Razlad looked at him through the security cameras of Tartarus Inc. His name was 'Trestle'. A blonde Earth Pony Male with a grey coat, in his early twenties. A Cutie Mark depicting three pieces of paper with a heart on the third one. Small cute glasses on his snout for fashion purposes. The most interesting bits were his eyes though. Where a pony’s eyes would shine with life and purpose, his were... empty. No shine, no color. Just two black points surrounded by the white flesh of sight. And this was what attracted her the most to him. Razlad, the queen of Devils was interested in a low-wage artist Earth Pony who can barely pay his rent with his job. An occasional commission here and there for 20 bits and that was it. His main Job was to draw postcards by the way.
She put the laptop to the side of her and rubbed her eyes with her fetlocks. What was it about him? About that particular scum, a face in the crowd that made her giddy inside?
She was on her bed, her laptop beside her. A big bed. She stood up and trotted to the mirror, taking a brush with her magic to straighten out her Mane for some occasion. Her Red and White Mane. Then she moved to the right side of her Mane. The white Mane and added two curls with the help of her Magic. Once her double helix horn died down its magic she looked back into the mirror and moved side to side. Would he like that?. She asked herself, turning away and walking back to the bed to take the Laptop in her grip and watch that strange young Stallion again.
In the meantime, he was, in his Atelier, sketching a new bunch of postcard motives with a Pencil in his mouth.
What a sight to see.
She has watched him for many months now and the only interaction with Ponies she saw from him was with his postcard editors or however you call them. Through letters. She also saw that he only ate two meals per day at most and exclusively on Sundays. He looked thin, yes and not very muscular too. Why was she interested again? He also had this persisting frown all the time. Always a Frown on his face, on his lips. But when he worked on those postcards, sitting at the desk, sketching, watercolouring, compositing, inventing and highlighting he felt alive. She could see a certain shimmer in his eyes. Nothing close to a regular Pony but it was definitely happier than usual for him.
She touched the screen with her hoof, her tip below his face on the display, as she looked at him, working with such a passion she knew suddenly. She had to meet him. Because he was an artist she wanted to be the muse for.
And she had a plan on how to be...
With no time to lose she left her room and charged her horn with ancient magic. Her form disappeared in the wake, leaving the empty hallways of hell behind
She appeared in front of his apartment.
Her appearance was unchanged except that her horn vanished making her look like an ordinary Earth Pony Mare. She checked left and right and found no witnesses inside the Building that had seen her coming into this place. No witnesses, no corpses...
She had a plan already formulated in her mind about how to approach the situation here. So with a confident nod she raised her hoof and knocked on the door.
After about ten seconds the door opened. Trestles face peeked from the insides of his Atelier. Then it opened fully because a pretty Mare was the last thing he expected to meet in front of his working place. Razlad spotted that shine in his eyes that made him so attractive to her. Then it was gone again.
He kept staring at her for about a second then became dead serious, “yes?”
She smiled, “Are you Trestle?”
He nodded, “yep, that's me.”
She pulled up a few postcard motives with her hoof from somewhere made by him, “And these were made by you, yes?”
He looked at the motives. Motives of landscapes, birds, dragons and the common Propaganda and nodded, “yes and why?”
Razlad stepped closer with the pictures, “I am a big fan of your work, Trestle. And I wanted to meet the mind behind them.”
He stepped back, a bit startled by her 'sudden' approach, “uhm... okay? But how did you get my address?”
She blinked, “I asked the manufacturer”
His expression darkened to irritation, “Okay, but why did they give you my address? That information is confidential. They were not allowed to give you my address!”
The hidden Devil lowered the Postcards and looked at him, “uhh... I asked nicely?”
He raised an eyebrow at that and looked left to right, “I hope you won't tell anybody my address?”
Then he looked to the side and muttered, “Who would even give a fuck... So what do you want?” with the last part he turned to her.
“Umm... could I come in?” she asked with a hopeful smile on her face.
