Dear…
S pike was just writing down with his dull-tipped quill on a clean sheet of paper. The baby dragon was writing a letter, particularly a special letter.
A love letter!
The favorite spring holiday, Hearts and Hooves Day, was just tomorrow, and Spike was making this one especially for this occasion. Hearts and Hooves Day was that special day you would find that very special somepony you want to celebrate with, and Spike had one in mind — the lovely Rarity.
She was amazing, with her gorgeous, curly, violet mane and tail; her silky smooth white hide; her dazzling azure eyes with their fluttering eyelashes; her sweet voice. She was perhaps the most beautiful pony in all of Equestria.
His heart began beating break neck fast. How couldn’t you see anypony more beautiful in your whole life. She was just a dream.
He continued writing.
Dear Rarity, Roses are red, violets are blue. This letter lets you know how much I love you—
“Nah, too cliche.” He said to himself softly. He didn’t want to disturb Twilight Sparkle, the smart Unicorn who hatched him when he was an egg. He now lived with her as her number one assistant and friend at the Golden Oaks Library.
He took the paper, crumbled it up, and then tossed it away, where it met a towering pile of more crumbled up letters. Obviously, this wasn’t his first one.
He grabbed another sheet. Sticking his quill pen to his cheek, he tried to come up with something different. Something more original, and yet heartfelt.
“Hoot! ” a hoot rang out. It was Owlowicious, Twilight’s pet owl and nighttime assistant when Spike had to go to sleep. The nocturnal bird was up in his perch, watching the little dragon trying feverishly hard at writing the perfect Hearts and Hooves Day letter.
“What is it, Owlowicious,” Spike asked exasperatedly. “Can’t you see I’m trying to write a letter for Rarity?”
“Hoot! ”
“Rarity,” Spike replied. He couldn’t understand entirely if was the owl asking a question. Then again, when you’re talking with an owl, you can’t make out if he just saying “hoo” or “who.” “You know, the most beautiful unicorn ever.”
“Hoot! ”
Spike growled in exasperation. “Rarity! One of Twilight’s friends?! And one of my friends.” His voice grew soft. “One of my very special friends.”
He thought of how fortunate he was to have Rarity, especially as a friend. Rarity was sweet, caring, with a warm, generous heart. So generous in fact that she even represents the Element of Generosity, one of the powerful Elements of Harmony, which were used by her, Twilight Sparkle, and four other ponies that were also his dear friends.
He thought about those special others who would bring him so much joy and love. Spike could always look back, and see how Twilight made such wonderful friends, and how they in turn became his. He could never ask for anypony better.
Realizing that he was lost in thought, the little dragon shook his head, and went back to writing his letter. Now he knew for sure what he wanted to write down.
Dear Rarity,
This Hearts and Hooves Day I just want to let you know how much you mean to me. You are the most beautiful Unicorn ever. And not just in Ponyville, but in all of Equestria. I want to let you know how much I love you, and I always will.

Spike then took the letter, placed it in a bright red envelope, sealed it, and then wrote Rarity’s name on the back.
“There, all done!” He exclaimed triumphantly. “Now for be…”
The dragon dropped to the floor, and passed out into a sleep. He had been working so hard tonight he finally deserved that long rest. But before he could get to his bed, he suddenly collapsed on the floor. It didn’t matter. He just couldn’t wait to deliver that letter to the pony of his dreams tomorrow.

Chapter 2 = Happy Hearts and Hooves Day!
Morning arrived, and Spike was still asleep in the middle of the library.
A shadow loomed over him.
“Spike?!” a familiar voiced called out to him.
The dragon woke up in a jolt. “Huh? Wha? What is it?” He looked up to see a lavender Unicorn staring down at him, both concerned and angry at the same time: Twilight Sparkle.
“Why are you sleeping on the floor?” she asked, though it sounded like she was telling him off. “Have you been up all night working? I told you Owlowicious does that. You need to get your sleep.”
“I know,” Spike replied, rubbing his eyes together as he drowsily stood up. “But I was working on a Hearts and Hooves Day letter.”
