Chapters The same time as Princess Skyla woke up, a strange pony was wiping the windows of her father’s bakery. Her name is Flurry Heart.
Flurry Heart is a dull pink pony with a purple and blue mane and blue eyes. Her legs has holes and has a horn which was shaped weirdly. She also had transparent bug wings for some reason too.
Her father, who is just a normal pony said he didn’t know why she was born this way because he found Flurry at their doorsteps.
Nevertheless, the father loved Flurry anyways and raised her as his own. Flurry was isolated at home because of her appearance but she was okay with it, she didn’t want to be seen by anypony else.
Flurry uses her magic to get a broom. She goes outside and started sweeping. She looked up, to the beautiful crystal palace to see a mare looking at her.
After a second, Flurry noticed it was the princess. She bowed to the princess and puts her hood on, not wanting the princess to observe her anymore and goes back into the bakery.
“Flurry, I need your help”, Flurry’s father said.
“Yes sir”, Flurry said as she followed her father to the kitchen.
“I’ve been assigned to make the King and Princess a cake”
“Really? This must be an honor for you sir”
“It is but I need your help”
“Of course sir, so what cake will it be?”
“Well . . .”, Flurry’s father said, showing the order from the King.
Flurry was shocked to read the order.
The King’s Order
Ten layers
Each layer has to be a different flavor
There must be whipped cream on each layer, but must be a different color for each

“Wow, isn’t the King really picky”, Flurry said.
“I’m going to the market to get materials, can you watch the bakery on your own?”, Flurry’s father said.
“S-sir, I don’t know if I can”, Flurry said.
“Don’t worry Flurry Heart, if you just keep your hood on, you’ll be fine”
Flurry’s father waved goodbye and walked away. Flurry took a deep breath and said, “Okay, I got this”
“Princess Skyla, you really shouldn’t be doing this”, Lapis said, sounding worried.
“Calm down Lapis, I’ll be fine, no pony will even notice I’ll be gone”, Skyla said as she puts on a hat and shades.
“But what if they do notice? What if I get in trouble for this? Am I going to get executed?!”
“Lapis, please. I really need this. If I’m going to become queen, I need to see my kingdom. I’ve never been outside my kingdom for a while, but now is the time”, Skyla said while she puts on a jacket it cover her wings.
Lapis sighed, then said, “Fine, I’m doing this for you”.
Skyla squealed and said, “Thank you!”. Skyla hugged her most trusted friend and then she went off.
Skyla carefully passed the guards to the exit of the palace. She took a deep breath and then breathed out when she opened the doors. Luckily, there were no guards guarding the entrances. She then ran off, excited to see what her kingdom has in store for her.
As she walked by the building, she smelled something divine. She followed the scent and it led her to a bakery. She walked into the bakery and saw a pony with a hood on behind the counter.
“Hello there”, Skyla said.
“H-hello there m-ma’am”, the hooded figure said.
Skyla looked at the delicious treats to her right.
“W-what will you be having today?”
Skyla’s eyes widen as she sees a cupcake with rainbow frosting.
“I would like a dozen of those cupcakes please”, Skyla said as she pointed to the rainbow cupcakes.
The hooded figure nodded and got a box and put the rainbow cupcakes in there. The pony then gave Skyla the box and said, “That would be 28 bits please”.
Skyla nodded and gave the hooded pony 28 bits. She need went to a table and sat down, opening the box. She smelled the delicious scent of the newly baked cupcakes and took a bit out of one.
The cupcake was so delicious, she squealed and jumped. But when she did, her hat and glasses were off her.
The pony with the hood gasped, then bowed to Skyla. Skyla then gasped to herself, when she noticed her hat and shades weren’t on her.
“P-princess Skyla?”, the hooded figure said, still bowing to the princess
“N-no, you seriously don’t have to do that, you can get up”, Skyla said, as she puts on her hat and shades back on.
The hooded figure got up, but as she did, her hood fell off. And it was revealed to be Flurry Heart.
Skyla gasped once more, looking at this creature, which was not really a pony.
Flurry was frightened, her secret has been blown, she ran into the kitchen and hid.
“Wait!”, Skyla said, as she walked to the kitchen.
“P-please don’t hurt me. I know I might look scary but I’m the one that’s actually scared”, Flurry said backing up to the wall.
