed Mr Cake gleaming with pride.
Pinkie sighed and pulled out a knife taped to the underside of the table. The knife was sharpened in preparation for the party sadly they all were. “I’m a terrible hostess” said pinkie turning to face Mr Cake, knife in hoof.
“What do you mean?” asked Mr Cake. He took a step back once his eyes met with the blade.
“I’m sorry to be impolite Rarity, but I’m afraid that I’m going to have to cut the cake early” A glint of insanity flashed in her. Her gripped tightened on the knife and she leaped at the baker. Mr Cake tried to dodge the strike but Pinkie now knew how fast he could move, despite this she landed a gash across his chest. He yelped and landed on the wooden floor. The blood trickled down his yellow fur. A patch of red was gradually spread through his apron.
The knife was now stained with red ichor.
Face contorted in pain, Mr Cake slowly rose to his hooves. Pinkie watched him pensively. His eyes darted around the room in desperation trying to find an escape route. A long sigh emitted from him as she slowly advanced standing only a few feet away. The two stared at each other each wondering what the other was thinking. Despite Mr Cake knowing Pinkie for most her life he wasn’t entirely surprised. He thought about the future him and his wife had left. But he knew he wasn’t a fighter, nor did he have a chance to escape as the door was cruelly situated behind Pinkie and even if he did get past her he was in no state to run as he could barely stand.
“You’re going to kill me aren’t you?” he asked refusing to make eye contact.
Pinkie felt saddened by what she had to do. He never lied to her, he was always truthful and was like the father she never had. He had practically re-raised her once she’d left the rock farm; he’d been the one who had taught her how to bake.
“I just can’t have you interfere” she said speaking meaningfully. She would always regret what she had to now do but it was the only way to achieve retribution on those she desired to.
A melancholy of conflicting thoughts passed wordlessly between them.
A sudden guffaw erupted from Mr Cake and he raised his head to match eyes with Pinkie. “Just as well you’re good at this I suppose... You always were a shoddy cook” he smiled and laughed once again dropping to his knees.
She wasn’t angry at him for the comment. In fact she liked seeing the fighting spirit in someone who she had admired for so long. However she wished to demoralize him before his final moments so she knew he had no chance. She wanted it to feel almost merciful when she killed him. Fresh adrenaline poured into her blood and grip once again tightened upon the knife. Pinkie frowned and swinging downward planted the knife into his eye, ending his laugher with a spontaneous shout of agony. Blood trickled out of the sides of the knife and he lifted a hoof to remove the implement from his eye. She smiled and kicked the hoof down applying more pressure to the knife but not enough to injure him beyond consciousness. He screamed and struggled helplessly against the increasing pressure exerted onto his socket. With an almost casual effort, she retracted the knife from his skull.
His breathing was ragged and stuttered between whimpers as he clutched his ravaged socket. She no longer felt remorse for the actions she had committed. She was getting into the swing of motion which was required to commit any of her murders, a swing which she would be getting accustomed to tomorrow.
“This may seem quite a bad time but I would like to thank you for everything you did in teaching me, I mean if it wasn’t for you I surely would never have had any fond memories to look back on.” She said smiling toward the end. A final sentiment of gratitude was exchanged.
Mr Cake didn’t reply he wore the same expression Rainbow did in her final moments an expression Pinkie was starting to recognise, he had given up fighting. She knelt down and place knife over his throat. With a smiling glance she passed it cleanly through his neck and covered the wall behind him.
He gargled and thrashed for a few moments then it was over. The room fell silent. His eyes still open screamed belligerency. The precept was yearning Pinkie to leave the area and muse over what she had done however she needed to clear up. If anypony were to walk in at the time she would either be forced to kill again or try and lie to say she found him like that. Regardless the game would be up for her, she needed to hurry.
She gathered a rug from her room above which hopefully nopony would recognise as it being her own. Dragging him by the forelegs she placed him on the end of the rug. She glanced at his face and wished she hadn’t.
