A Royal Discharge Worthy Of A King

Every year, there comes a time when the people who have passed away, either in battle or a sickness are honored and remembered and their loved ones make time to visit their relatives’ graves, sharing stories about the many accomplishments or hardships they went through. However, for you, the case is far worse than anyone could imagine.
As a child, you always dreamed of joining the navy. Every day, you studied hard in school and got yourself in tip top, physical shape. The only family you had back then was your father and when he heard you wanted to join the navy, he supported you. Immediately after you finished high school at age 18, you registered yourself to join the navy.
Not surprisingly, you career started off pretty rough, but even so, you never gave up and kept moving forward. What’s more is that even though you lived a hard life as a navy seal, you still managed to become a devoted husband and father. It was one of the best things to ever happen to you when you took time off of work just to see your daughter being born.
When you told the news to your father, he was immensely proud of how well you’ve grown and finally got to see his own granddaughter. Sadly, your grandfather couldn’t stick around to watch her grow up after she turned 4. By then, he lost his life from his 6 year long battle with terminal cancer. At his funeral, your family and fellow soldiers paid their respects to your deceased father.
Unfortunately, years later after your father passed away, your career soon led to many traumatic experiences. You still had the scars and burn marks decorating your chest to prove what you’ve gone through while at sea for the past fifteen years. However as painful as it was to obtain those scars, they were easy to get over, unlike the scars you’ve obtained from a far worse pain.
Both your wife and daughter were supportive of your career even though you weren’t around much. Through video chats and holiday visits, they continued to support you... until that dreadful night when you lost everything. Your family, your social standing and your job.
It happened on a rainy night while you were out at sea with your fellow subordinates. On that very same night, your wife and daughter got into a terrible car accident on the highway. Witnesses say there was a reckless driver who put on their brakes too quickly, causing your wife to panic and swerve uncontrollably. It wasn’t long before the car rolled and crashed into a nearby tree.
The paramedics of course were called, but by the time they had arrived, it was too late. Your wife and daughter had died instantly when they crashed. The only good thing that came out of it was that the police arrested the man who was responsible for the accident and that your family didn’t have to suffer the immense pain after the collision.
Another funeral was held shortly after their deaths. Your fellow soldiers gave you the support by saluting to you and your beloved family. They prayed that you would make it out alright and hoped you would find peace.
You were already messed up from the harsh battles at sea but the death of your family pushed you off the deep end. You couldn’t help blaming yourself, thinking that if you were in the car with them, they would still be alive. Unstable and erratic, the navy officials saw no other choice but to discharge you from the force. Of course, things didn’t get much better after your dismissal.
It’s been six years since that tragedy and you preferred to stay away from others. You especially didn’t seek help from a therapist, as it angered you that they believe they know anything about your reality. The closest thing you had to therapy was your occasional visits to the city aquarium. It was the same aquarium you often took your daughter to since it was her favorite place to visit.
At the moment, you were staring at the many fish that circled around their tank. Watching the sharks that swam alongside other fish, you wondered if they too have forgotten what they once lived for. Have they been brainwashed to ignore the prey swarming around them? You can still remember when your daughter thought something similar to that, so she asked one of the workers why the sharks didn’t attack the fishes. But they said they fed the sharks beforehand so they wouldn’t see anything too disturbing.
You honestly didn’t believe there was any good in forcing yourself to come to a place which reminded you of your former career. You could practically feel the ache of your scars as you watched the fish swimming about. Deciding you’ve stayed long enough, you got off the bench to take your leave.
Even though you were dismissed from the navy, you have been compensated with enough money for a retirement. Still, when one lives alone, wealth counts for naught. With a sigh, you exited the aquarium without even bothering to look back. Once outside, you walked to your car and got inside, closing the door and starting the engine. You pulled out of the parking lot and drove away.
You remembered how you had visited the reckless driver who was responsible for killing your family. Even though he was ashamed and you’ve forgiven him, you still didn’t drop charges as he still needed to be punished for his mistake. You didn’t return the prison any more after that one visit.
As you drove on home, you heard the sounds of blood-curdling screams coming from this shopping center. The first thing which got your attention was a man who wore a ski mask had a revolver pointed at the parents, yelling at them to get out of the van.
With a scowl, you pulled up a little distance away from the perpetrator so he wouldn’t notice you. After parking your car, you got out and used every blind spot you could find to advance quietly and swiftly.
The man kept ranting and shouting for the kids to be quiet, pointing a gun at the two helpless little children. Your blood started to boil, but you kept your anger in control. Once you were close enough, you grabbed the man’s gun and threw a few punches to his stomach and face. You tackled him to the ground and pulverized him with your hardest and most effective punches, knocking him out.
However, as the man was knocked unconscious, the trigger was pulled and hit you in the chest, making you shout extremely loud. You clutched your chest and collapsed on the ground. The kids screamed in fear.
“Get in the car, kids! Hurry! And look away, now!” said the mother, but the damage was done. The kids had witnessed a murder with their own two eyes. Your only regret was having them see this with their own eyes.
The father laid you down on your back, trying to keep pressure on your bullet wound. “Hey, stay with me! Don’t you dare die on us! Come stay with us!” he panicked.
“Don’t waste your breath...” you muttered as you stared coughed violently, wheezing weakly. With your last bit of strength, you saluted the family with a smile. It was the first smile you’ve had in quite some time.
“For the land... of the free... and the home... of the... brave…” With those last dying words, you slowly close your eyes.
‘Is this it for me? Is it time for this torn up man to join you in the next world? ’ you thought with whatever moments of consciousness you had left. The void of darkness had soon swallowed you up and carried you off into the afterlife. It’s there that you felt your body drift freely through the endless void.
Though you were unconscious and completely unaware of where you were, you could hear the sound of waves crashing against the shore. As soothing as it felt, something didn’t seem right with this. Soon, you were then able to regain complete control of your body.
‘W-Wha...? How... How did I end up on the beach? ’ you asked as you came back to your senses. Your eyes caught the sight of a beautiful ocean washing up on a white, sandy beach. The sun was high up in the air and the weather was pretty breezy. But you had no time to sit down and shoot the breeze.
