//-------------------------------------------------------// How to train your changeling -by Ice Skull 606- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue It was a day like any other for Rim, sleeping, eating, combat ground training, flying training, dragon breath training and going home. This has been going on for six months now and it shows no sign of stopping any time soon. But one day Rim had just finished his training for the day and he started to head home in the Everfree forest but instead of walking home he decided to fly home. About half way through his flying something strange started to happen to the night sky. Weird purple clouds started to form in the sky. Rim felt magic fueling the strange purple clouds but then a circle started to form inside of the purple cloud and it started to pull Rim inside of the circle. After going through the circle for about three seconds, there was a bright flash of light and then he saw the night sky again. But something didn't feel right , like it was different somehow. But before he could finish that train of thought, something hit him . Something like rope and metal and it tied itself around him and then it propelled him forward. He collided with something very large and scaly. This thing veered to the left and Rim turned slightly to the right. Before he landed, he knocked into three or four trees and crash landed on the ground. As he started to loose consciousness he tried very hard not to black out because he could feel something or someone looming over him. But it was all in vain. He was out cold. When he woke up, it was morning. in a strange forest. He was ensnared in rope and metal,. He was in a lot of pain and very confused and disoriented At the same time Rim was waking up, the creature who shot Rim down was tracking him. The tracker's name was Hiccup Horrendous Haddock iii and when he saw Rim, he realized he was the one who shot the guy down. Hiccup's confused thoughts were whirling about him. Who was this creature and what type of creature was it. He had never seen such an animal before in his life. How was it able to fly? What was under it's cloak? He needed to find out. Rim, however, was recovering from the pain and trying to figure out where he was. He started looking around when his eyes landed upon a strange hairless ape that he had never seen before. The ape, of course, was Hiccup. He tried to move away from the ape but he fell right back down. Rim looked at his right foreleg because it had cracks in it from the fall. The ape took a step closer with a dagger in it's hand. Hiccup (the ape) just looked at Rim and he saw fear in Rim's eyes and for a moment he felt bad for Rim. Hiccup said "I did this"? He started turning around to walk away but stopped and looked back at the thing that he shot down. Rim's eyes snapped open and he felt the rope around his body being tugged loose by the ape. As the ropes around him started to become slack, Rim jumped up and tackled Hiccup to the ground. Standing over the ape and looking it in the eyes, Rim started to rear up and roared in hiccup's face. After that, Rim decided to run away. About six seconds after fleeing, Rim, the Changeling, fell down in to a cove with stone walls all around him and a small water hole. Pulling himself up he drank some water and found a spot under a tree and next to a big rock where he fell asleep. Before he closed his eyes, he spotted a big black lump on the ground next to him. Author's Note This story will have a female toothless and male stormfly. hiccup finds Rim instead of toothless I thought it would be interesting to see what would happened if he find out that he got the wrong one what would be the different event that will take place or will nothing change at all Here are the known pairings for now Hiccup x Astrid //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 meeting toothless //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 meeting toothless When Rim woke up injured and afraid, he looked around to get his bearings. He saw that it was the middle of the day. While he was inspecting his surroundings, his eyes landed upon the big black lump next to him. On closer inspection he saw black scales all over the lump. This confused him because he couldn't remember the last time he saw anything with big black scales. And then he realized that this was a dragon. Since he was actually raised by dragons, it eased his fear. Rim felt a sharp pain in his right front foreleg. Looking down he saw that there was a lot of green blood pooling around his leg. He struggled to stand up but he became disoriented from the exertion. He also felt a lot of pain around his chest. This was from his fall and the hard landing. He thought to himself that by all rights, he should be dead from the landing. At the same time, the dragon started to move. As it started to get up, it looked around the area and saw Rim and wondered what type of this creature was. The night fury began moving slowly and quietly toward Rim. She wanted to know what the creature looked like under his or her cloak's hood. Standing over it , she let out a nervous breath which accidentally alerted Rim to her Presence. At the same time, the hood was moved enough to reveal a horn. Rim finally looked up from his wounds to notice that the dragon