The Dawn of a New Age Bathed in Blood
First Hour of the New Age
'Oh how the time's have changed' heavy clanking started to creep up to me. I tighten the grip on my rifle as the noise reaches it apex, and a Earth pony royal Guard steps into view rifle hanging at his side looking straight forward he passes by, moments later another comes into view looking to his right. 'Any moment the signal will come, so just keep walking.' I shoulder my rifle and aim down the alley as the clanking reached another apex as a unicorn guard looking down the alley came into view.'Just keep on walking' My hoof came to my trigger. The guard stops eyes squinting to see if he really saw something. 'Just go! LEAVE!'
"Private! What are you doing!" Yelled somepony down the street.'Come on!' The guard turns his head mouth open to say something. 'FWOMP-FREEEEEEEEEEE' I don't wait and squeeze the trigger. 'Cli-CRAAH' The rifle was deafening as the guard collapses a hole going through his head and blood caking the house behind him. 'BABOMF' suddenly the street is coated in a dark blue glow. Quickly I begin the process of bolting 'Backleftbackright' 'Ca-chink' a large brass casing flies out 'Leftforwardrightforward' I finish 'Clink-clink' I rush forward and hop over the guards' body standing up on my hind legs I take aim down the street. Both the remaining guards faces are in disbelief, eyes wide and mouth open but the farthest one was in the process of bringing his rifle up, moving to stand on his hind legs. I shift aim slightly and Squeeze.
'Cli-CRAAH'
And the farthest guard falls, his momentum of going to his hind legs and the bullet puts him on his back. I move to bolt the rifle but heavy clanking catches my attention. The last guard has forgone fumbling with his rifle and began to charge me. Surprised I fumbled and took a step back. He makes it to me quickly, tackling me to the ground knocking the wind out of me and sending my rifle clattering behind me. Standing over me he moves to throw a punch.
'CRAAH'
A massive hole appears in his chest, blood coming out in droves. Stopping the guard looks to his chest in shock. Shifting I push him off and away from me. Standing up I go and recover my rifle. Picking it up I hear heavy rattling running to me from up the street.
"Needing to bail you out already huh?" A heavy gruff voice spoke up. Looking over, a large male earth pony was walking up to me his coat a black with a striking white mane, with a uniform a dark blue and a vest with multiple pouches lining his chest, large bag's sat at his sides, and a large heavy machine gun slung to his left side and a grin on his face. To his left was a gray coated male unicorn with a brown mane, uniform the same dark blue, multiple pouches lined his vest as well as a bandolier of single shells.
"Nice to see that you took my order not to do anything stupid seriously." Voice deep as a red coated male pegasus with a short yellow mane stepped up from the right of the earth pony, gold eyes stern and uniform and rifle matching that of the gray unicorn.
"ehheh" scratching the back of my head I look away, then my eyes caught the guard that tackled me. His eyes were glossed over and lifeless still retaining the expression of shock and seemingly looking at me. Turning my head back I stare at Cinder, his eyes still stern but with life. Multiple gunshots were going off in the distance some louder than others.
"I-I saw an opportunity sir." I reply shuffling "One was already looking down the alley I was in and the other two were not that far behi-" (placeholder2) interrupted me.
"Alright, I understand then." Cinder Cloud says turning around and beginning to walk up the street "I don't need a story and we have orders to complete."
"Sir Yes Sir!" Me, Mourning Star, and Flint yell out as we break out into a gallop to catch up, once we caught up Cinder began to gallop as well heading for a cross section up the street, coming to a stop once we reach it Flint and Cinder move to their hind legs and begin to slowly look around the corners with Flint taking the left and Cinder right.
"Clear." Flint calls out coming down and slinging his rifle to his side.
"Clear." Cinder calls shortly after doing the same and we begin to continue the gallop up the street before hitting another cross section. As we went to check the corners the ground shook as a massive explosion was heard. Stumbling we look to the castle, a massive cloud of debris and dust was rising from the northern point of the castle and just a little past that was a golden glowing ball seemingly floating in the air. Suddenly a large blue beam cut through the debris and into the gold orb, pushing it back and seemingly redirecting the beam into multiple smaller beams across its surface. Following the beam was a dark blue glowing ball, and within a blink the blue ball slammed into the gold one causing a visible distortion between the two. For a moment neither seem to give any ground before the gold orb suddenly shot down and out of sight with the blue one following right after, shortly after that the ground shook once more and a plum of dust and debris shot into the air.'Buck' With that I noticed that there were no more gunshots going on in the background, all seemingly having stopped to watch the spectacle going on in the air. Quickly I look around for anypony sneaking up on us, seeing nothing I look over to Cinder, eyes narrowed and a frown marred his face as he looked off to the sky. Squaring myself up I go to grab his attention.
"A battle between goddesses." Came the heavy voice of Flint, looking over I see him looking off into the sky, green eyes wide and mouth slightly open. "They'll destroy the whole city." He whispers. A grunt from my left gets my attention. Mourning Star was looking at Flint, face solid, eyebrows furrowed and brown eyes sharp.
"We knew this was going to happen, whether this city is still standing or not will be none of our concern for it is our job to secure it. Whether its ruble or not." Mourning Star says seemingly standing taller, (PH1) having looked over at Mourning, nodded his head and squared himself up.
