All I wanted was to play Ogres & Oubliettes...View OnlineWake Up and Smell the Roses, Discord! All I wanted was to play Ogres & Oubliettes...It was Hearts and Hooves Day in the small town of Ponyville, and Big Macintosh was busy getting everything ready for his special somepony, Sugar Belle. He thought back to the moment they met. An order had been placed for a large number of apples from a small bakery shop that happened to be in Starlight Glimmer’s old village. When he arrived, the owner of the bakery met him outside, knowing that the delivery pony would need help with all those apples. The rest is history. It was unusual for a pony of his age to have their first crush, but Big Mac had always been a little different. He was very aloof and mostly kept to himself. He was literally a stallion of no words, or at least, very few. He was attracted to her instantly. Her fushia coat complemented nicely with her dark magenta poofy mane, accented with teal colored small round beads that stuck out among her dark curls. Her eyes were the color of the brightest pink sapphires ever known. Even though they haven’t known each other for very long, Big Mac was determined to make this Hearts and Hooves Day one she will never forget. Big Macintosh stared at the heart shaped apple pie that was baking in the oven with desperate longing and anticipation. He looked over at the apple shaped kitchen timer on the counter, the hands on it seemed to move at a snail’s pace. Of all the days, why did the little timer decide that now was the best time to operate in a seemingly slower function? After what felt like forever, the hand on the timer moved to indicate that another minute has passed, but Big Mac only grunted in frustration. “You said it, Big Mac, this is taking forever!” Spike paced around the kitchen before coming up to his side. “I know it’s wrong to cut corners when it comes to gifts from the heart but, this is an emergency, right?” “Eyup” Big Mac nodded. Spike suddenly thought of way to speed up the cooking time. He cupped his claws around his mouth so his voice would emanate in a louder volume. “Discord!? Discord!?” he called, hoping the Lord of Chaos would hear him. But it seemed he did not. Spike sighed dejectedly. Big Mac leaned down and whispered something in the baby dragon’s ear. Spike smiled at his friend’s cleverness. “Good idea!” He jumped onto Big Mac’s back and held himself with pride. “Captain Wuzz, are you prepared to enter the world of Ogres and Oubliettes?” That seemed to get his attention, for as soon as Spike finished, Discord flashed into sight wearing his “Captain Wuzz” costume. “Huzzah! Fellow adventurers! Shall we storm the ramparts of Squizzard’s castle? To reclaim Calico’s Ring of imperceptibility?” Discord asked with excitement. Spike and Big Mac glanced at each other, confused. Now it was Discord’s turn to be confused. “You did summon me for a rousing ‘guys night’ of Ogres and Oubliettes, did you not?” Spike taped his claws together nervously, “Uh, kind of. But first, can you use your magic to speed up this pie real quick?” he pointed at the oven behind him. Discord stood there with a blan expression on his face. “You seem to be confusing the Lord of Chaos with a second rate clown magician for hire.” he was about to snap his fingers when Big Mac stopped him. “WWaait!” he put a hoof out to stop him. “This pie needs to go into the mail today! Or it won’t get to Sugar Belle in time for Hearts and Hooves Day!” Spike explained. “Why in Equestria are you sending a pie through the mail? Doesn’t seem like the best way to do it.” Now that they thought about, both Spike and Big Mac agreed that Discord brought up a good point. Though they would never admit it. For it’ll only fuel his already egocentric ego even further. “How else are we supposed to deliver it?” Spike asked. “Oh, I don’t know, how about delivering it to her personally?” “We can’t do that, Discord. Big Mac wants this to be a surprise.” Spike told him. “Eyup.” Discord scoffed. “Besides, can’t you see that that holiday is nothing but a commercialized ruse pushed on you by the greeting card industry?” Big Mac cleared his throat and pointed at the pie in the oven impatiently. Discord sighed. “Fine, but you owe me for this.” He snapped his fingers and in a flash his “Captain Wuzz” costume was gone and was replaced with a clown costume. He held a plastic magician’s wand in his paw and waved it front of him. The pie popped out of the oven and softly floated down in between Spike and Big Mac. “Keep your eye on the pie. It’s magic time!” Discord rhymed. Author's Note Can someone explain to me how to write something in the middle of a dialogue? I wanted to write “you seem to be confusing the Lord of Chaos...” he flashed on crown and cape, completed with a tall scepter. “...with a second rate clown magician for hire.” Is that how you would write that? With the three dots to indicate that he hasn’t finished? Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated
Called out by a baby dragon!View OnlineWake Up and Smell the Roses, Discord!Called out by a baby dragon! The apple pie sat on the kitchen table to cool. Steam rose from its surface to indicate that it was still hot. Discord leaned over and gave it a small sniff. “This smells...” trying to come up with a word that wouldn’t sound offensive, “palatable.” Spike understood what Discord was thinking. “Well, pies really are more of Sugar Belle’s area of expertise, but I think that is what makes it all the more special. It shows he’s interested in what she cares about.” He elbowed Big Mac playfully, who nodded in response. “He’s also planning a really big romantic Hearts and Hooves Day dinner. It was my idea to bake the invitation inside.” Spike said proudly. He was pushed away by Discord, who snapped his fingers to reveal the hidden card, but at the same time causing the pie to deflate like a balloon. It was if the pie relied on the card for support. The pastel pink card was covered in sticky apple pie residue. Discord opened the card and read out loud the words written inside. “Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Sugar Belle. Meet me in my barn at sunset for a special surprise.” “Pretty clever, don’t you think?” The little dragon boasted. Big Mac giggled bashfully with a slight blush on his cheeks. Discord gagged and rolled his eyes as he snapped his fingers to put the invitation back inside. It instantly reinflated as if it has never been touched. Big Mac smiled down at it and clapped his hooves together in excited approval before wrapping it up in packaging paper. “Well, you two have certainly bought into this whole romance nonsense. Hook, line, and sinker. That’s for sure.” “For a formerly friendless immortal despot, you’re pretty cynical.” The purple dragon said. “I’m a realist,” Discord said with all honesty, “and like all things warm and fuzzy; love isn’t real.” Spike rolled his eyes in playful banter, “Aw, come on. You act all tough, but deep down you’re a softie. I mean you don’t have tea with Fluttershy every week just because you like tea.” He looked at Discord with a knowing expression. Discord turned his head away to hide the small blush on his cheeks. In truth, he knew that love was absolutely real and that what he felt toward Fluttershy were much stronger feelings than friendship. He knew he was in love with her, but he couldn’t gush and be all sappy over feelings of love and romance around his guy friends! Discord quickly made up an excuse, purposely leaving out said mare. “But I really do like tea. Really really I do! Every tea, all the teas!” He claimed. He used his magic to make himself appear as if he was on a cooking show. He completed the illusion by giving himself a chef’s hat and coat. He began listing all the teas in alphabetically as each herbal ingredient scrolled past on the bottom of the screen. Unbeknownst to Discord however, there was a peculiar pink stain on the chest of his chef’s uniform that seemed to resemble a very familiar butterfly shape... “Chai, Chamomile, Cinnamon Pumpkin Spice, Earl Grey, Ginger, Green, Hibiscus, Lemon, Mate, Peppermint, Spearmint, White,” he had to take a deep breath of air that he was running out of, “and White.” He finished as he snapped himself back to reality. Big Mac and Spike learned to ignore his antics. Using his teeth, the red stallion picked up the string that was wrapped around the package walked toward the Ponyville Post Office. As Spike and Discord watched Big Mac go from the door, he turned to Discord. “How about this, while Big Mac is busy sending off his big romantic gesture, I’ll show you the splendors of Hearts and Hooves Day in Ponyville. I’ll guarantee I can prove that you believe in love.” “Fine, consider it a gentleman’s wager.” He got down to his level and held out his paw, “Loser mows my lawn for eternity.” Discord grinned secretly to himself, knowing full well that the little dragon would lose. Without even pausing to consider it, Spike shook his paw to seal the deal. “So is it like a riding mower or...” It was as if Spike knew he was going to lose. Discord held out a pair of tweezers, “Nope, tweezers!” Spike gulped nervously. What did he just get himself into? Author's Note This is all I have to say... THANK YOU SPIKE FOR BRINGING THE OBVIOUS TO LIGHT! I feel like the writers are getting closer and closer to canonizing Fluttercord!