“Oh,” Twilight asked with a smirk. “And who is it for?”
“Uh… it’s for…that is…” Spike stammered with embarrassment.
Twilight giggled lightly, then she asked with another smirk. “That wouldn’t be for Rarity, would it?”
“Yeah,” he replied defeatedly, his scaly cheeks blushing deeply. He knew that Twilight was aware of his feelings for Rarity. She knew that he was in love with the beautiful Unicorn.
Twilight Sparkle giggled again. “Oh Spike. I know that you love Rarity. No need to keep that a secret from me.”
“I guess you’re right.” Spike replied reassured. But then he gave her a betrayed glare. “Of course, you didn’t keep it a secret.”
“Spike, I said I was sorry.” Twilight replied exasperatedly. But he was right to be upset since she couldn’t hold onto that special secret for long. But at least Rarity didn’t know about this. It was unlikely that she even knew about Spike’s crush on her.
“Anyway, I got to go now. See ya, Twilight.” Spike said as he grabbed his letter for Rarity, and was just about to walk out the door.
“Hold it right there, mister!” Twilight called out to him.
“Yeah, Twilight?” Oh no! Was he still in trouble?
However, much to his relief, he saw Twilight, with a loving smile on her face, grab another letter of her own with her Unicorn magic, and gave it to him.
“Happy and Hearts Hooves Day, Spike.” She replied.
Spike looked to see the sweet sentiment written in it.

that I love you. You are my dear friend,
and my Number 1 Assistant .
Happy Hearts and Hooves Day! Love, Twilight Sparkle.
He also noticed a small ruby taped to the letter.
Spike looked up back to Twilight. Tears streamed from his eyes, and he gave her a sweet smile, touched by her gift.
“Thank you.” He hugged Twilight’s leg.
“Oh Spike, you’re welcome.” She returned his hug, and nuzzled him close. She was happy to know that Spike loved his letter.
They released, and Spike dashed out the door. “See ya!”
Twilight Sparkle looked on as her dragon assistant closed the door behind him. She was still happy to see him pleased with her gift.

It was a beautiful spring day in Ponyville. But of course, everypony was too busy with what was going on.
Hearts and Hooves Day was here! Heart-shaped balloons floated from every lampost, market stand, and everywhere else for that matter. Heart-shaped decorations hung from all directions. Ponies were collecting flower bouquets, chocolates, and Hearts and Hooves Day letters to give to their very special someponies. It was such a romantic time of year.
Spike was definitely in the spirit of it. All he could think about was giving Rarity his letter to her. Will she love it? And better yet, will she finally love me? That’s all he could think about. He just couldn’t wait to walk right up to heavenly vision of a mare, and give her the best love letter ever.
“Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Sweetie Drops!” A voice called out.
Spike turned to see a mint Unicorn with a lyre cutie-mark galloping over to a beige Earth Pony with a blue-pink-streaked mane and a cutie-mark shaped as three wrapped candies.
“Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Lyra Heartstrings!” She called back. Lyra joined her friend at their favorite bench. She gave Sweetie Drops a Happy Hearts and Hooves Day letter. Then, Sweetie gave her gal pal a letter, too. They both read their cards, looked at each other, and, after flashing touched smiles, they hugged each other… actually huggling (a mix between hugging and snuggling).
Lyra Heartstrings and Sweetie Drops have always been best friends. They were salt and pepper; peanut butter and jelly. Two best friends spending Hearts and Hooves Day together. So sweet.
As Spike looked on to see the two pony friends huggling each other, he started to think back about his own friends, too. How they meant so much to him.
Spike could even recall the special bond he made with Twilight Sparkle when she raised and gave him a home to stay. He even remembered when they used to live in Canterlot. But when Twilight was assigned by her teacher, Princess Celestia, to make some friends, they moved to the quaint town of Ponyville. There they met them, the five ponies who would forever change their lives.