He was mess. She had wanted him dead but not like this, she expected it to be this hard especially thinking back, for him to die so brutally even by her own hoof she had an indelible feeling of guilt. Only after she was finished did she realise the callous actions she was reaping.
Trails of blood ran down his eye and smaller ones at the corner of his mouth. The large laceration in his neck oozed thick almost black vital fluid. His eyes were infernal staring into her dark recesses exposing her as not a monster but as the lost child she evidently was. She felt so weak.
This was hard enough killing 2 ponies but tomorrow 4 more needed to perish. Her mind was a flurry of doubt and more than anything else apprehension. Nothing was going to plan, her party had failed, and she had ended up killing the only pony in the world that she could trust. That is apart from herself. Herself and Rainbow Dash. Her mind jumped back to the event in yesterday morn. She had promised she would kill them.
New hope emerged within her and ecstasy accompanied with maniacal laughing followed.
“I’m sorry girls” she said aloud between laughter. “But I’m not done yet”
She still had a promise to keep and breaking a promise is the fastest way to lose a friend.
“There’s just Rainbow left who I can trust and tomorrow at least one will die, even if it is myself, I will commit fully to this task” Her laughter ceased and her voice grew quiet and shallow. The new found passion spurred her onward. She rolled the body up into the rug and lifting it onto her shoulder, she carried it into the kitchen and placed it in the bakery’s store room.
After mopping the floor of any trace of blood she declared the Sugarcube corner ‘closed’ although 1 hour was remaining until its normal closing time.
She returned to her room for the night and was lying over the top of her bed.
“Party went off without a hitch gummy” she said sarcastically. A croak of understanding was heard from under her bed.
She sighed and rolled onto her side facing the window, she watched the orange glimmer fade from the sky and continued to think about the next day and about her preparations needed to visit each pony individually. She didn’t feel entirely rueful for what she had done as it was a ‘small’ downside in the bigger picture. She continued to muse over these sentiments until her somnolent state got the better of her and she drifted into a monotonous sleep.
Her hooves pounded on the cobbled road as she ran. A dust trail was faintly visible behind her. She glanced up quickly at the clock tower 5:56, the party started at 6, she needed to hurry. The preparations needed for the night were complete however they ran over the time slot which she needed for the party. Rarity was never late even if she was the only pony going.
The wind brushed her mane as she ran, pink hair steaming over her face making all vision rather difficult however due to her living in Ponyville most her life she could practically recall the route blindfolded however needless to say her mind was focused upon other things.
The preparations which she had done would have all been sufficient providing on how well she knew her friends. As interpreting how they would react to her presence once she was fitted with a weapon was essential to prevent it getting sloppy. Everything needed to go to plan, it was just the way she liked it.
She could see Sugarcube corner now. There were two ponies standing outside however she could immediately recognise either from such a distance. One pony pointed in her direction then notifying the other, both began waving at her, one of them was rarity she believed however the other she still couldn’t tell.
Two ponies would make all the difference in this case. Killing Rarity didn’t seem like much of a challenge if it were just the two of them however throwing another Pony into the equation almost balanced it.
She slowed to a walk once she was a few metres away, she could now make out the other Pony. Fluttershy.
“Pinkie my dear, where have you been, we thought you had cancelled on us?” asked Rarity once pinkie had reach them.
“Oh no, I was just picking up some supplies for them party, I’d forgotten a few things” she said gesturing to the bag on her back which contained the equipment for the preparations.
She reached for the handle and opened the door. “I didn’t think you were coming Fluts” said Pinkie
“Neither did I, I’ve only just managed finished tending to my animals as I didn’t think I would make it before, sorry for the short notice” said Fluttershy
Pinkie smiled in acknowledgement.
“Why didn’t you two just go in?” asked pinkie trying to initiate conversation.
“It didn’t seem right, you know entering a party without the hostess” said Fluttershy from behind her.
“That’s fine you should have just went on in, I’m going to go get some stuff ready in the kitchen, you can both put some music on or something” said Pinkie smiling.
