Chapter 6: planning ahead

7 months pregnant
"Hey mum, do you think this would suit the foal?" Asked a giggling Scootaloo.

"Scoots you don't eve know if it's a colt or filly," rainbow said plainly.

"I will tomorrow, and plus I have a feeling it'll be a little colt"

Rainbow just replied with a blank stare. The past 3 months had gone surprisingly well despite the constant warning from her friends that there wold be arguments but non happened. Instead Scootaloo and Dash got on amazingly, mainly due to the fact that they knew each other so well from the camping trips and flight lessons.

Neither of the two mares really talked about the past as it brought back uncomfortable memory's for Scootaloo. As Rainbow looked over at her adopted daughter she saw the scar where her wing was hidden under the shirt Rarity had made her to hide her "defect". It never really effected her as she couldn't fly before but there was the obvious teasing from Diamond and Silver but that stopped once they realised that the entire class had turned against them.

Scootaloo was looking through foal cloths. Yes it was true she wouldn't know until tomorrow she couldn't wait, if you had told her 3 months ago that she'd have a mum and be able to raise her own foal she would have requested Princess Celestia banish you to Tarterus. But here she was, she missed being able to fly even if it was just hovering for a few seconds but every night she would lay in bed on her back and feel one wing under her but not the other. She had become adapt though as she used it like a fifth hoof, to hold things with and even to stroke and tickle her stomach while she talked to the life within her.

After a good seven hours looking around the Ponyville market her and Rainbow decided to call it a day and as always she suggested they go to Shugercube corner and as always Scootaloo ran to it before Rainbow actually got an answer, but this time Rainbow bit on Scootaloo's tail to stop her.

"Hey what's that for?" Scootaloo shot at Rainbow.

"I've got a surprise for you so no going ahead this time." Rainbow said as she smirked at the surprise she had planned for her daughter.

The look that she got in return was priceless. Scootaloo was both exited and worried, it is Rainbowdash after all. But she just shook it of and continued her way to the corner.

Once there she stopped and looked around for her mother but she was gone. The only thing she caught a glimpse of was the rainbow trail heading towards the back of the sugar coated building. Smiling she entered the shop, only to be greated by the dark. "Ok what the buck is going on here."

"Darling, language!"

"Shhhh, sis stay quiet it's supposed to be a surprise she might here you."

"I already have." Scootaloo said emotionlessly.

"SURPRISE!!!!!"

All pony's of the town jumped out at the now rather large orange mare. In the blur of colour that blinded her she made out both of her friends Sweetiebelle and Applebloom, there sisters and friends. But she couldn't find her mother anywhere.

But before that had any chance to set in she was bombarded by everypony there congratulating her and wishing her luck. After the initial attack on her she saw the banner hung up across the roof of Sugarcube corner "Baby shower for Scoot-" Scootaloo laughed as she saw Lyra and Bon Bon with paint in there coat and remembered when they did the banner for princes Celestia and it only came out as "celest."

Walking over to the main table she saw a cake obviously baked by pinkie as it was mostly made out of sugar and marshmallows and having to look after the foal she decided to skip out on it, which she was happy she did as she saw Button Mash passed out on the arcade machines due to the sugar crash.

Once the party had ended and everypony had left apart from the other 2 CMC members and AJ, Rarity, Twilight, Fluttershy and Pinkie as she lived there, all apart from rainbow still, come to think of it she hadn't seen her all evening and it was only 8:30 so she would never be in bed. That got Scootaloo worried to the point where she finally asked about her. "Hey where's Rainbow?"

"Ah don't know sugar cube, I ain't seen her neither" Applejack answered now starting to question her cyan friends whereabouts. "I thought that she'd be her for ya special party. But I'll walk ya home then, its on the way to the acres anyway and you and Ab have a lot of catching up to do anyways now you can't go crusading or help anypony till the little ones here."

"Well the lights on AJ, why do you think she left the party?" Asked a confused Scooaloo.

"Ah don't know but ima give her a talking to!" Replied a now quite pissed Applejack.

As the orange mare steadily made her way towards the oak door on Rainbowdash and Scootaloo's new house she heard a loud crash. She now started to panic, she knew that Rainbow hadn't fully adapted to living in a house she couldn't fly through if all went to shit. But what surprised her was the fact there were no lights on apart from the spare room at the top let of the stairs and living room. AJ just figured she was just rearranging the boxes until she heard Dash shout "dam this looked a hell of a lot easer to build on the box than this crap!".

"Eh Rainbow you ok? I've got Scooaloo with me and she's mighty upset wi'ch ya about leavin the party!"

"What she's back already, I'm not finished yet."

"Erm what's not done yet?"

"Don't come up, please don't come up!"

"Mum your scaring me. I'm coming in I'm sorry bu-" Scootaloo cut herself off as she walked in and saw what Rainbow was trying to hide.

"Surprise!!! Sort of." Rainbow said slightly disheartened.

"You... You made this while I was at the party?" Asked a in shock Scootaloo.

"Ye I wanted to make sure the foal had somewhere to stay. Sorry I ditched you at pinkies." Rainbow looked down in a sorrowful movement towards her daughter. She'd just adopted her and earned her full trust and now she's lied and abandoned her. She couldn't start to think of what was going through Scootaloo's mind.

She didn't have to wait long though as Scootaloo's eyes started to water and tears streamed down her face and she hugged Rainbowdash as tight as she could. "No ones ever done anything for me like this, I thaught that the foal would have to sleep in my room but now, now it has a whole nursery to its self. Thank you mum. Thank you." Rainbow made out what Scootaloo had said during her more emotional moment and just held her close.

Applejack seeing as it was a personal moment made her way back down the stairs and out the front door. But not before hearing a exchange of love between mother and daughter.

"Mum, mum come on the appointments in 20 minutes and I can't wait!" Shouted and extremely impatient Scootaloo. After 7 months of waiting she would finally know if she was having a Colt or filly and she was ecstatic.

"Scoots calm down your your gonna hurt the little one." Replied a no nonsense Rainbowdash. She was as exited as Scootaloo but she also wanted it to actually survive and with how Scootaloo was bouncing it was getting risky.

"Oh sorry." Scootaloo looked down as she realised how irresponsible she was being.

"Don't sweat it. But also never do that again!"

Scootaloo nodded in understanding and the both continued there way to the clinic.

Once there they were checked in and the doctor started to do tests on Scootaloo and the foal. They both came back as fine dispite Scootaloo's smaller size compared to other Pegasus her age. But then the question she had been waiting for was asked.

"Would you like to know if it's a Colt or filly, miss Scootaloo?" Asked nurse red heart.

"Yes please I've been so exited to find out!" Answered Scootaloo nearly flying of the table in impatience.

"Ok calm down. Your having a little..."

First off I know this is like a week after the last chapter but I've had a really busy week and I've got exams coming up soon so there gonna have to take priority I'm sorry. Secondly I've not decided if it's a Colt or filly yet so I decided to add the cliffhanger in there at the end. I can't say when the next chapter will be out but I will try when I get a chance like I said my exams are coming up.