Trestle blinked but nodded, “What's the harm? Come in. Come in.” he turned around and went further inside the little Apartment. Razlad was also happy that she could sway him that way and a bit surprised at the lack of resistance too. What does she really want? To fuck him or just to be friends with him?
She stepped through the open door, closed it with her hindleg. There was a little brown closet beside her. A Mirror on its exterior in case somebody wanted to check appearances before heading out. Scarfs and Boots lined the space in front of it. The lamp above was glowing with an old and warm yellow light that filled the room with a welcoming atmosphere. The floor was covered with a light brown carpet that felt soft to her hooves and somehow relaxed her Body somewhat. Brushing against it made her urge to lie down on it and take a nap.
Trestle used a switch and the warm light switched off. The room becoming darker suddenly. Black walls and black carpets replaced the interior suddenly. Trestle walked into the Living Room which was flooded with sunlight from a window. Like a light at the end of the tunnel, it made her continue walking forward.
The living room was way bigger than the entrance room behind her. Blue walls and a lot of space to move around. On her right was Trestle who sat at his Desk again, illuminated with light from the window above it.
It was noon so the sun became weaker and weaker with time and the sky became dark blue. Trestle had turned on the lamp on his desk before she visited to compensate for the lack of natural light. She watched him a lot. He would work during nights and days and get six hours of sleep at best. At best. Last night was different.
On the wall across of him was a small couch. A grey couch with not much decoration. Long enough for a Pony to lie down and rest. Because she watched him she knew that Trestle would sometimes lie down during his work and just rest. Or doing other relaxing things like rubbing one out.
It was very interesting to watch. She turned to Trestle who was stacking some blank papers together and then putting them to the side.
“I think you want to see some of my bigger Drawings, right?” he said and turned to her.
She perked up at that thought and looked straight at him with a small smile and said, “yes please”
“Ok,” he replied in his most monotone voice and faced the desk again. Trestle reached out to the right and without Razlad noticing pulled a big Folder out of somewhere. He put it on his now empty desk (except the few pencils and the open watercolor box) and opened it.
The hidden devil took a few steps to be beside him and look over his shoulder as he was about to tell her some stories about the Paintings...
“...and for this one, I was inspired by my favorite Mangaka. That is why I used that yellow greenish tone and red sky.” Then Trestle was talking for about fifteen minutes by now and Razlad listened to every word he said. She could not quite describe it but there was something about him that intrigued her to no end. And suddenly he spoke up, “Aren't you tired?”
“Huh?” she asked and tore her eyes away from one of his last paintings.
“I asked if you were tired. You gave been standing there for about fifteen minutes from now. Listening to the bullshit I am talking. Like you would actually care about my art...”
“I do care!” she half shouted, leaning forward and never breaking eye contact with his dead eyes, “Trestle, I never ever have been so interested in somebody before in my life. Please do not think so low of yourself.
“You are an amazing Artist I would like to get to know better.”
Trestles eyebrows rose in surprise and he fully opened his eyes to stare at her. But that was the only emotion on his face so far, “What is even your name?” he asked.
Razlad blinked and noticed that she did not introduce herself beforehand, “Uhh, Sorry. My name is Razlad. Razlad Rabbit is my full name.”
Trestle nodded and pointed at the grey sofa, “Well Razlad. Today is Sunday. I didn't do any real work today besides studying new textures and basic techniques to solidify them more. Would you like to assist me in studying Pony anatomy?”
Razlad blinked, “Umm what?”
Trestle was surprised and quickly composed himself. He did not want to seem like a creep or similar so he coughed a little and then said, “Studies... Do you want me to draw you?”
“Sure!”
Trestle reeled back at the sudden smile on his face and how close Razlads body came to him. If he knew better he would say she tried to hug him. A bit flustered on his end he turned away and pointed at the sofa, “Just lie down there and we can do some sketches. If you have the time. Three Hours at least.”
She nearly used her magic to teleport on the sofa but jumped instead. With a quiet rumble and some movement, she laid down on the couch, feeling great and content in the situation. She would stay there for the rest of time if he wanted. He could master all secrets of pony anatomy with her if he wanted. He should just say so. She faced him while relaxing there and observing how he was preparing an easel and a big sketchbook. Some pencils to the right. Once everything was in order he looked at her with his dead eyes and said, “I am starting now, please do not move.”
