Also, this is my second parallel-universe story (I should call it uniVERVE), what means it builds on my original life story (Memories of Zephyr). But as this story is a parallel-universe story, it'll be going different from a point: that point is the middle of the 8th chapter. So, let the story... begin! It was four months after I got in the Royal Guards as a sergeant and squad leader. Duty was simple. Get assignment, get ready, get around the place we were assigned to, get back. Today wasn't exception either. We (my squad and I) were sent to patrol at Ponyville: that town was right next to the Everfree, we always had to check for roaming monsters. Knowing there will be nothing, just like the previous hundred times (no, seriously, this was the one hundred and first time when I had to patrol there, I always wanted to say that and mean it) I told the squad that they can have the night free, I'll take care of anything what comes. Naturally, they were cheering me, having a good leader is really rare and they got one of the best! (Yes, I do shine myself.) So, I headed out and soon I was at the edge of the forest, trotting on the path, humming quietly a tune to myself, watching the early night sky. This last until I heard a scream and an animalistic roar from inside the forest. Knowing I have no time to lose, I immediately got midair, flying above the woods, listening for another sound. To my luck I heard another scream, followed by an angrier roar, this time very close to me. Then I saw it. It was a light blue unicorn mare, chased by a manticore. Quickly unsheating my sword I nosedived at the beast, cutting off its right wing with a slice and kicking it in the face right after. "Quick! Hide!" I shouted to the mare who trembled in fear but obviously was relieved by seeing that she is saved. She climbed on a tree, hiding behind the leaves. The manticore on the other hoof was just about to attack. The pain of losing a wing and getting kicked in the face was enough to enrage it: all he (probably 'he', I don't know the differences between male and female manticore) could see was redness. He let out a near deafening roar of rage then jumped in my direction, ready to cut me in pieces with his claws. But I was the fastest in the Royal Guards because of a reason. As quick as lightning I flew away from there (living a dust 'phantom'), and got behind the manticore. The animal, thinking he would hit me, crashed into the tree what was behind me a second earlier. It made him disoriented, probably he could see two of everything. I just charged him, holding the trusty blade in my hooves, and with a big sling, I cut off his poisonous scorpion tail. The beast roared in pain yet again, now obviously pissed to no end. He looked at me, saliva dripping from his mouth. "Yo what's up? Did tha lil' Zeph hurt ya, huh? Whooo, I'm scared now!" I taunted him, using my original accent. The manticore roared again (could he do anything else?) and did his own charge. I don't have to say, withouth his right wing and tail, bleeding and disoriented, he was slowed down. Smirking, I raised my sword above my head, helding it like those eastern martial arts warrior ponies (forgot the name, sorry). I flew forward, screaming a battle cry. What I didn't expect, was that the manticore will act sentient like: he raised his right paw to crush me, but when I got close enough, he hit me with his left, still intact wing. I was sent flying into a tree, crash-landing on it, making my left hindleg unuseable (I hit the tree with my left hindleg first, it made my leg feel like broken...). I looked up, at the now charging manticore. Fast as lightning, I opened my wings and flew up, above the height of the trees, keeping an eye on the manticore. He tried to fly up to me, only to remember the faith of his right wing... what made him roar in anger again. I noticed that, when he roars, he closes his eyes for at least five seconds. This was my chance. I flew down, gaining speed with the moment, helding my sword in front of me, pointing at the manticore. He was about to finish his roar, when... *Sclash!