Which, she assumed, was why Feather, for the upteenth time, asked, “Do you ever regret it? Not taking Cadance’s offer to go back to being a stallion? I mean, I was really touched when you decided to become a mare too, but I’m always afraid that-”
“-I did it just because you did it. I know, but I had my own reasons, and you know that.”
“Yeah, but your reasons-”
“Were unrealistic, I know!” Button sighed as she rolled her eyes. She was sick of these questions. Sick of the fact that she was the only one they doubted. Yes, it had started off as just the fact that being a mare made her more attractive, felt so good, and was something she liked romanticizing, but…
Button looked back at her costume and lifted up part of it. “Do you know how many mares I’ve looked up to? How many I’ve befriended? How many I’ve been close to? But there was always a space between us. A space that told me that I could never be as close as I wanted to be, or that I’d have to choose one and say I loved them.”
Button blinked for a moment as tears came to his eyes. “I… Never wanted to admit it, but for a long time I wished I was a mare. Not because I felt wrong as a stallion, but out of place. The fact that it became easier to get ponies to like me was just a bonus when I can now watch help Sweetie pick out clothes. Now that I can be my mom’s wingmare, I’ve helped her avoid plenty of dates, and doing that feels… More right then when I would just wish them the best as a stallion.”
Feather smiled down at her, before wrapping her arms around her friend. “Okay. I just wanted to make sure, and I’m so happy to hear that.”
“So am I. In fact, I’m positively rigid at the news.”
They both looked up to see Rumble standing in the doorway. They looked like a mare still, complete with breasts that still made their two friends jealous, but they could see what else they were packing from the large bulge in their shorts. Then again, that’s how the two of them knew Rumbled liked it.
After all, after what happened back at the arena, Rumble had ended up having a long talk with Cadance about how they were. About how they experienced pleasure, and their issues with it. And Cadance had loved it, and in fact had been hoping to somehow found a pony like Rumble. One who didn’t care about mare, stallion, gay or straight. One who got off on pure pleasure.
So letting Rumble embody both was just logical to all of them, and usually they were off putting on more games, or smaller events to help mares like Feather come out of hiding and get the treatment they so desired.
But when Rumble was back home with their two idiot friends who had gone and gotten themselves pregnant, they was their supporter, and the two mares ran up to hug them to welcome Rumble back, all too happy to see them.
Just as Rumble was anytime they came home. And yes, in both ways that can be taken.
