*RUMBLE* Yes the ground is shaking. The buffaloes are stampeding. How you may ask? Some how the ponies made a pathway through the trees in only a few hours and now the buffaloes are running again. Why they do it you may ask? I tried to ask Thunderwhooves but he just said tradition and that was it. Now I'm stuck in the sheriffs office waiting for my reward, which it's just me and the Sheriff so time for some small talk.

"So Wolf are ya sure you don't want to stay and help me with protecting the town? Five thousand bits is a lot but it'll go fast. Might be useful to have bits coming in monthly." Star says as he pours himself some sort of alcohol. If I where to guess some type of bourbon but I don't really mess with alcohol.

"That's not what I do star. I'm better out in the world helping people and dealing with the worst of society. Besides, you can handle the average drunk or fight." I idly tap my foot waiting for the guard with my reward to come. I don't want it but they wouldn't let me go with out it.

Star takes a drink of his bourbon and sighs. "Your right but in all honesty, your useful to us."

I smirk under my helmet knowing I now have him beat. "Then you'll agree that I'll be useful where ever I go so might as well be useful to more people."

He takes another sip of his drink and then chuckles. "Damn son, using logic against me. How did you know it was my weakness?"

I lightly laugh with him. "Logic is every ones weakness. Some one will always point something out that goes against what we said." When we both stop laughing the door opens and in walks a white Pegasus wearing all gold armor and struggling with a bag of something.

"Sheriff *PANT* Star royal guard *HUFF* Iron Wings with the reward *PANT*" He huffs out. Now that I can get a look at him I can see he is sweating a lot and struggling with the bag.

"Breath and put the bag on the desk." Star says while we pours a glass of water for the guy.

Iron Wings throws the bag on the desk and gulps down the water. *Sigh* "Sorry had to fly directly here with no breaks. We're due for a drill and I can't miss it."

"Well sonny thank you than for getting here quick. The precipitant is more antsy than an ant." Star jokes at my extent.

Iron looks at me than says. "So your Ranger Wolf of The New California Republic?"

I nod my head at him. "Yes sir that's me." His eyes light up like the sun.

"Awesome. I wish the guards armor was more cool like yours." Iron wines and pulls out some paper. "Just sign down below and the rewards all yours." I sign the papers and he heads for the door. "I wish to stay and talk but I have to hurry." He starts to fly away. "Look me up if your ever in Canterlot!" He loudly says as he flew away.

I open the bag to see the bits. They are gold coins with numbers on them, so pretty much like the NCR dollar but in coin form. I blankly stare after what I just thought. Why did I compare it to that and not actual U.S money? My deep thought is broken when I hear a chair slide.

"Well I have to get back to work suppose this is good bye for now." Star says as he reaches a hoof over for a shake.

I shake his hoof. "I'll stroll threw here again don't worry." I stand up and head outside with him. When we both get outside we part ways while waving. Looking at the main street, Fizz's Inn is across the street next to a trader, some houses, Needles place, a bakery and more stores. I head to the traders shop and walk in.

As I enter some one says. "I'll be with you in a minute, just cleaning up the stuff that fell off the shelves when the running started." The voice was that of a males. Looking around I see what I was looking for a sleeping bag. I grab it and walk to the counter. A grey earth pony with white hair and tail walks to the counter talks, "Welcome to Trader Goods. You can call me Goods and what can I." He trails off before continuing. "Wait your that Wolf guy right?" I nod my head. "Well than you get a discount and don't try to talk your way out of it like I hear ponies say."

I sigh. "Just a sleeping bag for on the move and if you have anything that can last awhile It'd be much appreciated." He turns around and grabs some jerky thing and what I can only assume is some hardtack. He puts them on the counter in front of me.

"All we have is vegetable jerky and these darn bread cracker things that last awhile but are just plain awful."

"How long would this last me?" I asked him.

"Well if a pony rations it a month but you aren't a pony so maybe half a month. Sorry wish I had more but we grow most of our food here and don't get big companies setting up shop since this town is fairly new." Goods replied. I open up the pouch with the bits in it to pay but he stops me. "Wait. Before we conclude this transaction I think I have some dried fruit." He hurry's off to the back where I can here items being moved and him mumbling. about two minutes later he comes back with a few bags of dried fruit. "Well Here we go so we got Three bags of jerky and dried mixed fruit and two cases of No Teeth Crackers. Plus that sleeping bag. That'll be fifty bits."

I put a hundred bits down. "Here and keep the change. I like to help any way I can."

He smiles up at me. "Thanks but you need something to hold it all in. Here take this." He brings up a medium size square backpack thing with straps. "Was a saddle bag but the other side fell off but with the way it is now, it'll be a perfect fit you can carry on your back." He loads the items I bought into the bag.

Once he is done loading the bag I take it and are about to step out when I realized I needed something else. "One last thing do you have a map I can look at." He ducks behind the counter while I walk back over to him.

"Here ya go." He says as he unfurls the map. Looking down at it, the nearest town is one called Ponyville up north. I look at my pip boy and see that it got marked on there to. Don't know how this thing does stuff like this but it is helpful.

"Thank you." I said as a walked back outside. One last thing I have to do before I go. I walk down the street to the Inn and as i walk ponies wave to me. I waved back. As I reached the Inn there was a lot of activity, ponies talking and chatting while Fizz runs around taking care of their needs. while she was busy I sneaked up the stairs to her room. I walked over to her night stand and put a thousand bits in it and lock it up with her key she had on top of it. I go to her desk and grab a piece of paper and a pencil and write a note. The note said,

This is some of my reward money and by the time you see and read this I'll be gone. Thank you for being my first friend in this world and till we meet again.

After I finished writing I walked down stairs to talk to her. When I got down stairs she was behind the counter. "Fizz you got a minute?"

"O, Wolf yeah sure. We'll talk in the kitchen." I follow her into the kitchen. "What do you want to talk about?" She asked.

I take off my helmet and kneel down to her level. "I'm about to head out and well have to say good bye to my favorite Inn keeper."

She gasps and hugs me. "Really? You cant stay?" She sniffles out as she nuzzles her head into my neck.

I hug her back and gently start petting her. One thing I learned about ponies is that they are very affectionate and love to be petted, which is fine since they're so soft. "Yeah I got to go. It's what rangers do we roam around helping."

She sniffles and breaks the hug. "So I won't see you again?" she sadly asks.

"Hey I'll be back don't worry." I reassured her.

"Wait here than I have something for you." She hurries off somewhere while I stand up and put my helmet back on. She comes back a second later holding a bottle. She hands me the bottle. "Here Sunny's Sunrise Sarsaparilla. I saw you drinking yours the other day and thought, he must not have many of them so why not give him the best brand we have. And well this one always sells out so yeah." I take it and motion for her to follow me outside. When he reached outside she got onto her back legs and hugged me. When we break away she says. "Since you are going stay safe please. After all you did for me I wish I could get you to stay.

"You don't owe me anything. And good bye fizz." I wave to her as I walk away down the street out of town. I passed by Needles place and saw him with braeburn so I wasn't going to say bye to him. Walking out of town towards Ponnyville I can only think what will happen now and get ready for the worst.
