Reptilia, The Strokes
Thanks to our readers, and Mystic Moon for his/her friendship.
Fluke arrived after Viola performed a drift into a parking spot next to a white ‘65 Ford Galaxie with dark tinted windows, a stock car rear lip spoiler, black American Racing VN427 rims, and a drop kit. Oliver stood next to it, and had set his black crash helmet on the matte black hood. Fluke parked to the left of the well built car. “Hey, what are you doing here,” Fluke asked.
“I’m here for the race,” he stated with a grin at Fluke. “How’s it goin’ dude,” he chirped.
“It's going well,” Fluke said.
“Hello, my name is Viola, Fluke’s wife,” Viola said from behind Oliver, who jumped. “You- and him-? Congratulations, I’m Oliver, but my friends call me Olly,” he sputtered before jumping back on pace, and shaking Viola’s outstretched hoof. “I’m sorry. I just never expected you two to get hitched so quickly,” he said, and grimaced. “You're fine, I never expected it either,” she said with a chuckle. “Are you on our team too?” she asked.
“Funny you ask, but-"
He was interrupted by a loud V10 roaring up. It was a white Dodge Viper ACR that apparently came for the party. “Where's the race,” the red buck asked sarcastically before a familiar blue buck trotted over and said with a cocky grin, “Right here Afterburn, you imbecile.”
“Ah, it’s our petulant child, Silverstreak. Has your mother straightened you out yet, or are you the same petulant fag from 8th grade? I don’t race children,” the red buck sneered. “Good luck with that pal. You’d be missing out on a lot of cash,” Fluke chimed in. “I wasn't talking to you peasant,” the buck sneered. “Well I was talking to you Sir Richard Dick Johnson, and I definitely don't like talking to such a penis,” Fluke said followed by him scowling and Viola, Oliver, and Fluke laughing.
More cars began to show up, but a chrome Silvia with a rocket bunny kit caught Speedy’s eye. “I’ll be right back,” he said as the cute teal mare behind the wheel stepped out of the car. He was gone in a flash, and the ACR’s driver followed. At that moment a shout was called out from a pro touring ‘73 Judge GTO, “Hey dumpster fire, what are you doing here with a matching dumpster fire of a car,” the driver jeered. Oliver turned, and opened the car before firing up what sounded like an angry monster of a 460 V8 with twin turbos. “I’m so scared. Oh wait it'll break before it can leave,” the driver jeered again before going to a parking spot next to a Jetta that looked ready for a GT3 race.“Prick,” Oliver muttered.
Silverstreak staggered back with a slap mark across his face, and as he approached, Viola laughed, and he groaned, “I think I was too forward.” There was a beeping that filled the air from the GPS systems, and then a voice shouted, “Race to the top of Mount Bonnet! Go!” Everyone ran or flew to their cars, and took off down the street.
Oliver was the first to hit the road, but was passed up by a drifting Viola, who was passed by the Viper. Fluke reversed through a back alley, before pulling a J turn, and missing a truck. The Silvia followed him, and the driver grinned as she passed. They were side by side as they left the alley and got on highway 9 and Fluke thundered in front of the Silvia, who then attempted a pit maneuver, which almost backfired on her, so she used NOS, and jolted ahead as they reunited with some of the pack.
A camaro hit Fluke, but he hit him back, and he took an NSX with him as he slammed into the guard rail. Fluke undertook, and overtook cars until he caught up to the Silvia, who was battling a pro touring ‘67 Ford F100, and passed them both on the shoulder.
Meanwhile Speedy in his 1968 Dodge Charger, dubbed Hellraiser, sped down the highway passing other racers and pedestrians. Soon the white Viper sped up behind Speedy and rammed the rear of his car. As he regained control he noticed the Viper’s driver laughing as he passed the Charger. Speedy grit his teeth has he shifted into fourth gear and sped up. The Hemi motors supercharger whined loudly sucking in air as he sped up towards the Viper. He saw the Viper spew fire as it's NOS was used but the 1000+ horsepower of Hellraiser kept up. As he was gonna pass the Viper slammed him in the side hard and caused Speedy to go off the road down the side onto a dirt road.
Speedy quickly corrected the car and sped down the track figuring out how to get back on the highway. Looking at the GPS he saw the road had a bridge that went over the highway. Timing it right Speedy turned sharp left and went off the road down the hill. He kept control as Hellraiser went over every rock and bump possible until jumping back onto the highway behind his friends. As he landed he heard a large clunk behind him as he sped off. “I think that was the shocks.” he said.
Oliver and Viola pulled a side by side drift with an FC RX-7 hot on their hooves, and they were then plunged into dirt as they hit the scenic route beside the highway. The Thunderbird held its ground, and fell back slightly before slamming the RX-7’s front end with his car, causing him to hit a tree. Viola up shifted, and hit a dirt hill, and went airborne before landing on the freeway. Oliver took a dirt path down to the freeway, and they caught up to Silverstreak and Fluke, who then exited the freeway for another highway.
While Oliver hit an eager opponent, and protected Viola from cheaters, they pushed on as Fluke and Speedy avoided traffic on the curvy two lane stretch of Route 23. They passed Maresville, and beat a train before turning onto the Mount Bonnet national park entryway and blowing through the open gate. Speedy gunned the engine, and took lead when the Viper came into view, and so did Fluke.
REMAINING RACERS: 20
The readout on the GPS was helpful, and even suggested routes. Oliver and Viola led the pack, but they were far from catching up as they saw Fluke and Speedy take off. The Silvia shot passed them, and attempted to catch up. Oliver's Galaxie screamed and Viola’s Lancer growled, and they drifted side by side with rear entry drifts, but kept their lead as they entered the second hairpin with braking drifts.
The Viper was close, and both Speedy and Fluke’s cars screamed, but then he began to pull away, then they passed a checkered flag on a lamp post, and stopped at the ski lodge. They both panted from the effort, and stepped out of their cars, as the pack caught up.
It had been a long race, and they had been debriefed by the host before going to their team cabins. “I gotta tune my gear ratio,” Fluke groaned. “My reinforced body and chassis works like the car’s a tank,” Oliver chirped. “I think I found that missing shock that broke off.” Speedy said as he carried a torn shock absorber.