“This doesn’t make sense, how is it that I ended up on a beach when I was still in the city?” you asked yourself. But then, this idea popped in your head. “Perhaps... this is heaven. If that’s so, then maybe I can finally see my family again.”
You inhaled the refreshing breeze and exhaled, laying back down on the warm sand. With all the haunting memories in your days in the navy, it’s been so long since you felt this peaceful, ever since the day you witnessed your daughter’s birth.
You closed your eyes, hoping to find the chance to go back to sleep and wake up to see your wife and daughter again. Unfortunately you didn’t get the chance to doze off, as unfamiliar voices began to ring into your head.
“Hey, you there! Are you alright?” asked an older female voice.
“I can’t believe it! Another human? I’m surprised it washed up onto our kingdom. Should we check to see if he’s okay, mom? Should we? Should we?” asked another female voice. This one was was clearly an excitable one.
“I’ll handle this myself, you just stay back where it’s safe, young lady,” replied the older voice. You felt your body being shook gently. “Hey, you alright there, human?” she asked you.
You quickly stirred and woke up, looking up to find some anthro creature you’ve never seen before and jumped to your feet, backing away. She had a beak for a mouth and her eyes were a beautiful magenta color, which matched the color of her hair, though it was also violet colored at the tip. She wore a crystal blue dress that made her look like she had high authority. Her body was mostly made of light pink feathers.
“K-Keep away from me!” you snarled. The creatures before you were taken aback as you yelled at the,
“Oh dear, this isn’t good. Skystar honey, head back into the castle and bring a few guards down here in case things get difficult and don’t let me catch you sneaking out this time, okay?” she said, looking over her shoulder.
“Yes mother!” the one who was apparently named Skystar did as she was told and flew away. With her daughter taken care of, the older woman looked at you with a calm smile.
“Okay, now that that’s out of the way, maybe now we can just sit down and talk,” the woman said, casually approaching you. The more the tried to approach you, the more you backed away. The glare on your face intensified as she came closer.
“Don’t you DARE come near me!” you snarled.
“Honey, do you even know who you’re talking to?” she asked with a smile. Rather than be offended by your disrespect, she seemed amused.
“No, I do not! What do you want from me and how did I get here?!” you asked, still glowering at the creature before you.
“I’ll gladly tell you if you would just calm down, I can’t explain anything to you if you’re on edge most of the time,” she reasoned. She then cupped your chin and you could feel yourself calm down from her surprisingly soft claws.
“W-Who are you...?” That was the first question that came to mind.
The woman smiled at you, reminding you all too well of the way your wife used to smile. “Oh where are my manners? I am Queen Novo, the marvelous leader of the hippogriffs residing here on Mount Aris!” she said proudly. You grew annoyed, as it was clear she had an ego.
“Are you sure you’re not jerking my chain here? Whether you like it or not, that sounds like something a child would come up with,” you replied. This time Novo became offended.
“Now you listen here...” she began but before she could say more, you caught the sound of flapping. Looking up you saw more of Novo’s kind, these ones, however, were wearing armor. You also took notice that they wore some kind of necklace which matched that of their queen’s.
“We heard of the situation from Princess Skystar your majesty,” one of the guards said with a bow. “What should we do with this... human?” he asked.
“I haven’t decided yet, he doesn’t seem to trust me,” she sighed and began to circle around you, as if you were beneath her. The entire time you looked at her with annoyance in your eyes.
“Now that I think about it, I want you and the other guards to take him up to the castle. Perhaps an hour or two in the dungeon will help calm his nerves. I don’t tolerate those who disrespect me in such a manner that he did! If he ever gets hungry, send him a plate of food on the double. I don’t want him to starve to death. Am I making myself clear?” she asked.
“So now I’m being thrown into a dungeon simply for speaking my mind?” you asked unimpressed. The guards growled at this disrespect for their leader and grabbed your arms.
“You’re lucky I’m merciful, otherwise you’d be locked in the dungeon for days, maybe even months. If you keep up this sass of yours, you’d best pray that this sunny won’t be the last. Now guards, take him away!” she demanded.
“Yes, your majesty!” they exclaimed in unison, saluting her. The guards apprehended you and walked you up to this big castle. Left and right you saw more of these majestic creatures who apparently were known as the hippogriffs.
After about ten minutes of walking, you and the guards had finally arrived at Novo’s castle, located on the top of Mount Aris. Fortunately for you even though, you were discharged from the navy you still kept yourself in shape. Of course, there wasn’t much time to look around as the guards wouldn’t let you stop walking.
As Novo had ordered, you were brought into the castle dungeons. The guards pushed you inside and slammed the cell door shut. “Please forgive us, but this is the queen’s order. If you get hungry, we’ll order the chefs to bring a plate of food to you. But for now, just sit there and don’t try anything funny,” one of the guards said.
You wiped off your clothes of any dust and sighed. With nothing to do, you just spent an entire hour working out by doing some push-ups. Not too long after you finished, you were greeted by Queen Novo’s daughter who looked at you with excitement. She wore a beautiful bright pink, sleeveless pink princess dress with a beautiful red necklace. Her body was cream yellow and had baby blue eyes and hair.
“Hi there, Mr. Human! I’m Princess Skystar. It’s so nice to meet you! Like really really nice!” she said, getting all giddy. You didn’t completely trust Skystar yet, so you still kept cautious of her.
By this point, it was obvious that you haven’t passed on into Heaven.
“Uhh, right... I’m flattered,” you said, trying not to sound rude.
“But I gotta ask, what did you say to make my mom so mad? If you were a little bit nicer to her, you probably wouldn’t have gotten thrown in the dungeon in the first place. She was planning on having a nice, comfy room all set up for you,” Skystar said.
“I highly doubt sitting down and talking things over with that woman will solve anything if she can’t learn to control her temper,” you sassed before you laid onto your bed. It actually felt better than you had expected.
“True, my mother can be a little harsh, but it’s only because she’s just trying to look out for her me and her entire kingdom. I’m not supposed to tell you, but if I could tell you, I’d say that years ago, in order to get our magic, we the hippogriffs were attacked by an army led by the tyrannical Storm King.” Hearing this, your interest has peaked and you looked at Princess Skystar as she continued rambling.
