It was a cold spring morning and I had just woken up. My day usually isn’t eventful but tonight is going to be really special. You maybe wondering why but I’ll get to that in a bit.

I walk downstairs and see my younger brother playing video games. Typical, he is really hooked on this game called Fortnite.

“Really?” I ask

“Oh come on Ryan, the new update just came out and it is so awesome!”

“Ok then.” I understand his enthusiasm. I’m a hardcore battlefield 1 player and when a new update came out, I was already on top of it. “I’m just gonna go eat some breakfast and go drive to school. Tell mom I said hi, ok?”

“Ok. BOOM HEADSHOT FROM 192 METERS! Take that scrub.”

I smile, them walk by him into my kitchen to get some breakfast. My mom doesn’t go out much so we don’t usually have anything so i just buy breakfast at school, but luckily my dad went out earlier this week and got food for the family. Not like it matters because living with a family of four, food goes by fast.

I decided on a blueberry muffin since making french toast sticks would take too long, and i was already cutting it close on getting to school. I grab my backpack, take my meds and start to ealk out the foyer. As soon as I opened the door, it hit me.

“Shoot almost forgot my guitar.” I run back to my room and grab my Ibanez JS2480. God I love that guitar. I’m stupid good at the thing too that its not even funny.

Using my guitar is kind of my coping mechanism for things that bother me. If I'm depressed, i play. If I’m bored, i play. If i feel good about myself, i play. Basically i play whenever I jus feel emotion I play my guitar. My favorite song to listen to and play is Unstoppable Momentum by Joe Satriani. I love his work. He is my favorite guitar artist of all time. He is the one that made me discover that music is not all about the lyrics, its also about the instruments that play the song. Although I do listen to other things like AC/DC, Guns and Roses, all the good stuff.

After i grab my guitar, I run out the door and into my car. My car is the only thing that I love as much as my guitar. Its a 1972 Dodge Demon. I restored it with the help of my dad who is the stupidest car wiz I’ve ever met. The thing is fit with custom tires, rims, an upgraded engine, and tuned to drag race. It’s a miracle that it met the inspection sticker requirements.

The ride to school was like any other. Boring and uneventful. Sometimes you see the occasional backed up highway from a fender bender, but thats about it. Sometimes I wonder why I even invested the money in the car, but then I remember that it can clock 195mph on a drag strip.

I get to school and I say hi to my friends waiting for the home room bell to ring.

I’m not a very social person, but i have 2 very best friends. I was often bullied because of my social disabilities for being a complete nerd. But I have gotten used to it since it happens so frequently. Yup. I’ve gone numb to bullying.

My friends are as follows. They are all socially awkward, love Rock and Roll, and are great at Rock instruments.

My first friend is Mike. He is kind of the odd one out of the group to others because of his bad jokes, but we all accept him amd treat him as such because he is fun to be around. We also done mind his bad jokes because we all laugh because of how bad they are. He stopped making his bad jokes but I was kinda bummed about it. The best one that he came up with was that he found a picture of a pickel with nickelback’s face in it and shouted “LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH!!!!”

The instrument he plays are the drums. Mike is probably the best drummer I’ve ever seen. He is a rock fan like me, but he is into things like Red Hot Chili Peppers and slower rock.

My second friend is Liam. He is the one that is for some reason everyone is afraid of. It’s probably because he was once a bully. It was a phase but it was a BIG one. He doesn’t like to talk about it though. His parents got a huge divorce and his mother swore to leave and nover come back. It was the bitch’s fault for cheating on him with that male stripper. He went through depression and took it out of others. It was then when I introduced him to the bass where he expressed his emotions through music and Rock and Roll. His tasts are somewhat like mine because he loves things like Journey and Pink Floyd.

“Dude where you’ve been?” Mike asked me.

“Sorry, traffic was a nightmare. Apparently some idiot in a smart car decided to go 15 mph under the speed limit. I swear if i find that that guy, so help me.” Liam then interrupted me.

“You see that the problem with you. You get worked up with little things on the road like when a light takes too long or when someone doesn’t use their blinker.”