“Are you sure you don’t want a hoof dear” asked Rarity
“No.” Said Pinkie abruptly. “No thank you I mean I’ll be through in a few moments. She turned her back and walked into the kitchen.
She walked over to the table top where they would be able to see her and leant over it. She needed to find a way to separate them. Luckily two ponies in one place had its advantages; it would make up for the time she lost as they would both be more or less at the same time. The oblivious downside was she now had to find a way to separate them or take them both out at the same time quickly.
She glanced around the room and her eyes set on the oven. She could begin the gas flow and blow the house up she thought. That would surely kill the two of them. However the large explosion would gather a crowd and if Twilight or Applejack were in it there was no way she would be able to get them in this final night. She sighed at the loss of possibility. Music was now able to be heard from the next room.
She was going to have to separate them. But how? She glanced into the Party room; Rarity was dancing back to back with Fluttershy. She looked across the kitchen for inspiration. Her eyes drifted over to a photo of her and Gummy on the window ledge. He was only a baby at that point, he was so cute. She was going to miss him, when this was all over there was little chance of her seeing him again. Knowing this, as part of her preparations she had given him to Scootaloo saying that she was going on holiday and she needed someone to look after him. When this was all over it was very likely she would be caught.
The police now used magic as part of their CSI. There was no way she could avoid leaving a single trace of evidence even if it was just one pony in one night. She had gotten lucky with Rainbow however, due to the town being rather small few paid attention to the disappearance of a rather ‘loose cannon’. However as soon as four more die in one night, likely many will notice. For this reason she wasn’t going to bother hiding the remains. She had one night to do this; anything else was just a distraction tonight it had to all happen... For Rainbows sake.
She picked up the frame of her and gummy and removed the picture inside. She was going to need this she thought when she was on the run she was going to miss gummy. Gummy? Gummy!
The little reptile had given her a parting gift. A method to separate the two of them. She was going to exploit Fluttershy’s love for animals.
Pinkie trotted into the party room. “Sorry about the wait I was fixing up some things for Gummy-“she spoke loudly over the music.
“Oh I heard off Applejack that he was ill, the poor thing, would you mind if I came to see him” asked Fluttershy demurely.
“Of course Fluttershy, your wonderful with animals, he’s just upstairs” she said happily.
Perfect she thought.
"Rarity will you be coming up” asked Fluttershy.
Please decline, Please decline, Please decline thought Pinkie worried.
“No darling I’m quite enjoying this tune, its rather mellifluous.” Replied Rarity, shaking her mane in tempo with the music.
Pinkie and Fluttershy acknowledge and began walking up the stairs.
“He’s just in the second door of on the left opposite the lavatory.” Informed Pinkie.
Fluttershy rushed ahead and entered the room.
She walked briskly behind her and detached a knife from behind a painting in the hallway. Pinkies breathing quickened the familiar bloodlust danced in her mind. Her eyes narrowed and a deep smile emerged across her face, she was beginning to enjoy this. She walked into the doorway with the knife behind her leg.
“I can’t find him” said Fluttershy worried, facing pinkie.
Gesturing with the other hoof. “He’s there” Said pinkie pointing into blank space behind Fluttershy.
Fluttershy spun on the spot. Revealing the knife, pinkie walked alongside Fluttershy and I one swift movement placed a hoof around her mouth and planted the knife between her ribs.
A muffled scream was heard immediately from Fluttershy, Pinkie wrapped her hoof around her mouth tighter to prevent it again. She hoped Rarity didn’t hear.
Blood came pouring forth from the open gash in her side. Removing the knife she adjusted her grip and stabbed once again this time higher up the body. Fluttershys hooves flailed beneath her and she fell to the floor. A new wound also began to pour forth blood but not as quickly as the first. Fluttershy still struggled against Pinkie but was starting to tire. Despite this, she was taking too long she needed to finish this quickly.
She removed the knife quickly from her torso and applied pressure with her hooves to Fluttershys lower back. Her spine arched upward and reviled a yellow neck wide open.
