Chapters Chapter 1: Dreams of Chaos
"Finally, I'm home." I thought to myself, slamming the door behind me, and hanging my jacket up on a hook. It had been a long day at work, and I was just about ready to hit the sack, but right as I started to head upstairs I felt my stomach rumbling, so I went into the kitchen, and heated up some leftovers. I finished my food, and set the plate down in the pile of dirty dishes. "Ugh, I guess that can wait until morning..." I said, flicking the lights off, and heading upstairs. Lazily I changed into my usual nightwear of a T-shirt and boxers, and flicked the light off. I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow.
“Come... join meeee... you can’t resist...”
Those words bounced around my head for a few moments as my vision cleared up and I saw a thick black mist surrounding me. “Hello?” I said, nervously into the darkness. A dim light appeared in the distance, so with nowhere else to go I headed towards it. No matter how far I walked I didn’t seem to get any closer to the light. Just when I was about to stop the light sped toward me, growing in intensity and size, until it was merely feet away, when I saw a blinding flash of light, and was knocked backwards. As my vision and the mist cleared I saw I was in a clearing in an orchard, with a mysterious figure in front of me. I stood up, and saw the creature in front of me in it’s fullest, it was taller than me, about seven or eight feet tall, with mismatched bat and bird wings, a deer antler, and a strange, crooked horn, long feathery body with a scaly tail, and scruffy, horse-like neck, an eagle talon and feline arm, and lastly, a set of goat and lizard legs. I stood there, mouth-agape, marveling at this hideous monstrosity. I slowly started to back away, but paused when it started talking to me.
“Why hello there, I am Discord, ruler of all things chaotic. I intend to wreak havoc across this... perfect land.” It said with a sneer. “Of all the creatures I’ve seen in my thousands of years here, YOU have the greatest aptitude for chaos, yet you squander it! Why live in such a perfect world when there’s chaos to be had, havoc to be wreaked, and innocent lives waiting to be ruined?”
I continued to stand there, speechless, and unsure how to react. “But, b-” I was cut short when the monster’s eyes started glowing, and captivating me, forming a dark cloud in my thoughts. I started to become interested in his proposal, and thinking about how much fun I could have wreaking havoc across the land. I looked deeper into his eyes, but after a few moments I looked away, shaking my head and clearing away those ideas. “No.” I thought, wondering what the hell I was thinking. Even being in a place as odd as this I knew what was right and wrong.
“So what do you say? Want to rule with m-” I cut him off, in a smooth, calm tone.
“Nope.” I said, causing him to furrow his brow. I stood up straighter, and made direct eye contact, staring him down. The so-called “Discord” frowned at me, and tutted.
“Such potential... wasted.” And at that moment he struck me hard, raising his paw, and slashing me across the face. I was knocked flat on my ass, head ringing from the intense blow. I shook my head, and looked up, to see him with his talon pulled back, ready to hit me again. He swiped his claws, but I rolled to the side just in time to dodge the attack, and I jumped to my feet. He quickly turned around when I swung and hit him hard in the face with a left hook, catching him by surprise. He quickly spun around and slashed me across the chest, leaving a tear in my shirt, and drawing blood. I hurled myself at him, bringing him to the ground where I furiously pummeled his face as hard as I could, but stopped when I felt a firm grasp around my throat, and was lifted into the air.
“You miserable shit... I’d expect to be treated better than this...” he hissed. I felt his grasp tighten, as I frantically grabbed his arm, trying to get him to let go. Right as I felt myself go limp, and my vision started to fail I was hurled in some odd direction, where I hit the ground hard, rolled, and slammed into a tree. I was in utter pain, gasping for air, a sharp pain in my side where I heard a crack or two on impact, and my head was pounding. I felt dizzy, and everything started to melt around me into a silent, calm darkness.
“What is it?”
“I don’t know sweetie, let’s get it inside, it seems pretty banged up.”
“Is he awake? I saw his eyes move a bi-”
“Hold on! We’re losin’ him!”
I drifted in and out of consciousness, and all I remembered was being moved... somewhere, and a few voices, but aside from that it was all blackness and pain. After what seemed like weeks I finally came to, and found myself on a bed, covered in an abundance of blankets and bandages. I looked around the room, and saw that it was a plain, country style house, with the morning sun shining through the large window across the room from me, illuminating the pink wallpaper, dotted with cherries, and the old, faded photos framed on the walls. Next to me was a nightstand, with nothing on it but a roll of bandages, and a porcelain lamp. I tried sitting up, but was met with a sharp pain in my side, and let out a little yelp, assuring myself this was no dream. I heard rushing clip-clop footsteps, similar to what you’d hear from high heels, and a sweet, sing-song voice with a clear hint of a southern accent, called “Coming, coming!” I looked over to see a woman with dark red hair, a beauty mark and- Wait, this wasn’t a woman, I rubbed my eyes and looked closer to see it was a small creature with a small, four legged body, and long flowing red mane walk in with a smile on her face, and a tray of food on her back. I layed there, speechless and in awe of the little... pony. She was the look on my face and smiled. After setting the tray of pancakes, eggs, strange tan bacon strips, and juice down on a nearby table she started talking.