“Keep acting like this and you’ll end up like that kid ‘Arnie’ in the movie Cristine. It’s just a matter of time until your car tuns into a devil car.”

“Can it Liam, you’ll understand when you get a car but until then, you’ll be stuck using the bus to get here.” Liam scoffed at that remark but he knew that it was true. Mike then butt into the conversation.

“I hate to interupt but we have one minute until the home room bell rings so I suggest we get going.” We all agreed and went our seperate ways for the time being.

School was as boring as ever, you go through the same thing over and over again and repeat the next day. The only interesting thing that happened was that we watched a movie that was based off of a book we read, but that’s about it. What i was really exited about was that me and my friends had a gig tonight.

A while back in freshman year we created a band together after performing in the school talent show. We performed AC/DC’s thunderstruck and everyone loved us. Said we sound like a real rock band. We called ouselves the Rockin’ Racers. We weren’t proud of the name but we aren’t the creative types.

Tonight, me, Mike and Liam were going to play at a restaurant that housed live music as entertainment. I forgot what the name of the place was called. I think it was Sal’s pizza and pub. The only reason we remember the place was because the sign outside had a hilarious picture of a drunk dude hilding a pizza slice in his mouth and a one of those huge beer glasses.

The only problem with the place was that it was an hour drive away.

Now, I live in Massachusetts, and weather can be a problem such as snowstorms, rain, and for some strange reason rain in the middle of winter which is is not normal, but it happens. Now the biggest problems are the Nor’ easters. They’re like mini hurricanes so you can expect them to be a problem.

So my friends and I are driving down the interstate to Connecticut where the gig was, when we were hit with a Nor’ easter.

“This is a problem. A HUGE problem.” I said

“How so?” Mike asked. Then liam started to explain things to him

“Well winds are picking up and the roads are going to become dangerous. I suggest that we just head back before we crash. Besides, the restaurant is probably closed by now because of the weather.”

“Yea I guess you’re right, I don’t want to wreck the Demon.” I got off the interstate and started to look for a motel to stay in on my iPhone. It was a Friday so we didn’t have to stress about school the next day. I found a motel with a good deal and started to head for it. I decided to take a back road as a shortcut. Just then, the stupest thing happened and we still cant believe it.

The weather just...stoped.

“What...the hell just happened?” Liam asked dumbfounded.

“I’m not sure. This defies the laws of all nature. A storm like that can drag on for hours. Yet it lasted like 10 minuets.” Mike said. I was starting to panic a little because this was very supernatural. Just then a thick fog rolled in. And it was really thick. I could only see about 5 feet in front of the car.

“Damn this fog is thick. I can’t see a thing.” I said. “Liam use your phone to looke up where we are.”

“That might be a problem.”

“Why?”

“I’ve got no service.” Liam said in a very flat and worried voice.

“So we’re lost Ryan?” Mike asked.

“I guess so Mike.” I was still driving. Not knowing where the road will end up at.

“Are we just gonna keep driving?” Liam asked.

“What choice do we have?” I explained “the road is too narrow to turn around and if we back up we’ll crash.”

“Alrighty then.”

I was driving for what seemed like hours. Im not sure how much time passed though. Just then, something appeared out of the fog. It was, an intersection. As soon as the Demon dove up to it, it was met with lots of other cars coming and going, as well as the the fog clearing up.

“Finally, told ya we weren’t lost.” I said.

“Thats a lie.” Mike said

“Whatever I don’t even friggen care anymore.”

“Alright lets just drive around town and see if we can find that motel.” Liam suggested.

“Good idea.” I pulled the Demon out of the intersection and continued to drive. After about five minutes of driving, we came across what seemed to be a high school. Mike then broke the silence.

“Look a school. Maybe we can ask for directions.” I pulled up to the school and was immediately greeted with a statue of a horse on a podium and a sign of the school name on another statue with a horseshoe and the letter “c” on it. I then spoke the name of the school written on the statue.

“Hmmm... Canterlot High School. What kind of name is that?”
