Equestria Girls alternate story

It has been several hours since Twilight has become a princess, I watched her coronation with Sunset by my side. Mother walked up to me "I've asked Twilight and her friends to stay the night, if you want to talk to her then you have all of tomorrow to do so" she said before heading towards Twilight.

The coronation finally came to an end as the day turned to night, Sunset and I walked towards my room as we walked past a guard. Sunset looked at him which caught my attention "you know him?" I asked, "kinda," she said, "you know how I've told you about the other world I've been too?, I've met his human counterpart his name is". "Flash Sentry," Princess Cadence said as she approached us, "he's a new guard and I decided to bring him here as one of my guards". She looked at Sunset "you must be Sunset correct?" Celestia's told me about you", Sunset looked worried before Cadence continued "don't worry she told me how much you've changed since being with my cousin".

I looked at Cadence "yeah, even I sometimes forget that we're cousins" I rubbed the back of my head, "which means I'm cousins with Twilight too due to you and her brother being married". We laughed a little which help Sunset to relax a bit, Cadence walked with us to my room as we talked. We talked about various things from Cadence foal sitting either Twilight or me to Cadence having a little girly talk with Sunset, we said night to Cadence as we reached my room before she left to go to her room.

Since Sunset has been coming back often I've emptied several of my dressers so she can keep some of her clothes here, outside of the first night she has spent her she normally wears her pyjamas to bed. After she was used to sleeping with me she'd normally sleep in her underwear unless we finished having sex, then and usually then she'd sleep naked. After she'd remove her clothes and was stood there in her underwear I held her close as I kissed her neck, she turned her head around and kissed me back before helping me to undress before we climbed into bed and fell asleep.

We don't normally wake up in the morning but today was an exception, we both got dressed and headed towards the throne room. The three Princesses were upstairs talking to each other so we were alone in the throne room until Twilight and her friends entered the room, Twilight hugged me "great to see you Daydreamer" until her wings made my arms bounce off her back.

"Still not used to them eh?" I said walking behind her, I placed my fingers on her spine as I located a certain nerve. A bit of pressure and a twist and her wings relaxed "mom taught me that" I said, "ah the anti-wingbone trick" Rainbow said flying around. Without me in front of her Twilight saw Sunset "Sunset right? Celestia previous student", "former student," Sunset said hanging her head with a bit of shame. I walked up to her and hugged her "I think you're still her student just on a hiatus" I said, I helped the girls introduce themselves before they were able to happily start talking to each other.

In the background, a dark shapeless figure lurked around as it shifted from shadow to shadow, it primed itself as it waited for an opportunity to strike. In a flash, it dashed out of the shadow and knocked Twilights crown off her head as its tail end of the shadow grabbed it, we ran after it following it throughout the castle. As we ran a thought came to me "it can't escape us normally, it must be after the portal to the other world" Sunset nodded.

I grabbed her hand and used some magic to teleport us to the front of my room, my door must've been left open by one of the maids. before we could react the shadow appeared as we fired some magical bolts at it, one of the bolts struck it sending the crown flying into the portal. The shadow was stunned for a second before charging at us, Sunset pushed me to the side as the shadow passed right through her. The shadow stopped behind us as it started to take the form of a unicorn mare, by this point mother had just arrived after hearing the commotion. She barely caught sight of the shadow as its mane turned blood red in colour before disappearing into the portal, "Darkheart" she said as the other girls arrived at my room.

Mother sat on my bed as she held her head crying a bit as Luna consoled her, when she had finished crying she told us Darkheart was formerly her daughter from five hundred years ago. She was previously called Stardust until she found a stone that corrupted her, mother was unable to help her when she attacked the castle before her body just destroyed itself.
Mother thought she had died that day but didn't realise that a fragment of her escaped destruction, it hid in the shadow of the castle where it laid dormant until it was strong enough to find a power source to sustain itself and give it form.

Twilight looked at the mirror "looks like we have to get my crown back" she said, "wait" Sunset said "trust me it wouldn't be wise if we all go. No offence girls as I'll explain later but you five can't go", the girls looked hurt by this until mother spoke up. "She's right it'd be best for you lot to stay here to keep the balance of our worlds, Sunset can I trust you to help Twilight?" she asked. Sunset nodded "but I'm going to want Daydreamer to come with me, I might feel better if he's with us," she said. Mother nodded "I'm counting on you lot and thanks to Daydreamer you don't have to worry about the portal closing", we nodded as Sunset held my hand before we walked into the mirror followed by Twilight and Spike.

It felt weird as we fell through the portal until we finally reached the end, I fell down and nearly pulled Sunset down. She helped me up before Twilight and Spike came through, I looked at the girls and saw how much they've changed. "So that's a human?" I asked as I looked towards Spike "and you've become a dog Spike", not much has changed physically outside of Twilights wings were missing and our horns were gone. My hooves felt weird as I looked down to see they have changed, "they call them feet" Sunset said as we watched Twilight doing a little panic dance.
