Aftermath Of The Shattered Rainbow Rock
Trixie's Birthday
Previous ChapterAuthor's Note
Guys I am really sorry for not giving this an update. I really have no excuse for not updating it, I've been jumping left and right on stories, and I just... I just forgot. I've got this set on hiatus for the time being, until I can get my act together on more shorts.
But until then, I hope you enjoy this piece of fluff, and have a nice day.
Trixie's Birthday
Trixie and Adagio's lips felt each other's touch as they shared a kiss. Such a warm moment of passion and love, a moment they never wanted to end. Breaking from the kiss, Adagio stroked her girlfriend's cheek and smiled.
"See you tomorrow?"
"I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight Adagio."
Adagio smiled. "Goodnight Trixie."
Trixie walked out of the front door and closed it behind her. As the door closed, Adagio moved a little closer to peak through the peephole, seeing if she was gone.
"Is she gone yet?"
"Not yet," Adagio replied to the voice who called for her. She watched her depart to the elevator and grinned. All clear.
"Alright, lets get down to business."
Adagio stepped away from the door and stood in front of the dining room table. In front of her was her sisters, along with Octavia, Vinyl, Lyra, Bon Bon, and Amethyst. She gathered her friends for a secret plan. A secret plan that didn't need Trixie's attention whatsoever.
"Okay everyone. Trixie's birthday is in a few days, and we've got to get her the perfect gift. We need to pull out all the stops, all the best for our friend."
"We'll, we're throwing the party at Trixie's house, so that's first piece of the plan done," Lyra said.
"Yes, but what about gifts, gifts!?" Adagio emphasized. "We need to find good gifts! Any ideas?"
"Well, I've got one. There's this book I saw in a store with 101 tricks and illusions, I think Trixie would love to have that," Amethyst smiled.
"Good! That's one. Anyone else?"
"Well, I found a cool action figure from that new superhero movie," Vinyl said, showing the toy in the packaging.
"Excellent!"
"What about you Adagio? Don't you have anything?"
"That's the problem. I don't know what to get her!" Adagio faceplanted into the table. "I've tried hard to look around, I don't know what to buy that girl. She deserves the best, but I just don't know what to get her!"
Vinyl patted her shoulder. "I'm sure you'll find something."
"Yes, but what!? It has to be better than good, it has to be great! It has to be amazing! Not just anything, it has to be the thing!"
The girls looked around the room, trying to think. Until Octavia snapped her fingers.
"Adagio. If you want to get her the perfect gift, I think I may have just the right idea," Octavia grinned. "She's told me about this on and on since we were best friends, and I think you might be the right person to help deliver this."
"Well, then tell me, what do I have to do?" Adagio asked.
"I know exactly what you must do..."
Adagio followed Octavia's instructions to a T, and went straight to the Canterlot Mall. She passed by several stores, and went straight for the escalator. As she went up, she could see the store just up ahead, just where she needed to go. The siren gazed up at the sign above. Canterlot Animal Shelter, just the place. As she pushed the door open, she could hear the little bell on the top ding as she walked inside.
“Be there in a minute, miss!” A voice called.
As Adagio waited, she looked around on the walls. Pictures of cute animals and creatures being cuddled or presented as if brought home for adoption. Even the wallpaper and little framed pictures were displaying signs of cuteness.
Eventually the woman who called for her emerged from the backroom.
“Oh hello Miss, how may I help you today?”
Adagio smiled. “Good afternoon. I came here to adopt, believe it or not. Its my girlfriend’s birthday in a few days, and I know she’s wanted a pet for the longest time. I was looking for maybe something that she would absolutely love."
The woman smiled. "Well I'd be happy to help you. What kind of qualities does she look for in a pet?"
"I've asked, the best answer I've gotten is a pet that's sweet, affectionate, something that will listen to her, and something she can hold in her hands."
The clerk rubbed her chin. "I think I may have just the thing. Come with me."
Adagio followed the clerk into the door leading to where the animals were being taken care of. She looked up in a few cages, she could see a few birds chirping and cooing as they talked among each other. She looked back to the clerk who stood by near a gerbil pen.
"I'm sure we will find the best pet for your girlfriend," The clerk smiled. "How about a gerbil, or a hamster?"
Adagio looked down in the pen, seeing some of them scurry about in their little play area.
"Hmm, I'm not sure. Too small... perhaps something a bit bigger?"
The clerk gave it some thought, before snapping her fingers. "I think I may have it."
Adagio followed her to another room, there she could see several cats meowing and resting in cages. The clerk opened up one of the cages, picking up the cat that was wide-awake. She held her in her arms, and moved towards Adagio showing off the cat.