She nodded and relaxed.
Trestle took a Pencil with his hoof and began sketching on the paper. Razlad saw how he moved his hoof left and right, up and down, a circle shape and so on. Meanwhile, his eyes were drilling into her and she could feel his gaze calculating her Proportions.
After about half an hour he stopped, sighed and leaned back. He took the Sketchbook and turned it around for her to see.
“What do you think?” he asked and handed the paper to her. She took it from him and looked at it.
The face was the first thing she noticed. A lightly drawn circle with nearly invisible direction lines, a sharp nose, and the well done Mane. What really stuck her were the eyes. A simple pencil for the eyes but yet the subtle expression showed what kind of Pony Razlad was in his eyes. With the simple lines, Trestle created an Aura of cuteness around Razlads drawn body. It somewhat warmed her heart and made her smile wider than ever. She gave it back to him and he flipped to the next page.
“Make a new pose, please. Something challenging this time”
Exactly three hours later he closed the Book with a slam, nodded and put it away in a corner. Razlad jumped up from her resting position and watched him packing his things.
“I gotta go home now. You?” He asked without looking at her.
“Ummm. Could I accompany you?” she asked timidly.
He looked eyed her up and down... He knew what she really wanted and apparently wanted it bad. But... “I do not know you good enough for that step, Raz”
She pressed her ears to the sides of her head, “Awww...”
He struggled and fidgeted on the spot once he heard her sad tone then he averted his eyes from her and motioned toward the door, “I can bring you home at least. Where do you live?”
She blinked in surprise at the question. She did not have a place to stay nor could she tell him that she was from Tartarus. Then it just leaves one answer...
“I came by train to this city. I actually do not have a place to stay...”
Trestle raised an eyebrow in disbelief at that.
“Are you shitting me?” he asked face shooting.
Razlad shook her head at that. He grumbled something under his breath, then sighed and turned to the door a final time, “Then come along, Razlad. You can have the couch.”
Razlad practically squee'd at that information and hopped off the current couch to follow him. They left the apartment and Trestle locked the door. Put away the key and they left the Apartment Complex.
The sun has set long ago and the darkness of the night took control of the city. Pure darkness where there was no Streetlight and the warm Autumn Evenings long since gone. Razlad heard Trestle curse behind his scarf. He was probably cold. Razlad, as a Devil could choose not to feel the chilly night. But she became slightly concerned for the young Stallion.
“We need about half an hour til we at my Place,” he told her, shivering slightly as the two of them made their way down the street.
She said, “Now I feel kind of bad for distracting you. Did you wanted to leave earlier than now?”
He nodded, “I wanted to leave once the sun was still up, then you came... At least you do feel remorse...”
Razlad could not help herself but blush at the slight jab at her. She looked to the side, wondering what was so special about him that attracts her. No matter how dismissive he was she had the urge to come closer. Even to his very soul.
“Well... I was so excited to meet you though...” she awkwardly laughed.
At the sound of that, he glanced at her and frowned. Razlad recoiled slightly at the glance. Did she do something wrong? Thousands of reasons started to fly through her head why he would disprove of her.
“I do not like that kind of laugh,” he commented and looked ahead again.
She blinked, “Excuse me?”
He sighed and looked down, “The awkward laugh after every attempted joke. It is so irritating. I believe you fill it all with cringe and make the conversation worse with that kind of laugh. In my experience Ponies became 20 % more appealing if that kind of thing is gone.”
“so if somepony stops laughing, they become more appealing in your eyes?”
He shook his head, “Genuine laughter is always welcome but not the kind you use after a bad joke or actually anything that is not genuine...” he muttered to himself then, “I am such a hypocrite.”
“Uhh... got it, Trestle,” she said. Who knew what kind of lesson she could learn from young ponies like him. It never occurred to her that fact. Now that she thinks about it, everyone she knew who did it became so unattractive suddenly. She nodded her head at the new found advice and felt even more intrigued by this Artist pony.
