Before recorded time on the world of Equus, there were spirits that guided the burgeoning civilisations... until one such spirit destroyed their peace and left the world in a darkness that it barely survived. Then, peace was restored by the efforts of the few good spirits that remained, but that time is over.

Now, Equestria is at peace, guided by the Princesses Celestia and Luna, and the rest of the world moves towards that selfsame peace. But all that changes when a ship from another world appears in the skies above Ponyville.

Now, a war beyond the thoughts of mortal beings beckons... and for Rainbow Dash, the Element of Loyalty, a test of just what kind of mare she really is, as she and her friends join a fight to save another world from a twisted mirror of their own beautiful home...