She smiled with satisfaction and punctured the yellow neck with several brisk repetitive movements. The amount of blood was surprising to her, neither Mr Cake nor Rainbow bled this much. A few gargles or blood corrupted lungs were heard and simply the faint sound of music was heard again. Visible tears were formed around Fluttershys face. A large pool of blood had formed around the once yellow pony.
Pinkie sighed; the sweetest of sights in her opinion was before her. A long awaited moment was finally here; she was almost half way done and was looking forward to the next. Knowing she didn’t have to tidy up the body was a real relief.
“I hope you don’t mind dear but I thought I would freshen up before I ate is that-“
Rarity appeared in the doorway. Her mouth dropped and eyes scanned the room, first at Fluttershy then at Pinkie, then the knife then she stared straight into Pinkie’s eyes. Fear emerged behind Rarity’s beautiful blue eyes. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out.
A smile spread across Pinkies face baring her teeth. She began slowly walking toward Rarity.
“No...No what did you...? You monster” Rarity spoke whilst walking backward.
Pinkie was now 3 foot away. “I’m not going to let you...” Rarity’s voice trailed off and her eyes set on the knife. Rarity turned quickly and ran into the lavatory shutting the door behind her.
Pinkie ran up to the door and pressed against it, it was locked. She swore.
“HELLP SOMEPONY PLEASEEE!” came Rarity’s voice through the door.
The Window. She couldn’t fit through there but she could shout through it. Taking a run up Pinkie threw herself at the door. And again, and again. Her shoulder was bruising.
“QUICKLY SOMEPONY PLEASEEEE...”
And again. The door made sounds of cracking. And again. And again.
“ANYPONY.....!”
The door caved in off the lock on the 7th attempt. Rarity had forced her head and shoulders through the gap in the window but was wedged due to her forelegs.
“Pinkie please, don’t...” pleaded Rarity. Pinkie wiped Fluttershy’s blood onto Rarity’s back in response. “Pinkie no, don’t please I’m begging you.
“...Too late.”
She stabbed rarity in the back of the neck and grabbing hold of her hind legs pulled her back into the room, her chin hit off the floor. Her body had went limp.
Pinkie rolled her over and looked at her face. Her eyes had rolled back into her head and a steady stream of poured from underneath. Pinkie pressed her head against Rarity’s chest. There was a very small but still existent beat.
“I’ll fix that” said Pinkie with a smile.
Raising the knife above her head she pierced the left side of her chest. Pulling the knife out, she did it again this time in the abdominal region. She stabbed Rarity 5 more times before she was content she was dead. The pool of blood was much larger than before. Pinkie was soaked in blood.
Rarity’s luscious mane was covered in blood and for a pony that spent her entire life trying to look beautiful, she found it ironic how she died so brutally and as she would put it ‘Unglamorously’
There was just twilight and Applejack remaining. Kindness and generosity were gone.
Pinkie looked out the window of Sugarcube corner. It was dark out. She smiled, this would prove advantageous, and the night would provide cover of her final amendments to the world. She reached the door and took a step outside; she glanced down at her body. She was still covered in blood from her previous two amendments.
She needed to find a way to hide the blood as even an initial glimpse would terrorize anypony and she couldn’t afford to lose the element of surprise. She needed as many advantages at this point as possible, simple preparations were not enough to secure her the final killings.
She headed back into the house and found Rarity’s cloak she had worn for the party. It was a deep purple with golden lining around the edges. She wrapped it around herself, it smelled faintly of lavender and little to her surprise fit well as her and Rarity were of a very similar build. She spun the sign of the Sugarcube corner to ‘close’ and locked the door. This was likely the final time she would ever do that she thought. It was a milestone she had never saw herself finally doing, at least anytime soon. She always saw herself handing it over to a younger equally enthusiastic (if possible) mare who she would have trained just like Mr Cake did her to continue the legacy of Sugarcube corner. Then she would retire but still visit to check up on things too ensure they maintained the highest standard Pinkie always had. She would never fulfil this moment she thought.
It was a dream she once thought was almost certain, a dream now lost along with the memories fond memories of all she knew.