“Well I reckon this is a might bit confusing for ya, ain't it?” I nodded. “Well, you eat up, then I’ll go on and do some explainin’.” She finished and, ran, or galloped rather, out of the room. I was at a loss for words, and my stomach was rumbling, so I decided to eat up. Breakfast was great, the pancakes were soft and buttery, the eggs were warm and scrambled, but the “bacon” was strange, tasting more like toast than bacon, and the jelly was absolutely divine, thick and gooey, but sweet and tangy. Cherries, those seemed to be in everything, the jelly, the pancakes, and even the juice was made of- you guessed it, cherries. Just as I was finishing up, she walked into the room, with a bag on her back, and a smile on her face.
“Good idn’t it? Everything made fresh, from mah crops here on the farm. Why, I’ve been working on this farm since ah was just a little filly.” She said, staring out the window, reminiscing. With a sigh she trotted over to me, letting out a sigh. “Where are my manners, I’m Cherry Jubilee, owner of these orchards,” she explained, gesturing towards the seemingly endless pink treetops. “A farmhand of mine found you in one of the open areas we have for gathering cherries and such. You were in mighty bad condition, but still kickin’’, so we brought you up to the house. Ah’m no nurse, but I reckon I did a pretty good job bandagin’ you up, tell me if anything hurts, okay sugar?” I stared at her for a few seconds, trying to understand the situation, when she piped “You sure as shoot ain’t like any ponyfolk around these parts, what are you?”
“Erm, I’m a human,” I stammered “Excuse me if I’m a bit shaken up, the past... how long has it been since you found me?”
“About two weeks, judgin’ by the wounds and amount of blood you lost you’d only been out there for a few hours. Any longer and we woulda lost you.” She explained, shaking her head.
“Wow it seems like just yesterday...” I said, but was interrupted , when she sat on the bed next to me. I felt her warm, slender body pressing against mine through the blanket, relishing every curve and taking note of how soft she was near her... flanks? She wasn’t plump or anything, but she had curves, and was oddly human. I slowly looked over her form, trying not to stare, yet still taking in her light tan coat, beautiful and flowing crimson hair, with streaks of light red in it, and ending in an equally attractive tail, sprouting from her flanks, both of which had cherries displayed on them. I panicked a bit when I realized I stopped talking, and blushed when she giggled at me, hoping she wasn’t offended, or thought less of me. I sat up a bit straighter, and continued.
“I lived a simple life, I went to work, payed the bills, but beyond that, nothing interesting really happened. I got home from work, and I was really, really tired, so I just threw together something to eat, and went straight to sleep. After that I remember this dark, shapeless mist surrounding me, and I wasn’t sure where I was. I noticed a light in the dense blackness, and followed it, since I had nowhere else to go... I caught up to it, and the fog cleared, and I remember being in a clearing, surrounded by trees. In front of me was a weird creature, a bit taller than me, with a body made up of all sorts of different parts, from different animals. It started talking about chaos, and me ruling... something, with it. His eyes started glowing, and I felt strange, like I was losing control of my mind, but I shook away the feeling and told him no. He slashed me with one of his claws, then I hit him as hard as I could in the face. We fought for a little while, then he grabbed me by the throat, threw me, and I blacked out. I could’ve sworn he said his name, but when I try to remember, everything goes by too fast.”
Her eyes went wide, and she cleared her throat. “Discord. The creature you described was chaos himself, ruler of all things evil. I knew you must have a strange story to tell but I never coulda’ guessed...” She said, looking down, shaking her head and letting out a sigh. “I oughta write to Princess Celestia about all this commotion, she’ll know what to do. In the meantime I’ve got a few books for you that might help you make your way around here until it all gets sorted out.” She hopped off the bed, and walked out the door, before returning a few minutes later with a saddle bag on her back, loaded with books. “I’m pretty sure you can read Equestrian, being as I’ve seen it written all over your clothes.” She said, pulling out a few books, titled “Pony Anatomy for Foals,” “History of Equestria,” “Magic and Marvels of Equestria,” and “A Foal’s Guide to Grammar.”
