Rainbow Dash was taking a bike ride through town as she had been doing it every few weeks now. She got up earlier that day to get a head start on the morning and she was now peddling through town for a bit to get some exercise in. The wind rushing past her felt amazing as it blew past her hair and caressed her body. The weather was nice out as well as it was just the right temperature for her.
Rainbow Dash decided to go check on Twilight at the local pool as she was probably doing some exercise with the swim team. Rainbow Dash took a shortcut and when she got there she went inside. She asked if Twilight was there and the woman at the front desk said yes.
When she got to the pool area she saw that Twilight was the only one in the pool as practice had just ended. Rainbow Dash watched her do the front crawl back and forth in one of the lanes.
Rainbow Dash observed her as she swam. Although Twilight's swimming has gotten better ever since Rainbow Dash had taught her to swim but she was still getting a bit frustrated while practicing as she was making some mistakes.
Twilight did a few more and then got out of the pool. She pulled her goggles off her head and grabbed her towel and proceeded to dry her face off. She put the towel back and approached her friend.
"I didn't expect you to drop by. Come to see me practice or do you need a favor?" Twilight asked. Rainbow Dash shrugged.
"I just came to see how you were doing. Do you want any help with anything? I saw that you were having trouble." Rainbow Dash asked. Twilight scoffed.
"No I'm fine. Yes I am having a few issues with my speed and the front crawl but I can fix the issue myself." Twilight said. Rainbow Dash looked her over.
"I'm sorry about that. If you need any help you can just ask me or your coach. Whichever will work for you." Rainbow Dash said. Twilight shook her head.
"Please! I have to get better. Right now I suck. I cost the team a race recently. I can't believe I was so stupid to let that happen. Twilight said as she looked away.
"Well that happens sometimes happens you know. Your not stupid, you just have some problems right now. I'm sure you can fix your issues by just practicing." Rainbow Dash said.
"How do you know? You have no idea what's going on right now. I cost the team a win. Don't you get that. I was third place." Twilight said with slight frustration.
"Twilight that's not that bad. I'm sure with a bit more practice you will be able to get first in future relays. Stop being so negative about yourself." Rainbow Dash said. Twilight almost laughed.
"Yeah sure Rainbow Dash. Keep trying to believe that. If I want to stay with the swim team I have to push myself to make sure I never make a mistake again or that will truly prove that I do suck at suck at swimming. I'm dumb." Twilight remarked.
"Twilight don't say that about yourself. You aren't dumb. Everybody messes up. I mess up at stuff. Making mistakes doesn't mean that you suck at swimming. Don't be to hard on yourself. You just made a mistake. I'm sure you'll be better at the next relay. Besides you probably did very well day." Rainbow Dash said.
Twilight didn't say anything as she dived back into the water and picked up where she left off. Rainbow Dash watched her swim for a while Twilight continued to have trouble. Twilight felt useless and pathetic as she tried to swim.
Twilight felt so embarrassed trying to swim. She could feel Rainbow Dash observe her and that made her feel even worse. She desperately tried to swim but just couldn't do it. She struggled as she gasped for air. She was dying from the embarrassment. She had her angle wrong as she was trying to do the front crawl. Her arms felt like they hurt a lot and she was struggling for breath as she wasn't turning her face to the side for a breath of air everytime she moved her arms
Rainbow Dash wanted to help her friend badly but knew that Twilight wouldn't let her. She watched Twilight swim back and forth getting frustrated each time. Twilight tried several times to improve but she failed every time.
Rainbow Dash watched Twilight struggle with several swimming styles. She could hear a frustrated sob come from Twilight as she stopped for a second. Twilight continued to practice by herself as Rainbow Dash looked at her with concern. Twilight felt helpless.
"Twilight do you want me to help you?" Rainbow Dash asked, Twilight stopped and silently wondered if she should accept her friend's help.
"No I don't want your help! I can do it myself!" Twilight shouted. Rainbow Dash winced. Twilight wiped her face off and continued to struggle. Rainbow Dash sat there for a minute as she watched Twilight get angry at herself for not doing a good job.
Twilight continued to get upset as she practiced. Once when Rainbow Dash heard that Twilight was sobbing she decided that she should help her friend. Rainbow Dash got her swimsuit and went back to the center and got dressed into it. She went to where Twilight was and slid into the water and waded over to where Twilight was.
"Twilight listen it's okay. Even I make mistakes sometimes. Stop beating yourself up over it. Look I'm going to help you okay." Rainbow Dash said. Twilight looked at her in surprise.
"I thought you weren't swimming today. Why are you getting in?" Twilight asked as she looked at Rainbow Dash through her tears.
"I wasn't at first but now I'm going to in order to help you. Now what is the exact problem that you have?" Rainbow Dash asked. Twilight sobbed for a bit more but stopped as she sniffled.
"It's the front crawl I suck at it. No matter how much I do it I can still never get better. I don't know what to do. I'm also having trouble kicking. Twilight said. Rainbow Dash smiled.
"It's alright Twilight you don't have to put yourself down over one swimming swimming style. I'll help you get better at it just like how I taught you how to swim a while back." Rainbow Dash said. Twilight couldn't believe her ears.
"I thought you were sick of teaching me. Why are you helping me again? You've taught me enough, are you sure you want to give me another lesson?" Twilight asked. Rainbow Dash smiled and pet Twilight's hair.
"I did not get sick of teaching you after I taught you how to swim. I loved teaching you and I can teach you again. I'm your friend and that's what friends do." Rainbow Dash said. Twilight hugged Rainbow Dash once she heard that. After a few seconds of hugging Rainbow Dash proceeded to help Twilight.
Rainbow Dash and Twilight spent a while at the pool as Rainbow Dash reminded Twilight what she had already learned. Rainbow Dash was extremely patient with her as she helped Twilight.
At first Twilight continued to have problems but after a while of Rainbow Dash demonstrations to her on what to do and having Twilight do it with a bit of practice Twilight was able to do the side stroke with no problem. After a bit Rainbow Dash decided to move on to the next issue.
"You said you had trouble kicking right?" Rainbow Dash asked her. Twilight nodded as she pleaded Rainbow Dash for help. Rainbow Dash helped her for a bit more and Twilight was finally able to do it again without trouble.
Twilight and Rainbow Dash got out and dried off. Twilight thanked her for helping her that day. They got dressed and then they both left and walked home together.
"Thanks for helping me once again Rainbow Dash. I'm going to make sure I remember your advice for the next time the team meets." Twilight said.
"No problem Twilight. If you ever need help again just come ask me okay? I don't mind helping you at all. I like helping all of my friends. Even if I finished giving you lessons a while back that doesn't mean I can still give you new ones from time to time." Rainbow Dash said. Twilight giggled and thanked Rainbow Dash and they both continued to walk home.
Soon Twilight and Rainbow Dash we're at Twilight's place as it was only a couple of steps in front of them so they both stopped. Twilight turned to Rainbow Dash and spoke up.
"Thanks for walking me home. I'm sorry for taking time out of your day by having you help me but I appreciate all of the help today." Twilight said.
"You don't have to be sorry. I'm glad you appreciated it. I'll see you tomorrow okay?" Rainbow Dash asked. Twilight said that that was okay and Rainbow Dash jogged away. Twilight got inside her place and closed her door and went off to relax for the rest of the day as she was so grateful for all the help Rainbow Dash gave her.
