Chapter 4: Taking the responsibility

3 months later
As a orange Pegasus with a purple mane entered the doctors clinic just on the edge of the Everfree Forrest she felt a tranquility blow over her. There was now a visible bump coming off her stomach. Aquardly holding it in one hoof while walking with the others definitely drew other ponys to her.

The majority of Ponyville now knew of the 15 year old situation but non how she ended up like this as she want one to go tell everyone how she was used that horrid day. Just the slight thought of it made a chill go down her spine and stretch to the tips of her wings. She knew eventually ponys would ask her but for now she kept that to herself.

In the doctors clinic she was joined by Emerald and Rainbowdash, the past few months had been hard especially with school starting up again, but dispite the constant teasing from diamond tiara and silver spoon she didn't care she was happy and with her friends there was nothing she feared. Apart from what she was told next.

She barly made it home that night. The news was just too much for her to take.

She had suspicions but for it now to be confirmed she couldn't take it. Dispite Emeralds attempt at cheering Scootaloo up which involved a sleepover at Rainbows or tickets for a wonderbolts show nothing did the trick. "I think I'm just gonna go to bed Emerald, Night." The tone in Scootaloo's voice had been one Emerald had heard before, when adoption day came arround every year but no one her took her, heck she'd only had one viewing in the past 3 years from a couple living in Canterlot but they weren't looking for a "trouble maker" as they put it.

Emerald only had words of comfort to respond to Scootaloo with "I'm sure it's a mistake sweetheart," she said in the most motherly voice she could muster but it did nothing to stop Scootaloo's depressed sigh over powering it.

Once laid on her bed she reached for the Rainbowdash plushy that always came with comfort for her. The news had ripped her apart, after so long. The hope was gone. Nothing could be done.

She lay on her side and closed her eyes to try to welcome sleep but it never came to grace her.

Rainbowdash once equestria's fastest flyer was now going no faster than Fluttershy as she was lost in thaught. The past few months mad been stressful and bussy for her just to make Scootaloo happy but now this discovery, could she still do it. She'd had so much support from all her friends and even the princesses. could she really do this. Put her entire life aside, everything she's worked for and wanted. Just for this one filly now even more broken than before.

She had to get away just for a little while, she needed someone to talk to. Fluttershy! Dash changed her course and started to head towards the shy Pegasus' cottage.

Once she was there she knocked frantically on the door not giveing a second without knocking again until the yellow Pegasus with a light pink mane opened the door. She let her inside and offered her a cup of tea to which Dash graciously thanked her for.

Once Dash had sat down and taken in her surroundings she had noticed a colourful character with two different wings and a dragons tale instantly recognising discord she looked at him sorrowfully as if begging him to ask her what's wrong. Lucky for Rainbow he did just that.

"What's wrong," asked discord in his chaotic voice which they had all become accustomed to. "Is there something wrong with the whole Scootaloo, baby thing?"

Dash froze "how do you know about that?"

"I'm the god of chaos, I know everything, Plus I heard Derpy talking to that doctor character about it. Watch out for him by the way he's not what you think."

A little taken a back from what discord said she replied "ye it's not going well for the kid, she thought it'd all settled down until this shows up now. Not ideal."

"If you don't mind me asking, what's wrong with her?" Discord question while Fluttershy walked back in with a tray of tea balanced on her back.

"She can't fly," Rainbowdash sorrowfully said. "Like for good, she'll never fly. Something to do with the muscles not developing properly. I always knew she'd never be the best at flying due to her decreased size but I never thought she'd never fly altogether."

Rainbow slowly lent over to lift her cup of tea to her lips to take a sip, she visibly relaxed as the hot liquid made its way down her throat and settled in her stomach. Seeing the chance Fluttershy spoke up "erm so dash, a few months ago when you called that meeting you said you had made a decision, but you never told anypony," Fluttershy hesitated "do you mind."

Rainbowdash look at the hard wood floor before sighing in defeat "I chose that I wanted to adopt her, for her to come live with me, to be her big sister for real or even... Mother if she wanted. But how can I do that now Flutters, she can't get to my house if she can't fly. But I..."

"You what Dash" Fluttershy said in a tone that demanded an answer.

"I love her Fluttershy. Like she's my own. Ever since we first used the god forsaken elements I knew what I wanted to do and then I met her and she looked up to me and idolised me but I let her down for my own selfish needs and I feel like I'm doing that all over again."

"Dash" Fluttershy spoke in a caring and comforting manor "you love that little filly and I can see you do, you've made tough decisions in your life but that's what got you here today, to this decision. Now you make the big one."

"I want her Fluttershy," dash was now broken into tears "I want her as my own. My daughter."

"Then go to her. Now," Fluttershy pushed rainbow out of her cottage and didn't look away until she was no longer visible.

"So where were we honey?" Asked discord with a cheeky smile plastered across lips.

Fluttershy could only laugh "come on then ya big goof."

Emerald was disturbed from her position of laying on the couch but a frantic knocking at the door, going to open it she saw the multi coloured mane of Rainbowdash.

"Emerald I need to talk to you, now," Rainbow said as she made her way into the house and sat down at the table. "It's about Scootaloo."

"Yes I know she's verry upset and now she truly believes bo one will want her. I don't know what to do rainbow, I can't afford her anymore with all the medical bills and new bed sheets I have to buy its just all too much."

"Emerald..." Dash swallowed the lump in her throat and spoke quiet so the Pegasus upstairs wouldn't hear her "I want to adopt her."

The green earth ponys face fell silent. Did she just hear what she thaught she heard. "You want her Rainbowdash? But she can't fly, how would sh-"

She was cut off by rainbows response "I'm selling my house so she can live with me, I'll still treat her like a Pegasus but she'll live on the earth with me. That is if you deem me a fit pony to adopt Scootaloo?"

"What, obviously your fit to adopt her I mean your selling your mansion just so she can be happy, and I know that payoff from the wonderbolts means you've got plenty of cash."

She was right the pay off was huge and she could easy afford the bills and new items she had to get for Scootaloo.

While Dash was lost in her own thoughts Emerald had gone and fetched payers for her to sign. She has wanted this day to come around for a long time now and here it was Scootaloo was getting a real family. But most importantly she didn't have to give her foal away. She'd never been happier.

Once all the forms were filled in and Rainbow had signed where she had to all she needed now was Scootaloo's signature and they'd be a family. She was going to crash at twilights until she'd got a new house on the ground. But the castle was big enough.

As they made there way up the old wooden steps they couldn't hear anything and both of them just assumed she'd gone to sleep. But as they entered the door the room was empty and the window open.

What laid on the bed next to the Rainbowdash plushy, at which Dash blushed a bit, was a note written while crying due to the water stains on the paper.

Dear Emerald
I have gone into the Everfree forst to find zecora so she can make me fly. I'm sorry but I need to fly, how else will I get Rainbowdash's attention. I just want her to love me and give me a home. Now like this I've got no chance.
Scootaloo

Both of there hearts froze and they knew the everfree forst Aless no place for a filly in that state and so unprepared.

Emerald and Rainbowdash both ran into the forest and went straight to zecora's hut, but to there horror Scootaloo hadn't been there.

Zecora spoke out of panic "oh my we must find Scootaloo, or we may lose her and the foal too."

Author's Note

Oh the tensions starting to grow. Scootaloo has ran off and cannot be found and what's going on in Fluttershys cottage?

Anyway thank you reading this chapter I really enjoyed writing this one and sorry I could only have a bit of zecora dialogue I can't rhyme.
