She waited silently for the 4:15 PM Train to the borders of the country. Lyra, however, had no intention of boarding. She had always hated trains. I love trains. I don't know what the hell was wrong with her. Lyra knew when the rails started to shake that the train would be there soon. At least, that's what Octavia told her. She couldn't trust Octavia. Who could? Lyra still managed to be cold in the desert that appeared to be the Outskirts of Nowhere. She was alone, even as Bon-Bon galloped happily along to her and sat down. Lyra moved not an inch to greet her. She hated people. I would hate people too, if I had experienced what she had. But I didn't. Bon-Bon noticed that Lyra had no interest in talking to her. She persevered regardless. "Hello Lyra!" was how she began. She received an answer soon enough. "Go away" "Oh, just great! And you?" "Can I help you?", A frustrated Lyra shot back a hateful glance. "I'm just having a conversation, apparently I'm doing all the work" "I'm not obligated to talk to you" "Morally, you are" "What are morals to me, anymore?" "That's fair, but perhaps you could choose to talk to me, and tell me how it happened" "How what happened?" They remained silent for a bit, before Lyra caved. "Alright fine" She started, "But it's not a happy story" "It's darkest before dawn" "The night is still too fucking long" Lyra looked in all four cardinal directions, inspecting every corner out of pure paranoia. She apparently knew something the rest of us didn't. She still won't admit what is was, but we all have our own idea. Our own twisted version of the story. No one knew for sure. But everyone though for certain their's was true. She continued to walk through the plaza. No one noticed her paranoia at first, it wasn't until she finally snapped against it. Whatever it was. Anyway, no one remembers exactly how it went down. I know I wasn't even there. At first, we didn't know it was Lyra. Here's essentially what happened. Lyra walked into the post office with her paranoia right behind her. She walked up to the wooden desk where a stallion sat and read the news. She frantically tapped while waiting for help from the stallion. None was received. She stayed, frantically trying to make sense of the situation. She then heard a voice behind her. A voice she detected to be sinister. One that would be her death. She had to protect herself from such a horrid monster. "Helllllloooooooooooo Lyra!"[i/] And then there was a kick, a scream, and a horror that fell. "Have you ever been kicked by a horse?" Lyra asked. "Once or twice, but one usually recovers." Bon-Bon replied. "Not Derpy, she was a fragile one" "What happened to her?" "Bone fracture, all around your guttiwuts" Lyra moved her hoof around to demonstrate. "So you injured Derpy Hooves, what happened then?" "No...wait...shit...There was something that happened before then" "What was that?"