was standing over him. As he looked up, the rest of his face was revealed. The dragon had no idea what type of creature this was. She was a little afraid because she didn't know what it was capable of. Could it overpower her or hurt her in some way? She wondered if it could speak, crawl, stand, walk, swim or fly. She sees that it has a broken foreleg and so probably can't walk ,stand or swim. She also sees that one wing is missing and the other is bruised. This means it can't fly either. Her fears evaporate and she feels only pity because it was hurt. Rim mistook her facial expression of pity for smug satisfaction of his weakened state. He started focusing into his horn to lift the dragon into the air. Slowly the dragon began to rise up into the air surrounded by a green glow. The dragon's facial expression changed to one of surprise. Rim started to smirk, happy to wipe that smug look off her face. As usual, Rim was imagining that her smugness was real. This was due to his weakened state messing with him. She was truly surprised that this entity had so much power. She wondered where it was coming from. Her eyes landed upon the horn because it was glowing the same color as the aura around her. She tried to move her body to escape the aura's hold on her. As she struggled, she felt he aura around her starting to weaken. She moved more and more until it broke. She fell to the ground and quickly stood up. Rim felt an agonizing pain as the telekinesis broke. His nose was bleeding from the exertion of the use of this magic. It also jolted his memory and It reminded him that he had a first aid kit in his saddle bags. He used his good leg to dig the kit out of the bag. He knows that he is too weak to bandage his wounds but he is too stubborn to allow someone else to help him. So he decides to try it himself anyway. He is only able to do half the job. He feels the dragon's Dragon eyes on him but he ignores her. After struggling for a while, he finally decides to swallow his pride and ask for help. He says in a tired and annoyed voice "can you please help me with the bandages?" The dragon replies "why should I help you? You just attacked me." Rim says "I'm sorry I attacked you, so can you please help me?" After a few seconds the dragon finally replies, "fine!" She helps him remove his cloak and a lille while later Rim was all bandaged up. She finished dressing his wounds, bandaging the cracks and helping him to be more comfortable and Rim muttered his thanks. The two of them began to converse. At first they just talked about menial things but later they discussed more important questions. Rim started to say "where am I exactly ?" The dragon answered with "the archipelago ". Rim asked another question, "who are you?" She replied, "I don't remember my name" . Rim noticed that she appeared to not have any teeth. This seemed weird for a dragon. Then suddenly an idea popped into his head. Rim asked "why don't you call yourself toothless?" The newly dubbed toothless, replied "toothless? But why would you ask that?" Rim replied "because it's better than not having name at all." "But I'm not toothless. I have teeth". She decides to put the conversation in the back of her mind for later. She begins to ask Rim what he is. She asks him and he replies "I'm a changeling." Toothless was perplexed at this information. What was a changeling? Then she decides to ask a different question . "What do changelings do and what is your name?" Rim says "my name is Rim and changelings do a lot of different things. They eat a special type of food and they have many types of powers." Rim asks her what type of dragon she is and she replies," I am a night fury." After Toothless says that, Rim thinks, what type of dragon is that? After a Few minutes Rim felt extremely tired from the long day. He decided to turn in for the night Rim said goodnight to toothless And she said goodnight back. Author's Note In this story toothless and hiccup are ages 3 a part of one another toothless is not the same age as each other so that why toothless is 3 years old then hiccup. Age Rim 19 Toothless 18 Hiccup 15 Astrid 15 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 a new friend made //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 a new friend made The next day Rim woke up to the oddest sight he had ever seen in his life. He saw Toothless with a hairless monkey and they appeared to be making friends. He knew this because Toothless was letting the monkey touch her snout. Rim thought, why do I always have to witness the weirdest things imaginable. In fact, this monkey was actually a human man, but Rim had never seen a human and so thought it was a hairless ape. Hiccup, the human, was trying to make Toothless trust him. . All this started when Toothless woke up and she realized Rim was still asleep. She decided to look for some food in the little lake nearby. She attempted to catch the fish but her skill level was rusty. She becomes frustrated and annoyed and gives up trying. She starts going towards the trees to relax but she stops midway because she picks up a familiar scent. She dashes to a rock formation and perches on top of it. She then crouches down to see who it is without being seen. As Hiccup enters the cove for the first time with a shield and a fish he is unable to