“In order to protect Mount Aris’ power, my mother used had all of transformed into seaponies so we could hide underwater. Somewhere where the Storm King and his army could never find us,” she said spinning around with joy. “But I so did not tell you that,” she finished.
“Why aren’t you under the sea anymore?” you asked, getting out of the bed.
“Well, you see...”
“PRINCESS SKYSTAR!” You frowned, as both you and Skystar knew who the voice belonged to. The young hippogriff froze in fear when she heard her mother come down the steps.
“H-H-Hi mom,” Skystar replied, stuttering in fear.
“I thought I told you to stay away from the human until I’m done speaking to him! How many times do I have to tell you this? Go up to your room NOW!”
Skystar hung her head but did as Novo had told her. Once she was out of sight, Novo squeezed the bridge between her eyes and turned to look at you.
“I made a little conversation with your daughter before you interrupted. Tell me, is she always this excitable?” you asked as you sat back down onto your bed. You remembered how your own daughter was always full of energy and ready for adventure. Novo decided to ignore the question.
“What am I going to do with that young lady? She never makes it easy on me, no matter what I tell her. But, back on the subject at hand, have you finally learned to calm that attitude of yours or are you still feeling a bit sassy?” Queen Novo asked.
“I’ve got a whole act, but I think it’s best that I don’t try your patience anymore,” you replied, trying not to anger her. Novo gave you a look, but nodded.
“Guards!” she called out and two armored hippogriffs rushed down the stairs.
“Yes, my queen?” one of them asked with a bow of his head.
“Please unlock the human, it seems he has learned his lesson and calmed down,” she ordered. You frowned how Novo was still talking all high and mighty, but you kept quiet.
“Yes, your highness! Right away!” Obeying Novo’s order, one of the guards stuck a key into your cell door. They cautiously watched you as you slowly stepped out of the cell.
You placed your hands behind your back, waiting for them to cuff you. Though to your surprise they did no such thing.
“Do you actually trust me to go around without any shackles?” you asked Queen Novo.
“If you’ve learned your lesson, then you’re not a prisoner. I’m taking you to your new resting quarters inside my castle. Though, I have to ask, do you like seafood?” Queen Novo asked.
“Sure, in fact, you could say I’ve spent most of my career eating lots of seafood. Why do you ask, is that what you mostly eat?” you asked.
“Not just meat, we also eat vegetables here, too,” one of the guards explained as they led you up the steps.
“Umm... listen, Novo-”
“That’s Queen Novo to you!” one of the guards yelled. However the hippogriff monarch sent her soldier a harsh glare, causing him to back off.
“As I was saying before I was just rudely interrupted,” you began. “I’ve had some time to think in the dungeon and I suppose I was a little out of line. I’m just feeling a bit uneasy, being brought into this strange, new world and all. But still, I want to know something,” you said.
“And what might that be, honey?” Novo asked.
“That daughter of yours, Skystar was it? Is she always that excited to see new things? I don’t personally know her that well, but I can tell that she’s a good kid. Before you interrupted us, she was explaining something that happened here years ago. I believe she mentioned an army led by someone called the “Storm King” or something,” you explained.
Novo sighed and gestured for you to follow her. With an eyebrow raised, you obeyed her and followed her into up to the top floor of the castle. Queen Novo and her bodyguards lead you down the hall and approached the biggest door. This was either the master bedroom or possibly the throne room.
“It’s not often that I bring up this story, but yes, years ago, our kingdom was destroyed by the Storm King. His goal was to take our magic and use it for his own personal gain and take over all of Equestria. He and his former commander, Tempest Shadow, were practically unstoppable, but then… a miracle happened,” Queen Novo explained.
“A miracle, huh? Care to explain?” you asked.
“It was thanks to these group of girls that my kingdom and all of Equestria was saved. Although, thanks to my daughter’s help that they stood a fighting chance. After the celebration, I ended up grounding Skystar. I know she had good intentions, but I still worry for her safety and the rest of my kingdom. That’s why I hid my kingdom in an isolated island. I can’t allow my subjects or my daughter to get hurt,” Novo explained.
You grew silent after she explained this. She knows what it’s like to live in isolation. What it’s like to hide away from the public eye, but she mostly does it to protect her kingdom... to protect her own daughter, too. It’s the same as you were when you isolated yourself from the public to protect them from your unstable behavior.
Novo reaches into her dress and pulled out a pocket watch. “Well due to that little anecdote, mama here is 5 minutes late for her daily massage,” she said as she got up from her throne and allowed her nearby maids to lead her away. You of course still had questions but the queen didn’t give you a chance.
“So that’s why she’s always behaving like this. But something doesn’t seem right. It feels like she’s hiding something deep inside of her,” you said to yourself, quietly. But then, with one last look at the throne, you noticed that there were 2 chairs.
‘Wait a second. If she’s the queen, then where’s her king? Did something happen to him? ’ you thought as you observed the thrones. The hippogriff guards of course kept a close watch on you as you kept looking at the throne rooms. But then, you turned to the guards, wondering if they might have the answers.
“Excuse me,” you said, calmly.
“Yes, what is it?” one of the guards asked.
“I’ve noticed how Queen Novo is running the kingdom, but I’m curious… did something happen to the king? I’ve noticed that the king isn’t around,” you said.
The guard seemed to be debating whether or not he should answer the question. After waiting a few moments, it became clear to you that you weren’t going to get your answer so you made your way out of throne room.
“Alright, I understand. You’re probably not at liberty to speak on behalf of the king by order of Queen Novo, am I right?” you asked perceptively.
You could see the guard was starting to sweat a little bit before he gave a slow nod. Though disappointed that he wouldn’t answer your question, you decided to let it go and continued on your way.
As you exited the throne room, the guards lead you down the hall and stopped in front of one of the other doors. They opened it and lead you inside. The room had a bed big enough to fit you and had a nightstand and a view of the ocean. It seemed like this was the place you were going to sleep in.
You had a slight fear of the ocean due to the horrors you had endured as a navy seal. Though, watching the sparkling waves brought a little bit of relief into your heart, so that was one thing you loved about the sea. You took in a deep breath as you watched the sea from your bed.
