---Introduction---
Hello Fellow Bronies,
What does the name, “My Little Ponies: Friendship is Magic”, mean to you? To some, it means a great show, containing amazing storylines, voice acting, and character development. To others, is the basis of a fandom, whose members span from the Cape Town, South Africa, to Tromso, Denmark in the North. From San Francisco to London, over to Tokyo. A fandom which includes people of all career fields, including soldiers protecting our freedom and liberty and scientists aboard the ISS. But to most of us, the name means everything listed above and more. However, what is going to happen when Hasbro announces that it is canceling production of the greatest animation series ever created? Luckily, we now have a backup plan for when the inevitable strikes. It goes by the name of the “Keeping Magic Alive” project.
Most of the world’s governments have emergency plans for when “sh*t hits the fan”. The goal of the KMA is to continue to keep the show alive, once the actual show dies. If you were a brony since the first season, you may remember the scare when news was passed along that season two was going to be canceled. Of course, we soon found out that was false, but during the short time of crisis, nothing was done by the fans of the show. Don’t get me wrong, we DO support the show in every way we can, even by buying advertisement spots on the HUB to thank the producers of the show. However, like with all shows, the corporations have final say over everything. What is our plan once Hasbro says, “we are stopping production of My Little Ponies Friendship is Magic.”
The goal of the Keeping Magic Alive project is to continue to produce episodes of our favorite animation once the official show ends. We don’t mean 5 minute flash videos with subtitles and corny animations. We are going to create full 20~ minute episodes, and possible even seasons. KMA will include everything the official show already has: storylines that could fit right into the real show, voice actors who sound very similar to the current actors, songs, and of course, great animations. We may also add some of our own touches, like references to big fan work (maybe a small reference to Fallout Equestria?)
---WHAT WE WILL NEED---
I don’t believe there should be a cap on the amount of people who can join. After all, the more people we have, the quicker we can make episodes. Here is a list of different “jobs”, which NEED to be filled in order for us to reach our full potential.
-DIRECTOR(s)
These people will keep in touch with all of the coworkers to make sure everybrony is working quickly and efficiently. After all, we can’t run a show if there is no coordination! You will need to be a natural leader, and will also need to devote a large amount of time for writing emails to the coworkers and reports to the head director (me).
-STORY WRITERS
These people will write the storylines to the show. Without them, there would just be a bunch of ponies talking with no plot! These people will need to be very creative, but also be able to work in small teams (communication!!!). They also need to be able to think of new plots every week (nobody wants to see Twightlight learn about sharing every week.) The good thing about this field: If we have enough people, we can break into several teams to work on many episodes at one. That way, if one group has ‘writer’s block’, the show can continue!
-SCRIPT WRITERS/ SONG WRITERS
Similar to the STORY WRITERS, but these people will write the lines for each character, including the characters actions (that way, the voice actors will know how to move their voice). A very important role, they will need to stay in touch with the story writers to get the plot for each episode. Again, a very creative role. This role will also be responsible for writing the songs which we all know and love. They should know the basic song structure for this role.
-VOICE ACTORS
You can’t have MLP without voices! Without voice actors, you would be just as well off watching real horses… These people need to sound VERY SMILAR or EXACTLY like the original characters, as well as be able to throw their characters voices around for emotions. It would also help if they knew how to sing!!! A very exclusive role, but has great rewards.
-SOUND AFFECT CREW
Background noises, sound effects, and instruments for the music all fall into this category. A person who would like this career should have a vast knowledge of how to use instrumental applications, like Garage Band on Mac computers. (MUST ALSO OWN OR BE ABLE TO AQUIRE THESE PRODUCTS!!!)
-STORY BOARD ARTISTS
Like to doodle? Like Ponies? Then this role is for you! A very simple job, as the a person’s role in this field is to make the paper storyboard images for the episodes. You will need to be a decent artist, as you must make dynamic backgrounds, legible characters, ect. Good artists are needed for their field.
-ANIMATORS
One of the most important, and most time consuming roles. An ANIMATOR must stay in contact with other ANIMATORS to divide up who-does-what, along with DIRECTORS who will give them all of the materials they will need (story boards, scripts, songs) so that they can incorporate them into the show. An ANIMATOR NEEDS TO HAVE GOOD ANIMATION SOFTWARE AND EXPIERENCE FOR THIS ROLE!!! Our project is non-profit, so you will need to have your own equipment for this role!
-ADVERTISERS
Have you ever played Fallout or Skyrim? Then you will know how much a barter and speech skill can come in handy! What’s the point of making a great show if nobody is going to know it exists? The goal of the ADVERTISERS is to…well… advertise! Post on blogs, Youtube, Facebook, ect. However, you must be able to do this without being a “Troll”. We don’t want our show to gather negative attention.
These are the basic roles that need to be fulfilled for the Keep Magic Alive project to work.
If you would like to join, even if you don’t think you fit any of these career fields, email us at: KeepMagicAlive@gmail.com
---STARTING UP---
Once we get a decent amount of people, we will all need to democratically vote on names and what-nots. Due to copyrights, we can’t use the original names, but we can use names very similar (AppleJack= OrangeJuice, Equestria=Harmonia?) We need to be very careful to make this show accurate, but legal. Research will need to be done into copyrights held by Hasbro on My Little Ponies, so we don’t get sued!
After that, we will need to get to know each other a bit. This will help to increase synergy. Maybe e will make a Facebook page page or a Google+ page if we all have webcams. If we build healthy friendships within our organization, we can easily and happily make great episodes.
Finally, we will need to help support the fandom once the shot shuts its doors. We need to encourage people to continue to make fan work and watch our show. It’s crucial to keep people from straying away from the values that the show teaches us. My Little Ponies Friendship is Magic is not only one of the last shows, but one of the last of ANYTHING, that brings out the great values in everybody. The show still teaches young and old audiences alike, the differences between good and evil, and promotes universal peace through brotherhood. Almost every other show, movie, song, organization, and even political party teaches us one or more of the following ideas: creed, corruption, justification of murder, war, stealing, terrorism, sexism, racism, and intolerance to different ideas and opinions. If we let this show die, we are allowing the goodness within humanity die with it…
Again, email us at: keepmagicalive@gmail.com if you would like to join.