* The blade of my sword went trough the skull of the animal like hot knife in butter. For a few seconds I saw the surprised expression on his face, before he died, collapsing. "Huff...huff... This was... hufff... close..." I gulped and landed next to the corpse of the manticore, sheating my blade. "Damn Night Guards why can't do their job, why I have to patrol at night too?..." I asked myself, then took deep breaths and whipped my forehead while sitting down. Flying AND fighting in a 17 kilogramms heavy battle armor is tiring afterall! I heard the rustling of leaves and looked at the direction of it. To my relief, it was just the mare I saved, descending from the tree she hid before. Half a minute later she was in front of me, mixed emotions on her face, but mostly relief. "You... you saved me! You saved the Great and Powerful Trixie and killed that beast! Trixie owe you her life! Tell Trixie what she can do for you, Royal Guard!" She said while smiling. She was strange... but she was pretty too, though her mane was fuzzled and there were leaves in it. "For first, my name is Zephyr Verve, sergeant of the Royal Guards, Twenty-seventh division. Second, it is my duty to keep the citizens of Equestria safe. And for third... why are you talking from yourself in third pony, oh great and powerful?" I said and gave her a questioning look. She grinned sheepishly and broke the eye-contact. "The Great and Powerful Trixie have to speak like this if she wants to keep her audience..." She said, shifting her eyes. "Hm, yes, I see, and where is that audience now?..." I asked, rising my right eyebrow. "They are... they..." She sighed in defeat. "They left me. I have no audience, nor fans anymore. I'm nopony. I lost everything." If her words not, her face told me everything: the sadness she was in was readable clear as day. "Lost everything?... What happened?" I asked, feeling bad about her already. "I'm... I'm a traveling magician, I travel through Equestria, I have seen almost all of it at least twice. I give shows, do some spectacular tricks and prove that I'm... better than them. This was good until I came here, in Ponyville. Then she appeared... a little librarian unicorn, what's her name? Twilight Sparkle? Ah, that's it. She ruined everything." She stopped her monologue, sighing and rubbing her eyes. "I... had an accident and lost not just my reputation but my cart too... all my belongings..is gone.. I fled in the Everfree in shame." She stopped, looking down at the ground, sniffing. "Oh. I'm really sorry about you. I guess you got lost and attacked by this manticore, right?" I asked, putting a hoof on her right shoulder. "Y-yes, this is the third day here... I thought this was the last either... but then you appeared out of nowhere and saved me!" Her frown turned up to a smile and she put her right hoof on mine, caressing it. "I-uh, uhm, this is my duty, miss Trixie..." I might be a trained warrior but I'm not prepared for this!... "It's Trixie Lulamoon." She said and smiled warmly again. "Well Trixie, I assume you need a place to live. Am I right?" I asked, the cogs in my brain spinning madly. "Yes... do you want to say that you let me stay with you?" She asked, a bit too happily. "Yeah, I planned to move out anyway and I could use a new roommate!" <- what I said... what I thought -> 'Lie, lie, lie, lie, lie!' "Would you.. really?" Trixie asked, closing the distance between us. "Y-yes, of course, you need help and I can't just let a mare like you hanging, living on the streets!..." I gave her a weak smile. 'Yes, yes, YES! Finally after many years... oh I love my life!' I thought and my smile grew into a grin. While I thought these, she got even closer. Before I could realize, her mouth was mere centimeters away from mine, then... she kissed me... I was shocked, I thought she would be thankful, but this?... Whoah... 'No, this is impossible, this just can't be! No mare do this in the first site, NO MARE!' I thought, but forget it and enjoyed the kiss. After recovering from this inital shock, I looked in her purple eyes, and saw a sparkle. I felt strange in my stomach, my heartbeat got fast and I couldn't stop staring her... "Zephyr?... Can we go?..." She asked quietly while keeping the eye contact. I gulped and remembered that we are still in the Everfree, also, there is a fresh corpse of a manticore - we should get out of there as fast as possible, before something else comes. "Yes, yes, follow me." She let me go and I stood up, turning to the direction of the closest exit of the forest. Obviously, I was thinking about her, and as I have a vivid imagination, well, my wings popped open, with an audible... *POMF!