"I'm going out to uh... to go to visit Celestia, she said she needed assistance with a few things! I'll be back tonight!" Princess Cadence lied through her teeth. She had gotten used to the idea, lying to her husband and sneaking out to see her true lover.
"Alright! I have off today, so I'll still be here. Have fun!" Shining called back to her from upstairs. Cadence smirked evilly and headed out of the door. 'What a sucker, he bought it again.' She stepped out into the humid streets of a summertime Canterlot, and spread her wings to take flight towards her lover's house.
Cadence had been doing this for months now, cheating on Shining. It wasn't that she didn't love her husband, it was just hard to. After the disaster at the wedding the princess had become jealous. Shining was faithful to be sure, but there was no telling what he had done with the Changeling Queen. What he had done to the Changeling Queen. Sure, she had been happy to be reunited with her fiance after being trapped in the mines, but ever since the wedding communication had been breaking down with Shining, and their once unbreakable love had been dwindling.
She could strengthen the bond of love for anypony, anypony but herself that is.
She couldn't open up to Shining like before, not after he had cheated on her, whether he knew about it or not. An awkward feeling of distrust had wedged between them, and Cadence tried to keep to herself about it. She cared for her husband deeply, but no matter how hard she tried she couldn't open up to him. All of the pent up emotions Cadence tried to hide couldn't be ignored for long, maybe that was the reason she started to see other colts. She knew it wasn't fair to Shining and that whatever relationship they had would be ruined if he ever found out, but she had needs, needs that Shining, unfortunately, couldn't meet.
