The Princess, the Throat and a human Thu'um

Previous Chapter

Delphine heard the noise as she popped into the room, Twilight got off the bed as she handed the parchments that we've found. This caused Delphine's eyes to light up.

"Esbern's alive?", she looked at us. "A member of the Blades, if he is alive we have to". As she was about to say that, she cut herself off. "No, you've already done enough plus I can't ask you to look for him knowing the city the Thalmor think he's in. Riften is a dangerous city and you seven would stand out as a big target to any potential opponent. Thief, Thalmor or anyone else". She turned towards the door, "I'll deal with this one. If by any luck, we'll meet again Dragonborn. Until then, safe travels to you and your companions". With that, she left the room and the Inn.

Applejack was about to get into my pants before Twilight's horn started glowing.

"Hold on girls," Twilight said as she closed her eyes. "Looks like Princess Celestia requires our presence".

Applejack let out an audible groan before placing one last kiss on my crotch, "Consider this something to look forwards to later Sugar" she said as we both got off the bed. Twilight gave Applejack time to put on her clothes. Once fully dressed, Twilight closed her eyes as her horn glowed again. After a few seconds, the princess who was with them when they first arrived in Skyrim appeared in front of us.

"Greeting Everypony, Dragonborn," she said upon her arrival. "Please, gather around me. I have someone you need to meet".

We all stood in a circle around her before her horn glowed and in a flash, we were now standing upon a snowy mountain. The scenery looked familiar yet different. It was like we were on the mountain where High Hrothgar was but.

At this point, a dragon started to appear. The princess held out her arm to signal to us not to attack. The girls all stood there but I felt like the dragon was calling to me.

The dragon spoke. "Drem Yol Lok. Greetings, wunduniik. I am Paarthurnax. Who are you? What brings you to my strunmah... my mountain?".

I looked upon the dragon, only one response was on my lips. "I think you already know who I am," I said.

"Yes. Vahzah. You speak true, Dovahkiin. Forgive me. It has been long since I held tinvaak with a stranger. I gave in to the temptation to prolong our speech". This led me to ask why he lives alone on the mountain if he loves conversation. "Evenaar bahlok. There are many hungers it is better to deny than to feed. Dreh ni nahkip. Discipline against the lesser aids in qahnaar... denial of the greater".

By now, I was standing right in front of Paarthurnax. "Before I ask why you're here, There are formalities which must be observed, at the first meeting of two of the dov. By long tradition, the elder speaks first. Hear my Thu'um! Feel it in your bones. Match it, if you are Dovahkiin! Yol...Toor...Shul!". He breathed fire on me but for some reason, it didn't hurt. Paarthurnax then turned to a familiar-looking wall. "A gift, Dovahkiin. Yol. Understand Fire as the dov do". I approached the wall as I heard the new word of power flowing into me.

"Now, show me what you can do. Greet me not as mortal, but as dovah!", Paarthurnax said. Hearing the new word resounding in my head, I let out my Thu'um as I breathed fire of my own upon Paarthurnax. "Aaah... yes! Sossedov los mul. The Dragonblood runs strong in you. It is long since I had the pleasure of speech with one of my own kind".

The Princess then approached us. "greeting Paarthurnax, it has been a long time" the Princess was now standing besides me "I hate to cut straight to the point but The Dragonborn needs your help. He requires the shout known as, Dragon Rend".

Paarthurnax shook his head sadly, "Alduin and Dovahkiin return together. But I do not know the Thu'um you seek. Krosis. It cannot be known to me. Your kind - joorre - mortals - created it as a weapon against the dov… the dragons. Our hadrimme, our minds cannot even… comprehend its concepts". His gaze returned to me "tell me, what would you do if you learned this Thu'um?".

I thought for a second, "I've no idea who this Alduin is but he sounds like the type of trouble that needs to be stopped". Princess Celestia then told me what she knew about Alduin as she had taken the time to research him.

"Now you know the truth about Alduin, does that change your stance towards him?", Paarthurnax asked.

I shook my head. "To be honest, I like this world and I don't want it to end", I replied.

Paarthurnax let out a soft chuckle. "Pruzah. As good a reason as any. There are many who feel as you do, although not all. Some would say that all things must end, so that the next can come to pass. Perhaps this world is simply the Egg of the next kalpa? Lein vokiin? Would you stop the next world from being born?". I simply stated that the next world will have to take care of itself. "Paaz. A fair answer. Ro fus... maybe you only balance the forces that work to quicken the end of this world. Even we who ride the currents of Time cannot see past Time's end... Wuldsetiid los tahrodiis. Those who try to hasten the end, may delay it. Those who work to delay the end, may bring it closer".