She blamed them for this. They twisted her life. A spiralling cess-pool of lies and betral.
She sighed and shut the door firmly. She turned to face the night. It was dark by 6:40. Which was expectable for this time of year; there would still be some ponies around but it would be best to avoid them she thought. Keeping confrontations to a minimal would be easier than killing when she didn’t need to. She only wanted to kill those who had wronged her, no others needed to be harmed unless they stop her reaching her prize.
She kept to the back streets. The purple cloak blended into the darkness and with it pulled right over her head she was a mere shadow. She could see the library in the centre of the housing row, standing out due to it being the only building constructed on an enchanted tree.
She reached the door of the library and glanced through the window to the right of it. Spike was asleep, as usual, and twilight was lying on her bed reading a book. The floor was scattered with books and research papers, documents reporting Twilight’s findings. Pinkie rolled her eyes, that pony never stopped. At least she’ll be doing what she loved.
The preparations pinkie had done were very much dependant on how well she knew twilight. In her eyes twilight was very much a creature of habit and it was simply a matter of time. However the event which she hoped was hinging on her opening a very specific book, in which was a spring loaded clump of poison joke which would hopefully render twilights horn useless leaving her vulnerable. She could try and surprise her and kill her quickly but any mistake like with Rarity could prove disastrous especially with Twilights magic being so inestimable.
The book she needed to open was currently being read for pleasure rather than study, ‘Marelin’ a book based on a mythical wizard long ago. She had been reading it consistently every night for the past week. It was simply a matter of time before she opened the book then it would be downhill from there, It was all a matter of waiting.
Pinkie glanced through the window every now and again to check up on Twilight. She had been studying for the past hour, and still was.
The chill of the night was getting to her. She wrapped the cloak around herself tightly and sat beneath the window, hidden by the greenery. Her eyes drifted up to the starry night sky. Luna’s moon was in full view. A delicate light covered the surroundings.
Pinkie closed her eyes.
“Oh what the? Spike...Spike!” came a voice from in the house.
Pinkie’s eyes snapped open and she gingerly raised her head to view through the window.
“Spike was this you?!” said Twilight bearing down on the small dragon.
Spike was in fits of puerile laughing and rolled on the floor. Twilight frowned.
Her horn was beginning to flex slowly and blue patches form on it. Pinkie smiled, she was too predictable.
Spike spoke between laughter “twi....light.....fl....flopple”. Fell back onto the floor again and continued another division of laughter. Twilight rolled her eyes.
Picking him up by the tail she put him in the spare room and shut the door.
“Until you calm down you’re going to stay in there!” Shouted Twilight through the door.
No more Spike to deal with thought Pinkie. A smile spread across her lips as she drew the knife from the cloaks deep pockets. Twilight headed back up the stairs and began reading the book. Fits of laughter were still emitting from the spare room.
Pinkie walked cautiously up the door and removed the key she stored next to the library sign. It was part of her preparations to copy the key and a rather essential part of the plan. The slid the key into the lock and with a slow twist a click was heard.
Being as quiet as possible was paramount for this to work. She grabbed the handle of the door and, pressing against it, she gradually opened the door just enough room for her to squeeze in. She shut the door to prevent a draft equally as careful as she had opened it.
So far she was unnoticed; Twilight was still reading her book.
The floor of the library was scattered with books, piled high due to them being alphabetized. Pinkie crept through the minefield of knowledge, each step placed carefully to avoid any sound.
She reached the bottom of the stairs and stared up them. They were equally clustered as the main floor with stacks of books trailing up the side closest to the wall. She moved slower than she did on the main floor, she was so close now she couldn’t make a mistake.
She reached the top of the stairs. Twilight was 3 feet in front on her bed. With knife in hoof she approached the unsuspecting pony.
“Twi...” she said letting her voice drift.
“Pinkie! I didn’t know-“ said twilight, her surprise was cut short by a knife embedded into her gut.
Her eyes were wide staring at pinkie. Staring in disbelief at the being before her. Her mind worked motionlessly behind her eyes final few seconds counting down to a realization.