‘Diana, my wife… Abby… my sweet little girl… I haven’t been doing so well as of late, but somehow, I feel like my life can really change for the better. I hope you two are doing alright, I love you both so much, ’ you thought to yourself.
You continued to watch the waves sparkle for a few hours until the sun began to set over the horizon. The water appeared to change into an orange color. Watching the many colors decorating both the sky and the sea, you suddenly grew tired. Without even covering yourself in the blankets, you slowly laid down on the bed you were sitting on, deciding to put everything behind you with a good night sleep.

Descending To Seaquestria
Three weeks have passed since you ended up on Mount Aris and you still had no intention of getting close to the hippogriffs. You spent most of your time on the beach outside the kingdom, collecting your own food and sometimes sleeping outside.
Whenever you did wonder around the hippogriffs’ kingdom, Princess Skystar was one of the few who you made conversation with. Queen Novo on the other hand, kept an annoyingly close watch on you when you were inside the castle. Though, you were grateful that she had her designers make you some brand new clothes and prepared delicious meals when you chose to eat at the royal table.
You still haven’t had the presence of mind to ask Novo about her husband, who apparently was no longer with her. For all you know, she might refuse to tell you anything just as the guards kept their mouths shut when you brought it up.
At the moment, you were relaxing in the the luxurious private bathhouse to freshen up after today’s training session. Baths on the navy ships weren’t nearly as luxurious as the one you were taking now. Sinking into the hot water until only your head was above the surface, you pushed everything else aside and relaxed.
The warmth of the water felt so good, it was almost enough to take away the stinging feeling in your chest. You placed your hand over your chest where you got shot and felt more at ease, thinking about whether or not the family you saved was doing okay. You let out a relaxed sigh and scooped some of the water from the rub. Staring at small, rippling water for a few seconds, you let the water fall out of your hand and watch the ripples extend.
Observing the water around you, you suddenly remembered of how Skystar had told you how the hippogriffs had escaped from the Storm King’s forces. You were still unsure how they did it, but apparently they used some sort of magic to transform and hide underwater as seaponies.
Splashing some water into your face, you decided you’ve soaked in the bath long enough and got out. Many well crafted towels lined up on the nearby shelves and every time you took your bath, you were always amazed how they were so soft. After taking your time to dry off, you tossed the towel into the laundry basket and got dressed.
Exiting the bathroom, you looked to see two hippogriff guards who had been guarding the door. This didn’t surprise you, as this is where the royal family bathes, Novo was kind enough to make an exception for you.
“Did you enjoy your bath?” one of them asked with a short bow of his head. You nodded with a faint smile.
“Very much so. Thank you for asking,” you replied as you prepared to walk away. However the guard stopped you before you could even take a single step down the hall.
“Queen Novo has requested your presence on the balcony,” he said causing you to arch an eyebrow.
“Why would she want to see me?” you asked, but neither of the soldiers had the answer. Since you’ve never been to the castle balcony before allowed, you allowed them to escort you. You were curious of what the queen wanted to see you for.
It wasn’t long before you had arrived at the castle balcony where Novo was staring at the sea with Skystar by her side. The energetic princess of course was the first to notice that you had arrived.
“Mother, he’s here!” she shouted shaking Novo’s arm.
“Yes, I know, sweetie. I was able to hear him,” she replied, turning around to face you. She then told the guards that they could leave and they went back downstairs after bowing to their ruler.
“Tell me human, do you know why I summoned you up here?” Novo asked.
“No,” you answered flatly. “I was never specified of why you called for me.”
“Then, let me tell you right now. I don’t exactly like how you’ve been avoiding my subjects, even though they’re not a threat to you, so let me ask you: Why can’t you just let your shield down and relax for a change? This whole “staying cautious” thing is starting to get old and I am starting to run out of patience!” she said, almost about to blow her top off.
“Look, I have my reasons, okay? When you serve 15 years in the United States Navy, you tend to think you’re still on the battlefield. That’s just how I am,” you replied managing to keep your cool unlike Novo.
“Well get this through your thick skull, soldier boy, the war... is... OVER! Wherever you came from, you’ve done your job, served your country and now it’s time to move on! Do I make myself crystal clear?” she asked.
“Don’t talk to me about moving on, the war isn’t the only thing that traumatized me...” you said as you were starting to grow angry. “I practically lost everything! My job, my wife and my daughter, it was all taken away from me! You’ll NEVER understand what it’s like to lose a loved one, your highness!”
Once you finished, Novo was left in shock and was no longer angry at you. Observing her change in attitude, your expression softened.
“Guys, please! Don’t argue like this!” Skystar intervened. “Listen, I’m sorry you lost your family, but I think I know something that will cheer you up!” she beamed before turning to Novo.
“Mother, can we show him how our pearl necklaces work? Can we?! Can we?! Can we?!” she asked over and over, bouncing up and down. This got your attention as along with many other things, Novo didn’t explain the necklaces that all of the hippogriffs wore.
“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea. Have you forgotten the time when Princess Twilight tried to steal our magic behind our backs?” Queen Novo asked.
“That’s all in the past! Please?! Please?!” she begged giving her mother the puppy dog eyes.
Queen Novo sighed, facepalming herself. “Alright, alright! We’ll show him the necklaces, but please, stop the begging,” she said.
“Yay!!! Thanks mom! You’re the best!” Skystar said, hugging her mother.
“Yes, yes I know,” she giggled as she returned her daughter’s embrace. Once Skystar released her, Novo turned her attention to your confused expression.
‘This should be interesting, ’ you thought as you followed Novo and Skystar back downstairs.
You continued following Novo and Skystar until you were back on the beach surrounding Mount Aris. After she let out a deep breath, Novo began to walk into the water along with Skystar, but you stayed where you are.
“Hey, are you coming in or do I have to drag you in?” Queen Novo asked, annoyed. With a slight growl, you took your shirt and shoes off and joined them in the water. Both Skystar and Novo where shocked at the scars that decorated your muscular chest, wondering what you’ve gone through. However, Novo returned her attention to the task at hand and held her claws out.
