//-------------------------------------------------------// The Worlds of Magic -by Julian the Dreamer- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Arc 1: Justice //-------------------------------------------------------// Arc 1: Justice Discord's house was a shifting building, capable of growing and shrinking, adding rooms to fit the needs of its inhabitants. Like it was right now. A hallway grew as wood gradually shifted to rock the deeper one went, finishing in doors of ice that melted to grant entrance to Mini D as they dragged Discord in by pulling on his ear and horn. "AGH! H-hEyYYyyY! Stopstopsto-MINI D!" The draconequus finally freed himself from the Spirit's titanic grip, his horn wobbling back and forth in an attempt to recover its rigidity. "I get that you are angry, but did you have to drag me all the way here by making me walk?" The stuffed toy glared at the draconequus, the fact that they had buttons for eyes not diminishing the palpable anger in the slightest. "I don't care if it hurts, we need to do this. " They were in a simple stone chamber, where wisps of fire danced in the sky as snowflakes traveled in ghostly winds. Fire and ice; a combination that defined Discord long ago. A dual dance that once filled an entire kind. Is this... nostalgia? "I believe it is, dear." "Do you remember your name?" Mini D asked suddenly, getting the other Spirit out of his wandering ruminations. "Discord," he answered, not sure where this was going. That earned him a slap in the head. "That's what saying yes to becoming a spirit turned you into; but it is not your true name," the ancient Spirit of Chaos corrected. "It may as well be my true self now; thanks to my time as a lawn ornament I'm-" Discord hesitated, hating the words, the feelings that tried to get past his lips. Emotions may be a part of chaos, but he despised the turmoil that now resided within both his heart and mind. But he could trust Mini D-no, The Assistant. The Spirit of Chaos that had answered his pleas and appeared when he needed help the most. A being so ancient the word was an understatement... And he could trust them. He could always trust them. "Sometimes, I feel broken," the draconequus confessed. Mini D's glare softened as they floated to the center of the chamber, the elements around the Spirits almost embracing the duo. "Before being Discord, you were a draconequus. Do you remember that?" That question gave him Discord pause. His childhood had ended long ago, in a time surrounded with more pain than his pride cared to admit. "Kind of? Everyting is... foggy. I remember fear..." Fear of war, and losing mo- Kevin gently pushed the fragment of memory aside. He understood that fear all too well. "... love..." A warm hug and a promise of- Chrissy shifted, the piece of memory bringing up things of her own past she didn't like thinking about. "... a chance to be fantastic." An offer I sometimes regret taking. He admitted to himself, the others not voicing their opinion for once. "Anything else?" Mini D pressed. "The fact that I'm the last." Bitter words spoken as the clear anguish and denial of those years filled his mind again. Eris gently hugged Discord in the mental plane as Nidhogg snorted in contempt at his own past; that was a pain they both had felt in their lives. Monstruous as the Spirits in his head had been, they were not without empathy. At least, not with him. A hundred thousand years together tended to caused that. "You should have told me that you had amnesia. You should have told me that it was this bad. But what's done is done; at least now we can start healing your mind." "Zero Morpheus already tried, Mini D. But most of my memories are gone. I can recover the fragments left behind, but the rest is beyond any Spirit." "Then it's a good thing that I came out with something else," Mini D smiled. With a snap, time flowed from the roof like golden water, forming a swirling column in the middle of the chamber. Mini D floated towards it. "I asked a temporal creature that owed me a favor to create it. This will help you relive your timeline." The Spirit gently touched the column of time, particles floating around the talon as they focused on a specific time. "If we can't fix your memory, we can recreate it. New memories, identical to the old in every aspect and form." Discord's jaw dropped to the floor, the ones in his head staring in disbelief. A copy of an entire timeline, right in front of them. Even for the bearers of the position of Discord, this was incredible. "I... I will remember?" My name... Mom... Discord took a trembling step forward, chaos magic gently surging from him, reacting to the emotions raging in his heart. Nidhogg's glare silenced Meridian before he could make a mocking comment. "I'm here with you, dear." Eris reminded Discord, offering her whole support."Let's do this." Mini D tried to look as reassuring as possible while pushing the column towards Discord. He took a deep breath and walked forward. He was Discord! He didn't tremble at situations like this. He was brave and confident and proud, and he was going to get the answers he desired. With growing resolution, he entered the column of time. Almost a millenia and a half ago, in Arcana Magna... The cool breezes of autumn ran through the city of Frostfire as the populace woke up grumbling, unwilling to abandon their comfortable beds and start the day. One such draconequus turned away from his open window, eyes closed as he fought to submerge himself again in a serene sleep. A dash of fiery feathers and a mischievous chirp were all the signals his tired brain missed as a phoenix gently but insistently pecked him over and over. "AGH! H-hEyYYyyY! Stopstopsto-got you!" Cinders surrounded the two figures as the phoenix looked at the draconequus with a playful look that belayed a threat of buying new sheets and cleaning ashes from his room again if he didn't release his beak. "...You are cruel, you know." How a creature that wasn't sentient enough to be considered more than a smart animal could be so smug was beyond Justice. As he released the phoenix, the draconequus grabbed his pillow to use as a makeshift shield, praying that the bird wouldn't use his fire. With a chirp that was clearly a victory laugh, the bird flew out the open window. Justice got up, his tired eyes barely perceiving the simple room, a bed and a bag in a corner the only things in it. More by moemory than by sight, he closed his window, grumbling all the way. Why can't this window stay closed? I don't have school today, I wanted to sleep in! Claws massaged his face, the draconequus trying to force himself to stay awake. Cursing his luck, Justice resigned himself to an early start for the day.