* "Oh goddess..." I whispered and stopped to fold my wings back. Then I heard it: Trixie was giggling, she even covered her face with a hoof. I looked at her. "I, uh, this is, uhm, I can explain, uhm..." I mumbled. "Shh, don't say anything." She walked in front of me, sitting down. "The Great and Powerful Trixie know what you were thinking and approves it!" she said and with a sudden move she pulled me into another kiss. My wings popped open again. /// On the same night, a few hours later.../// "Aaand this is the kitchen... and you could find my bedroom there!" I said this to Trixie, after we got out of the Everfree, I headed back to the HQ, signed off duty and lead her to my home, where Gemmy (her full name is Radiant Gem), Iron Will and I were living. She haven't meet them yet, Gemmy was somewhere in the city, after I let her and my whole squad go, she vanished. She used to do this, Canterlot is her playground. Will on the other hoof was still in duty, probably doing paperwork. Poor guy. So, we were alone at the moment. "Your bedroom? Can I have a look?" She asked. "Sure, I guess you will have to sleep with me anyway." I said. 'Sleep, yes, hah!' I thought. I led her to my bedroom. It was small but cozy: some furniture, a bed, a table with a chair, a mirror and a single window, looking at a nearby park. "Minimalist, I know, but I don't need more." I said and opened a shelf, grabbing a comb and giving it to Trixie. "Here, you can use this if you want to comb your mane." "Thank you, Zephyr. And my cart wasn't bigger either, I like your room." She said with a smile and grabbed the comb with her magic. "Just call me Zeph. Anyway, do you need something? To eat? To drink? Anything?" I looked at her: she was already combing her mane... and she looked beautiful... "Yes... I'm pretty hungry..." Her smile turned into a frown. "Why didn't you say before?" I asked her. 'Why didn't I think before?' I asked myself. "You are too good to Trixie. Trixie does not deserves it." She said and lowered her head. I stood in front of her and raised her head with a hoof on her chin. "Don't say this, you are wonderful!..." I smiled. "Though you need to learn how to speak in first pony!" I let out a small chuckle. "Y-yes... maybe..." She sighed. "Don't worry, I'll take care of you." I hugged her. "Come on, the food is in the kitchen." I wanted to move but she didn't let me go. A second later I realized what's going on and started to caress her (now somehow combed) blue-ish white mane. I felt the wet warmness of tears on my shoulder: Trixie started to silently cry. "Shh, it's alright, it's alright. I'm here for you." I said and kept the embrace while still caressing her mane. "T-thank you, Zeph... thank you..." She said. We remain hugging for the next ten minutes.
Chapter 2 - Things Go ComplicatedView OnlineNot So Royal Guard AnymoreChapter 2 - Things Go ComplicatedAuthor's note: it might be a liiiitle bit big leap into the story, but why not? Five days passed since I saved Trixie. She had problems with her speaking time to time, but she was trying. I was just wondering what was the thing what made her flee. She said she was boastful and acted mean, but all I can see from her is... completly different! She is nice, quiet, always acting kind... When she met my friends, she was almost acting shy! Gemmy of course was 'high' again, overjoyed because of Trixie, and Will was just humming and nodding. Later that evening he called me over and told me one thing: "Nice catch, Zephy!" My head went red because of his teasing and I punched him on his left shoulder (making his left foreleg limp), but secretly I was blushing too, finding a mare like her was... almost impossible. But if I summ up everything... I finally felt like I have somepony in my life who I can... no, I don't want to jinx it. ///Almost a month later, in the evening.../// "Could you give me some tomato?" Will asked, munching on a half-complete sandwich. He was always doing this: making an incomplete sandwich and eating the veggies separatedly. "Yes of course!" Trixie replied and levitated a tomato to him. "Thanks!" He said and grabbed it with a hoof. "You know guys.. I wonder why do you even have to ask, you all are unicorns!" I said, nonchalantly eating an apple-rolls. "Dunno, but this gave me an idea!" Gemmy answered my rhetorical question. "Do I have to be affraid?..." I asked, I knew Gemmy enough. As answer, she just grinned menacingly and levitated the vegetables above herself. "Oh goddess why did I open my mouth?..." I said quietly and braced myself for being assaulted by her... only to find out: nothing hapened. Trixie gave Gemmy a serious look