After a few minutes Trestle fell back and trotted beside her and asked, “So what else do you know about me?”
“what?”
“What else do you know about me besides that I am an Artist with my own office.”
Razlad thought about that, she knew a lot of things thanks to the hidden Cameras but he would be weirded out if she told him that he nearly caused a fire accident when he tried to cook some eggs. She remembered that he was tired and clumsily trying to boil the water. Somehow a bit of paper came near the fire below the kettle and would have started to burn if she did not pull it away with her magic, through the monitor. That was one of many times she saved his life. He was a very clumsy pony she noted.
“Umm I do not know much,” she lied and continued, “One of the interns at your employers told me your address. I told him I was an old school friend of yours and he kind of gave in.” Lies Lies Lies.
He raised an eyebrow, “Intern you say? Guess I won't call them then and ask what the fuck they were thinking!”
“Huh?”
He shook his head, “Never mind that...”
Silence set in and stayed for quite a while. They turned a corner into the residential area of the town, It was yet again another place, filled with Apartment Complexes. Big and small buildings lining the view. Giants, sleeping in the night. Many looked like they would rise from the ground and start to walk around. The very few lights that were still on were scattered far and wide in between the many empty dead windows. A raven was heard cracking a short love song to the moon. A moon, Razlad noted which was always full. The Mare in the Moon beautiful as ever. Trestle stopped walking and looked up at the stars. Away from the light of the city the diamonds in the sky were visible. Razlad looked at them as well. Some white points appearing from nowhere as they were just born. A dark blue miasma covering the sky in its dark blue and leaving other shades of blue in between.
The sky was clear, no cloud in sight that could destroy the view of dancing diamonds. Razlad noticed that Trestle shivered again. An idea popped into her head and she moved closer a bit. He did not notice her at first but once she touched his hoof did he look down in confusion.
She used a bit of magic and made sure that he felt warm. He stopped shivering and looked at her hoof in confusion. He knew that she was the cause of his sudden comfort.
“What are you?” he asked, realizing that this is no feat of a simple low life Earth Pony. He looked up at her and stared into her red eyes.
She smiled sweetly and just said, “I am just a simple fan of your work, Trestle... ”.
The warmth that made him comfortable spread through the hoof to his body. Making him relax in ways he did not know was possible. She broke her promise to herself that she would use her words and wits to seduce him but it did not work out so far. What she did was to guide him into a state of relaxation and comfort.

“Sorry. Sorry,” he muttered, turned and continued to walk to one of the buildings.
“...Now... welcome to the Trestle mansion,” he said and opened the door, turning on the lights inside, to his real Home. Razlad followed inside and closed the door with her hindleg. Like with the first flat.
“How come you have two Apartments?” she asked and wondered how much money he earned.
“Apparently I am that good with watercolors that my editors saw fit to give me my own office. It is property of the Agency.”
“You are very good with watercolors!” Razlad meant.
He chuckled, “Yeah, good enough to bait a Stalker, huh? Anyway...” he proceeded to continue walking and to enter the Living Room. Razlad ignored the jab at her and noted how much this was exactly like his office. Only differences were two more doors to other rooms. She knew this Flat too. The first new door leads to a small bedroom with white painted walls and two closets. One for clothes and documents, the other for novels and jackets. One one end should be a blue couch-bed where Trestle slept. She watched him sleep, yes. She remembered him reading Novels about post-apocalyptic worlds, psychothrillers, and the Nightwatch series. There should be a plush of a Gryphon hidden too somewhere that he never used.
The other door led to a small room with a washing machine and cleaning utensils.
She noticed that he stared at her while she observed the Living Room.
“Want something to drink?”
“Uhh yes, what do you have?”
He walked into the kitchen corner and put his hooves on the counter to stand upright, he opened a few cabinets doors with his hooves. He looked inside and said, “Water, Lemonade and Blueberry juice” then he waited for her reply.
She answered, “Just some lemonade please.”