Pinkie pulled the knife out to strike a final blow.
“SPI-“
The knife was plunged into her neck. Blood poured from her wound. Her deep purple eyes went dull as the moment seeped in. She was dying. Blood seeped from the sides of her mouth.
Blood soaked into the bed as well as Rarity’s cloak. A tear rolled down her cheek and landed in a pool of her blood. Her breathing stopped abruptly and her eyes grew glassy.
Pinkie sighed in relief, there was no more hiding. She had one more amendment. Failing to kill Applejack would result in her breaking a promise. I’ve came so far she thought. Staring into Twilights lifeless eyes. She pulled the knife out from her throat in a quick action. More blood came forth from the wound and soaked pinkie further. She stood up off the bed and walked to the window.
The clock tower read 11:08. Less than an hour to reach Applejack. Less than an hour to get what she wanted most. She pulled open the window and jumped out, landing in the bush below to break her fall. Glancing out to see if any pony was watching she met with the path and began walking to her terminal destination.
She was running as fast as she could, the blood stained cloak streaming behind her. Apple acres was a 20 minute walk out of Ponyville, even at this pace she would be cutting it close. As even 40 minutes to kill a pony was nothing like the time scale she had prepared, as she had left a comfortable hour for each of them. She hated the feeling of being rushed.
The she ran past the barn and through to the front of the house. All the lights were out, likely the whole family was asleep she guessed which was expectable for this time of night. She had memorized the layout of the house, Applejacks was the back left room. She made her way round the side of the house. A ladder was by the side of the house, she had made note of that. She lifted it up off the ground and propped it against the wall next to the window being careful not to accidently hit the window which would alert her target. She removed the cloak and climbed the ladder warily. She glanced in through the window. Squinting to make out what was inside. The bed was empty.
She swore and climbed down the ladder. She hadn’t planned for this. Pinkie pressed her head against the wall. This error of misjudgement may end up costing her the final amendment. She turned and pressed her back to the wall. Rain began to fall, softly patting her on her cheeks.
She squinted at the barn in the distance. A faint light was visible from the window. How had she failed to notice that when she ran past it, she thought? Leaving the cloak behind, she sped off towards the barn each step echoing in her mind as a second ticking away.
The barn door was ajar. The faint light was a lamp hanging from a nail propped to one of the wooden posts. She dubiously opened the door and walked inside the smell of hay and earth was strong from within.
“Ah new you’d come fer me.” Came the southern accent to the left of her.
Pinkie spun quickly on the spot knife in hand. Applejack lay on her back in the hay, in her hoof was a shotgun. Pinkies eyes widened at the sight of it.
“So what now pink?” Said Applejack standing up. “Were you gonna kill me?”
Pinkie stood silent for the moment. Then began approaching Applejack slowly.
“Pink, don’t think I won’t do it” said Applejack calmly.
Pinkie continued her advance, the knife raised in front.
“Pinkie! Ah will shoot!” said Applejack louder this time.
Pinkie stopped abruptly and stared at the gun, then at Applejack.
“Do it then” she said. A large smile spread across her face. She closed her eyes.
“ah’m sorry Pink” said Applejack holding the weapon firmer. “ah truly am”
She fired the gun. The shot continued in Pinkies mind. The gentle rain hitting the roof of the barn was the only thing heard. She opened her eyes.
Coloured streamers floated down from around her and party streamers fell from the end of the barrel. She looked at Applejacks face contorted in horror.
“Surprise...” said Pinkie. That was the last preparation she had done, and the one she was now most thankful for.
She lifted the knife higher and ran toward Applejack.
Applejack was frozen in disbelief.
Pinkie had little time left and she knew it, she forced all of her momentum into the knife. Into Applejack.
Applejack fell to her back, the knife deep in her chest. Smiling pinkie withdrew the knife and plunged it into her again. Blood sprayed out with each strike. Multiple gaping holes emerged on the orange chest. Spontaneous laughter came from Pinkie as she realized what she was doing.