and shook her head. Gemmy sighed in defeat and levitated the veggies back on the table. "T-thank you Trixie!" I said in relief. She leaned closer to me (she was sitting on my left) and whispered in my ear. "Anytime, my love." I felt my face burning, I'm sure I was as red as Will. But Trixie got a nice redness on her face too. When Gemmy noticed the sudden change of the color of our face, she froze for a second... then burst out in laughter. I just slowly facehoofed. Later, on the same evening. It was eleven sharp. I had to rest, the next day was a long one, I was assigned to a way too long patrol. When I was about to fall asleep, Trixie come in my room. She was refreshened, she had a shower by the looks. "Oh hello Miss Beautiful!" I said with a smirk. She walked to my bed and climbed on it, climbed on me. "Hi there, handsome..." She said, her eyelids were halfway closed, making the infamous 'bedroom-eyes'. She leaned closer, giving me a kiss on the lips. My wings popped open, even though I was lying on my back. Trixie enveloped the blanket with her magical aura and levitated it off of me so there was nothing between us anymore. 'This is it. The time. Yes!' I thought and smiled. Trixie leaned closer again, giving me a quick kiss, then her horn glowed and flashed up: she changed our position with teleporting! "Wow. That was weird..." I said and looked down, Trixie was under me, smiling cutely. "Don't let the Great and Powerful Trixie wait!" She said, no, demanded. "Oh we will see who is great and powerful now!" I got in position, then... ///The next morning.../// The rays of the early sun went through in the small open spaces between the shutter and the window's casement, shining right into my eye. Naturally I woke up. "An unbelievably far and gigantic solar body, giving heat and life for a planet and yet an unbelievably accurate sniper, shooting its light right in my eye." I said quietly and I was about to get out of bed, when... "Good morning to you too, Zeph." I blinked. I totally forgot that Trixie was with me, hugging me, to be certain. Then I remembered everything. A satisfied smile crept on my face. "Sorry for waking you up Honey." I whispered in her ear: she flicked that ear cutely and nuzzled me on the chest (her head was on my chest, using me as a pillow). "You are very cute, you know?" She just smiled, her eyes still closed and tried to embrace me even more. "Don't go..." She said and opened her eyes, looking up at my eyes. "I have to, I'm sorry. I will be back as soon as possible." I kissed her forehead and tried to get out of the bed, this time successfully. "What will I do then?" She asked, frowning. "Well..." This was a hard question, in the past month, since she lived with me, Trixie did almost nothing. Of course she tried to be useful, help doing chores and stuff like that but she was just sitting on our bed, doing nothing. "...maybe you should ask Gemmy if she can show you around in the city, I know you've been here but she have nothing to do either and I'm sure both of you would enjoy some shopping. Oh wait, that means I will lose all my money." My eyes widened, but Trixie just kept looking at me, with the same sad expression. "Oh well, I had worse. Come on, Gemmy should be up, she want to do as many things on her free day, as ponily possible." "Yes, that's like her..." Trixie looked down, wearing an even sadder expression, making me feel bad. "Oh come on Honey, why aren't you smiling? Tell me what's wrong, please!..." I lifted her head with a hoof, making her looking into my eyes. "The Great and Powerful Trixie does not deserves your money, Zephyr. Trixie will just remain here all day." I couldn't stand this anymore. "Trixie. Don't say this. You know it's not true. Come on, talk with Gemmy." I walked to the shelf where my savings are and grabbed a sack of bits. "This'll be surely enough." I gave it to her. "No, I can't accept it!" She gave it back. "Trixie. Don't do this." "Zeph, I ca-" I didn't let her finish her sentence. "Shut up and take my bits!" I demandingly raised my left foreleg with the sack of bits in my hoof. "O-okay..." She took it. "But are you sure?..." "Yes." I leaned close to her. "Look, I want that you feel yourself good, enjoy life and be happy again. And I will do anything to achieve this. And if I get something in my head, then..." I stopped, letting her continue. "...then you will do it, any cost." She sighed. "I know. Alright, you convinced me." She slowly started to