Paarthunax then moved over to the wall. "But you have indulged my weakness for speech long enough. Krosis. Now I will ask you a question. Do you know why I live here, at the peak of the Monahven – what you name Throat of the World?". I was unsure as there were a few answers but none of them felt right. "This is the most sacred mountain in Skyrim. Zok revak strunmah. The great mountain of the world. Here the ancient Tongues, the first mortal masters of the voice, Brought Alduin to battle and defeated him". I asked if this was when the Dragon Rend shout. "Yes and no. Viik nuz ni kron. Alduin was not truly defeated, either. If he was, you would not be here today, seeking to... defeat him. The Nords of those days used the Dragonrend Shout to cripple Alduin. But this was not enough. Ok mulaag unslaad. It was the Kel – the Elder Scroll. They used it to... cast him adrift on the currents of Time."

I asked him what an Elder Scroll was "Hmm. How to explain in your tongue? The dov have words for such things that joorre do not. It is... an artefact from outside time. It does not exist, but it has always existed. Rah wahlaan. They are...hmm... fragments of creation. The Kelle... Elder Scrolls, as you name them, they have often been used for prophecy. Yes, your prophecy comes from an Elder Scroll. But this is only a small part of their power. Zofaas suleyk."

"Are you saying the ancient Nords sent Alduin forward in time?", I asked.

"Not intentionally. Some hoped he would be gone forever, forever lost. Meyye. I knew better. Tiid bo amativ. Time flows ever onward. One day he would surface. Which is why I have lived here. For thousands of mortal years I have waited. I knew where he would emerge but not when.". I asked how this might help me. "Tiid krent. Time was... shattered here because of what the ancient Nords did to Alduin. If you brought that Kel, that Elder Scroll back here... to the Tiid-Ahraan, the Time-Wound... With the Elder Scroll that was used to break Time, you may be able to... cast yourself back. To the other end of the break. You could learn Dragonrend from those who created it."

"Then It's lucky I've held onto this for so long," The Princess said as her horn glowed before a large scroll appeared in her hands. "A few years ago, one of my soldiers bravely popped into a place known as Aftland with the help of a scholar known as Septimus Signus".

Paarthurnax flew up onto the wall. "You have it. The Kel - the Elder Scroll. Tiid kreh... qalos. Time shudders at its touch. There is no question. You are doom-driven. Kogaan Akatosh. The very bones of the earth are at your disposal. Go then. Fulfil your destiny. Take the Scroll to the Time-Wound. Do not delay. Alduin will be coming. He cannot miss the signs."

The princess gave me the scroll. As I held it, I felt myself walk to a certain spot before opening the scroll. So much happened all at once. I saw the three ancient heroes as they slew a few dragons in the hopes that they'd attract Alduin. Then they talked about potentially using an Elder Scroll if things go awry.

Alduin finally turned up and after the three heroes and he exchanged a few words.

"Joor Zah Frul!". Those words resounded in my head as I watched the fight. Alduin defeated the female whilst the eldest hero then used the Elder scroll to banish Alduin.

"Hold, Alduin on the Wing! Sister Hawk, grant us your sacred breath to make this contract heard! Begone, World-Eater! By words with older bones than your own we break your perch on this age and send you out! You are banished! Alduin, we shout you out from all our endings unto the last! You are banished!" the eldest hero said. In time, I returned to my time. Now with the shout in my arsenal.

But as I returned from my vision trip I spotted the sight of a familiar black dragon. Instinct kicked in as I shouted at him, "Joor Zah Frul!".

Alduin landed in front of us, "You may have picked up the weapons of my ancient foes, but you are not their equal!" he said as he started attacking us.

The girls and I started fighting Alduin and even the Princess joined in. Thanks to the Princess, the fight was over sooner than expected as Alduin quickly flew up and out of range of my shouts.

"Don't think you've won" he said scornfully. "I'll see you again once I've devoured all of the souls in Sovngarde". With that, he flew off.

"Lot krongrah. You truly have the Voice of a dovah. Alduin's allies will think twice after this victory". Paarthurnax said. But this didn't feel like a victory. "Ni liivrah hin mere. This is not the final krongah - victory. But not even the heroes of old were able to defeat Alduin in open battle. Alduin always was pahlok - arrogant in his power. Uznahgar paar. He took domination as his birthright. This should shake the loyalty of the dov who serve him".

"He mentioned Sovngarde," I said, "I need to get there so I can stop him for good".

"Hmm yes... maybe one of his allies could tell us. Motmahus... But it will not be easy to... convince one of them to betray him. Perhaps the hofkahsejun - the palace in Whiterun... Dragonsreach. It was originally built to house a captive dovah. A fine place to trap one of Alduin's allies, hmm?". Paarthunax looked like he was trying to figure out how to best approach this situation as he said all of this. "After speaking with you, I know he'll help as you Su'um is strong. Go to him and I'll try to think of which of Alduin's allies would be best for this specific task".

I thanked Paarthurnax for his help as the princess and the girls came close to me. The princess's horn glowed and just like that, poof, we were now standing in front of the Jarl indicating we were in Dragon's reach.

Author's Note

Sorry that took a while. I had to figure out how to adapt the changes to the story by removing certain parts.

This'll be the only time I'll be using the Princess as a Deus ex machina/MacGuffin as it cuts out the annoying part of Alduins wall and asking the Greybeards for the Dragon Rend plus the time taken to obtain the Elder Scroll.
