The story begins with a large turquoise balloon which has been given birth in an English class part of this unforgiving world. But it was actually greeted the balloon with joy and everypony eventually all agreed to call him Alex.
Later in the day, the mentors of the school started to be annoyed by the presence of the balloon. They walked to the student and gave them a warning because they were being disrupting and could become a distraction.
One of the young colts continued playing and a blond mare with a purple coat heads toward the balloon and takes it from him . She enters a room with the balloon and the door closes behind her while some of the students take a peek through the door's window then a sound, it was the balloon, she popped it with a needle and the colts and fillies sighed in disappointment.
The short fame of the balloon was big in the school as it was spread quickly through the school. Within few days, most of the young fillies and colt forgot the existence of this poor Alex.
The science teacher asks her students to blow balloons for their little experiments. They attach light blue strings to the bottom of their balloons and the teacher asks them to follow the instructions of the first experiment.
The first experiment was to team up with someone and they rub the two balloons on their hair then they place the balloons near each other and see that the balloons were repelling each other. But one of the colts wasn't able to do it, because he
didn't had any teammates, he only had few friends which were in another class and when he attempt to rub the balloon, nothing would happen and his purple hair would get stuck all over the balloon. He was one of the smallest colts in the class and he was weak which caused people to bully him so he remained with his few friends and isolated himself for most of the time. Even though he tried to report it to the teachers, they did nothing so he remained lonely but his only friends was not in his class today.
The second experiment was to rub the balloon once again on their hair and then stick it on the wall, it was a pretty entertaining experiment as everyone had their mind blown away, but in the same time, they were goofing around with their new discovery.
Once the experiment was done, the lone colt drew a face on his blue balloon and has given a name to the balloon, Bob. Other unique balloons were given birth but compared to his balloon, they were noticed. The first one was the Orange Banana which was an orange balloon with the obvious shape of a banana. The other one was Arthur, a white balloon with the appearance of the character in the TV show known as Arthur, with the glasses and the ears.
There were only 5 minutes before class ends and the teacher ask everyone to blow up their balloon.
The lone colt slowly walks to make sure to be careful with his balloon but suddenly, a colt ran toward him and-
"Pop!”
He stabbed the balloon with his pencil. The other colt felt like he was about to cry but he stayed strong till the end of the day. Orange Banana and Arthur were the lasts balloons still alive and they remained in class. The orange balloon remained glued to the wall while Arthur was placed on the shoulder of the skeleton anatomy model in the class. Then once all of the balloons except for the 2 mascots are popped, the bell rang and school ends as the lone colt heads home.
The colt arrived home and headed toward his bedroom to do his homework. While doing his homework, he thought about making a new one, but he won't be able to bring it at school because of what happened last year with another balloon mascot. The colt heads toward the kitchen and open a drawer to find a bag of balloons. The youth picks up a red one and blows into it to attach a white string at the bottom of it. Finally, the adolescent ran to his bedroom to come back with a black marker to draw a face on his new red balloon.
The next day, he noticed that the orange balloon disappeared and he assumes that the balloon didn't last for the whole day like he thought it would.
The only balloon remaining is the lovely white balloon but after few days, it falls off the shoulder of the model he has been standing on for 3 days and now lays on the counter. Arthur has been forgotten by the ponies that have been in this classroom and remain near the desk of the lone colt.
Few weeks has passed and then he noticed that the balloon was gone, no traces of it at sight. Like Orange Banana, Arthur was probably taken by the teacher and...
"Pop!"
The purple haired colt turns around and sees the science teacher with a needle and the remains of the white balloon lying down on the floor of the decently large class.
At the end of class, the last bell of the day rang and he rushed to his locker. He heads out of school with few friends which he discusses with and then the colt heads home. Once there, he takes his red balloon and rub it quickly against his light blue fur. He takes a quick glare at his balloon and places it on the wall where it would stick. He takes a deep breath and names the red balloon, Larry. He steps away from the wall and hopes for a brighter future.
The young colt mentioned that this day might be the end of the legacy of those balloons he used to love but it will also be the day where he will attempt to fight his anxiety for a brighter future.
After a while, he had more friends than he used to have because he stayed true to his words and actually went out of his shell and explored the real world. But in the end, he will always keep his habit and remain connected with the virtual world.
