Chapter 1: Before The Banishment
Once upon a time, in the land of Equestria ruled two sisters who had control over the sun and moon. These sisters loved one another dearly, so much so that they would do nearly everything together from galloping through the gardens to flying through the clouds or even just reading. Now, you may be asking yourself ‘who are these sisters?’ well my friends that would be none other then Princess Celestia and Princess Luna who control the sun and the moon respectfully to their names. Of course, not everything was a happy ending, while they had their disputes growing up and slowly grew away from one another something inside of Luna snapped, it was the last straw for the younger princess and she plunged Equestria into eternal night. Before I get there however I’d like to tell you about what got her to this state, of course I know your now asking yourself ‘how would you know? Isn’t that tail as old as time?’, my response to that question is of course it is, however there are things out there that have lived far longer then either princess but that’s a story for a later date. Let’s get moving along-now, shall we? Good.
This story begins long, long ago. In a time where the world was in peace and harmony. That is, at least what it looked like on the outside of the castle, the inside was currently complete chaos. But don’t take my word for it, just go ahead and see for yourself.
Third Person Point of View:
Luna had just gotten done yelling at her sister again and was laying on the ground crying in her room, she hated this, the fact that everyone praised and worshipped her sister’s Sun and day while her night and moon were shunned and treated like outcasts or monsters. Yes, although it was true she had some followers whom appreciated her night it wasn’t enough, she wished to see children play and prance around, wanted to see people throw parties and have fun however they saved all of that for the day and locked themselves away during her night. Having had enough of this she began to formulate a plan to help her rule so that people would be forced to enjoy her night.
Luna’s Point of View:
Luna sighs softly as she speaks to herself “I am sorry dear sister, please know that I love you, but you have abandoned your love for me, if our subjects wish to not only cast my night aside but also steal you away from me then so be it. I shall cast the world into eternal night.” She muttered to herself as she began to trot elegantly to the library and began walking to the forbidden section, once there she looked through the curse section before finding the correct book.
“Aha! Here you are… your going to help me make the other’s see that the night isn’t to be trampled on!” She stated in a mix between a whisper and a yell. Once she put the book into a saddle bag she brought with her she began to carefully trot back to her room so that she could complete this ritual in piece without disturbing her sleeping sister who was blissfully unaware from what was about to occur. As she was making her way to her room she began to sing softly to herself while looking through the windows at her wondrous night.

Once inside her room with the door closed and locked, along with the blinds folded closed and the windows shut she sighed in relief before beginning to read through the book for the curse she was looking for. Once found she had a sinister grin spread across her face as she evilly laughed while speaking in her nightmare moon tone of voice which sounded more mature and rather cryptic “I will have the recognition I have… one way, or ANOTHER!” She said her voice booming as she began turning into nightmare moon, laughing evilly even as she was crying as she somehow knew on a small, instinctual level that she wouldn’t win this. However, if the people were going to fear her night then she was going to give them a reason to as the beautiful black sky became a dull, rusty brown while the moon went from a crescent to being full once again while dark thunderous clouds rolled in as lightning and thunder crackled down to warn others that something evil has come.
Celestia’s Person Point of View:
Celestia heard the thunder and lightning as it rattled against her windows along with the powerful wind, waking up quickly she peeked outside having known for a fact that a storm wasn’t supposed to happen for quite a few more days and what she saw saddened her. There, hovering up in the sky being back-lit by the moonlight was her sister, consumed by her desire to be worshipped and not stay in the shadows as she spoke softly in a sad tone “Oh Lulu, where ever did we go wrong?” She asked as a few tears slipped out of her eyes, she knew it would have come down to this when she ignored her sister’s cries of anguish instead of comforting her like she was supposed to, no one else could be blamed besides Celestia however at the moment that didn’t matter. What currently mattered most was taking care of her mistakes and making sure that she could right her wrongs, one way… or another.
Quickly she left her room to gather the elements of harmony, they might possibly be the only thing that could save equestrian from eternal darkness, so she had no other choice. She put on a stoic face and left to negotiate with her sister, however, she had a sinking feeling it wouldn’t end well.
