Chapter 1: Lonely holiday

On a highway far from the big city, a single grey sedan car is driving through the highway road and head further into the wilderness. The driver of the car was a young man around his mid 20's, he has brown brunette hair, blue eyes along with an American look to him, wearing a black jersey shirt with red sleeves and black Nike shorts along with white sneakers.

The young lad goes by the name of William Stanford who is driving his car to the woods. Right now in this time around, summer is close by and the weather is getting warmer, just the way he like it, and what better to do than to spend his time near nature inside a cozy cottage, locate further into the woods.

This cottage was built near to a lake by his great-grandparents who first came to the area long ago, since then the cottage was made for both his great-grandparents along with future generations who would want to spend time in the woods and near the lake to swim, kayak and many other outdoor activities.

The last time he came to the cottage was when he was during his late teens, around 17 or older, his parents along with him had helped restore the cottage integrity by repainting, house cleaning and did minor changes. Now he's hoping that most of the cottage's designs are still intact after all these years.

William inhales deeply before making a long sigh "Man, I bet it's going to be lonelier than before." he thought in his mind as he remembers that his parents were always by his side each time he went to the cottage, well not this time.

Because about three years ago, William's mother suffered from cancer, the doctors tried their best to save her life from medication to surgery, but none was enough to save her, eventually she passed away from the cancer, but at least he was by her side at the last moment.

A few months after the incident, his father begins to be neglected towards his son as he goes out late at night and rarely came home. Eventually William found out that his father was with another women, this cause tension between the two. William was frustrated at the fact of how his father was now with another women after his mother had passed away, his father only excuse is that if he kept wept for his late wife, than it won't do any good to him.

Feeling frustrated, William decides to move out of his house and live by himself in an apartment, luckily William was able to take care of himself, getting his own job as a businessmen and buying all his needs without recklessly wasting money. But there's one thing that he always wanted in his whole life but didn't have yet, which is a love interest.

Without his family, he started to lose his motivation to interact with girls or even bothering to talk to them, and even then he's always terrible with girls, despite of how hard and careful he tried.

The last time he heard about his father is about a year ago when he visits his aunt, who says that his father now lived in Paris with his new wife and are starting a new family there.

William was disappointed of how his father decided to forget all the memories he had with his late wife and son, but William decided that it was for the best since he doesn't want to make any confrontation with his father or reliving all the tragic events years ago when his mother died.

As William is driving on the road, he thought about everything that had happened and sighs deeply "Why did it had to be this way?" he thought deeply as he headed closer to his destination.

After a long hour of driving it was nearly nighttime, he decides to turn on the head lights of his car as he drives to a narrow road where there are plenty of grass and trees, when he parked his car next to his family's old cottage, he stepped out of the car and take out several of his stuff from the trunk and moved it into the cottage, as soon as he done packing, he then walk towards a dock on the shore near to a large lake.

He stood on the dock and was at peace once he saw the lake and the surrounding forest, despite nearly closing to pitch black, fortunately there was a full moon which is about to rise and he saw a few stars in the sky. He then looked down onto the lake which was shimmering under the star and moonlight.

He takes a huge inhale from his nose and exhale through his mouth "If only mom and dad are still here." he said to himself. After a few minutes on the dock, William decided to walk back into his cottage and begin to prepare his stuff to be ready for bed.

He stepped into the cottage and shut all the doors and windows tight, to ensure that no woodland critters would sneak in. He then hid his food supply into his fridge.

"Hm..." William said as he observes the interior of his cottage "The place is still intact very nicely." he said to himself as he's a bit surprised that the cottage still remains beautiful in the inside.

William then looks through one of the windows of his cottage "It's too dark to see what the cottage looks like from the outside." He thought " I guess I should do that by tomorrow morning." He concludes as he decides to have a few snacks and relax on his couch, watching TV before bedtime.

About an hour or two later, William checks the time on a clock hanging on the wall and saw that it was half past ten, he then turns of the TV and headed to his room where he picks up his pajamas along with a toothbrush and toothpaste and heads to the bathroom and got changed.

A few minutes later, he walked out of the bathroom, wearing blue pajamas and ready to hit the bed, but first he turns off almost all the lights before heading to his bedroom, the room was quite small as it's only enough to fit two single beds and a single black nightstand between the two beds with a lamp on top, which was the only light source that was still on. The second bed was for any of William's friends or relatives who goes to the cottage with him who wants to have a sleepover with.

William turns on a fan nearby and hops into his bed, he looks up at the ceiling of his room before looking at the bed right next to his " It's not like having someone to go with me will make a difference." He lied to his self as he knew deep down, he's lonelier than ever, considering that this is his first time staying at his family cottage...alone.

William then turns of the lamp, covering all of his room in darkness as he slowly, but clearly starting to fall a sleep. Unnoticed to him that right outside of his cottage, the entire lake suddenly glows white under the moonlight before the lake stops glowing just as quick, as if no one had ever noticed it.
