It was a frigid winter evening in the middle of December. I was walking home from the restaurant I worked at for over a year now. I had another better paying job a while back but due to something I posted online, they laid me off. I’m now forced to take this dead end job to make ends meet but its not working out, but I'm choosing to keep working at that place. I'm glad that my coworkers are telling my to keep a smile and to chin up to help make my miserable day feel better. Just before I work at around four thirty, I got into a fight with the manager about me mixing up customers orders and some other bullshit I dont give a damn about.

After the fight, I put in my two weeks notice to say that I’m quitting after two more weeks of work so now I have to look for another job, but where exactly. The road I was walking on was an old abandoned road that nobody had used in over from what I can guess for about fifteen years now. The cold air from the winter breeze was enough to make me shiver.

The road was covered with about two feet of snow since it snowed a lot last night but I heard on the radio at work that we should expect about a sixty percent chance of a storm. “I’m glad I’m wearing boots instead of my sneakers.” I said to myself as I struggled a bit the walk in the snow. I looked up at the cloudy sky to see that it was starting to get darker out. I looked back in front of me and as I continued walking, something in the corner of my right eye caught my attention. I looked over to see what ever it was and to my surprise, I saw a beautiful brown and white equine that looked like it came straight out of the show My Little Pony.

“What the Hell?” I asked myself. “Why is there a pony from that kids cartoon out here all alone?” I carefully moved closer to it to get a closer look. I ducked down beside a large rock and looked closely at the gorgeous pony. I saw it had a white heart for a cutie mark, its mane and tail was a darker brown then the brown on her coat, and when I get a close look at it’s face when it turned towards my but still not seeing me, it had blue eyes and since it had eyelashes like that of a female pony and it’s face and body wasn’t blocky like that of a Stallion. I knew right then and there that this pony was a Mare or Filly.

I also noticed that one of her eyes was swollen shut and she had bruises all over her body, poor girl. I looked at how tall she was and judging by her height, I now knew that she was an order filly. Around the age of the CMC or older.

“H.. Hello, is anypony out there, I need help and it’s very frigid cold out her.” The filly said out loud. Her voice sounded beautiful like the song “Summer Madness” by “Kool and The Gang”. As I stood up to get a more closer look at her, I slipt on a small patch of ice and fell on my ass. The filly quickly turned here head towards me then slowly began to approach me. As she approached me, I saw that she had no wings, nor horn so she was an Earth Pony. I then pushed myself behind the rock to hide from her thinking at first she would attack me but I decided to let her see me.

“Hey you over there, you okay sweetie?” The filly said to me. As she came face to face with me, her eyes widened and a surprised look grew upon her face.”Wait just one tency tiny minute.” The filly said to me as she looked me in the eyes. “Your a human… aren’t you?”

I opened my mouth to say something. “Ye.. Yeah, I am.” The filly then looked my surprised then went into a fit of excitement.

“Oh sweet celestia I thought you guys were just myths but here I am talking to an actual living human!” Her fit of excitement didn’t last long because she start to experience pain all over her sides and belly.

“What's wrong little one?” I asked her. “Looks like you got into a fight not to long ago.” The filly then started to tear up a bit. “Hey hey it’s alright, I didn’t mean to upset you.” I told her in a calm soothing voice.

She wipes the tears from her face with her hoof. “It’s nothing really, I feel from a hill not to long ago.” She told me. Since I was a detective that being the job a had before having to work at that damn restaurant, I could tell she was lying to me.

“Hey I can tell your lying to me sweetie so please tell me what really happen.” I told her.” I could also tell she was very terrible at lying because how her tone of voice was and how she looked at me while saying what supposedly happened to her. Even if she did fall from a hill, she would most likely have to have a broken leg or two.

“How did you know I was lying?” She told me after looking at me surprised that I knew she lied to me.

“I used to be a detective a while back so I’ve been trained to detect when someone is lying by looking at body language, listening to tone of voice, and some other things to detect a lie”. I told her.

“Well okay I’ll tell you the truth of why I look this way but can we get somewhere warm, its really cold out here and I don’t have my winter coat yet.” She said to me.

“Sure, I’ll take you to my house, it’s just about a third of a mile from here.” I told her. “By the way sweetie, what's your name?”

She looked up at me. “S’mores, my names S’mores.” “Hey that's a lovely name considering your coat color.” I said to S’mores.

“Well then what's your name.” S’mores asked me. “It’s Quinn, my name is Quinn.” “That sounds like a pretty good name.” S’mores said to me. As I stood up, I picked up S’mores to carry her all the way to my place because of the condition she was in since her left eye was swollen shut and she had bruises all over or sides and belly, poor girl.