Skystar took her mother’s left claw, and though you had many questions, you kept quiet and took Novo’s other claw. You noticed how the necklaces that the two hippogriffs wore suddenly began to glow.
“W-What is going...” you were cut off as the light engulfed all three of you. After the light faded, you felt yourself losing your footing and go underwater all of a sudden. You swam up to the surface quickly.
“What in blazes just happened?!” you asked, trying not to panic.
“Take a look at what’s happened to your feet, you’ll find out soon enough,” Queen Novo replied with a smirk. You quirked an eyebrow and lifted your feet out of the water, but you saw that your feet have been merged into a long tail.
“W-WHAT THE?!” you shouted as you looked at your new form. In addition to your tail, you saw webs had formed in between your fingers and as you touched your neck, you could feel that gills had formed. Deciding to take a risk, you dove under the water and discovered you were able to breathe perfectly.
“I can’t believe it. I’ve completely changed,” you said, even more surprised that you can also talk while still submerged underwater.
You felt a pair of arms wrap around you and turned to look at Skystar who had also changed form. Her beak had been replaced with a muzzle. The front of her hair had changed, forming a tip which was like an anglerfish’s esca.
“Isn’t it great to be able to roam freely underwater? I can never get enough of this!” Skystar exclaimed happily, swimming around all giddy.
“It’s always nice to go out for a swim every once in a while, but I prefer to rule my kingdom from dry land,” Novo said placing her hands behind her neck. “My sister, on the other hand, has decided to keep watch over Seaquestria, as well as look after her kids.”
You turned to Queen Novo with a calm, surprised look. “I didn’t know you had a sister,” you said.
“Ooh! Let’s pay them a visit mom!” Skystar squealed.
“We will, honey, we will. Just be patient,” Queen Novo said, patting her daughter’s head gently before looking at you. “Now, listen. I’m only going to say this once, so listen carefully: The hippogriffs down in Seaquestria aren’t going to harm you, so be on your best behavior and show them and my sister some respect. Do you understand me?”
“Yes, I understand,” you replied. By now you have gotten the hang of swimming while in this form. It was actually easier than swimming as a human. The queen smiled and nodded before she guided you and Skystar further down into the water and swam through this underwater entrance, entering the underwater land of Seaquestria.
You looked all around and were amazed by how many seaponies were roaming around with smiles on their faces. Skystar giggled at your amazed expression and swam on ahead. Left and right, the seaponies were enjoying their lives down here. Some were conversing with fish, other were using shells as drums and dancing to the rhythm. Of course, the civilians made sure to bow to their queen as she swam by.
You’ve never seen life underwater as beautiful as what you were looking at. “I never thought I’d see the day when I’d discover a world that’s probably far greater than the those stories I’ve heard about the underwater city of Atlantis,” you ranted to yourself.
“Atlantis? What’s that?” Skystar asked, snapping you out of your trance.
“Oh, sorry, I got a little sidetracked by this beautiful kingdom, I reminisced about all the good times I spent out in the ocean. You see, back home, a couple of my fellow soldiers told me about this mythical underwater city known as Atlantis. It is said that one day, the ocean swallowed up the entire city and sank it down to the bottom of the sea. Some people say it’s only a myth while others believe it was very real,” you explained.
“Did you ever witness this happen?” Skystar asked.
“No,” you chuckled. “That happened a long time ago, probably several millennia ago. But if I had seen it then, I’d probably be too scared to go back into the water ever again. But whether it’s real or just part of a story, I still got to learn a little bit about it.”
“Wow, I had no idea,” Skystar said in amazement.
You nodded as you could understand the princess’ shock, and you turned to look at Novo. However she wasn’t paying attention, rather she had her back turned. Unknown to either you or Skystar, sad thoughts were playing in the queen’s mind and she soon began trembling.
Even though you and Novo haven’t always gotten along, you were still concerned. Though you couldn’t tell what she was thinking, it pained you to see the queen looking like this.
‘Perhaps I can try to ease to her pain when we get back to the castle. I can somehow feel that she’s hurting deep down, ’ you thought.
“Mother are you alright?” Skystar asked, causing Novo to snap out of her thoughts. She coughed a few times and smiled reassuringly.
“Well of course I’m alright, why wouldn’t I be?” Queen Novo said, acting calm and composed. “Come on now, we best be off.”
“Oh okay then!” Skystar said relieved
While the facade was enough to fool her daughter, you were able to see through Novo’s lie. Something was definitely troubling her and somehow you just might know what it could be. Though you kept quiet and followed the two until you arrived at some sort of house.
Skystar rapidly knocked on the door with a huge smile on her face. In mere seconds, the door opened revealing a young seapony with white scales. He appeared to be around Skystar’s age, maybe a year or two younger. The moment he saw who was at the door, he began smiling.
“Skystar! Auntie Novo! It’s so nice to see you guys again!” he said as he hugged them both. After pulling away from Novo, he took notice of you.
“Who’s this?” he asked with a frown. After inviting you into the house, you introduced yourself to the seapony who then told you his name was Terramar.
Looking around you saw even though the house was a bit small, it was nicely furnished and comfortable. Terramar led the three of you into another room where another seapony was sitting. This one had pink hair as well as yellow scales.
“How marvelous of you to come down for a visit, Novo,” she smiled as she swam over to embrace Novo. “And I can see you brought Skystar and… is that a human?” the seapony asked, gesturing towards you. You swim up to her and introduce yourself.
“Oh, nice to meet you, my name is Ocean Flow. I’m Novo’s sister. I see you’ve met my handsome little son, Terramar as well,” she said, rubbing his head.
“Mom!” he complained feeling embarrassed. This sensitivity made both Ocean Flow and Novo giggle.
“Anyway, what brings you to Seaquestria on such short notice?” Ocean asked as she served some snacks.
“Well, my daughter here insisted on showing our new guest around Seaquestria since he’s never seen it before. He’s a bit of a... loose cannon when he runs his mouth all over the place,” she said giving you a nod.
“He was just confused and scared because he was brought to our world after he got into some kind of accident back where he lives. He’s kinda going through a phase ever since he lost his wife and daughter,” Skystar said.
“Oh, you poor thing,” Ocean Flow said and then offered you some fish oil tea. You accepted it gratefully and took a sip of your tea.