"Perhaps a cat could do the trick? They're bigger, and they can be held in her arms."
Adagio rubbed her chin, looking down at the cat. She smiled looking down at it, and pet its head, hearing a soft purr come from the feline. She's so soft!, she thought. But even for as cute as it was, it didn't seem like the right kind of pet.
"Mmm, I'm not sure... when I said, something that could be held, I actually meant something that she could easily hug, something that would give her that same amount of affection back, if that makes sense?"
The clerk carefully put the cat back in its cage before closing it. Then she led Adagio out of the room, and into another room where more pets were resting. Inside, she could see something that did in fact catch her eyes; dogs.
"Oh my goodness..." Adagio cooed. "They are so adorable."
The clerk giggled. "I thought you might say that. Now, you said your girlfriend wanted something that she could hug, well I think I know just what kind of dog she may like."
Adagio followed her to a single pen, inside she could see some puppies playing around. Some of them wrestled, some of them were going crazy with the chew toys, and others just sat and rested. As Adagio looked around, her eyes looked down and blinked. A smile was on her face, even bigger than before. It was right there. The perfect pet was in front of her!
"Ma'am... This one right here," Adagio pointed. "I have a feeling my girlfriend will very much like him."
The big day had arrived. Trixie's birthday was already here. All of her friends were gathered at her home, all sitting around the living room, in their pajamas. Some bits of wrapping paper were strewn about, but no one cared. They would get that cleaned up either way. But most of all, Trixie was having the best time.
For the first time, she was celebrating her birthday with her best friends, and she couldn't have been happier. Even her girlfriend was by her side as they were opening up gifts.
"Oh, this one's from me," Amethyst said, passing her gift.
Trixie accepted the gift and unwrapped the paper with her claw-like hands. She ripped up the wrapping paper like a wolverine, something that all of the girls could easily relate to.
"101 Tricks and Illusions," Trixie read the title of the book. "Oh Amethyst, this is amazing!"
"I thought maybe if you needed some more tricks for any magic shows, maybe there could be some in there for you to use."
"Thanks! This is awesome," Trixie smiled.
"Aww, shucks," Amethyst giggled.
Trixie leaned her head back against the couch, with a smile on her face. Friends all around smiled too.
"Girls, this is the best birthday you could ever give me," Trixie smiled.
"Well, I think you still have one more present to open up," Adagio sing-songed. She pushed a single box towards her.
"A little big, isn't it?"
"Well, I think you may like what's inside," Adagio smiled. "I know this probably isn't much, but... I really hope you like it."
Trixie smiled and started to unwrap the giant ribbon on the top of the box. But just as she was about to open it, she could hear a tiny squeak from inside the box. Her hands instantly cupped her face and gasped.
"No... No way..."
"Come on, open it!"
Trixie opened the top off all the way and gasped again. Her hands cupped her mouth and tears of absolute joy started to fill her eyes. A small little bark came from inside the box which made her heart melt.
"Oh my goodness," Trixie whispered, trying her best not to cry out in absolute joy. Her hands slowly reached inside the box and lifted the small animal inside. In her hands was a fluffy little puppy with a small ribbon hanging around its neck like a gift, and its tail was wagging. All of the girls instantly went 'awww'.
"Well aren't you the cutest little puppy ever?" Trixie cooed, looking at the fluffy puppy.
The puppy moved up and licked her face, making Trixie giggle. "Hey, come on."
The little dork looked to Adagio with the most happy face she ever had, her eyes now watering with joy.
"You... you got her for me?"
"Him, actually. I thought maybe you needed a little companion whenever you were alone, and, well... I remembered something about how much you wanted a puppy since you were a little girl. I thought maybe I would try and make that a reality." Adagio brushed the back of her head. "Do... do you like it?"
"I... I love it," Trixie whispered. "I love it! Oh he's so adorable!"
The puppy got off of Trixie's lap and sat up, giving her attention. A soft panting sound coming from its jaw as he looked at her with excitement. Trixie couldn't help but smile as she patted his soft head, feeling the fluff on top.
"That is the most precious thing I've ever seen," Vinyl smiled.
"This is... the best gift anyone's ever got me," Trixie gasped. And without warning, she grabbed her girlfriend and gave her the biggest hug she had ever given. Adagio was a little shocked from the sudden attack, but she did not dare to break out of the hug.
"Thank you..." Trixie whispered.
Adagio smiled and hugged her back, wrapping her arms around her adorable as ever girlfriend.
"Happy Birthday, Trixie."