Besides Rarity and Twilight, there was Applejack, the hardworking Earth Pony who had a big family,—and definitely, a BIG family—grew an orchard of delicious apples, and was always honest.
Then, there was Fluttershy, the shy but gentle Pegasus who cared for all the animals near Ponyville. On their first meeting, she was timid around Twilight, but Spike remembered when he was introduced did that sweet pegasus suddenly gush at the sight of him, and asked questions about him, actually about dragons. Some were questions that he didn’t even know about. Spike did know one thing, Fluttershy was a very kind pony who cared deeply about her friends and the animals she attends to.
Also, there’s silly filly, Pinkie Pie. The pink Earth Pony was always bubbly, cheerful, and always wanted to put a smile on everypony’s face. To her it was all about parties, cupcakes, and making new friends. Even in the darkest hours or when things got hairy and scary, she would always face danger and laugh in the face of it. Laughter was her specialty after all.
And then, of course, there was Rainbow Dash, the fastest Pegasus in Equestria. She was perhaps the coolest, too… though she would probably be considered 20% cooler. She also has her trademark move: the Sonic Rainboom. It would rock the skies in its colorful brilliance. Not to mention that it was Rainbow Dash’s move that not only earned her cutie-mark, but even the rest of their friends got theirs at the same time. It was as of though they were destined to be friends forever.
Such great friends. There was just one thing he couldn’t get over. It was the fact that they were GIRLS. To a baby boy dragon, it could get mushy and gushy at times. He just couldn’t stand it. Rarity was the only exception, especially for this holiday. He was in love with her, and, maybe after today, they could become more than friends.
Something suddenly clicked in the little dragon’s head. He forgot to get cards for the rest of the gang!
“Oh no!” Spike groaned to himself. He face-palmed himself. “I can’t believe I forgot to get cards for the others.” He sighed defeatedly. “Might as well make a few stops along the way. At least Rarity will still get hers.” Spike looked back on the letter he wrote, and hugged it close. He was still hoping against hope that maybe SHE will reciprocate his feelings with a hug, too.
Spike scampered down the town. He made a quick stop at the Hearts and Hooves Day stand, where cards, chocolates, balloons, bouquets of flowers, and any gift for the holiday were being sold. He just purchased five other cards, and dashed back again.
Spike made his way over to the first place he had in mind: Sweet Apple Acres, the home of Applejack.
He was just about to reach the apple orchards when he saw three fillies galloping past him. On their backs was a rather HUGE Hearts and Hooves Day card. Spike recognized them as Apple Bloom (Applejack’s little sister), Sweetie Belle (Rarity’s sister), and Scootaloo (who always wanted to be Rainbow Dash’s sister). Together they were the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
“Come on, Cutie Mark Crusaders,” Applebloom said to her friends. “We gotta get this to school!”
“Right,” Scootaloo replied. “Do ya think Miss Cheerilee will really like it!”
“She won’t like it,” Applebloom answered. “She’ll love it! It’s perfect! And it has to be.”
“Still think we’re gonna need a bigger envelope.”
Spike looked on to see them still galloping with their larger-than-life card riding astride them.
‘Now that’s a BIIIIG card,’ he thought to himself. Shaking his head again, he proceeded on to Sweet Apple Acres.

Chapter 3 = Friendshipping and Delivery

Applejack was collecting apples as usual when Spike arrived at Sweet Apple Acres. She just bucked her hind legs against a tree, bring down a batch of those juicy fruits into a basket.
“Hey, Applejack!” he called out to her.
“Howdy, Spike! Happy Hearts n’ Hooves Day!” she put down the basket. “What brings ya here?”
“I wanted to give you something.” He handed to Applejack his card for her. It was covered in apple stickers, with a couple of hearts.
She read the sentiment:
You’re the apple of my eye.
– Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Spike.
“Well golly, Spike.” Applejack smiled warmly. “That’s mighty thoughtful of you.”
“Thanks.” replied Spike, smiling back. “You’re such a great friend, and I meant all that honestly.” He winked at her, letting her know that she inspired him to say that.
