One hundred and fifty years after Nightmare Moon's defeat, the Elements of Harmony's descendants, unknowing of their heritage, must unite and become friends, as well as the Element their ancestor once stood for, to defeat Nightmare Moon once again, hopefully for good. When this proves difficult, in part due to the nature of the magic involved, a solution is sought not in the present or future, but in the past.