“Those wounds look mighty bad, so since you’ll be bedridden for a while, you might as well read up. I’ve got a lotta free time from day to day, so if you ever need anything just holler, okay sweetie?”
“Yes ma’am.” I replied, pleasantly surprised with her southern hospitality. She smiled, and trotted off, humming to herself with that sweet and smooth as honey voice.
Memories flashed back to me, from that fateful night. The fear and confusion of meeting the Draconequis, and the pain from my injuries were so vivid, it felt real. Soon those faded away, and I remembered the motherly nurturing of Cherry Jubilee, and her soft figure, huddled against me. I pictured her, laying next to me, with that lovely smile of hers, but everything got dark, and all I could see wash her sitting there, smiling back at me. Slowly I saw tendrils of darkness engulfing her figure, taking her away. I started shouting, begging for her to come back, bartering my very soul, when I woke up, in a cold sweat. I sat up in bed, wincing a bit at the pain in my midsection, which had gotten much better but still hindered my movement. I rubbed my eyes and looked around the room, to see Cherry Jubilee, and a tall, white, oddly familiar mare standing at my bedside. She had a flowing mane, that didn’t seem solid, but more like liquid light, flowing, even in absence of wind, a golden crown, and a gleaming sun cutie mark. I suddenly realized that the pony in front of me was none other than Princess Celestia herself. I sputtered, and tried to react, but only managed to say
“Y-y-your majesty!”
She smiled and cleared her throat. “Well, I see you’ve spent your time wisely” She said, gesturing towards the pile of books on a nearby table. “I came here as soon as I could, right after raising the sun. Now, I know above all, you’d want to return home right?”
I sat there and stared, mouth agape for a few seconds before quickly nodding my head.
“Well... I’m afraid there have been some... difficulties, and for the time being we...” She let out a solemn sigh, sad that she had to deliver such news. “Can’t send you back. The only magical being who could bring you here was Discord, and even a spell like that still weakened Discord’s powers vastly. I’ve had my highest group of scholars researching the topic to no avail, so for the time being you’ll have to remain here...in Equestria.” She finished, pausing at the last part. I felt a ball of ice form in my chest, as her words settled in my mind. As I felt tears welling up in my eyes I looked over from her to Cherry Jubilee, who had a sad look on her face, and walked over to me. She wrapped her forelegs around my neck, and gently patted my back, whispering in my ear
“Shhhh, shhhh, it’s okay sugarcube...”
Her sugar sweet, honey smooth voice lessened the depression, and I blinked the tears out of my eyes, sobbing gently into her shoulder. Princess Celestia looked down at the floor with a frown, before she let out a sigh, and raised her glowing horn. I felt a warm, tingly sensation as the bandages around my chest started glowing with a golden aura and fading away. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the princess, who’s horn was pointed towards me.
“This is the least I can do, considering the circumstances.” She insisted, lifting her head up, and looking at me with a smile on her face. “Your wounds and injuries are healed, and you should only feel a bit of soreness or stiffness.”
“Thank you, your majesty.” I said, clearing my throat, and wiping the salty tears from my eyes and cheeks.
“You’re very welcome, if you ever need anything, just send me a letter. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got some royal duties to attend to in Canterlot.” She finished. I nodded, looking over Cherry Jubilee’s shoulder as she disappeared in a flash of light, leaving the room in complete silence. Gently unwrapping her forelegs from my neck, Cherry Jubilee stepped back from the bed, grinning at me started to say
“Well, how ‘bout we get you outta bed and I give you the grand tour?”
“Sure!” I exclaimed, absent-mindedly lifting the blanket and throwing my legs over the side.
“Erm, I, uh...”
She giggled and shook her head “Oh sweetie, it’s quite alright, most ponies don’t even wear clothes! If you really want I can get you some overalls from downstairs, they seem like they’d fit you just fine.”
She returned a few minutes later with a few various sizes of faded, worn, light blue denim overalls, which were essentially the same as ones on earth, except for the angled midsection, and hole in the back for a tail. I tried a few pairs on, telling her which fit the closest, and where they needed to be re-stitched. I cracked the door open enough to stick my head through and saw her waiting patiently, humming to herself. I handed her the clothes, and she quickly got to work on her sewing machine, the gentle “clack clack clack” of her working echoed through the house, while I explored my room, glad I could walk again. I walked over to a desk, with a small reading light, a quill, and a few rolls of parchment on it. Quietly I unraveled one and started to read it, wondering what Cherry Jubilee wrote while I was injured.
The most interesting thing happened today, one of my farmhands was out in the field and stumbled upon a strange creature, quite different from a pony, but in an odd way, quite similar. It must’ve taken a nasty spill, after looking at the wounds and bruises all over it’s body. Most of them seem like deep cuts, probably from some animal. I should probably go and check on... him.