"If you all are done with your lovers moment shall we continue our mission?" Cinder called out bringing our attention to him.The ground shook again as another plum of dust and debris shoot into the sky. Suddenly a shot rang out in the distance, then another and in a few moments the fighting seems to have begun with a new vigor.'It's time for us to join that now.' Frowning I move up to the cross section, hoof steps follow up behind me. Shifting to my hind legs I swing my rifle up ready to aim and get ready to peak down the left road.
"Now." Flint says, shuffling to the right I look down my road. Quickly I move my rifle into sight, four guards were galloping down the road, their gold armor unmistakable and they were slowing down. Their heads are pointed in my direction.
"cle-" Flint begins "CONTACT!" I bellow over him bringing the rifle sights over the closest guard. The guard group seems to have stumbled as they realized what they were looking at, the one I was aiming at noticing last. It will be his last. Squeeze
'Cli-CRAAH'
The guards' head explodes into a shower of gore, painting the guards behind him red and his helmet flying over a house. His body topples over its self now with out command. Swiftly I bolt my rifle and take aim to the second closest guard. The group tries to bring themselves to a halt and bring their rifles to bear. Not one of them thinking to move themselves to cover. Behind me I hear hoof steps moving and slipping on the cobblestone road. Squeeze
'Cli-CRAAH'
This round punched a large hole in the guards throat, a bloody mist exploding out behind him. Lifelessly he collapses to the ground. The last two remaining guards begun to move to their hind legs. I begin to bolt my rifle.
'CRAAH'
A shot rang out behind me. The furthest Guard collapses his right hind leg blown off at the joint. Then he lets off a blood curtailing scream. Finishing the bolting action I take aim at the last one, who was in the midst of bringing his rifle to bear.
"Buck" I hear Flint say behind me. Squeeze
'Cli-CRAAH'
The top of his head disappears into red mist and his helmet is sent flying off in two different directions,then his body drops like a puppet cut of its strings mid performance. Bolting I shift my aim to the thrashing and screaming guard. Squeeze
'Click'
'Huh?' Pulling the rifle away from my face I pull the bolt back till I could see slightly into the chamber, there was no rounds left. I look back up and over to the last guard screaming his head off. Suddenly Cinder walks past me, making his way to the last guard. Looking away I remove a five round stack from a pouch on my vest and stop. There was a large dark spot staining the uniform, right over my heart. Flinching I move on from it, pushing the rounds into the rifle I throw the strip off to the side and stop.There was no more screaming. Glancing up I see Cinder wiping his knife off on the guards coat, staining it red. He looks up from the guard and jerks his head up the street he is on.Flint and Mourning Star walk past me, quickly I bolt the rifle forward and move to join up with them.
"Flint work on your aim." Cinder says looking over at him, then he looks over at me. "And no need to wast ammunition Lightning" I nod upset about myself, having let the stallion suffer longer than needed. "Now, Lets go see where these fellow were coming from." He says turning around and moving up the street. The rest of us move up with him ready to act. As we moved up the street having checked several cross sections, a large gold beam had streaked across the sky and a large amount of gunshots were getting louder. Eventually the gunshots reach its peak,sounding as if they are coming from the next section.Coming up on it move to a stop. Cinder nods his head at me then motions to the opposite side of the fighting. Nodding back I move to make a quick peak.
"On three we peak." Cinder says keeping his voice just load enough over the roar of gun fire. "One, two, three!" Swiftly I poke my head out and then back in. Nothing, there was nothing.
"Clear" I relay over to Cinder, he nods and motions me over.
"Two Squads of guards close to while another is on the other side of the street, they seem to have caught one or more of our squads in a building. Lightning and Flint will run over to the other side,while me and Mourning Star cover this corner and on Mournings shots we open fire. Damn there is no cover in these streets." He orders out. Nodding I get ready to dash, Flint coming up next to me. "Go." Swiftly we move across the section and slide to a stop on the other side. Moving to position I stand on my hind legs and go to peak around the corner, rifle at the ready while Flint went to his stomach and crawled out to peak. Peaking the corner I come to see a multitude of guards, either standing or on their stomach, surrounding a building full of holes. Further up the street laid a dark body with leathery wings. Suddenly the ground shakes heavily.
'BWAAAAAMF'
A massive explosion sounds forth and I fall against the buildings corner, using it as a brace. The guards standing were not as lucky and fell flat onto their faces and backs. Seeing such the current occupiers of the house retaliate with rifle fire with only what seems to be two mist of red in return. Then the prone guards returned fire and Mourning star was one that didn't want to be out don't opened up.
'CRACRACRACRACRACRACRACRACRACRA'
Mournings LMG belched as red mist sprung up from multiple guards and massive chunks the cobblestone road was being thrown into the air. Shocked, the guards scramble to get up, the first one to get up had a massive chunk of ripped out of his chest from a rifle. The second had his throat torn out from Flint, his rifle barking. The third one I sighted on, he was getting up facing away from me. Sque-
'FROOOOMMMMP'
The house the guard was next to exploded into dust and debris. Quickly a dark blue streak with a gold one on top came out and went digging a trench into the ground, straight through the guard group and taking the house with the friendlies out in much the same fashion as the other one. The first house that was hit caved in on its self with the second one not far behind. Debris, dust and screams of agony filled the street.
'This is going to be a long night.'