A tour of loveView OnlineWake Up and Smell the Roses, Discord!A tour of loveSpike kept to his end of the bargain and took Discord around town. The whole town of Ponyville was decorated with streamers and banners to mark the commemorative holiday. Spike sighed blissfully, “Love is in the air Discord. Look at all these happy couples." He gestured to all the ponies around them showing affection to their partners. Discord looked around him and smiled inwardly to himself, it was the same look he gave Fluttershy. "How can they be happy if they aren't playing Ogres and Oubliettes?" he pretended. Spike ignored him, "As a great dragon poet once wrote to his beloved, 'I love you with the utmost clarity. I love you dear, my sweet, sweet, Rarity'" Clearly, the "great dragon poet" was none other than Spike himself. “Have you been listening to anything I’ve been saying?” Spike noticed Discord had on a pair of spectacles and was fiddling with a ship-in-the-bottle. More than you know. Discord thought to himself. Discord stood up from where he was sitting and tossed the bottle he had been working on behind him. The spectacles were still on his snout when he turned to Spike. “Can we play O&O now?” He asked with his arms crossed. “Sure, right after you admit that you believe in love.” Spike said with a smirk. “Actually, Spike, I...” “Hold that thought.” Spike cut him off as he turned and jumped into the bushes. Discord stood there confused before Spike pulled him into the bushes with him. A magenta unicorn mare happily trotted past the pushes they were in and walked into Sugarcube Corner. Spike peaked out from the pushes. “That’s Sugar Belle, Big Mac’s girlfriend.” He told Discord. Discord wasn’t not paying attention. He was too busy thinking about that word. Girlfriend. It had a nice ring to it. He imagined what it would be like to call Fluttershy that and the thought caused his heart to skip a beat. How he desperately wanted to. “I wonder what she’s doing in town so early?” his voice shook Discord from his thoughts and brought him back to reality. Discord and Spike snuck up to the door that led into Sugarcube Corner and peered inside. The unicorn mare was talking to Ms. Cake. Their backs facing the door. “Well, Sugar Belle. I’m sure Big Mac won’t be expecting it.” Ms. Cake was heard saying. Spike gasped, “She must be planning her own Hearts and Hooves Day surprise for Big Mac! What if she goes to Sweet Apple Acres before Big Mac is ready? We have got to warn him!” Spike started running off, but Discord snapped his fingers. Instantly transporting him and Spike into the kitchen of the barn at Sweet Apple Acres. Spike, still in mid run, did not stop in time and ran straight into the stove. He shook himself from the dizziness and looked at the farm stallion with urgency. “We just saw Sugar Belle at Sugarcube Corner. I think she’s on her way over here! You gotta stop her from coming before the barn is finished!” He gasped, “Eyup!” before running straight out of the barn and toward town. “I wonder what she has planned for him?” Spike thought out loud. Discord wanted to take the time to go see Fluttershy, but his curiosity to the dragon’s question nagged at him. “We don’t have to wonder...” Discord said mischievously as he snapped his fingers. He teleported them near the same pair of bushes they were hiding in not so long ago. “Take note, Discord. This is what love is all about.” Spike said. Discord flashed a note pad and pencil. “Spike: Love is about spying behind the bushes.” He said with sarcasm. “Make fun of me all you want, but look at Big Mac’s face and tell me you don’t believe in love.” He pointed at the galloping earth pony. Discord didn’t need to look. He already knew. He looked up at the sky to see that it was almost sun down. He didn’t have a lot of time, Hearts and Hooves Day was almost over! Spike saw him raise his fingers to snap, “Discord, what are y-“ But he was already gone.