smile. "But don't be surprised if this sack will be empty when you get back!" She smirked. "Now that's the Trixie I want to see!" I kissed her on the lips then went in the bathroom, preparing myself for duty. ///That unbelieveably long and boring day later.../// I arrived to home, almost everything of me in pain. After getting inside, I noticed a few paperbags with different kind of stuff in it. That reminded me of the thing I bought. "Whoah, what the hay?..." I raised an eyebrow and checked the bags: some food, some souveniers from the city and clothes. "Clothes. Why clothes? It's like the middle of the summer!" I said and grabbed a silky fabric. After rising it I realized what was it. "Sweet Luna... if she going to wear this, my head gonna explode..." It was a pair of hot looking white stockings. "Ah my wings!" I hissed in pain. Yes, you guessed why. "Zeph? Is that you?" I heard the familiar, sweet voice of Trixie, coming from the inner parts of the flat. "Yeah, I'm home!... " I answered and tried to fold my wings back, thinking about fountains and birds chirping. My wings gave in and let themselves be folded and I hid the small package under my left wing: it was important to don't let her know about it before time. Right when I was done Trixie appeared in front of me, smiling. "What's up?" I asked, responding to her smile with my own. "Oh this day was wonderful, Gemmy and I were talking all day, shopping and sightseeing in the city... this reminds me two things." Her happy expression turned into a half frown. "Two things? I'm listening." I said and sat down. "Well, I think you already found the first." She pointed at the paperbag of the stockings, I nodded (a very faint blush appearing on my face, just because thinking about her in those..). "The second thing is, well... I have to confess something..." "Oh. What is it?" My smile turned into a frown, just like hers. "It's better if we go in your room." She motioned to follow her. In my room... "I... can't live with this in mind anymore..." She started after she sat on my bed, looking at the floor. I sat next to her, on her left side, putting my right hoof on her right shoulder. "Tell me. Anything it is I'm sure I can handle it and help you." I said in a calming tone. She looked up, in my eyes. She was already tearing, probably on the edge of crying. "Zeph.... I lied to you... not exactly lie, but I showed what isn't true.." She looked down at the floor again. "What do you mean?..." I blinked in confusion. "When we first met... when you saved me... I needed a place to live, somepony I can use to get back on track..." She stopped, sobbing. "That would be me I guess." I said, letting out a small sigh. "W-well, it was the plan.... but then I felt strange and.... I didn't want to leave you... I only realized this yesterday evening..." She started to cry. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry..." 'Just this? I thought she wants to leave me!' I thought. "Don't worry, I'm not angry at you." I started to caress her mane and kissed her left cheek. "Besides... I thought there is something off with ya all the time!" I said and chuckled a bit. "But everything's fine, you don't need to worry. Also... there is somethin' I want to give ya!" She looked at me. "Give.. me? What is it?" I opened my left wing (with a good amount of pain pulsing through it) and the little package fell on the bed. Trixie saw it and gave me a questioning look. I simply nodded to her, my expression saying 'take it'. She grabbed it with her magic, levitating it in front of her. "Open it." I said and she obeyed. Half minute later an even smaller, fancy box was in her hooves. "Is this... what I think it is?" She asked and her breathing got faster. "Only one way to know~!" I answered in a singy voice and she opened the box. A golden horn-ring was there, with a flawless diamond in it. "Would you be my wife?" I asked, trying to look in her beautiful purple eyes. She slowly turned her head, looking in my eyes, her expression changing, then she took a big breath and... "YES!!!" She shouted and tackle-hugged me, sending me fall on my back. "Uh my everything!" I hissed in pain as I landed, the unpleasant feeling waved through my body. But it was worth it afterall... When Trixie realized that I'm in pain, she let me go, covering her mouth with both hooves. "Oh I'm sorry, did I hurt you?" She asked. "N-no.. I just need a massage and I'll be fine." I said, looking at the ceiling. "Well, I can