Something From Nightmares

A crude figure which I could only describe as a minotaur by just it’s anatomy alone, though that’s where my knowledge of this creature goes. It was far to thin and gaunt to be a minotaur. Where I could only assume to be its head was obscured by this metal spike ring surrounding majority of the figures head and the most unsettling thing that made me and the girls shiver in our hoofs was it’s sinister mouth spouting this fixed grin far to possible to be normal.

The outfit it sported looked to be some vinyl like material hugging its body along with strips and buckles littered from top to bottom. I was doing everything in my power to stop myself from shivering in fear at this possibly new threat I might have summoned for aid.

There was something to far off about this creature in which I could not place my mind on why it scared me so much. I mean I’ve faced “Nightmare Moon, Sombra, Chrysalis, Discord, and Tirek for celestia sake.” But here I stand without any ounce of bravery; Instead all I wanted to do was turn tail and run.

It felt like the rooms atmosphere was becoming heavier and harder to breath. Once it final crossed over from the portal I could finally gasp the creature entirely. Everything about the creature screamed terror relaying many unknowns of what it could do at a moments notice if you dare look away.

I stood like a statue trying my hardest to move a muscle to make an impression on this creature, but instead it made the first move heading toward my direction. Starting to shiver in fear of what it might do I suddenly seen ‘Rainbow’ appear in a fighting stance ready to strike the creature. The creature hardly seemed fazed by her action and instead sidestepped her.

Suddenly all to quickly I seen ‘Rainbow’ ready to deck the creature before out of nowhere it swiped to the side grabbed her hoof then quickly used it’s other claw to grip her neck. In an instant it slammed ‘Rainbow’ into the marble floor leaving cracks embedded in the marvel. Still set on me it hardly missed a beat.

The girls tried to intervene, but each met a similar fate by its claws. Not long it stood before me. The creatures height far exceed the princess’s to the point I fell flat on my tush to even look up at its face. I whimpered in fear slowly stumbling over my words to even get anything out, but all that escaped was giprishh. Soon after the creature pulled out a scroll tossing it toward my hoofs.

I struggled with the scroll in my hoofs until I opened it up to be met with strange symbols in which I couldn’t process until I was about to question the creature about it something happened with the symbols rearranging themselves into letters I could understand. Finally after the last of them finished I was able to read the scroll.

“Greetings, Twilight Sparkle.
I heeded your calling for aid against an enemy you currently face dubbed ‘Sombra’ and you require from the one to heed your summoning to kill this figure along with his army in order to survive your current predicament.

I am willing to accept your request in exchange for my services though what you offered is hardly worth of value in exchange. So I say to you what are you willing to offer to guarantee you and your followers survival or else I may just leave you to your demise.”

….

Such a high price your willing to part with is almost morally wrong, but I find your choice almost amusing. In the end you offered something that intrigues me; so this bat will indeed fulfill his part. My title I go by hardly matters anymore though if you must call me by anything you may call me ‘The bat who laughs.’ Now show me this pest you need erased.”

I exhaled a breath I hardly knew I was holding before guiding ‘The bat who laughs’ through the halls leading toward the scenery of sombra’s troops standing at hoofs ready to storm the castle. When we finally reached the outlook I was taken back at how the bat seemed hardly fazed by the sere number and how he looked ahead not bothering to take a glance around his scenery though he seemed to not miss a beat. If anything about what luna has taught me it is never underestimate your opponent.

Never have those words rang more true, then at this moment. Even with my limited experience I could tell that this creature was a cold calculating psychopath with no strings attached. The moment he stepped through the portal then started heading toward me did I see a small glimpse at what he could truly do with the way he handled my friends charging at him.

He so easily wiped the floor with each of them even the stare that fluttershy used was useless along with countering pinkie’s pinkie ness which is impossible to predict, but here he proved how wrong that concept was. Just by those alone I could tell he was a force to be trifled with; If he merely felt like it he would have killed us in a blink of an eye. Glad to say he didn’t...though I wouldn’t want to know what he could’ve done if he was serious.

“What a small army this ‘sombra,’ figure has that it’s almost laughable and here I thought this was going to be something that would entertain my dull amusement. Hopefully he puts up a long enough fight to fill my cravings or else this will be a drawn out slaughter for them. At the end of it all their screams shall fill the sky asking for their undying end.”

“Now, twilight sparkle wouldn’t it be to much to ask if you would have a alchemyst lab in this utter hellhole for I am a little short on supplies that I would require in achieving what I seek; If not then I’ll just have to utilize rather more brutal tactics to thin the horde.”

Is he serious? Like really! He think ‘sombra’s’ army is a mere joke. This is the pony who has conquered almost all equestria and yet the ‘bat who laughs’ thinks he’s just some low life. Wait...was he saying something? Alchemyst lab. Yeah we do have one near the observatory just up another floor. Why do you ask?

“Just a few concoction to create/prepare before confronting this figure and I’ll say it’ll be quite the show; They’ll just be dying to see, Hahahahaha. Be sure to keep him occupied in the meantime. Now if you’ll excuse me I have some work that needs to be done.”

Wait! we hardly have the means to even protect the castle doors...Well this is just great the help I summoned is not even doing what he is required and the closer sombra’s army approaches. There's nothing more I can do; We are spread thin as it is. The only hope for survival at this point is on him.

Enough of this depressing mindset, twilight. There is still hope in making it out of this if the ‘bat who laughs’ can do what is required in handling the enemy, but what are the chances he can even take on an army just by himself alone. For All I know he is just shooting the crap.

We need to buy time for whatever it is he is doing though. So as much as it pains me to use the last of our troops we have no other alternative expect fight till the end. Hopefully we make it out alive and my friends will understand my decisions when they come to.