“Why thank you,” Applejack hugged him. “Yer also a good friend, and that’s the truth, too.”
“See you later!” Spike waved goodbye to Applejack as he made his way out of the orchard.
He then reached the one place closest to Sweet Apple Acres: Fluttershy’s cottage. He saw the little Pegasus with to two bunnies nuzzling each other on the nose.
“Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Fluttershy!” Spike called out to Fluttershy. She, however, jumped in surprise. She didn’t like being startled.
Fluttershy turned to see who called to her. “Oh, hello, Spike,” she replied in her gentle, whispery voice. “Happy Hearts and Hooves Day to you, too.”
She then turned back to the bunnies, who now started snuggling against each other.
“Isn’t love so sweet?” she sighed heartwarmingly. “Even the animals are celebrating it.”
“Yeah.” Although Spike nodded in agreement with Fluttershy, he was actually getting envious at the love the animals were having for each other. He would like to have Rarity huggling him.
“Anyway, I got you something.” he handed to Fluttershy his card to her. It, too had stickers, but they were butterflies and bunnies. Its sentiment was just as charming:
Nopony is sweeter than you.
—Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Spike.
Fluttershy smiled, touched by this kind gesture. “Oh, thank you, Spike. You’re so sweet.”
Spike blushed at the complement. “You’re welcome. You’re sweet, too. I’m lucky to have such a kind friend like you.”
“And I’m thankful that we’re friends, too.” She hugged him gently. Spike could feel the warmth from her, as well as from her heart. She was perhaps the kindest friend ever.
He felt a tug at his tail. Angel, Fluttershy’s white rabbit, was thumping his left foot impatiently.
“Alright, alright,” Spike responded by yanking his tail back. He moved on. “See you later, Fluttershy!”
“Ok. Good-bye, Spike!” Fluttershy waved to him.
Spike returned back to Ponyville. His next destination was Sugarcube Corner. He was just about to reach the shop when he noticed the Golden Oaks Library.
“Might as well drop off Twilight’s card.” he said to himself. He quickly dashed over to the library.
By the time reached for the door, he was unsure of whether to give Twilight her card to her personally or just leave it. He was too embarrassed to even consider the former. She gave him a card, and he forgot to give her one.
He opened the door a slight to see if she was home. So far, nopony. He opened it a little more—
“Hey, whatchya doing!” a bubbly voiced chimed in.
Spike jumped in shock, and flopped straight to the ground.
He looked up to see silly Pinkie Pie grinning from ear to ear.
Spike got back up on his feet. “Sheesh, Pinkie. You scared me. Anyway, I was just—”
“You’re trying to see if Twilight’s home so you can give her a Hearts and Hooves Day card for her, but you forgot and got it at the last minute, and you want to be sure she’s not home so you don’t get embarrassed. And you also got us cards at the last minute, too, and you were about to give me one.” She answered at break neck speed.
Spike just stood there jaw-dropped. “How did you know that?”
Pinkie bounced around him. “Cause I saw you coming with all those cards a couple seconds ago.”
The dragon rolled his eyes. ‘That’s Pinkie Pie for you,’ he thought to himself.
And since she was here. “In that case, here’s your card.” Spike grabbed out an especially hot pink envelope.
“Aww, how did you know pink was my favorite color?!” Pinkie snatched the card out of his claws. She then torn off the top, and whipped out the card. It had balloon and cupcake stickers.
You bring me smiles when I’m with you.
– Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Spike.
Pinkie smiled widely again, and then, much to Spike’s surprise, she gave him a big hug. “Thank you! You’re the sweetest dragon ever!”
“No problem. Can you let me go, please?” Pinkie was hugging Spike so tight she was cutting off circulation.
“Okey-dokey-lokey!” Pinkie broke away. “Happy Hearts and Hooves Day to you, too!” She bounded off, still hopping.
Spike was still catching his breath. When he finished, he went back into the library, and noticed Twilight was nowhere in sight.
‘I’ll just set this down here,’ he thought to himself as he placed Twilight’s card down on her desk.