give you a crude massage." She said, grinning, levitating the ring in front of her. "In exchange of this something!" I chuckled then replied to her. "My body is yours!" Trixie engulfed me in a magical aura, turning me around: I was facing the bed after she set me down. She then started to work on my tired and aching muscles, giving me relief. An hour long massage later... We were both lying on the bed, I was on my back, staring the ceiling, thinking about the future. Trixie was on my right, probably napping. I started to gently caress her belly. "Hmmm?" She moved her head, looking up at me. "Ah, nothing, I just realized something." She blinked and tilted her head. "And that is?" "I'm going to be a father soon." I smiled and sighed with pride. Her eyes widened for a second. Then she blinked and smiled. "Yes, you are. And you are going to be a great one." She closed her eyes. "Great and powerful?" I asked mockingly. "Very funny, Zeph."
Chapter 3 - Wedding and stuff...View OnlineNot So Royal Guard AnymoreChapter 3 - Wedding and stuff...Things got slightly different after I asked Trixie... in the first day she was like out of the world, humming and smiling all day. When I told Will and Gemmy about it both of them were happy of course, Gemmy (as usual) got in her 'high' state, speaking way too fast and breaking the rules of physics (or teleporting? I don't know, she is an unicorn afterall), and Will started to plan the bachelor party. The next day it happened, I got wasted... luckily I did nothing against the law or anything else. But I still don't know how did Will made me chug a liter of fine vodka. Hm, dunno. Neither I know hwne and how did I get on the top of a Celestia statue, singing teh National Anthem. And the third day... it was the day. I planned out everything before. The wedding was small, simple, with just a few guests. To be honest.. there was an accident with the cake I don't want to talk about... let's say somepony got super-high and tried to teleport herself along with the cake... I can still see my mother's face... uh... Okay okay, I'll tell ya. Shortly: Gemmy, as I said, tried to carry the wedding cake in faster and she thought it would be easy if she teleport herself and the cake in. So, as she was 'high' and unable to shoot the range... she teleported above the table of the cake. Six meters above. I can still see... the cake falling...falling...falling... Gemmy screaming in both surprise and fear... my mom when she looked up... Then the cake fell, right on my mom, enveloping her completly. Gemmy fell on her hooves like a cat. She thought she was lucky, but she fell on the table and it collapsed under her. Now that was funny! Well, something to remember for a lifetime! ///The evening of the wedding.../// "...So..." I whispered to Trixie, we were in front of the new flat we got from my parents as a wedding present. "...shall we?" Trixie blushed and nodded, answering in a whisper. "Yes, we shall..." I took her in my forehooves, lifting her up. Then using my wings to balance, I stepped to the door, opened it somehow and closed when we were inside. Trixie embraced me whispering in my ear. "I love you." "I love you too, my little magician." I said and rushed in the bedroom... She is already pregnant. But can't the good ol'e Zeph have some fun, eh? After that night.... I woke with a satisfied smile on my face. As usual, I found Trixie on my right, hugging me while sleeping, and just being her cute self. I watched her silently, not wanting to wake her up, but I had a few important things to do later that day and I had to get myself ready. After somehow I managed to leave the bed without waking her up, I went in the bathroom, washed my face and looked in the mirror. A young stallion's grinning face looked back, a married stallion's face, a father's face. My grin decreased to a smirk and I continued my morning routine. Soon I was writing a note to Trixie and five minutes later I wasn't at home anymore. Four hours later I was on my way back: the whole marriage thing is a very special ocassion even in the Royal Guard HQ, I got a whole week for the honeymoon.How, how not, I found myself facing the happily grinning Gemmy while I trotted home. She stopped me. "Hey Zephy, what's up?" She asked cheerfully. "Oh hey, nothing special, I'm just goin' home to my wife! Hehe, I wanted to say this in a looong time." I got a grin similar to Gemmy's. "And what will you do then?" She was completly oblivious or just in a mood to make me angry. "Gemmy, I think if it isn't obvious, I will have my private time." I looked in her yellow eyes, giving the 'Are you serious?' look. "Oh. Ooooh!" She giggled. "Okay, have fun with her then, hehee~!" she said, waved a goodbye, then teleported herself away. "Well that was weird, even from her..." I said under my breath, continuing my way back home. At home... "I'm home!" I shouted when I closed the door. A second later Trixie teleported herself next to me, looking worried. "Why did you live me like this?" She asked. Her mane was in a cute bun, making her look... *POMF!