Chapter 1: The doctor is ready to see you now
It was a day just like any other in Ponyville. Birds were singing, flowers were blooming, life in Ponyville was great. But Ponyville was far from perfect.
Some ponies are still prone to disease, illness and other health related problems. That is where Ponyville General Hospital comes in. The hospital has helped countless ponies get back on their hooves and facing the world again. But the hospital can also be a dark place where ponies have to say their final goodbyes to their loved ones or maybe a surgery can go wrong and the patient can lose their life due to one simple mistake. Many things good and bad have happened in the Ponyville General Hospital but some old wounds never heal.
The hospital wasn’t too busy today but that didn’t stop Nurse Redheart from taking care of the fillies, colts, mares and stallions and helping them get back on their hooves. Nurse Redheart was trotting to room 165 to give a young filly named Lemon Twist who had the chicken pox her medicine. It was very rare for a pony to get the chicken pox so nopony knew how to handle it, not even Princess Celestia, Luna, or Twilight Sparkle but that didn’t stop Redheart from performing her duties as she loved fillies and colts like they were her own.
“Hello there Lemon Twist it’s time for your medicine.” Redheart said with glee as she put the medicine in her hoof and gave it to Lemon Twist.
“I don’t like the medicine, it tastes icky.” Lemon Twist complained and gave it back to Redheart angrily.
“If you don’t take your medicine you won’t get better.” Nurse red heart said with the sweetest voice anypony has ever heard.
“Oh alright.”, Lemon Twist said as she gulped down her medicine quickly. When it came to Nurse Redheart she had a lot of charm.
“You get some rest and I’ll see you in a couple hours alright.” Redheart said with a smile.
“Alright.” Lemon Twist nodded as she went back to sleep.
Nurse Redheart smiled and as Redheart leaft the room she hears an announcement come on over the loud speaker.
“Nurse Lyra please report to room 166 Nurse Lyra please report to room 166 thank you.”
“Lyra!” Redheart exclaimed. Lyra has only been working for a couple months and she has been called down to her bosses office for a meeting without Redheart. Redheart decided to peep on her boss and listen to what was going on without her boss knowing. It turns out that Lyra was about to be promoted. This infuriated Redheart as she trotted her way in and spoke out.
“I’ve been working here for years and you choose this bitch to be promoted!” Redheart yelled with all of her might as she slammed her hooves on the table. A piece of wood hit Redheart in her left hoof as it gave her a bloody splinter. The blood was not serious but wet yellow puss was forming around it. It was hard for her to walk it off as the splinter dug deeper under her skin. As Lyra came over to Redheart to help her treat her wound, Redheart shoved Lyra towards their bosses front door. “I can get it myself!” Redheart Exclaimed as she pulled the splinter out with her teeth and spit the chunk of wood on the floor. Puss and blood was oozing out of her hoof as she angrily trotted out of the office.
“Redheart wait!” Lyra called out to Redheart but no answer came back. After a long day of work, Lyra decided to talk to Bon-Bon about work. She trotted over to Bon-Bon who was near Sugar Cube Corner and sat down next to her.
“How was work Lyra.” Bon-Bon said with a smile on her face.
“It was strange today.” Lyra responded. “Redheart just snapped at me after I got promoted and I don’t know why.” Lyra thought a little about what could have caused Redheart to snap but drew a blank after about a minute of thinking. Meanwhile, Redheart was hiding behind a bush to peep on Lyra and Bon-Bon’s conversation wondering what they were talking about
“What did you get promoted to?” Bon-Bon asked.
“I got promoted to Head Nurse.” Lyra answered with happiness.
It turned out that not only was Lyra promoted but this also meant that Redheart was demoted to secondary nurse. Redhearts temperature rose up a few degrees out of anger as she angrily trotted away from Lyra and Bon-Bon. Just as Redheart left her anger changed to a smile as she calmed down and decided to go back to the hospital.
At the hospital, Redheart grabbed everything she needed from chloroform, syringes, painkillers, morphine, and other doctoral equipment she needed for what was to come. After all of that she got hungry so she went to Sugar Cube Corner to grab some rainbow cupcakes and then sat down to enjoy herself. “Tasty.” she thought to herself as she ate a rainbow cupcake. “Hey Pinkie-Pie, I think I know your secret ingredient to these wonderful cupcakes.” Redheart said.
“What is it?” said a nervous Pinkie-Pie.
“It’s Love.” Redheart replied to a relieved Pinkie-Pie as she ate another rainbow cupcake. As the sun went down Redheart wrote a letterto Lyra and left it in her mailbox while Lyra was with Bon-Bon. Lyra was talking to Bon-Bon for what seemed to be an eternity. When Lyra got home she opened the mailbox to find the letter that Redheart wrote and she started reading it.
Dear Lyra, I am so proud of the hard work that you have done over these past months in the hospital but I wanted to talk a little more about your promotion. Please meet me at the hospitals front doors as soon as you can. From, your boss
Lyra questioned why her boss never gave his name but she decided to go to the hospital anyway. When she arrived all she saw was another note which said “The Doctor is ready to see you now” the note was written in red but upon closer inspection was written in double O positive blood. As Lyra gasped a familiar shadowy figure behind Lyra covered her mouth with cloth filled with chloroform. After about a minute of struggling Lyra passed out on the floor.
“The Doctor is in” said a maniacally laughing Redheart.

This is the longest chapter I’ve ever done on a fanfiction website. I know it’s not long in story standards and I know I probably made lots of mistakes in writing a story (English and storytelling was never my strong suit, just imagination) so feel free to criticize me. This is my first story on fimfiction so I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. If this gets good reviews I will do the next chapter.