“Thanks, this tea is… quite good,” you said, smiling at the taste.
“You’re welcome, deary. I can’t even imagine what you’ve been through,” she said.
You were in no hurry to go back up to the surface. While there are things you want to clear up with Novo, it’s best to enjoy Terramar and Ocean Flow’s hospitality. Allowing Ocean to pour you so more tea, you could still feel the pain that Novo might be feeling. You can see it in her eyes and her soul as you took another sip out of your tea.
You had spent a good amount of time in Seaquestria, as by the time Novo decided to bring you back to the surface, the sun was already beginning to set. Even Skystar, who is usually full of energy decided that she’s had enough fun for one day.
Using the pearl necklaces to change yourselves back, you saw that your shirt and shoes were still where you had left them. Taking a moment to dry off, you put your clothes back on with a yawn.
After getting yourself dressed up, you followed Novo and Skystar back up to the castle. As always, the walk up there proved to be a good exercise for you. The princess soon ran inside the castle, probably heading off to her room. This was your chance to talk to Queen Novo about her strange behavior.
“Novo wait!” you called out, making her stop in her tracks.
“What is it? Is there something you want to talk about?” she asked.
“Yes. It’s about your behavior when we were arriving in Seaquestria. You’ve been staring off into space, thinking about who-knows-what and quite frankly, I’m getting rather worried. Is there something bothering you that you want to talk about?”
Novo was quite surprised that you were openly showing concern for her, despite the many times the two of you ended up bickering. She averted her eyes, wondering if she should fill you in.
“I don’t think I should tell you,” Queen Novo said.
“Novo, if there’s anything troubling you and it’s tough to ignore, it’s not doing you any good if you keep it bottled up. Please let me help you,” you urged.
Many seconds of silence passed before Novo gestured for you to come with her. Following her down the hallway, you soon came to her chambers which was being guarded by two hippogriff soldiers. They quickly stepped aside when Novo gave the command, allowing the two of you to enter into the luxurious room.
As nice as the room was, your attention was completely towards Novo who sat down on her bed. You took a seat next to her, and with some reluctance she began her story. What you do next, catches her by surprise. You placed a hand on her shoulder. You were trying to help her boost her confidence and make her feel more comfortable.
“Before I had Skystar, I was happily married to my husband. He treated me like I was his whole world and even helped our subjects in their direst of need. When I told him I was pregnant with Skystar, he was overjoyed to finally become a father. We bought so much baby stuff to plan ahead for our daughter’s arrival. But then…” Queen Novo paused and clenched her claws up into a fist.
“What? What happened?” you asked
“One day, my husband contracted a fatal disease that began eating away at him from the inside. By the time he caught the disease, we had already conceived Skystar.” Novo began trembling again before she continued.
Watching her mourn, you felt so guilty for the way you yelled at her on the balcony. Turns out the two of you had more in common than you realized.
“Before we left for Seaquestria, I noticed how your expression changed after I yelled at you. I was wrong about what I said when I told you that you’d never understand what it means to lose a loved one, and I’m sorry.”
Queen Novo wiped her eyes and sobbed quietly to herself. You didn’t know what to do other than to give her a hug and rock her left and right. By then, her sobbing got louder. Your shoulder grew wet from her tears, but you didn’t mind it one bit. Your mind was wracked with guilt after the way you had treated her all this time.
After a good ten minutes or so, the sobbing began to go down and Novo gently pulled away from you. You gave her a sad smile and were about to stand up.
“W-Wait!” Novo exclaimed, grabbing your arm. You stopped and sat back down and looked at her with confusion.
“What is it?” you asked.
“Please, don’t leave. If it’s alright with you... would you please stay in my room for the night?”
You couldn’t possibly turn her down after knowing what she’s gone through. You nodded slowly, making the queen smile and pulled the covers, allowing the her to lay underneath them comfortably. You followed suit, joining Novo in the bed before reaching over to turn off the nearby lamp.
As darkness filled the room, you could feel Queen Novo snuggle closer to you. In order to thank you, she decided to plant a soft kiss on your cheek, making your eyes widen. Before you could question it however, she had fallen asleep in your embrace. You sighed and fell asleep with a peaceful smile on your face.

The Gift Of Love
11 months have passed since you arrived at Mount Aris and your relationship with the hippogriffs was growing better, especially with Queen Novo. It was obvious by this point that you and Novo were dating and no one could be happier than Princess Skystar.
You had no doubt that this is where you belong, especially since after your first trip to Seaquestria, Novo gave you your own necklace so you could pay a visit anytime you want. Whether it was on land or in the water, you were well respected by the civilians, especially Novo’s relatives.
Ocean Flow was always happy to make refreshments whenever you came down to pay her a visit. You openly told her how happy her sister made you and she was completely supportive of your relationship.
Recently, you learned that Terramar’s father, Sky Beak was amongst the seaponies who chose to turn back into a hippogriff after the Storm King was defeated. As the leader of Novo’s guards, it didn’t hurt that you spent some time sparring with him out in the training grounds. You were impressed by how tough he was, but you weren’t a slouch yourself. During most of your sparring sessions, it mostly ended in a draw.
While his mother stayed in Seaquestria and his father stayed on Mount Aris, Terramar chose to go back and forth. He wanted to spend equal amount of time with his parents so he wouldn’t have to choose who’s the favorite, showing he loves his parents very much.
As for your ghosts of the past, you were able to lay them to rest and move on with your life. Your fear of the ocean had also dissipated, bringing back your love for the ocean.
As close as you were to Novo, you could never replace her husband, just as she could never replace your wife and daughter. Nonetheless this didn’t keep the the two of you from showing affection to one another.
Pretty soon, your birthday had finally arrived and right now, everyone gathered around at the castle grounds, chatting with each other and enjoying the food. As usual, Skystar was bouncing around the castle grounds, excited for the big party. You had just finished up your stories of when you were in the navy to a couple of guards.
You clinked your cup of wine with the guards and took a sip before gripping your throat, but you chuckled instead of grunting in pain.
“It was only a sip, but it’s not so easy on the throat,” you said, smiling. The guards laughed and patted you on the back before Queen Novo steals you away.