* "Gosh darn it..." I folded my wings back. "Sorry love, I had to tell the situation to the HQ. But we have a whole free week!" She smiled. "Well, that's good afterall. But don't go away like this ever again, okay?" "Yes yes, I promise." I smiled reassuringly. "Now come, I'm sure you must be hungry! The Great and Powerful Trixie made you the perfect breakfast!" She said and stood on her hindlegs, like there were fireworks behind her. "Honey... it's almost noon. And you spoke in third pony again!" I gave her a quick kiss and walked in the kitchen, checking what she made. "Oh. Sorry about that. And noon, really?" "Yup! But thank you anyway." What I saw made me drop my jaw. The whole kitchen was a mess, used dishes, bowls, EVERYTHING in everywhere. And on the table, there was a stack of pancakes, topped with maple syrup. "Oh you like it!" She said, not really getting my shocked expression. "Yeah... it's perfect..." I said and my brain already started to beg me to NOT do the dishes. "Though somepony will have to wash all of this.." I pointed at the mess what was previously my kitchen. "Well..." Trixie took a look around and made a slightly shocked expression. "...it's your luck I'm proficient in the sophisticated magic. Just watch!" Her horn glowed up and a magical aura enveloped all the used dishes. Then, with a flash, everything went off of them, leaving them completly clean. "Whoah, neat..." I said, almost in awe. I didn't see Trixie doing magic, only the basic levitation or teleportation. "I told you." She sent the dishes back in their respective places. "The benefits of being an unicorn!" Using my wings I pulled her closer and kissed her. "The benefits of being a pegasi..." I said and smirked. And this was how my new life started with my wife. ///A few weeks later.../// In the past weeks a lot of things happened. Trixie got a temporary job as a waitress in a restaurant, she did it not because of the payment, but because to get used to the settled down life and the communication with ohter ponies. I, of course, continued my duty after the week long honeymoon. Thanks to my nonexistant luck, a giant chicken attacked Ponyville when I was still on my honeymoon, so it didn't ate me, like some other members of the Royal Guards. Above that nothing really special happened, though I heard more rumors of weird things happening 'round Equestria, always being in connection with the new Night Guards, but this had no active effect on me. The days went on, duty was simple and boring, nothing happened. But then... in that night... everything changed. It was just a regular patrol. Nothing serious. My squad and me with a temporary help in the form of another guard. It should've been nothing... I could've seen it.... but no. In that night, I lost my squad. Everypony died. Almost me too. After barely surviving the incident, I recovered myself at home in Canterlot, with Trixie. She nursed me, more worried than ever before. Luckily (and thanks to her healing abilites) I recovered pretty fast, but my career as a Royal Guard was over. I lost one of my best friends, Gemmy died. The letter they sent was short and not explaining anything. Later I got the info from Will (who fell in a depression because of these.. events..), they sent me retired because of the emotional shock I got. But I really didn't care, I wanted to leave all of this buck, it was enough for a lifetime. Weeks passed again. The severance payment they gave me was more than enough to live, I didn't wanted to work anyway. I decided, it would be the best if we leave Canterlot and move to a smaller village. Ponyville. Of course Trixie didn't like the idea at all, but I managed to convince her. Soon, we will be on our way to that town, bringing everything we have (what is honestly not much). A good, peaceful life without getting stabbed or shot by an arrow. Yes. What could happen?..