He nodded and took two dry glasses from the sink and the Lemonade Bottle, filled them up as good as an Earth Pony could and put the Bottle away again. Razlad entered the kitchen and took the glass into her hoof, he took his and they downed it all.
Trestle said then, “Not to be rude or anything but I would suggest to go brush teeth.”
Razlad felt her teeth with her tongue, then nodded her head, “A wise choice of action. Hygiene is very important.”
He eyed her up and down, “You do not have a brush, do you?”
She shook her head with a smile, “Nope”
He sighed and trotted to the Bathroom, “You can use one of my spares if you want.”
The Bathroom was just big enough for two grown Ponies to stand inside. There was a Bathtub and a sink, a Mirror, a bit of medicine. Trestle bends down to open a cabinet under the sink. He stuffed his hoof inside and took out a few brushes. All the same model but with different colors.
“Which one do you want?” he asked and offered them.

After a few minutes, she turned to him with a brush still in her Mouth.

Trestle blinked, looked at the package, then blinked again. There were two orange orbs inside about a baseball big. Easy to carry in a hoof. “So, you are saying that you fucked a devil, made her pregnant and now came to my place to show off your kids?” asked a brown Unicorn with a silver mane and magenta eyes, and a cloudy Moon for a cutie mark. his stare piercing Trestle after setting the Devil egg back down on the table. It rolled a bit but then stopped. The other egg was a bit further away.
“yes,” Trestle replied with a ghost of a smile. He took a few days off to get a chance to visit his old classmate, Flare Moon. His latest best friend and maybe closest. They met in their last year and befriended fast over the rare Hobby of being part of this one particular fandom. Their friendship didn't depend on that fact alone. After a month or so Trestle noticed that they had sometimes the same thought process or ideals in certain areas. There was much in common between the two but no matter what any of these, Trestle was glad that the contact didn't break after school. Like most of his other past friends. He should really visit Marc again.
For all their similarities in mind, they were vastly different on the outside. Flare was way taller than Trestle and also a bit skinnier than the grey pony. His brown Coat was much shinier and lighter than the paled and dark grey of Trestle. And where Trestle was introvert; Flare was the extrovert. Seeing them hanging out in public was truly an odd sight to see.
Flare quirked an eyebrow at Trestles short answer but with a neutral expression replied, “So that's all?”
Trestle looked to the side and answered, “I wanted your opinion on this, Flare. What do you think I should do?”
Flare took the other Devil egg and the first one in his Magic and analyzed them from all sides.
“We can't test if they are really your kids or not, Tres. But these are definitely alive,” he proclaimed.
Trestle gave his dead stare again, “No shit, Sherlock. But what now?”
Flare tapped his chin a bit in thought then analyzed the Eggs again, “What does your oh so dark heart tell you?”
Trestle answered instantly, “to cook them?”
Flare gave him a flat stare, “What does your normal heart tell you?”
Trestle answered flatly, “to ignore it for now?”
Flare facehooved. Trestle was older than him by a few months but he was clearly the more adult one of the two. Him being tall and all that. “No, pal... What does your common sense tell you?”
Trestle hesitated for a second, looked down in thought then nodded, “to take care of them!” he smiled and then Flare smiled. They all smiled.
“Exactly, that is what you are gonna do... with this one,” said Flare and gave Trestle the smaller Egg.
“Wait. What about the other one?” Trestle was puzzled.
“I am curious about the devils inside,” Flare answered, putting his egg close to his heart.
“Mhm...” Trestle knew he had to have objections but he couldn't find a reason. The money he got was for two foals and making that only one makes it more money for him. The greedy part inside him was satisfied that way too and all the ethical were silent at the moment.
“Can't argue with that,” Trestle said and leaned back on the couch. On the length side and propped his hooves on Flares lap.
Flare stared at the hooves for a second then threw Trestle off the couch, “Get your dirty earth pony hooves off me!”
Trestle landed on the ground in pain. Suppressing a curse, he failed and muttered, “Fucker...” but stood up with a slight smile anyway.
“Yes and stay off the couch, you ass,”
Trestle just smiled and sat on the ground. Staring at the eggs on the table.