“Please calm down, I do not want to hurt you”, Skyla said, going closer to Flurry.
“My name is Skyla but, I guess you already knew that”
Flurry quietly chuckled and then said, “My name is Flurry Heart”
A Lovely Friendship Begins
In the bakery, Skyla and Flurry are sitting at a table, talking and laughing.
“I knew you looked familiar”, Skyla said.
“Yeah, it was kinda weird, you just staring at me from above”, Flurry said.
Skyla chuckled, then said, “Oh yes, I’m sorry. I was just curious. I feel like my curiosity will kill me one day”
The two laughed.
“Well I hope you don’t mind me asking this but, why do you look like that? Are you not a pony?”
Flurry lowered her ear and looked down.
“Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-“
“Oh, no no it’s okay Princess. It’s just, I don’t know myself”
Skyla raised a brow.
“My adopted father, who is in charge of this bakery, said him and his wife found me outside of the bakery. I guess my real parents left me because of how I look.”
“Oh. I didn’t know”
“I’m just happy some pony found me and raised me so I won’t be alone”
“I bet your father was happy to have you”
The girls smiled at each other.
“So moving on, why did you leave your precious castle?”, Flurry said.
Skyla rolled her eyes and said, “Well, I am going to become queen soon, and since I am, I wanted see my kingdom.”
“Oh I see, so are you ready to become queen?”, Flurry said.
Skyla looked down and said, “No. I mean I’ve been having lessons about how to be a ruler since I was six but, I’m just scared. I just feel like I won’t be a great leader.”
“Skyla, you shouldn’t be thinking that. Of course you’ll be a great leader.”
Skyla looked up to Flurry.
“Today, I learned that you are a fun, kind hearted mare. All you need to do to be a good leader is just be yourself”
“Thank you Flurry”
Skyla looked behind her to see the clock. She gasped and said, “It’s been three hours”.
Skyla puts on her shades and hat and said, “I must go back to the castle before my father notices I’m gone”
Flurry gave Skyla a fake smile and said, “Will you come back?”.
Skyla said, “I have a better idea, I’ll send someone to get you”.
The girls hugged. Skyla waves goodbye and goes home. After Skyla left, Flurry’s fake smile became a frown and put her hood on again.
It’s the next morning and Flurry and her father are in the kitchen. The bakery was closed due to them making the cake the king has ordered. They were already on their fifth layer, just halfway to go.
A knock was heard. “Stay here Flurry, and put your hood on”, Flurry’s father said.
Flurry nodded and did what she was told.
The baker went to the door and took a deep breath. He breathed out and opened the door.
It was revealed to be Lapis.
“I’m sorry, we’re closed ma’am”, the baker said.
“No no, I’m not a customer. I’ve been sent here to get somepony”, Lapis said.
“Sent by who?”
“The princess”
The baker raised a brow and said, “And who does she want?”
“Flurry Heart”
The baker was shocked. How does the princess know Flurry and why does she want her?
“C-come in”, the baker said and opened the door for Lapis.
Lapis walked in and the baker said, “Have a seat, I’ll be back”.
Lapis nodded and took a seat. The baker went back to the kitchen.
Flurry took off her hood and said, “Who is it sir?”
“Someone from the palace apparently, the princess wants you”
Flurry gasped and smiled.
Flurry’s father was confused. “Am I missing something”, he said.
“Oh! I might have forgotten to tell you that the princess came by yesterday while you were gone and I’m kinda friends with her”, Flurry said.
“You’re kidding”, Flurry’s father said.
“Sir, I’ll be fine. If the princess wants me, I should go”
“But-“, Flurry’s father said before he got interrupted.
Flurry used her puppy eyes on her father.
The baker sighed and the two walked to out of the kitchen, to Lapis.
Lapis was shocked to see Flurry.
“Uh hello, you must be Flurry, the princess told me a lot about you”, Lapis said, sounding nervous.
“So are we going?”, Flurry asked.
“Wait, before you two go, I have two questions”, the baker said.
“Daddd”, Flurry said.
“I’m listening”, Lapis said.
“So how long will Flurry be gone?”, the baker asked.
“Well . . . as long as the princess wants her”, Lapis said.
“Next question, does the king know about this?”
“Ohhh about that”, Lapis said.
Both Flurry and her father raised a brow.
