1. Unexpected Arrival
*Brrrrrrrsssssssssshhhhhh*
The heavens wept, wetting the earth below. Howling of winds accompanied the onslaught of showers, perfectly matching the metropolis’ moniker of “City of Wind”.
Crouching near the ledge of a building was a black figure, overseeing the bay in the distance.
The figure wore a cap, mask, gloves, and dark clothing, making it hard to deduce their true gender.
The only thing prominent about the figure was the orange scarf they wore, wildly fluttering each time the winds hit it.
The figure laid his left index finger on his ear, answering the call.
“Target spotted.” A brisk response, alerting the figure from where they cannot see.
“On my way.” A soft answer, the voice belonging to a male, and the black clothed man disappeared under a lightning’s flash and crackling thunder.
Sunlight emerge from the horizon, slowly lighting and warming the world along with its inhabitants. Birds sang across the thick forest, ready to live their everyday lives.
Sat upon the centre of an golden-ivory, majestic city was a castle, home to the co-rulers of Equestria, Celestia Solaire and Luna Eclipse.
The two rulers were sitting on their respective thrones, made from marbles and coloured with their respective coats’ colours, decorated with symbols of their elements.
The sun and the moon.
The Alicorn princesses were wearing their usual Greek-like togas, wrapped and clipped by expensive golden and silver decorative ropes around their waists, along with medallions bearing their elements over their chests.
The two Alicorns were currently listening to the reports from their guards, concerning of the peace treaty, and their ponies’ news and problems.
Giving the command to sort things out by Celestia, the guards politely bowed and left the throne room.
Silence was the only thing that stood within the grandeur room, both of them were in deep thoughts.
Luna turns her head to face her sister, and before she could let out a single word, the two heard odd sounds, akin to glass being dragged across stone.
What slightly unnerved them were where the sounds were coming from.
The sounds were coming directly in their throne room.
Turning to the ceiling, their eyes widened in shock of what they were seeing.
Shards manifested out of thin air, forming into a shape. When the last shard was in place, now float in mid-air was a large object, making no signs of movement either than floating.
Suddenly, jets of light shone through its central mass, momentarily blinding the two princesses. After a few seconds, the light finally died down, letting the princesses to see the object once more, only to be further surprised by it.
The object was now a mirror, or what it appears to be from its reflective properties. It was a bit of disorienting for them, for the mirror’s reflective nature shows them and the part of the room in an amorphous shape.
Regaining their minds back, the two Alicorns stare with one another.
“Sister, do you think this is one of Discord’s pranks?” Luna suggested.
“I’m afraid not, Lulu. I don’t sense any of Discord’s chaotic magic. That “mirror” seems to be a new, and completely unknown phenomenon we had ever witness.” Celestia replied, unsure of whether to feel relief that this wasn’t Discord’s doing or anxious because this wasn’t Discord’s doing.
Just as Luna was about to offer another suggestion, she was interrupted by the sounds of cracking.
Directly from the mirror.
*CrrrkCrrrkCrrrrrrkCrrkCrk*
They once more witness the mirror forming cracks by unknown reason, the cracks almost completely engulfing, resulting shards of glass to fall.
As the cracks fully engulfed the mirror, it exploded without any sign of warning.
*BOOMCRRSSSSHHHH*
The two princesses reflexively erected a gigantic shield, protecting themselves from the rain of shards.
What they didn’t expect was the shards to be far more dangerous than they thought. Evidence being? The shards embed themselves to their shield and various places within the throne room.
Small clouds of dust rose, cracks appeared from where the shards had landed. The mirror’s explosion alerted the guards outside, but none were hurt since it all happened in a blink of an eye.
When the princess observe the aftermath and the guards coming inside the room, dutifully standing before them with their backs turned and armaments ready, all of them were not ready to see what happens next, thus shocking them.
Laying at the end of the throne room, right next to the opened gigantic oak door was an unknown creature, covered in its own blood.
The creature had a black baseball cap and bandana, concealing its face. Its orange scarf were torn, only left with a very short end. It wore a black trench coat with a hint of green sweater underneath, torn in various places. It also wore dark pants, fingerless gloves, and boots, all suffering the same fate with the coat and sweater.
Its shoulders were barely moving, barely breathing. It was close to dying.
Just as Celestia’s Captain of the Royal Guards, Gleaming Shield, move to inspect the creature, it twitched.
Its breathing gradually became deeper and normal, surprising all of the ponies in the throne room.
It groaned, shockingly a groan what ponies would made, giving them the idea that it was capable of speech.
“Ugh...” It slowly shook its head, surprisingly and impressively, began to stand up from its sitting position despite the numerous, severe injuries it sustained.
“Hey now, take it easy.” Gleaming Shield warned, somehow felt that whatever creature this was, it was not dangerous at all.
It wobbly make a step forward, making the guards tensed, prepared for any sudden movement the creature would make.
The creature took another step forward, this time it was unable to support its own weight, thus end up falling down.
Gleaming took a fast step forward, encircling the creature’s pony-like arm around her shoulders, supporting the creature. She noted the creature was small, probably a feet shorter than her.
The creature coughed and turned its head to Gleaming, gazing at her crystal blue eyes.
Gleaming was also gazing at its eyes, hidden beneath the baseball hat. Its hazy, beautiful honey brown eyes were staring back at her, grateful for what she had done.
“Thank... yo...” Before it can finishes its thanks, its body went slumped, passed out from the wounds, blood loss, and tiredness.
Turning to her soldiers, Gleaming barked, “We need to take it med-bay! It lost too much blood!” Her soldiers were broken out of their stupor, and a guard quickly left the others and stand next to the creature, slinging its other arm on his shoulders.
Without excusing themselves to the princesses, doubted that they would think such impoliteness either, the two guards left the room with the creature in tow.