Well, I bandaged it up as well as I could, and it mumbled something, clearly he speaks Equestrian, but where did he come from? I guess time will tell.
He finally woke up! He seemed really confused, and after talking he told me he’s from a strange place called “Earth” and is a “human” or whatever that is.
I smiled as I skimmed the entries, remembering the conversations we had, and how she had comforted me, not exactly in a motherly manner, but somehow... closer. I stopped when I found a recent entry, from just this morning.
These past few weeks have been pleasant, I’ve been talking to him about Equestria and ponyfolk, and he seems to be catching up. “Well sugar, I fixed these up, and they should fit you just right!” She exclaimed, as I took the overalls from her mouth. I put them on, while her words echoed through my head
“Alright, so how ‘bout I show you around the farm?” She asked.
“Sure!” I said, nervously suppressing any thoughts about the notes I read.
I followed her down the stairs, where she showed me the living room, a quaint little area with a few chairs and couches, all of which had cushions emblazoned with crimson cherries. The furniture was facing towards a brick fireplace, that had a mantle covered with family photos and antiques, but soon my gaze fell to one piece of furniture tucked away in a corner near the fireplace

She must have noticed me staring at it, when she tittered and said “Here, let’s grab something to eat, then I’ll show you the orchards!” I blushed and followed her into the biggest room of the house, the kitchen. There was a table in the corner, covered in a plain red and white checkered tablecloth, right next to the open window, which let in the warm, calming breeze that flowed through the hills. Across the room was a large stove, and a series of cabinets and shelves, all filled with boxes, jars, and bags. She trotted over to them and stood up on her hind legs, reaching for a loaf of bread, which was just out of her reach. As she struggled to reach it I saw her body in full view, which was surprisingly similar to a human girl’s body, she had curves from her chest to her... flanks. They were nice and toned, but not boney, and flexed as she strained and stretched. I shook my head, waving away any thoughts and calmly walked over, placing a hand on her back and saying “Here, let me help you.” I felt her skin quiver at my touch as I reached up, and pulled the loaf down. “My my, what a gentlecolt!” She said, batting her eyelashes.
She whipped up a few daisy sandwiches, which were crisp and had a taste similar to lettuce, but sweeter and with a hint of butter. After finishing up the meal I put our plates in the sink, and thanked her “Wow, that was delicious, thank you Miss Jubilee.”
“Oh it’s nothing dear, now how ‘bout I show you the orchards?” She said, walking to the back door and looking at me over her shoulder. I nodded and followed her outside into the wide rolling orchards. As soon as I stepped out the door I felt the cool breeze blowing across the pink treetops, carrying the sweet smell of cherries with it. We walked for a few silent minutes to a large hill overlooking the whole orchard, with a lone cherry tree on top of it. We both walked up the steady incline where we paused at the breathtaking view. “Miss Jubilee... this is amazing.”
“Yup, my great grandfather started this orchard almost a hundred years ago...” She whispered, eyes staring dreamily into the distance. Slowly walking over to the tree she looked it over, and continued speaking. “My daddy ‘nd I used to watch the sunset from here before he passed... I planted this tree here in his honor. Everyday since then I’ve came here, watered it, and made sure everything was just right.”
I speechlessly stood next to her, studying the large thick trunk and bright leaves. It wasn’t much taller than the other trees, but its bark was a dark brown, slightly red shade, and its leaves were a much more vibrant pink that set it apart from the rest of the orchard. Its branches were dotted with small red fruit, gleaming in the last of Celestia’s light. I turned my gaze to Cherry Jubilee turning around and lightly bucking the tree, causing a handful of cherries to fall to the soft, luscious grass. She calmly sat herself down, leaning against the tree trunk. Gesturing towards the cherries she commented “You’re welcome to try some.” I picked all of them up, dusting them off with my shirt before sitting down next to her, trying not to get uncomfortably close. The pain of leaving home, most likely for forever, would be unbearable, but your generosity and kindness has shown me this is a wondrous place, and I plan to embrace it.” I said, staring into her gleaming green eyes.
Cherry’s eyes began to water, and without saying anything, she gently planted a kiss on my lips. “I don’t know, but let’s get it inside!”

I quickly looked around searching for the evil Draconequis, I was met with only darkness, and the dim light of the starry night sky. I let out a deep sigh and felt a warm soft figure next to me stirring. Looking down I saw Cherry Jubilee’s head resting on my chest, eyes shut as her chest rose and dropped gently. I stroked her mane slowly, making her smile, and causing her ears to twitch slightly, but not waking her up.