“Spike?” he heard her voice. Spike dashed out the door, and closed it on the way out.
Twilight Sparkle came down the stairs to see if he was there. But she saw nopony. Then, she noticed the red envelope on the desk. She cantered over to it, and saw her name written on the envelope. She recognized the penmanship.
“Oh, Spike,” she giggled to herself. Better late than never.
Next stop, Cloudsdale. Spike reached the hot-air balloon that would escort him them.
Just then, a rainbow streak zoomed straight towards him. Only one pony could make that.
“Hey, Rainbow Dash!” Spike called out. But he was also waving at her wildly, signaling her to slow down.
The high-flying Pegasus stopped right in her tracks. “Hey, Spike! What’s up?” she asked.
“Cloudsdale?” he replied dumbfounded.
Rainbow Dash burst laughing, thinking that reply was a joke. “That was a good one!” she said, trying to catch her breath.
“Really?” He asked, though he was still confused. “Anyway, just wanted to give you something for being a good friend.” He handed her his card to her. It had rainbows and lightning bolt stickers on it.
Even today, you’re awesome!
– Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Spike.
“Hey, thanks. This is great! You’re awesome, too.” Rainbow smiled. She gave him a light punch on the shoulder. Although Spike didn’t find it that light.
“Thanks, Dash!” He rubbed at his shoulder where Rainbow punched him. The two hugged. Rainbow then noticed the last card.
“That isn’t for Rarity, is it?” She asked with a smirk.
“Yep!” Spike replied with pride.
Rainbow Dash chuckled a little bit. “O-kay, Happy Hearts and Hooves Day! Good luck, Romeo!”
She then zoomed up back into the clouds, leaving Spike to himself. Now the only pony left was Rarity herself.

Spike ran as fast as he could to the Carousel Boutique, hoping that his Rarity would be there waiting for him. He had been so distracted with his friends that he almost forgot about her. It was already noon when he was making his way over.
Finally, he made it! There it was. The Carousel Boutique. As overwhelmingly beautiful as the pony who lived there.
“Finally.” He sighed with a relief. But when he reached for the door, much to his surprise and disappointment, it was locked.
Spike looked up to see a note on the door:
Nopony here! Gone out attending other matters.
“Nopony home?!” Spike face-palmed himself, and then sighed in defeat. He looked back at the only card he had left—Rarity’s letter. He couldn’t believe that he arrived too late. Where could she have gone off to. “Great.”
He waited for what felt like hours when it was really fifteen minutes. He just sat there, waiting, waiting, and waiting. It seemed like he was going to wait another fifteen minutes or even hours until…
“Spike, darling,” a sweet yet very familiar voice said.
The little dragon’s despair melted away into hope and love. He looked up, and there she stood before him, carrying bags of red and pink fabric, thread, and other items for her shop.
“Rarity!” He jumped to his feet with elation. She returned. Spike opened up his arms, waiting for a hug from his very special somepony.
“I’m terribly sorry, but could you please move aside. I’ve been so busy of late, and I really must get this done.”
Spike’s eyes flashed wide open. Not what he was expecting, but…
“Oh yeah,” he replied, blushing, though it was more with embarrassment. He stepped aside, granting Rarity access to her boutique.
He followed her inside. Finally, this was it. The moment he had been waiting for. Sweat began trickling down his lavender scales.
Rarity, however, took no notice. She was laying out her fabrics.
“So,” she asked as she laid grabbed one of the new spools of thread she purchased. “What brings you here?”
Spike began to blush again. “I… uh… I,” he stammered. He was used to talking to Rarity normally, but for some reason, he was too nervous to even get word out. “Uh… Happy Hearts and Hoops Day! No, wait! I mean, Farts and Hooves Da–, no! Hearts and Hooves Day! Yes!”
Rarity turned her head towards Spike when he was just about to give her her letter. He expected to see a wide smile on her lovely face, and an ‘aww, thank you, Spike! You are the sweetest!’ But instead he just saw a painful grimace, like he hurt her feelings.
