The land of Equis, endless in its mysteries and riddles, has always been home to those who seek to solve these strange secrets of which their world offers. But none have ever managed to solve the greatest mystery of them all.

Who came before?

It is known by many, Ponies, Griffins, Yaks, Minotaurs, Dragons, & even Changelings, that once... long before the 3 tribes & Alicorns even entered written history... that there was some nation that came before them. That some race, long lost to the passing of time, had claimed the entirety of the known world under one banner.

These "Forerunners", as the world has come to calling them, were the most powerful entity around their time. But no one knows what happened to them, or their glorious empire.
This forgotten race are believed to be long extinct as all that remains of them are statues & ruins. To this day, no one has ever gotten close to deciphering the secrets of their history... and no one has ever seen their remains.

But with the passage of time, comes knew discoveries, with the passage of time... the forgotten, can be found.

After a recent earthquake, caused by magical instability in the magic ley lines, cause part of a mountain to collapse. A Expedition, led by one Daring do, had recently uncovered the most intact remnants of Forerunner ruins that the known world has ever seen. A great city, spanding 3 Manehattans, was found Buried inside of a mountain close to the city of Canterlot. Inside this grand city was found to be the first documented remains of the Forerunner bodies. This discovery was quick to make headlines & soon found a royal grant, issued by the Princesses themselves, for further excavations to continue the uncovering of these ancient ruins.
Expecting to find more relics of the past, the newly funded research team soon traveled further into the ruins...

None of them would have thought that their greatest questions would be answered... in person...