Applejack was the final pony. The final amendment. The promise was completed. She stood up from the heavily bloodied corpse, leaving the knife in the disembodied form of Applejack. She sighed in great relief, it was done.
“You finally did it” came Rainbows voice from behind.
She turned around slowly. A pool of rainwater had gathered on the floor. Next to it stood the white Pegasus.
“I’m finished” said Pinkie “I’ve done what you asked of me”. Pinkie stepped closer to the emblematic friend.
“Before you receive your gift, tell me.” Rainbow hesitated. “Why did you so willingly kill our friends?”
Pinkies eyes narrowed. “They betrayed me, they spent my life lying about liking me, shouldering off every last token I gave them of my longing desire for friendship.”
“I understand.” Rainbow refused to make eye contact. “I wish to share something with you before the gift, share a memory”
A look of curiosity appeared on Pinkies face. She dropped to her knees.
Sudden images, thought bombarded her mind. Images of her birthday, her friends setting up balloons, Twilight picking up the cake. They were talking. She heard Fluttershy’s voice strongly above others. “She is going to love this” it said. “best birthday she’ll have had” said another one unrecognisable.
‘I’m so exited for pinkie to arrive thought Rainbow; I just know she’s going to love it.’
“We’ve been planning for months I do hope she likes it’” came the voice of Rarity.
A final image of them all in the party stood out above all others.
The memory from the white Pegasus ended.
Pinkies eyes opened. Tears began to pour forth from them.
“How....why....”she was lost for words. Tears streamed down her face. She tried to process the information warping through her mind.
She looked at her reflection in the pool of rainwater. Her face was covered in blood, her mane was dark.
“I’m a monster.” She said between sobs.
I’ve based by entire final existence on a lie. I’ve killed all my friends because I saw the worst in them she thought. She stared at her fore hooves, they were shaking.
“what am I?” she said at last.
She sat there for a further few minutes contemplating the memory she had been given.
Rainbow finally interrupted. “Do you want your present now?” Pinkie raised her head. Streaks of tears had formed on her face.
She nodded slowly.
“I must warn you first” said Rainbow slowly.
Pinkie wiped her eyes from the remaining tears and listened closely.
“The gift shall take you back to your friends; however are you sure you want to leave the world you have now created.” Said Rainbow whilst leering at Pinkie.
Almost immediately Pinkie nodded, still staring at her own reflection as more tears welled up in her eyes.
“I see” said Rainbow. She crouched down next to Pinkie and placed a hoof on her shoulder. “If your mind is truly made up then it would be of no interest telling you that you can never return to this world”
Pinkie remained silent. Still deep in thought over how meaningless everything she aspired to achieve was all a sadistic lie to secure her own vanity.
“Ok then, off we go” said Rainbow raising her fore hooves.
A bright light illuminated the entire room. The room around her began to tear away by some unseen force. Everything slowly atomized centring gradually toward Pinkie herself. She raised a hoof and watched it be taken away; she smiled at the optimistic thought of her new world, and seeing her friends again.
After all that time, thinking of them as friends was almost alien to her; however she embraced it all the same.
She awoke with a start in her bed. Gummy, like always was sitting on her chest, he gave her the usual morning croak.
She slowly opened her eyes. Memories suddenly flooded back to her of Rainbow and the atrocities she had committed. She sat up with a start, almost catapulting Gummy off her chest. She squeezed him tightly.
“Never again Gummy.” She squeezed him tighter.
She picked up her ears. Music could be heard from downstairs. She jumped out of bed as an overwhelming happiness surged through her body. She ran out her room and practically fell down the stairs in her haste. She glanced into the room.
It was definitely a ‘Pinkie Pie’ party, balloons were out, and bright colourful streamers decorated the room. There was a great spread of food on the table. The banner above the table read ‘Welcome back Rainbow!’
She walked slowly into the room taking in all there was to see.
“She won Pinkie she won!” Mr Cake emerged from the kitchen holding an envelope, a smile was coating his face. She was so happy to see him; she had missed him so much since they last saw each other.