“Oh, Spike, why did you just say that!” moaned Rarity irritably.
“What are you talking about?” he asked, confused but worried.
“Today’s supposed to the most romantic holiday of the year, and I can’t find a very special somepony to celebrate it with!” Her eyes began to fill with tears.
“Really?” asked Spike joyfully. His eyes lit up with hope. Then he remembered he asked that out loud and in the wrong tone. “I mean, oh really?” he asked again sympathetically. “Sorry about that. Why wouldn’t anypony want to be with you. You’re so beautiful, and sincere, and generous. You’re the best pony ever!”
Rarity heard everything. Her frown creased into a smile. She was touched by those kind, genuine words about her. Rarity trotted up to Spike, and hugged him close. “Oh, thank you, darling. That is so sweet. You are such a dear friend to me.”
Spike blushed deeply. Just then, his eyes widened again, but with shock. He was hoping that complement he gave Rarity would make her swoon. Instead, she called him her friend.
“Friend, really?” Spike asked. He tried not to sound worried, but there was a slight hint of it.
“Why of course,” Rarity replied. “You are a true friend, and you always treat me right. Why can’t all colts be like you.”
That last sentence almost got Spike’s hopes up. He reached out for his letter to her. “I got you this…”
“Oh my,” gasped Rarity. She let go from her embrace. “I got to finish this new dress I’m making for the occasion. I’m sorry, Spike, darling, but I’ll have to talk with you later. I need to finish this before the day is out.”
Spike was shocked again. “But–but what about that special somepony you’re searching for. Cause I was wondering if…”
“Oh don’t worry about it,” Rarity responded re-assuredly. “I’ll find him. Happy Hearts and Hooves Day!” She went back to grab her fabric and spools, and ascended upstairs to her workplace.
The little dragon felt his whole world come crashing down. It was like Rarity took his heart and stomped it into the dirt. He looked back at his letter to her. He was about to follow her upstairs, but stopped when he reached the first step. ‘Never mind, I guess’.
Heartbroken, he made his exit out the door, too disappointed to stay any longer. A big disappointment indeed.

Chapter 4 = Love Maker the Satyr
This afternoon was a disaster. Spike, who was hoping so badly for Rarity to finally fall for him, was now heartbroken. Why are we still friends? I thought she would love me. It was all he could think about.
He may not be a pony. He may not be a cute colt or a handsome stallion. He may be a dragon, and he may be a baby drag—actually, that would make sense.
Spike was still a baby dragon, and it seems that’s all Rarity sees in him: as a child. Too young to be in a relationship with. But Spike could find a way to change that. He just had to. Hearts and Hooves Day wasn’t over just yet. He still had time, he just needed to find a way to impress Rarity. But how? That was the question.
Spike’s thoughts were interrupted by what sounded like thunder. He turned towards the direction of the sound, and saw a crowd of ponies, young and old, stampeding towards him! He desperately tried to get out of their way.
He shielded himself from the crowd, but they just raced past him. Spike got up on his feet when he realized this. He could make out some talking amidst the ponies.
“It’s him! He’s here!”
“I’ve heard of him. He says he can help me find my very special somepony!”
“Yeah, he’s like some sort of love expert.”
“He can help me for Hearts and Hooves Day!”
Spike heard just about enough he wanted to. “A love expert?” He asked to himself. Newfound hope and joy was starting to grow in his heart.
Something suddenly caught Spike’s eyes. A piece of paper that fell from one of the racing ponies. He grabbed it, and read what it said:

Come to me! Love Maker: Best matchmaker, love counselor extraordinaire, and totally awesome musician!
Meet me by the local apple farm
So be there, and bring your broken heart to this awesome guy: ME!
It sounded like it was a sort of love seminar, and this Love Maker was popular.
“Maybe he can help me?” Spike couldn’t believe this. With a love expert in town, he could finally win Rarity over at long last! “Yes! Hey, wait for me!” And with that, he chased after the crowd to meet this love expert.
