Starlight Glimmer's Late Nights
Starlight Glimmer's nights always wound down in the most peculiar way, she had a way of postponing sleep until the last possible moment. "Trixie? What are you doing here this late?" Responded Starlight.
"I couldn't sleep," lamented Trixie, "I usually just read my comics when I can't sleep, but I've read them all at least twice." Glimmer wasn't sure how she could help Trixie, except by being kind.
"Well," she said, "You could look at Twilight's library, I'm certain there are some comics in there." Trixie wondered for a moment, then asked.
"Well, what have you been doing? If you're up this late, you must be doing something."
Starlight began to wonder about Trixie's excuse for arriving so late, she could borrow a comic or two, if she needed one, and she knew that. Regardless, Starlight could not deflect Trixie's question. Her logic was sound. She had planned on solitude that night, but she wasn't opposed to spending time with Trixie either.
"Actually," she responded, "I've been working on a potion. I've told you before, I think. The potion of Leagros?"
"That... sounds familiar," said Trixie, though she was not sure of herself. "Can I see?" Her question came with an innocent smile. Starlight nodded and, taking a moment to collect herself, began to walk back towards her laboratory with Trixie close at her side. Trixie's energy was complete, and Starlight couldn't help but smile at her presence.
When they arrived, the beautiful, luminescent nature of the room had not faded. Trixie stayed at the door to admire the room for just a moment as Starlight returned to her studies. Trixie began to wander the room and look at the various mixtures, admiring them and their long, archaic labels. She noticed the shelves, and all the ingredients they held, mostly leaves and berries. Starlight had told her that plants had an inherently magic nature about them. Suddenly, she spoke.
"So how close are you to finishing it?" she looked over at Glimmer.
Starlight was pouring a vial of green liquid into a conical glass filled with glowing red fluid. She answered with unwavering focus.
"I'll actually have a working version soon, if everything goes as planned. Hopefully tonight."
Trixie began to realize there would not be much for her there, except that she could admire. As time went by, she grew bored.
