The Life and Secrets of Blossomforth
I am waken up in the same manner as always; the sweet chirping of an alarm clock. My hoof finds its way towards the amazing, beeping device, and with no care or gusto, slams down on the top button. Silence resounds through the room, and I curl back under the warmth of the covers, thankful I have them to keep the autumn cool out. Next to me, I feel Cloud Kicker stir, and I reach a hoof out instinctively to find her when my mind jumps.
Why in Tartarus is she in my bed?
My hooves are flailing now, several of them hitting her before I calm down, crawling to her side to check on her. Without warning, she rolls over to face me, her eyes seductive and teasing.
"And how are you today?" she asks, her voice smooth and more seductive than even her eyes. I blush, letting out a small 'eep' before ducking away from her, crawling back under the covers and curling into a very small, tight ball. The bed creaks a bit, and I feel it raise as she gets out of bed, probably heading towards the bathroom.
With a burst of adrenaline, I jump out of bed too, running to the bathroom down the hall. She looks at me, bewildered, for just a moment before taking off too. I run in, slamming the door shut and locking it just in time to hear her comically crash into it. Snickering, I begin preparing for the day. Brushing my mane, using the loo, washing my face, even preening my wings. Half an hour later, I open the door and see her splayed out across it, flattened as if she was a pancake. I raise a hoof to stifle my giggles, but soon drop it, full out guffawing at her ridiculous position.
I'm so busy laughing I don't realize she peeled herself from the door until it's too late. I feel her warm hooves caressing my coat just moments before my laughter increases ten times in volume.
"S-stop! C-can't bre-breathe!" I exclaim, but she refuses to let up until I end up kicking her in the face. Redness rises to her cheek, and I'm quickly on my hooves, darting towards her once again. I lean in to hug her, but am taken by surprise when she tackles me. Standing over me, she leans her muzzle in, mere inches away from my own.
"Hey there," she says in a low, calm voice, and I 'eep' again, shying away from her no matter how many times I've dreamed of this happening. "What? Don't want me to do... this?" she asks, carefully nuzzling my neck.
"No!" I shriek, but she simply smiles.
"Are you sure?"
My blush is probably coating my whole body by now, turning my white pelt into an awkward reddish-pink. Am I sure? No. No. I'm not. The realization hits me like a ton of bricks, and I slowly turn to face her, my eyes filled with question. She blinks, staring at me. She didn't expect me to say no. She didn't expect me to want... her. I raise my hooves to her neck, embracing her in another hug, but this one is different. Her eyes are filled with questions, but I ignore them, shutting my own eyes as my muzzle leans in to touch hers and...
Hits air. My hooves reach for her, then my eyes fly open. She's moved several hooves away, near the kitchen. I begin to approach her, and she scuttles backwards.
"Cl-," I begin, but she's out the door. I see her run past the window, her wings unfurled, and she takes to the skies. I plop back down on the ground, staring at the door confusedly. Wasn't this what she had always wanted? I blink, and sit there, my wings tight to my sides for at least an hour, until my stomach's rumbling becomes unbearable, and I stand robotically, walking to the kitchen.
I stick my muzzle into the cereal cupboard and grab a box at random, burying my mouth in it and eating straight from the box. I ignore the food I spill and how sticky my muzzle is, just eating. When I finish the box of cereal, I move to the fridge, drinking glass after glass of lemonade until the jug is empty. From there, I collapse onto the floor, falling asleep.
I wake up a few hours later, laying in my bed. Somepony must've cleaned the lemonade and cereal from my muzzle, but who, I'm not sure. I lay there a bit longer, enjoying the comfort of a soft bed under me. Finally opening my eyes, I look around blurrily, blinking my eyes rapidly to clear the gunk from them. I roll over to my back, stretching my wings out, then look straight above me. And scream.
"Hush, hush," whispered Cloud Kicker, gently brushing my mane with a hoof. I recoil from her, and I see the hurt etched across her face. I feel so bad, but at the same time, so mad at her. She just left me. "It's okay," she whispers, though whether she's speaking to me or herself I'm not sure. I let her stroke my mane, and we sit there that way, until I finally turn to her.
"Why?" I ask, and she blinks, tilting her head slightly.
"All you want is to... y'know..."
"Bang?" she suggests, and the mere word brings a light blush to my cheeks.
"Yeah. That. So why would a kiss put you off?"
"Y-you know me, Blossom. I'm not one to settle down, to be tied to somepony. And you of all ponies! The one who can't even say 'bang' without blushing! You tried to kiss me!" she's right, and I know it.
"Haven't you noticed, Kicker? I've always liked you. You were just too dense to notice," I add with a chuckle, and now she's the one blushing.
"I'm sorry, Blossom. But I just can't be with you. Friends?" she offers, and I nod, smiling at her.
"Friends," I agree. For now.
I look out the window, and I'm shocked to see the sun is already on its way to setting, approaching four o'clock or so. Just as I look to check the time, I hear a knock on the door. Yawning, I open it, and am shocked to see the boss' friend, Pinkie Pie.
"Hay there Blossomforth! I'm here to invite you and Cloud Kicker to Pinkie's Party-Palooza! It'll be the biggest of the biggest party of all times, and I'm going to make the biggest cupcake there too! The party's tonight, and I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner but I had to tell everypony in Equestria and even with Dashie dropping flyers everywhere and Princess Luna's magic loud voice I couldn't tell eeeeverypony, so here I am!"
Um. Okay then, Pinkie. "That sounds great, Pinks! I'll see you tonight, and Cloud Kicker will be there too. Bye!"
"Bye!" she cheers, and I smile, shutting the door behind her as she leaves. Walking back towards the house, I see Cloud Kicker staring at me questioningly, and I sigh. "Pinkie party," I say, and she nods. Pinkie party. The two words that can explain anything. If not those, than 'Pinkie Pie' can. We share a small laugh, then she heads towards the kitchen, probably to prepare some sort of early dinner. I head past her, to the library.
Our personal one, not the one for everypony. Though mine isn't as extensive, it has books that interest me. Or Cloud Kicker's disgusting magazines. I pass the magazine racks and scoop up a small, well loved book. It's called 'The Family Reunion'. Sounds cheesy, and the contents are cheesier, but I love the book. Growing up without a family and living on your own for a few years gives you a soft spot for that stuff.
I curl up on the small sofa we have and open the book. Within minutes, I'm fully engrossed in it. How cheesy. Engrossed in a book made for foals. I'm an educated mare! I have a garden, not a toy box!
Either way, I can't deny the book is good. I'm snapped from my reading by Cloud Kicker, gently patting me on the shoulder. She seems subdued. Strange.
"Dinner's ready," she smiles, and I stand up, stretching my stiffened wings tiredly.