“Okay there, Bellator, I think it’s time for you to open up your presents,” Novo said, taking you to the table where all the presents were. “We weren’t sure what you would like, so we tried to improvise on the gifts.”
“I see. Well, no matter what, it’s the thought that counts. So who goes first?” you asked.
“Skystar, come on over here, sweetie and give Bellator your gift,” Novo called out. Skystar froze up a bit and slowly approached you with a disappointed look, rather than a happy one. When she was close enough, she hung her head down.
“I... I’m sorry mom. I forgot to get a gift for him, I got a little sidetracked,” Skystar said. Queen Novo facepalmed herself. Though instead of scolding Skystar, you walked up and hugged her. Skystar gasped and didn’t understand why you did this.
“The greatest gift and honor… is having you for a daughter,” you said, making her smile again. She returned your hug with a hug of her own.
“Thank you so much... father,” Skystar replied. The crowd awed and clapped for you. Truth be told, ever since you’ve been dating Queen Novo, you started to think of Skystar as your own loving daughter and it wasn’t until now that you finally told her how you really felt.
After you broke the hug, you kissed Skystar on her forehead, making her giggle and stand back up on her hooves.
“Looks like you gave him a gift after all, sweetie,” Queen Novo said, hugging her daughter. “Now, Bellator, go ahead and open up your presents. You can’t keep the audience waiting.”
You chuckled, “Alright, Novo,” you replied. Without any further delay, you opened up each present one-by-one, impressed by what the citizens have gotten you. The guards all got you some weapons: a spear, a battle axe and a double-edged sword. The citizens got you a couple of new clothes for your closet and a couple of necklaces made from seashells. Others got creative and got you a couple of bottles of wine.
Another present you got was a set of body armor. Thanks to all the times you kept in shape, wearing the armor you’ve gotten was easy enough to carry.
“You look a little silly in the armor, but not as much as you look handsome,” Queen Novo said before giving you a peck on the cheek. She didn’t shy away from showing affection to you in public, and you didn’t mind either.
“Still, I like the design. It’s a perfect fit,” you replied with a chuckle.
After the party had ended, everyone, as well as you, helped clean up the castle grounds and you thanked everyone for the presents and the cake Queen Novo and Princess Skystar made for you. As soon as the castle grounds were cleaned up, you were confronted by Princess Skystar about something you said earlier.
“Umm... father?” Skystar asked.
“What is it?” you asked.
“Did you really mean it when you said that having me for a daughter was the best gift of all?” she asked.
“Of course. Why do you ask?” You noticed how she was beginning tearing up.
“Well, it’s just that I’ve never known what it was like to have a father of my own. When you said those words, it caught me off guard,” she said.
You sighed as you patted Skystar on her shoulder. “I can’t deny by this point that I’m in love with your mother, nor that I think of you as my daughter.” You led her to nearby couch and sat down.
“Speaking of which, you never told me how you lost your family. It’s okay if you don’t want to tell me what happened,” Skystar said.
“If we’re going to be family, we might as well not keep secrets from one another,” you said as you took a deep breath. “Back in my world, humans would use something we called cars for transportation to places that were too far to walk to. It was a rainy night and I was out on the ocean with my fellow soldiers. My family was heading home after they ate dinner. But when they were driving home, this driver in front of them put on his brakes too quickly and caused my wife to swerve out of control and hit a tree off-road.”
Skystar gasped and backed away with a claw over her mouth. “T-That’s horrible!” she said.
“I was still serving overseas, nowhere near them when the accident happened. I broke down afterwards because of the remorse to the point where they had to let me go. Three years later, I too got killed and somehow ended up here afterwards. The only good thing I got out of the whole thing was throwing the man who murdered my family behind bars,” you explained.
You brought Skystar into another hug. “I’m well aware that nothing will bring my wife or daughter back, but both you and your mother were able to help me back on my feet and help me move on with my life. From now on, you and your mother are my new family and I’m very grateful to be a part of it,” you said smiling down at the young hippogriff.
“T-Thank you... father,” Skystar replied before you stood and prepared to walk away.
Ever since you and Novo became a couple the two of you would occasionally meet on the balcony to watch the ocean together. The sound of the ocean waves drifting onto dry land and receding back into the sea. At the moment the beautiful queen was laying against you, gently nuzzling your chest with her beak.
“You’ve been a bit quiet for a while, honey. Aren’t you going to let your queen know how beautiful she looks today?” she asked. You used to find her ego to be annoying, but now it just made you smile.
“If you insist. With the sun setting in the distant horizon, the rays seem to make your whole body glow so brightly that even the sparkling waves are envious of your eternal beauty,” you said before kissing her cheek. You began rubbing her mane as you stared into her eyes.
No more words were said as the two of you took in the sight of the setting sun shining on the ocean. After a nice ten minutes, the sun had long disappeared and Novo decided to break the silence.
“Hate to leave you, but it’s time for mama here to take herself a nice bath.” She turned to walk away, but stopped as she felt your hands on her shoulders.
“How would you like to have some... company?” you whispered into her ear, making her shiver. Of all the things you and Novo have done since you started dating, bathing together wasn’t one of them.
“A-Are you sure?” she asked, to which you nodded. She didn’t tell you, but when her husband was still around, she would take baths with him all the time.
“I don’t mind sharing a bath with you, Novo. What do you say?” you asked still holding her shoulders.
“Well... alright then,” she answered before allowing you to take her claw so you could walk downstairs together.
Upon arriving at the bathhouse, the guards who stood by the door raised their eyebrows, but nonetheless opened the door without any questions. Both you and Novo no longer felt any awkwardness from this situation, even as you began undressing.
As you got into the water you took notice of Novo’s body for the first time. She had a gorgeous hourglass figure with enormous G-cup breasts and a plump, round ass sticking outwards. From your prospective, she looked like one of those models from the Las Vegas shows.
Novo stepped inside the water and leaned onto you. Aware that you had been gazing at her, she saw an opportunity to mess with you.

With a devious smile, you grabbed Novo so you could pull her under the water with you. Novo surfaced herself, gasping for air. You joined her and smile.
