Previous Chapter

We finished our meals we walked down the hall and down a set of stairs. Our research department was larger than the building itself so we built it under ground. After a ten minute elevator ride filled with nothing but nerve wrecking silence, the elevator came to a halt and the doors slid open. On the other side was a dark corridor outlined by white lights. We followed the path which lead to a larger briefing room. As we walked through the other room, I allowed my hand to slide against the smooth mahogany table that stretched from one side to the other. I felt like this was my last time seeing this table and it was my favorite because of the sole fact that it was made of mahogany. We cut through the office and down the center of a large workspace. Workers were lined up left and right for what seemed like miles. Suddenly, a white cart  driven by a guy named Mike pulled up and slowed to motion for us to hop on.

  We rode our way down through the research facility until we hit a double bypass steel door. We disembarked at the first gate and passed the second by using our ID cards. On the other side,  there were rows of control consoles lined up in a complete circle around a large indention in the ground that seemed bottomless. As soon as we entered other workers began to flood in to man their panels. "Alright, let me explain how this is going to work", Rolland turned to me and said. " This is the 3rd mode of teleportation we got working for the most part by using your idea of using momentum and it's the only one that won't short out and explode due to the large quantities of matter and energy flow at the moment.These 3 floors have their own functions , the middle monitors any and all currents or fluctuations of energy flowing through the soon to be open portal in that hole down there that you'll be falling down in. The top section of workers will be observing your vital signs on the other side. The one we're standing in will hold up communications while your in Equestria", he explained without skipping a beat, "you got that?". "Yeah" I replied. "Where's the guy who solved that error? Ummm, Conner?", I asked looking out the window towards the other levels.

Suddenly, the door behind us opened up and out came a Caucasian man wearing a white lab coat with a "20% cooler" t-shirt under it", scraggly brown hair,a  roughly shaven face, and brown eyes. " Ummm... sup?", he said a bit awkwardly. He wore thick glasses and scratched the back of his head. "Hey there", I replied "So you're the guy who found out what we were missing?" I asked him trying to make him feel a bit more calm. He nodded and gave a nervous smile that seemed to get more relaxed as the conversation carried on. "Let's get a move on guys!" , exclaimed an impatient Isaac. He pushed us all out of the room and into the next. We soon found ourselves thrown into another section communications center. There was a large pile of stuff and a long table. I walked up to the table and found that there were many guns. " What the hell man!?" exclaimed all but Isaac.

He laughed and retorted with "given the current situation I thought that you'd need everything you could get  your hands on". Conner looked at Isaac in fear and only got a sly grin back. Isaac walked over to me with a long metallic container. "Happy Birthday", he said as he emptied the contents onto the remaining space on the table. A black hooded suit , a satchel, goggles, and boots had become newly added items to the table. The suit looked like some kind of spy would wear. There were small pockets and compartments everywhere including a handgun slot, a leg knife slot, and a slot above the lower back. Isaac handed me a long item. It wasn't a blade but it was about the length of that slot on the backside of the torso I had just described. "It's a stun rod", he explained with delight. I held it up in a reverse grip and flipped the switch on the bottom. The the room had been filled with the sound of a static charge and  a bright flashing of a white light." I placed it on the table and turned to Isaac but before I could ask him why in the hell did he get this, he gives me a card board box. "!" I gave him a questioning gaze.

" You've been playing my Metal Gear Solid game haven't you?" I asked him with a frozen face and the stun rod back in my grip. "Eeyup, apparently the only way to get through a stealth mission is a handy dandy card board box". To be honest with you, I had a good mind to shock the shit outta this guy but I considered it anyway. I took it, folded it, and slid it into the satchel. "You should get changed", suggested Rolland who pointed at a door to the left of the room. I grabbed the suit and walked inside. While putting on the suit I heard a shock come from the other side. As soon as I got out, Conner was sprawled out on the floor and Issac laughing. "What the hell just happened?" I asked rushing over to Conner but not touching him." I let him hold the stun rod.He'll be fine man, just wait about 40 minutes and he'll be back on his feet again." responded Isaac. Rolland had already called the paramedics who had Connor escorted out of the room and into the emergency ICU just outside of this part of the research facility. " He's pretty clumsy", said Rolland who sighed.  30 minutes later I had a Colt M1911 handgun on my side, a combat knife on the other, and the Stun Rod on my back as well as the overly stuffed satchel. I walked out of the room and down the hall that we came through. When I entered the room, a thunderous applause engulfed the room and killed my hearing.

As I continued walking I has soon guided by a woman with short brown hair to another smaller elevator. I entered and the doors closed behind me. I had been riding up for about 10 minutes now. When my ride to the top had finally came to a halt, I walked out only to find a large platform over the pit. My innards seemed to melt and I had a sinking feeling about this whole situation. I was excited and a bit scared at the same time. I got a few waves and thumbs up from the lab boys downstairs which made it hard not to smile. One of the ones in the corner motioned for me to put my hood on. I did just that and had my ears filled with Rolland's voice. " Bzzt, Alright good luck out there! Everything you need is in that bag from a silencer to boxers to  love letters and a way back to the facility. Once you get there you need to search through your satchel and place that homing beacon we put in there. Just hit the switch  on the side and it'll send a signal that tells us where exactly in existence you are". "Gotcha", I replied and gave a thumbs up. Soon a machine roared to life near the bottom of the pit. A bright spectrum flooded my eyes and I flipped on my goggles to keep my eyes from exploding. A deafening alarm went of along with a count down.

10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1!!!

" ALRIGHT THE PORTAL IS READY, JUMP AND FIND US A NEW WORLD TO CALL HOME!"

Hearing this from an unrecognizable voice I dived and plunged myself into the void, my body disappearing along with the blinding light.