* * * * *
On the outskirts of town, everypony gathered around in a glade by Sweet Apple Acres' orchard, where they would supposedly meet this “love expert.” All were waiting in anticipation to meet him. Some, who didn’t have a very special somepony, were all hoping that he would provide the answers to their prayers.
Spike was among those ponies. He looked around, searching for the love guru. “So, where is he?” he asked.
Before anypony could answer music was heard, along with a loud rumbling, through through the trees. They all turned to the right, and they saw a large caravan, being drawn by two burly ponies, heading straight towards them. The crowd quickly galloped away in fear. But the caravan came to a screeching halt in the center of the clearing.
The ponies stopped running, and turned to see the massive caravan. As Spike managed to squeeze his way pass the crowd, he could see the huge text,Love Maker , inscribed on the side of the trailer.
Suddenly, the caravan’s side lifted open like a great door. Mist poured out, stage lights flashed on, and a built-in stage flew out from the trailer. The same music that was playing from the trailer blared loudly. It was like a mix between rock and pop music.
The crowd watched in curiosity and anticipation as a figure appeared from out of the mist. Spike couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Was this him?
A spotlight from the trailer shown on the figure, revealing his true form. He was a tall satyr: a goat creature with arms and hands. He had wavy hair and a well-groomed beard. He wore indigo sunglasses, a crimson vest, a gold chain that said “Love Hearts,” although there was a scratch where the “A” was, and charcoal fingerless gloves.
He turned to his peers, flashing his dazzling smile to them. “HIEY!!!” He cried out. “Ladies and gents, please put your hooves together for the coolest, smoothest, most drop-dead-gorgeous satyr in all of Equestria,LOVE MAKAAAA! YEAHYA!” he sang when he said his name.
The ponies cheered wildly, adulation heard from all directions, and their hooves stomping madly into the ground.
“He’s so dreamy!” three mares sighed. He was indeed very handsome, for a satyr.
As if harkening to their beckoning calls, Love Maker leaned over to them, and put his finger to their chins as the ponies blushed in different shades.
“That’s where you’re wrong, ladies,” he replied braggingly. Then, his voice became sensual. “I am a dream come true.”
The mares fainted. Then, Love Maker launched himself back on his hooves, and turned to the crowd. “And I’m here to make all your dreams come true!” The ponies cheered some more, while Spike watched on. Was he serious?
Lover Maker motioned for everypony to settle down. Then, he whipped out what looked like a cane. At the very end of it was a microphone. He put his lips to it. “As you all know today is the most romantic holiday of the year, the one, the only, Hearts and… HOOVES DAY! Say YAY!”
“YAY!” the ponies shouted loudly. Spike, however, was not entirely convinced. “Yay!” he cheered softly, still unsure about all this.
Lover Maker continued. “And I’m sure you’re all probably asking yourselves, ‘Will I find ever my very special someone?’ Or in your case, some-pony. Or maybe, ‘I already have one, but how do I win him over?’ Or for all you guys out there, HER.” A glimmer of hope started to grow in Spike’s heart.
“Well, worry not, my little horsies, ‘cause I’m hear to tell you the good news: Love Maker is here to spread the love!”
The ponies roared into a thunderous applause. Spike had to cover his earholes just to tone down the volume. But he was definitely starting to see some promise from this satyr.
“Did you know that Hearts and Hooves Day is my favorite holiday of the year? Well, that ii-iiis true! There’s nothin’ better in Equestria than love and friendship, and today, it’s all about that!So let’s start up the oven to cook us up some lovin’, yeah! ” Love Maker sang again. His voice reverberated through the mic. Spike was definitely excited about all this. He listened closely.
“Lesson Número Uno,” Love Maker began. As he lectured he swaggered across the stage to give out a little ‘visual aide’. “Finding your very special somepony ain’t gonna be easy. To find your him or her, you need to do what we all do when we need to find something, we SEARCH for that something—or somepony. It’s a pretty big waste of time to just sit around on your rumps, and wait for your love to just show up. This ain’t no fairy tale, ladies! Just get out there, andfollow your heart !” He sang sweetly.