Pinkie gave a puzzled look in return.
“The bakery contest, she won” repeated Mr Cake with equal enthusiasm.
She pondered for a moment. “Oh Congratulations Mr Cake I’m so happy for you two” Pinkie put on her best smile.
Mr Cake smiled back and returned to the kitchen, a noticeable spring in his step had emerged.
“Pinkie, great party, as always.” Said Twilight, with Rarity at her side.
She smiled uncontrollably. Her two friends had greeted her.
“I just know Rainbow will love it” said Rarity smiling.
Her mind suddenly went blank at the mention of Rainbow. She was alive in this world. A smile erupted on her face.
“Where is Rainbow I have to see her?” Said Pinkie abruptly.
A confused look came on Twilights face. “You were the one who told me she was at her home”
“Oh sorry” an immediate idea emerged in her mind. “Twilight can you still remember the spell which allowed us to walk on cloud?” asked Pinkie coltishly.
“Pinkie, Rainbow will be down in an hour she said, you were there my dear” said Rarity.
“I know” she lied. “But have to see her now” begged Pinkie.
“Fine” Said Twilight sighing. Her horn began to glow with the violet magic light; the light surrounded Pinkie then disappeared in an instant. “It will only last an hour; I couldn’t remember the full incantation-.”
Before Twilight could finish Pinkie had ran out the back. “Thanks Twi”
The flying machine Pinkie had made or, ‘crazy contraption’ as it was otherwise know stood round the back of Sugarcube corner, under a white sheet for cover.
She approached the machine and pulled the sheet downward from it. The machine had only been used a hoofful of times. It was designed by Twilight however Pinkie herself had the fortune to construct it but due to Twilight’s complex drawings it was no easy feat.
She climbed aboard the machine and began pedalling the way she had been told too by Twilight. The immediate take off was the most difficult on her. The strain of getting airborne was much more than keeping it airborne. Once in the air she could practically do it all day.
She eventually got lift and began the ascent toward the few sky houses in Ponyville. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, despite Rainbows absence the weather teams had maintained the standard Rainbow always strived to achieve, even if it wasn’t in ten seconds flat.
Rainbows home was very high up in comparison to other. It was mostly the reason she choose to nap below, because her house was so high up.
Pinkie finally reached the front of the house, landing the machine on the small porch of cloud; she jumped off and approached the door.
She lifted a hoof to knock but stopped suddenly in a moment of realization and a sudden feeling of not belonging. She stopped and looked down.
Rainbow is dead. I killed her she thought. This world is not mine. Tears welled up in her eyes.
She wanted nothing more than to open the door and to see her, to talk to her. She suppressed the thoughts of the alternate reality she had created. The friends who had greeted her were not her friends, she had killed them, seemingly a long time ago.
A tear rolled down her cheek. I am a monster. Who am I to take this away from the other Pinkie? The other Pinkie who didn’t let jealousy and vanity take over her life.
“Im sorry Rainbow, I’ve failed you” she said no louder than a whisper. She turned to walk away.
“Hey Pinkie, I thought I heard you out here wh-“Rainbows voice came from behind her. She stopped talking suddenly when she had seen pinkies deflated mane.
Pinkie turned to face her. Rainbow was just as beautiful as Pinkie could remember but her worried face was still a sickly reminder of the reality she had once lived.
Rainbow rushed over and embraced her once she saw the tears. “Pinkie its ok, what happened?
Pinkie hugged back. The feel of Rainbow was so treasured; she could have spent an eternity there; locked in the embrace of the mare she desired most.
“Promise me something Rainbow” Pinkie spoke at last. “Promise me you’ll do what I ask.”
Rainbow released the hug. “Sure Pinkie anything, I promise, now what’s the matter?”
Pinkie ignored the question and took a step backward toward the edge of the cloud. A smile of happiness shone on her face.
“I asked you to promise this, don’t hold it against yourself.”
“Ok fine, what do I have to do? Asked Rainbow worried.
She took another step backward into nothingness, the smile still shining on her face. “Don’t catch me.”