“The king doesn’t know Flurry is coming”
“What?”, the baker said.
“I’m actually going to sneak Flurry in”
“What?”
“And then-“, Lapis said until she was interrupted by Flurry.
“Woah woah woah, Lapis, stop. Dad, I’ll be fine. I’ll be extra careful. Please.”, Flurry said.
Flurry’s father sighed and said, “Okay, just keep your hood on when there is strangers”
“I know Dad”, Flurry said as she rolled her eyes.
“So can we go now?”, Lapis said.
“Yeah, I’m ready”, Flurry said as she puts on her hood.
So the girls waved goodbye and left, going to the castle.
The girls snuck in without being noticed and went into Skyla’s room.
Lapis turned around and quickly close the door.
Flurry was amazed and looked around Skyla’s big room.
“Wow! Is this really her room?! It’s like twice as big than my father’s bakery!”, Flurry said.
Flurry flew around, amazed at the beautiful crystal pillars, the pretty shiny floors, and the beautiful furniture around her room.
Lapis laughed and said, “You know this is just her bedroom right?”
Flurry flew down to Lapis and said, “There’s more!”
“Of course, there’s her dressing room and bathroom of course”
Flurry dropped on the floor. “No more, please”, Flurry said, her face still planted on the floor.
Then the girls heard the door open.
Lapis and Flurry were luckily behind a pillar so the pony walked won’t see them.
“Are you girls here?”, the pony that walked in which turned out to be Skyla.
When Flurry and Lapis heard the princess’s voice, they walked to Skyla.
Skyla turned around to close the door, when she turned around she saw Lapis and Flurry, bowing in front of her.
“Thank you girls”, Skyla said.
Lapis and Flurry got up.
“And thank you for bringing Flurry here, Lapis”
Lapis smiled and said, “Well I have to go, call me if you need me girls”
Skyla and Flurry nodded and watched Lapis walk out and close the door.
Flurry then started to fly around the room again.
Skyla chuckled and said, “I guess you really like my room”
Flurry flew down to Skyla and said, “Are you kidding?! This room is really big?! Why aren’t you in shock every time you wake up?!”
Skyla laughed and rolled her eyes.
“Well there are some prices I have to pay, to live a life like this”, Skyla said.
“What do you mean? I bet the things you have to do are so easy.”, Flurry’s said.
“Not exactly”
“Your life is so easy though. I could just imagine your life right now. Just waking up on your comfy bed. Then after that, you just get all prettied up.”
When Flurry stopped talking, she looked back at Skyla. Skyla’s face was in shock.
“W-what? Was it something I said?”, Flurry said, worried that she might have offended her friend in some kind of way.
“No, it’s not that”, Skyla said, finally speaking.
“T-then what is it”, Flurry said.
Skyla pointed at Flurry and said “You look just like me”.
Flurry was confused, you went to a mirror and was shocked.
The pony in the mirror was a pink pegasus with a yellow and purple mane and blue eyes. Flurry looked exactly like Skyla!
“H-how is this possible”, Flurry asked.
“I think I may know”, Skyla said.
Flurry raised a brow.
“Well when I was young, I used to have a nanny that took care of me. Well during bedtime, she would always read me a story. One story in particular was about this creature which was half pony, half insect.”
“L-like me?”
Skyla nodded and said, “Now that I thought about it”
“Well anyways, these creatures can morph into anything they want, and I think those creatures are like you Flurry”
Flurry gasped, and suddenly, Flurry morphed back to herself.
“How do you do it anyways?”, Skyla asked.
“Well, by the time I turned into you, I was talking about you”, Flurry said.
“Hmmm. Maybe the way you morph is just thinking about the pony”, Skyla said.
“Let’s test that theory”, Flurry said.
Flurry closed her eyes. She opened her eyes after a few seconds. Flurry looked at the mirror and saw herself as Lapis.
“It worked!”, Flurry said.
“Is this the first time, you ever noticed you had this ability?”, Skyla asked.
“I guess so”, Flurry said.
“I guess you get to morph when the time comes”, Flurry said.
Skyla gasped.
“What is it?!”, Flurry said.
“I have an idea!”
“No no no no”, Flurry said.
“Pleasssee Flurry, just think about it”, Skyla said.