get the shield through the opening, so he leaves it and enters with just the fish. He is looking around for Rim Because Hiccup thinks Rim is a type of odd dragon. His eyes land upon a night fury instead. At first he becomes a little nervous because he knows this is a real dragon not like Rim. He decides to try and win the dragon's trust by offering the fish to it. Toothless slowly comes down off the rock and approaches this Viking who has a fish that she really wants. She is very cautious about taking the fish. Out of the corner of her eye she spots something shiny on the viking's belt. She growls a little as a warning. Hiccup looks around to see what is setting it off. He finds his dagger and realizes that's what is setting it off. He picks it off his person and then drops it onto the ground. Then he picks it up and tosses it into the lake. Toothless relaxes a little after that and begins to approach Hiccup because she is very hungry. She bites the fish and swallows it whole. After awhile she regurgitates the fish onto Hiccup's lap. He's totally disgusted to see the fish on his lap. Toothless motions him to take a bite of the fish. Hiccup looks down at it and back to Toothless and sighs, exasperated. Toothless growls at him to make him bite the fish. Finally Hiccup gives in and takes a bite. He pretends to like it in order to make Toothless trust him. But because he didn't swallow, Toothless didn't t trust him. She gestured for him to swallow and Hiccup begrudgingly swallowed. Hiccup smiled weakly. Toothless tried to smile but dragons have a hard time trying to smile. Hiccup gently put the rest of the fish down and reached out to Toothless to pet her. She growled defensively and glided away. A few hours later near sunset, Hiccup was drawing a picture of Toothless in the dirt. Toothless was hanging upside down, by her tail from a tree branch. She glanced over at Hiccup to see if he was still there and to see what he was doing She jumped down and righted herself before landing on the ground. Then she walked over to see what he was doing. She sat down next to him to really get a closer look. As she scanned the picture, she was inspired to draw her own picture. She went and got a stick which was really a branch but a stick to her, and began drawing. As she was drawing, she accidentally swatted Hiccup in the head with the branch. She finished fre drawing and put down the stick. She admired her work at the same time Hiccup started getting up from his rock. As he walked over to her he accidentally stepped on a line of her drawing and she growled at him. Hiccup took his foot off the line and she stopped growling. So Hiccup stepped carefully over that line and all the others. He slowly reached his arm out to her and she reached down with her head and pressed her snout into his hand. Finally trust was starting to form betweenn them. Meanwhile Rim has been watching this bond form but didn't understand what he was seeing. He thought , for some reason, that she was giving up her freedom. He got furiously angry towards Hiccup mainly because he was hungry and hunger causes him not to think rationally. He charges in to their space and tries to impale Hiccup with his horn. Hiccup hears him coming and tries to outrun him. Through dumb luck, he manages to outrun Rim. Toothless is dumbstruck to see Rim chasing Hiccup off. She tries to get Rim 's attention by yelling at him to stop. Rim turns around and gives her a predatory look while drooling and growling and showing just how hungry he really is. Toothless takes a step back from shock and surprise. She had never seen Rim this predatory. She began searching for food for her friend to soothe him but she didn't know what to give him. She had no idea what he liked to eat. Rim charged at her, trying to tackle her but she was running away from him. Of course, when Rim starts running his hunger increases which makes him more angry and now he's desperate. He will do anything to get some food. He's unable to use his wings because they are still healing from the fall. He decides to use his ice breath to slow her down. It hits her back leg trapping the leg in an ice block. Because he was still running toward her, his momentum caused him to bump into her back. Rim circles around to the front of Toothless and uses one of his spells. This spell controls her mind and then drains some of her love emotion. This is what changelings eat, other creatures emotions. Now Rim is partially satisfied and the anger has subsided. He feels much better than he was feeling. He fires up his horn in order to break the spell on Toothless. Once the spell is broken, Toothless vents her anger and frustration on Rim. She yells at him for scaring her half to death. Then Rim gets mad again at being yelled at. They continue to argue because Toothless called Rim a monster. This hurt Rim's feelings worse than an arrow in his shoulder. He actually shed a tear because he was so angry. Rim just walks away, not saying another word. He needed some time alone so he could cry without anyone seeing him. He walked over to the tree and laid down under it and cried himself to sleep. Author's Note The reason Rim can breath ice,fire and lightning is because he has a crystal necklace that has a dragon souls in it that's why he has dragon breaths attacks