“I already know who my very special somepony is.” Spike replied quietly to himself. What he really wanted to know was how to win her over.
“Step number two,” Lover Maker continued. “While searching for the love of your life, look like a dream, be confident, and meet ponies. If there’s one you already have in mind, then take notes, you’re gonna learn from the master of all masters… of l’amour.” He whispered sensually.
“Finally!” said Spike with relief. He looked feverishly around for a piece of paper, anything to take notes. He looked back at the seminar pamphlet he found earlier. Now he just needed a quill to write.
He tapped a pony on the shoulder. “Psst, excuse me,” he whispered to him. “Do you have a quill that I can borrow?”
But the pony just shushed him. Spike groaned to himself, only to be shushed again by another pony from behind.
“If you already found the love of your life,” said Love Maker. “Then, ask him or her out on a date. Take ‘em to a movie, out to dinner, or anything. If he or she is the one for you, then game, set, match! Yeahya!”
Spike kept searching for something to write with by looking around flat on the ground. He searched frantically. All this new and helpful information was running away without him.
Just then, he saw a chicken pass by. He plucked out one of its feathers. Then, using his dragon flame breath, he blew on the tip of the feather, leaving it charred. He scribbled on the pamphlet to be sure if his new quill would be legible. Sure enough it was. He quickly wrote everything he could remember.
“Are you feelin’ the love today?” he asked the crowd. “Well, you can feel it some more tonight at Ponyville’s own discothèque! I’m throwing my very own Hearts and Hooves Day nightclub party! For those who already got or will have a very special somepony today, you can drop on by, and dance the night away!” Then he spoke softly and romantically. “Dance with the pony of your dreams, and feel the love tonight.”
The ponies discussed among themselves about this special offer.
“If you want more advice, drop on by and I’ll help you get your happily ever afters, provided you pay bit by bit. Until then, have a very happyHearts and Hooves Daaaay ! Yeahya!”
A plume of mist blasted onto the stage, swallowing everything up, even Love Maker. Once it cleared he disappeared. The crowd cheered at his exit. But more importantly, they were happy to know that their Hearts and Hooves Day was in good hooves.
Even Spike was feeling good about this. Though, he still wanted more love advice. He made his way to Love Maker’s trailer.
“Hey, Love Maker,” the little dragon was about to make a turn towards the rear of the caravan when…
“Spike?!” a familiar voice cried out. He turned to see none other than…
“Rarity?!” gasped Spike. “What are you doing here?”
She blushed. “Umm, nothing. I just wanted to see if I could ask for advice about finding my very special somepony.”
Spike sighed to himself. She was still searching for somepony other than him.
“What about you?” asked Rarity.
“Um, same thing.” He replied.
“Oh.” They both just stood there awkwardly, unable to continue talking.
Spike then remembered something important. “Hey, Rarity, I forgot to give you a letter I made for you.” He reached for his Hearts and Hooves Day letter he tucked in his pamphlet.
“Excuse me, sir,” a tough voice said. Spike turned to find himself face-to-face with a burly pony with a burgundy crew cut, a shaved muzzle, a beaver brown hide, avocado eyes, and a short tail. He wore a red vest similar to Love Maker’s.
“Uh, yes, sir,” asked Spike nervously. He was shaking in his scales.
“Love Maker wishes to see you.”
Love Maker wants to see Spike? But why? For whatever reason, it was at somewhat a bad time, but also at good time. He wanted to give his letter to Rarity, but he also wanted more advice on how to woo her.
“Uh, alright. I’ll be right be, Rarity, okay?” he said to her.
“Okay, absolutely, darling.” She replied awkwardly. She didn’t know what was going on exactly, though.
Little did anypony know, Love Maker was watching the whole thing from behind the curtains in his trailer. He overheard the conversation between Spike and Rarity, and he noticed how close they were… how very close they were. A grin etched its way on his face. Somehow, this was going to be fun.