“I am not going to pretend to be you, it’s just insane. Besides, if I did agree, I just don’t know how to act like you. I’m just gonna get caught and be sent to the dungeon”, Flurry said.
“Flurry just think about it, you would living as a princess with extravagant things, like you said. Wouldn’t you want to live like me, just once in your life?”
Flurry thought about it a a moment.
“What if I accidentally morph back to myself, or anypony else?”
“Then just think about me, what I look like”
“But I don’t even know how to act like you”
Skyla put her hoof on Flurry’s chest and said, “I will teach you, afterwards, you will be princess perfect! We would both benefit from this, you will live a luxurious life for a while. While I explore the world, and get to have some freedom”
“You may be right but, what about my father? What will he think?”
“Before I leave the Crystal Empire, I’ll go by the bakery and tell him. By the princess’s command, he has to keep this a secret”
“Just promise me that nothing will happen to me or my father”, Flurry said.
“Of course, I promise. If you get caught, and hopefully you won’t, I’ll come back to the Crystal Empire as fast as I can”, Skyla said.
Flurry took a deep breath, and breathed out. “Okay, let’s s do this”, Flurry said.
So for the rest of the day, Skyla taught Flurry the do’s and don’ts of being a princess, her “royal schedule”, and the ponies in the castle. At the night, Skyla wear a disguise and sneaked off, taking Lapis with her. Flurry Heart, who now looks like Skyla, slept on “her” comfy bed, trying to go to sleep, but is worried what’s going to come tomorrow.
As the sun rises in the crystal kingdom, a young mare wakes up. She yawned, and got up from her bed, gracefully.
This mare is a beautiful pink pegasus with a yellow and purple mane and blue eyes. Her name is Skyla.
She opened the doors to her balcony and walked to it. She looked below, at her beautiful kingdom and blushed, when ponies noticed her up from above and bowed. She waved at her subjects, giggling a bit.
She looked to her right and saw a strange pony. Actually, it didn’t look like a pony, more like a bug. The creature was sweeping until it looked up, seeing Skyla was staring at it. The creature bowed to her, then puts its hood on, going inside a building.
Skyla was curious, she had never seen a creature like that before. Then heard a knock at the door.
She went back to her room and said, “Come in Lapis”. Lapis, a light blue crystal pony with a dark blue mane and yellow crystal eyes. walked into the room.
Lapis bowed to Skyla and said, “Good morning your highness”
Skyla gave a little smile and yawned once more, covering her mouth with her hoof as she did. Skyla went to her mirror, looking at herself while Lapis brushes her hair. Lapis then put Skyla put on her shoes for her, as well as Skyla’s necklace and tiara.
After Lapis was done, she said, “King Shining Armor is waiting for you in the dining room Princess Skyla”. Skyla nodded and walked out of her room as Lapis opened the door for her.
When Skyla arrived at the door of the dining room, the guards opened them to let Skyla come in. The dining room, like every room else in the crystal palace was beautiful and big.
Skyla walked to her chair, watching as the guard pulled her chair out. She sat and the guard pushed it back to the table.
Across from the long crystal table in front of her is King Shining Armor, a white stallion with a blue mane with bits of grey in it and blue eyes, he is also Skyla's father.
“Good morning father”, Skyla said, bowing her head to him.
“Morning dear daughter”, the King said, nodding his head to her.
They both started eating quietly. It was quiet for awhile until the King finally spoke up again.
“My dear Skyla”, said the King as he looked at her daughter.
Skyla looked up to the King and said, “Yes my King?”
“I have an announcement to give to you and you may not like it”
“What is father?”, Skyla said, looking kinda curious.
“My dear daughter, I am growing old and get tired everyday, and you know I can’t say king forever”
“This can’t be what I think you are trying to say father”, Skyla thought.
“I feel like it’s time for you to become queen”
The moment King Shining Armor said that, Skyla felt her heart skipping a beat. Skyla looked down.
Skyla doesn’t want to become queen. She thinks she is not ready, actually, she feels like she will never be ready.
“Father I-”, Skyla was about to say but she started thinking. Her father was growing old and weak. He was right, he can’t be king forever. And she loves her father so much that she is willing to do whatever he wants.
She looked up again as her father says, “I know you will be ready, and will be a great queen”.
Skyla looked at her father’s eye and said, “As you wish father”.