The queen looked at you with an eyebrow raised as you began to snicker at her. The glare on her face turned into a sly smile and she pushed you back into the water. With that, the two of you were even and decided to begin washing yourselves.
Novo’s back touched your front as she allowed you to wash her front with your soapy hands. She moaned softly as you rubbed her from top to bottom, especially when she felt your hands move to her humongous breasts. Though the castle servants gave her massages almost each day, there were certain parts they were not allowed to touch.
“Consider yourself lucky that I’m allowing this, Bellator,” she sighed and placed a claw over the hand you were groping her with. “Just... be gentle with my big girls, they’re very sensitive because of their size.”
You nodded and kissed her on the cheek. Novo giggled at your affection and kissed you back. As you kept massaging Novo’s bust, she continued to let out soft moans. She felt herself almost losing herself and pressed her back against your muscular chest. Her breathing grew slightly loud, but not enough to let the guards outside hear you two.
“Are you enjoying this, your highness?” you whispered, making her giggle.

Novo’s words seemed to boost your ego a little bit. You smirked and moved your hand towards her nipple and flicked it a bit, making her shudder. Seeing her squirm in your hands brought a huge smile on your face. Novo seemed to be enjoying the massage, too, even if it seemed to be boosting your ego.
Using your available hand, you scooped some water and splashed it onto the queen's body. Novo sneezed when some of the water leaked into her nose, much to your amusement. Not giving you the chance to comment on the sneeze, the queen turned around and looked into your eyes.
“Would you be a dear and massage your queen’s back now?” she asked.
“Sure thing, your majesty,” you replied. Stroking the back of her head a few times, you slowly moved to massage her wings. Novo ended up moaning a bit louder, and you knew that was probably loud enough for the guards to hear. You can only imagine the looks on their faces when they picture you enjoying your time with Queen Novo.
Once you finished washing her wings, you continued down until you reached her rear.
“Mmm, you getting a good feel down there, handsome?” Queen Novo teased, shaking her butt.
“Why, yes I am, my queen. In fact, it’s irresistible,” you answered while squeezing one of her rump cheeks. As you sank your hands into her rear, you noticed how her beak was just inches away from your lips.
“Bellator, come here and give me some sugar,” she whispered. You obeyed the horny queen and locked your lips with her beak. Despite how sharp her beak was, Novo was careful to make sure the kiss felt enjoyable. While your hands were still caring for her rear, her hands reached up to rub your cheek.

After giving her another kiss, you noticed how your hands were getting pruney and decided you’ve stayed in long enough. Getting out of the water, you offered Queen Novo your hand which she took with a smile.
Taking a couple of minutes to dry yourselves off, both you and Novo grabbed a bathrobe to cover yourselves. You looked at her with amusement as the robe struggled to contain her wholesome bust.
“Well, that was refreshing, don’t you think?” you asked, stretching your body.
“Without a doubt, you stud,” Novo answered as she grabbed ahold of your arm. Walking over to the door with the queen leaning on you, you used your free arm to open it. As you expected, when you walked out and looked at the guards, their faces were blushing bright red, probably hearing all the moaning from inside the bathroom.
“You guards haven’t been listening in on us, have you?” Queen Novo asked, placing her claws on her hips.
“N-No your majesty!” they frantically answered, standing up straight and sweating. You chuckled at how they were obviously lying, but you spared them their lives by keeping quiet. Queen Novo also knew they were lying, but she also decided to let it go and grabbed your arm again. You both continued walking back to Novo’s chambers.
“I’m quite surprised you chose to let them off the hook,” you admitted.
“Well, to tell you the truth, those two guards back there are still fresh out of training school, so I can’t punish them right off the bat just for listening in on us,” she shrugged.
“Understandable,” you said as you finally stopped at the doors leading to Novo’s room. With a bow, the hippogriffs who were standing guard opened the doors for you with a smile.
“Have yourself a nice rest,” they said with a smile, which both you and Novo returned. Before they closed the doors, you gave them an added salute out of respect. Unknown to these guards however, you and Novo wouldn’t be going to bed just yet.
“Hey Novo,” you said with a devious look.
“Y-Yes?” she asked unsure why you were looking at her like that. She yelled as you suddenly scooped her into your arms, carrying her bridal style. A blush appeared on her cheeks, seeing how you were holding her like this.
“Oh, you sneaky little! Put me down!” she laughed, but you shook your head.
“No can do! A queen as radiant as you deserves to be brought to bed in style and I’m not taking “no” for an answer, gorgeous,” you replied as you rubbed your nose against her beak. Though she was embarrassed at first, Novo soon accepted it and latched her arms around your neck.
“Well, when you put it that way, I suppose it does sound interesting...” she said with a grin. You savor the moment of getting to hold the beautiful hippogriff in your arms. It was as if you were her handsome knight who had just brought her back to safety. After keeping her close in your embrace for a few minutes, you finally began walking over to her bed and set her down.
“Carrying me like that... you’re the first to do so since my late husband,” she said, watching as you joined her on the bed.
“I couldn’t help myself, you’ve made me so happy, Novo. I wanted make you feel special after everything you, Skystar and the rest of the kingdom did for me over the past year...”
Novo wrapped her arms around your neck again, knowing you weren’t done talking. “I’m listening baby.”
“After I lost my wife and daughter, it seemed like there was no point in doing anything anymore. My life was starting to fall apart, but it was you and everyone else here who helped me pick up the pieces and become a more stronger and independent man. As I told Skystar, I’m well aware that I could never replace your husband, but that didn’t stop me from showing my love for you,” you said.
Queen Novo gave you a warm smile and rubbed your cheek again. “Bellator, I’ve sort of been thinking almost the exact same thing. Likewise, Skystar and I can’t ever replace your wife and daughter, but that doesn’t matter, because I love you so much and I want to show you just how much I do,” Novo replied and let go of your neck.
You watched as she slowly undid her robe and slid it off her shoulder. The robe had been struggling to contain her breasts, which bounced out as they were free from the confines.
“You’re beautiful...” you whispered as you sat up and held her hand.
“I’m well aware of that, but feel free to remind me as often as you like...” she replied just as quietly. After you let go of her claw, she took hold of it and placed in on her breast.
